I just experienced the absolute worst customer service in the drive thru tonight (March, 10 at 12:57am). She was very snappy and only said that she "was only taking one order" and then after I ordered my combo and was going to order a shake... she also snapped " WE ARE OUT OF ICE CREAM"... how is streak and "SHAKE" out of ice cream. Arrived at 5:17p to place a carry out order. Was promptly seated, I informed the server that seated me that this will be a carry out, she responded with "Ok, your server will be with you in a moment, " she then departed. I called at my husband at 5:21p to get his order. Servers walked by making eye contact, none of them stopping. After gathering my purse and phone to get up to leave at 5:32p, I was finally acknowledged and told from across the restaurant by a server "I'll be there in just a minute." The server came over and took our carry out order at 5:34p. At 5:52pm a bag of food was dropped with a statement of "Here's your order" and the server walked away. I walked up to the counter getting the attention of a server who happened to be the manager. I told her that I'm sure they'd want me to pay for the order. She said "Yes, she just can't run the register." I told her that communication would be nice verses dumping my food off at running. The manager runs my card and completed the transaction. I asked her if ketchup, napkins and etc were in the bag. "They should be." I checked and there weren't any of the above. She grabbed the necessities, put them in the bag and began to leave. I spoke up and said that milkshakes are missing. She said let me check on that. They hadn't even been made yet!!! I had to wait even longer! 5:59pm I'm finally departing to go to my hotel right across the street. I get to my room, unpack the food. My husband takes one bite and informs me, his burger is cold. I check mine and our daughters. Ours and all the fries are cold. 6:06pm I call Steak and Shake requesting to speak with the manager. I informed her of the situation and irritation with the whole transaction. She responds with, there was some confusion with you being seated. I told her NO there should have been zero since I communicated with the initial person who seated me that I was there for carry out. And regardless it shouldn't have taken 11+ mins for someone to acknowledge me to place an order. Had I been dining in, I'd have been sitting there that long with no beverage. They weren't even busy at that time. I was one of 4 tables total. She offered to remake the order. I returned and had that done just to get back to my hotel and have hot burgers but cold fries. Poor service all around, there were 7 employee's that I could see, so I don't understand what their issues were. Will not ever return or recommend. read more

I love stake and shake as it is one of my favorite restaurants. But this was the worst steak and shake that I've ever been to. To begin with, me and my friends went and we all got milkshakes that were missing a fourth of them. Then after we all politely asked her for new milkshakes she got very agitated at us. Then when our food came out she keep getting the food mixed up and saying " I think this is your food". The food was awful too. All in all this is the worst stake and shake that I have been to and will never go to this one again. read more

Never have I seen a Steak & Shake operate so slowly and have such poor service. Even basic service like a drink order was wrong - asked for a water and was served a Coke... hrmm. First and foremost, this S&S has TERRIBLE management. The staff is poorly trained and there is no presence of any management in the front of the house. I have been here several times in hopes that they will improve. I have been sadly disappointed every time. It generally takes at least ten minutes just to get a drink order. I waited 2 hours for food one night when there were only 3 other tables in the restaurant. Every time I get a milkshake it comes out half melted. The only plus is that they do have affordable prices which is nice in a college town. However, there is no excuse for the shoddy management and wait staff. Definitely a no go. read more

This restaurant has been open a short time, but has been packed from day one, so it obviously fills a niche. It is bright and clean, the servers are pleasant and knowledgeable, but the food is for kids. I have eaten there twice. The first time was around 10:00 PM and the second time was about 2:00 in the afternoon. The burgers are thin, fried crisp on a grill...I can do so much better at home. The fries were limp with an odd taste both times. The only menu items I really like are the shakes--excellent! When they start serving breakfast, I might give it another try, but otherwise I will leave this place for the kids. read more

It you absolutely love the food, then feel free to go... BUT, the service at this location is completely horrible. We have given this place multiple chances to get the benefit of the doubt, but they never cease to be horrible. Many times we have been and we stand at the hostess booth for what seems like forever to even be acknowledged enough to be seated. Yesterday we went and again waited forever to be seated. The server sat us and gave us menus... but then we waited twenty full minutes and still nobody ever came to take our drink orders. We finally just got up and left. The results NEVER change for this place. I have made multiple complaints to the owner and it never gets better. I'm tired of giving it chances!! Worst Steak n' Shake in the USA! Corporate has had to step in a couple times with this place because the management is so screwed. When it takes you an hour to get your food, it's not a good thing. We went once and our waiter said that 8-10 people walked out that day because they were owed money from the owner and were never paid. For some reason they never make my milkshake correct. I order the Mint Oreo shake and it never has Oreos in it, there's only a few crumbles on top and that's all. It's never been like this in the past. I've sat in the drive-through for 30 minutes to get a milkshake! Then I hear about one of our friends son and his girlfriend. Being owed a total of $1,600 from this Steak n' Shake. Worst experience at steak and shake ever. Staff was nice but very disorganized. We ordered our food and my son asked for his shake before the food came out. He ordered a strawberry shake. After a few minutes this group Sits down next to us and they order food to go and one girl orders a strawberry shake. We wait another 5 minutes and the girl gets her strawberry shake first and says that was fast. Then our waitress comes out and said someone grabbed the shake even though I watched her hand it to the other table. Next our food comes and nothing in on the correct plates. Aside from all this instead of giving him the shake in the standard glass she brings it to him in a foam cup. The foam cup had a large hole in the side and was leaking. I took it back up to the manager and it still took another 5 minutes to bring another shake in another foam cup. Then they had the nerve to ask me about my visit. Never again. read more

How Steak n' Shake (Carrollton, GA) Can Ruin Your Day: First, let me say two things: 1- When this joint first opened, it was wonderful. That wonderfulness lasted all of about 45 days. 2- The review system, evidently, will not let you rate anything with "Half a Star". Having drawn the short straw, I was charged with picking up our lunch orders, for the guys at work. Because we had a full brace of coupons, we selected Steak n' Shake. I knew it was gonna take at least 45 minutes, because they never fail to do so, but I had high hopes, and a bright and cheery outlook, nonetheless. I went straight to the counter, and told the waitress that I had several orders. I gave them to her separately, and then began the waiting process. As an aside, let me say that I really hate that they don't offer wi-fi. If they had, I would have had time to watch Season 3 of "Justified". On second thought, it's better that I didn't...else I might have gone all "Raylan Givens" on that waitress, instead of just leaving angry, and disappointed. The Reader's Digest version is this: The waitress, for reasons that mystify me, put everything on one check. Not only THAT, but they put all my separate orders in ONE BAG. This made it damn near impossible to discern just who had what, when I returned to work...if EVERYBODY got a double Steakburger with cheese, just with different stuff on it, what she did turned what should have been a simple "This is your bag, Ricky", into a Mensa exercise. EVERYBODY was pissed. One guy, who can't eat mayo, just threw his burger in the trash, after discovering that someone had taken HIS, by mistake, and ate nothing. Brian was incensed (all of us were, actually), because they DIDN'T ACCEPT OUR COUPONS...so HIS order cost a whopping five dollars more than it should have. Everybody is angry at me, despite the fact that I voted for Subway. I would rather have a turpentine enema, than to ever go back to this place. Avoid it like the plague. read more

This has got to be the worse Steak 'n Shake in Georgia! The chili is always cold (you have to send it back to be warmed up again). No manager is EVER there to talk to. The waitresses don't know what they are doing. The air conditioning is blowing so hard you have to hold on to everything on the table or its in the floor. My husband and I came from work and wanted to eat there, I work in the office at huge company for Carrollton's standards and my husband is a machinist, but he wasn't filthy or had torn clothes. We were led to a table, 4 other tables were occupied. There were 2 or 3 servers that kept talking to each other in the back. A couple that came in a few minutes after us, was seated and soon waited on, but we still had not been able to place an order or get a glass of water. When the server then started cleaning up a table one over from ours instead of taking our order, after waiting for over 10 minutes, we got up and left. Nobody stopped us, it was like they didn't even care that they were losing business. Not going back and making sure to spread the word among my co-workers. Horrible!!!! Waited in drive thru for 30 minutes last night just to get to the place order station then was horribly greeted! There were 4 people in the car with different orders. My 10 year old grandson orders and says he wanted a triple burger with lettuce, tomato, and meat only. The staff said, "I don't have time to play!" Though the food was decent, they were very rude to my husband when he asked if there was a discount (which we know there is) and didn't give it to us. My husband was very polite and the young man looked at him as though he was stupid and said "nah, we don't" with an eye roll.
