I was having my car windows tinted around the corner at Precision Window Tinting and needed a place to wait for 45 minutes. I spotted Cafe Perks in a run down strip mall, but despite the exterior, it seemed quite inviting. The crowded dining room reinforced my interest all the more, so I ventured in. What Cafe Perks lacks in elegance, it makes up for with charm and no-frills comfort. It reminds me of places I would visit 50+ years ago with my Dad after we went golfing in Northeastern Massachusetts or Southern New Hampshire. You went because you were hungry, wanted a good meal and staple foods. Cafe Perks delivers on those needs! My Dad might have called Cafe Perks a "greasy spoon" but one of the revelations about Cafe Perks is that my breakfast of scrambled eggs, hash browns and rye toast was not greasy at all. Yes, there were fats, but nothing too extreme (although the butter on my toast might have been a bit more than I would have used had I been buttering the otherwise tasty rye). Typical diner fare that you'd expect from a restaurant in a strip mall. We drive by it daily, and decided to try it. Our waitress super nice and very attentive, she came by with water quickly. The coffee was piping hot and she came by and refilled it several times. We ended up switching tables after arriving, as a beetle was on the table and it freaked me out lol. Once we got out food, it was pretty good. They up charge for cheese and even though we stated "scrambled with American", it was just a slice on top. I hate that. The home fries were so delicious, the pancakes were the best we've had, and the bacon was crispy and salty (a preference lol). We will probably be back, but it's not really on the very top of our list lol read more

Shout out to Cafe Perks (Longwood) for an awesome breakfast. My 2 egg, ham (not cold cuts) and cheese bagel was delicious. The fruit was fresh and varied (banana, watermelon, blackberries, grapes and strawberries). Awesome! The waffle was very good. Crisp and fluffy. Bacon perfect. Y'all know I love my diners! I've been here before but under two other names. This one is my favorite! I was greeted with a sit wherever you are comfortable! I chose the 1/4 lb cheeseburger with everything! It was so good!!!!!ill. It came with delicious fries and slaw. Typical diner experience in a run down plaza. Our server was very aggressive at first and you could tell she was having a bad day. She made us feel very rushed. She became nicer as the meal went on, but it was still a turn off. The place was empty, but she told us it would take a while to cook our food. No big deal. My chicken fried steak was decent, but the fries, green beans and salad were nothing to rave about. My boyfriend got the chicken pita. I had a bite and it was really good. My friend also enjoyed her meal. After we left our waitress came running outside with a cell phone, but it didn't end up being ours. That was very nice of her. Let's start by saying I ordered my meal by phone 15 min early. I get there 20 min and nothing is ready. I wait another 10 min, Just for biscuits and gravy. then I finally get to work and eat. They cut up the biscuit's, WHY!!! Now everything is soggy. The gravy was as thick as mashed potatoes. Had to throw it away because it uneatable. Gross meal never going back. I can't say enough good things about the fish. I have had a couple of meals here. I had the burger, which was good, and it is funny that people wait in line for a burger that is not as good in the Wendy's in the same strip mall. Sally recommended the fish, even though it was lunch. It was surprisingly good. Delicate flavor, not fishy. It was so lightly breaded it took me awhile to realize it had any breading at all. She said lots of the regulars get it with breakfast. I don't normally get fish. I did not see it on the menu, so it must be limited quantities. If your waitress suggests it, get it. It is a single fillet, so you may want another entree. They had real hash browns. Eggs sunny side up cooked just right. I had rye and pumpernickel toast. It was always busy but the service was fast. I took a cinnamon pancake back to my boy, who loved it. It was caramelized on the griddle. Prices on the menu are quite reasonable. Proper diner decor with pics of the regulars on the wall. Once you get past the well used booths you can sit back, relax, and enjoy the friendly service and well prepared country cooking. I decided to go with the country ham with my eggs, bacon, and grits. I am so happy I came here. I had waken up all gloomy and therefore cranky; the rainy day didn't help neither. So, I decided to take a drive and 15 min away I found this Friendly, Excellent and very Experienced customer service Restaurant staff. The food was tasty, flavorful, well cooked and served. Tried this place for the first time this weekend. While it wasn't bad, I can't really say it was great either. When we walked in we were told to sit where ever we wanted. That's normally not an issue, but it was pretty busy and we had never been there before, so we kind of stood there for a second wondering where to go. Obviously, this is only an issue for a first timer. We sat at the one place I could clearly see was open, which was right next to the front door. That was a bad choice, as it was hot as hell in that spot. The service was fine. We didn't have to wait long for drinks or anything. No complaints here. The food was fine I guess. It was probably on par with something I could have easily made at home. That's the issue with breakfast... everyone's making the same stuff, so yours better stand out. There was nothing that stood out with this food. I ordered the "2-2-2-2" with french toast. The sausage was pretty bland and the bacon as a bit over cooked. The eggs and french toast were ok. Nothing really noteworthy. It's not so much that this place is bad or that there's something wrong with it... it's just not as good or any better than the 15 other breakfast joints that are within 2 miles of it. I can think of 4 or 5 places I would rather go to that are within a 5 minute drive from here. read more

My husband and I found this little cafe after moving to Longwood two years ago. We go once a week now and we're so glad we came across this place. There are so many breakfast spots to choose from in the area, and granted, some are bigger on atmosphere but this one has a reasonably priced menu; ample servings that are cooked just right; fast and friendly service. And you can't beat the home fries. We always peruse the lunch menu which also looks good, and say we need to try lunch sometime, but always seem to return for breakfast. This place wasn't that great. I highly doubt we will be back again. The service was incredibly slow and the food was just "ok." The restaurant looked like a hurricane had just come through, our waitress was polite but incredibly forgetful and slow. It seemed like she was in the weeds but there were tons of staff members working the floor. The waitresses couldn't have had more than a few tables each. We sat at a dirty table (which they sent us to) for at least 10 minutes before someone came by. The other tables around us were getting beverages and menus within moments of being seated. If the food was better we'd probably try it again in hopes of getting a different waitress but it was pretty bland. It also tasted like it had been sitting in the window for a bit before they brought it out. There are plenty of other breakfast joints in the area that serve similar dishes that have more flavor and are fresh. It's unlikely that I will stop by here again. read more

Tried this little hole in the wall since our other local joint has had an ownership change and has not been the same since. The staff was extremely friendly and you could tell the regulars knew the staff well. A couple walked in and the lady at the register called out their drink order to the back. We orderd one item off the specials (cinnamon almond french toast)and one staple breakfast (2 eggs with corned beef hash). Botg were great! The french toast was really delicious and the corned beef was nice and crispy on the outside which is exactly how I like it. Great prices as well, we will come again. read more

Wow. That's what I say when I'm pleasantly surprised. Debbie greeted us the at the door with a smile and offered us any available seat. Before I could blink she was front and center with coffee and juice. Bam! There it was. The food we had was as great as the service. Clearly these folks know what they are doing given the fact that 4 other people coming through the door after us were greeted by name and pleased to be there. I had a Spanish Omelette. My wife had cinnamon French toast. Both meals were a slam dunk for 5 stars. So glad I passed up Perkins!
