This breakfast I had with my spouse was perfectly cooked and delicious. It came out quite efficiently and hot. We had Texas french toast, eggs, rye toast, great tasting bacon, and the creamiest grits. The next great thing was that the prices are so reasonable. It was very clean and we had the best service from Pam. She was attentive and wonderfully friendly. We would go here more frequently if not for the fact that I live more than 30 minutes away. Typical home style diner food. These were the thickest pancakes I've ever had! The service was quick and attentive, never had to ask for refills because they were on it. Went for breakfast today. Ordered fried fish sunny eggs grits white toast sweet tea. All were prepared very well. Large piece of fish was perfect. Sweet tea was done right. Kitchen was a little backed up, I wasn't in a hurry so it was fine. Sidney waited on me and she was handling a busy morning with great skill. Really enjoyed the experience. I've never met a Cafe Perks I didn't like...A LOT. I wish I could remember my server's name because she was fantastic! The fish was excellent AND you can order it for breakfast...that's always a plus in my book. Fish and fries both served so piping hot you have to blow on them before consuming...as God intended. I am so happy to have come across this restaurant. I absolutely LOVED it! From the moment we entered we were welcomed with open hearts and huge smiles. Our waitress was phenomenal. Cafe Perks is a good value when you're in the mood for breakfast diner food! I've been here a couple times and they have all the classics - omelets, pancakes, french toast, hash browns, grits, bacon, and sausage. I can't help but order the breakfast special, which is three eggs cooked to order, grits or home fries, and toast for $3.49! I ordered my eggs scrambled and the toast was nicely toasted with melted butter, just how I like it. I had the same thing on a previous visit and I thought the portion of eggs was very different on one visit compared to the other. Either way, you can't beat that price! The prices on everything else are reasonable too. My husband usually opts for eggs and lots of extra meat. And lots of meat = happy and no longer hungry husband. The service is alright and I have to be honest the booth seating is a little uncomfortable. I sunk down in the middle, so I would opt for the table seating next time. Very friendly atmosphere but horrible chicken tenders (extremely overcooked to the point they weren't edible). The home fries could've been tastier they had no flavor. The onion rings were the best food on the plate. Extremely disappointed on overcooked hard to chew food. Definitely would order something else. They were over cooked crispy chicken strips and not chicken tenders at all. Perhaps they should change the menu and say "crispy chicken strips" that were overfried & cooked. Disappointing especially when traveling. I couldn't eat the chicken tenders (overcooked strips). Sounds redundant but that's how bad they were!!!! read more

New job in Casselberry doesn't have a lot of good food choices around, so I decided to try this place. It really is that hometown diner hole-in-the-wall feel, which I like, and if I had a longer lunch break, I would hang out here more. I got the Fried Fish special on Friday and it was incredible -- fresh, MASSIVE portion of fish (they had to fold it to get it to fit in the to-go box), real tartar sauce, fries were okay, cole slaw didn't have much flavor, but the fish was phenomenal. I would definitely return and I've already recommended the place to my boss and coworkers. One thing I thought was strange was that you'd think the "daily special" would be at a special price that's different from the regular price, but mine was about $8.50 and I saw on the menu that a fish platter is $7.99, so it's about the same price. Cafe Perks is one of those places you go to when you just want to feel like you're at home again. The staff are all energetic and friendly and take the time to get to know you. The cooks are skilled and my eggs always come out the correct way. They have a diverse menu of breakfast/lunch items with daily specials, however, I always end up ordering my favorite omelette, the Philly cheesesteak. It's three eggs with peppers and onions and of course a thinly sliced, perfectly seasoned steak, cut just perfectly for the omelette. It comes with potatoes/grits and toast. I always order a side of bacon because, well, bacon! The bacon will always come out perfectly crispy unless you order it limp. I really recommend this place if you're looking for a nice little hole in the wall place to get some breakfast and enjoy some good company. read more

Nothing special. Walking in, the place was packed, so we sat at the bar area. We ordered 2 coffees and waters. The server was nice, just seemed a little overwhelmed. We ordered eggs benedict and the greek skillet. The eggs benedict came out and was not appealing to the eye in the least bit. I consider myself an eggs benedict connoisseur, as I order it at almost every breakfast place we go to. It took about 30 minutes to get our food--not the normal wait time for breakfast usually. We were already almost done with our 2nd cup of coffee. The server told us that the kitchen just wasn't on their game today. The homefries looked absolutely nothing like the menu photos; they were broken and mashed pieces of potatoes, not the golden fried nuggets advertised on the menu. The hollandaise sauce was starting to separate. It looked like maybe too much oil? I'm not quite sure. It was just very thick and whatever ingredients were separating on top of the egg. The poached eggs were cooked properly, though. My husband had nothing bad to say about his Greek Skillet. Again though, the presentation was mediocre. He also got the wrong toast. No big deal, but he didn't get the correct toast until he was almost done with his food. Meanwhile, on the other side of the bar area, a server was running around like a chicken with her head cut off because she lost a signed receipt. She was rummaging through the garbage and pacing back and forth in front of us, cursing, because now she won't get her tip. We wanted to just give her the $2 she was probably out just so she would go away. Our server kindly apologized for the food wait and the kitchen staff. And we left. Change is not good. We have gone to Cafe Perks in Casselberry, FL for 20 years and always had good food and service. The business is now owned by someone else and is called SALLYS DINER. OMG IT IS AWFUL. Service is extremely slow, The food was awful. My husband was served a plate of burnt hashbrowns cold toast and overcooked steak. My egg salad sandwich was served on stale bread with wilted lettuce. YUK! Whoever Sally is she needa to take some classes and how to run a Restaurant business . Because what we experience today is not how it should be. We saw three tables full of people actually get up and leave after having waited an hour to even be acknowledged which is what we consider doing. This is a typical mom&pop diner. There are no frills but what they do they do it well. Service was fast and friendly and the restaurant was clean. I had the chicken fried bowl which consisted of home fries, two pieces of chicken, sausage gravy and two eggs all over a homemade biscuit. I couldn't finish it. Let's be clear: this is not a phenomenal place to eat. You don't go for amazing food of high quality. You go for the novelty and good people. I was picking up some items for work at FASTSIGNS in this plaza around noon and needed to get lunch. I saw this little diner and thought, "why the hell not?" So I went in and seated myself. The place is rather bland and old looking, though they have tried to spruce it up by adding some art and eclectic things on the walls. It looks straight out of the 70s. I'll also confirm other reviews that the AC is sorely sub par. It wasn't unbearable, but also not pleasant. The good news is I was told many of the shopping center's tenants are getting new AC units. I ordered a bacon cheeseburger and sweet tea. This is clearly a southern joint, because this was southern sweet tea. Read: super sweet, just as it should be. The burger was good enough. That's not a knock. It was flavorful, juicy. But nothing special. They square of processed cheese was clearly thrown on last minute, as it hadn't even melted yet. But who cares? The fries were so so. Nothing to write home about. But you go to places like this for comfort food that's still yummy and to meet nice people and get a sense of small town charm (an illusion in Orlando for sure, but still welcomed). The two female waitresses were incredibly pleasant and attentive. We joked, made small talk, and when they found out that my wife and I are about to have a baby, they got so genuinely excited it was adorable. I have been coming to this location for 20 years plus from when it was Country Fixins to now Café Perks. The clientele is loyal, always coming back because the wait staff is terrific. No this is not a 5 star overpriced restaurant that doesn't give a crud about its customers. It's a 4 star diner where the customers recognize each other and appreciate good country style food served by kind servers and prepared by a quality kitchen staff.
