I had a fantastic night at Steak 38! First off, don't judge a book by its cover--the outside sits right next to a motel, which isn't exactly glamorous, but once you step inside, it's a whole different story. The interior has this old-school Rat Pack vibe that makes you feel like you should be sipping martinis in a tux. I started with the fried zucchini and marinara sauce--crispy, flavorful, and basically begging to be eaten by the dozen. The house bread with seasoned butter? Dangerous. I could have made a meal out of that alone. For my entrée, I had the ribeye steak, medium rare, cooked perfectly, with mashed potatoes and green beans that were classic and comforting. The flavors were solid, the portions generous, and every bite hit that sweet spot of "just got paid its Friday night." And then there was the Aviation cocktail--phenomenal. Balanced, smooth, and dangerously easy to drink. Service was friendly and attentive, without hovering like a bad date. Overall, Steak 38 is a little hidden gem: ignore the motel, follow the bread crumbs inside, and you'll find yourself having a meal that's old-school classy, delicious, and just the right amount of fun.

Had been given a gift certificate for a celebration so I was looking forward to the evening. My dining partner and I shared a few dishes. Enjoyed the table side bread and roasted green peppers. Lobster bisque was tasty although very thin. Not what I expected. Calamari was good although a bit overdone. I had prime rib, ordered medium. It came out a bit more done than what I expected although to be honest, the restaurant was is very dimly lit. Green beans were delicious, mashed potatoes were ok. We shared NY cheese cake which was fine. Please be aware that the actual price is higher than the online menu. The online menu lists the prime rib as $39 but currently is $49. Parking is sketchy. There is a parking valet available. He waved me through and told me to find parking at the motel. The Tesla behind me got the preferential treatment.

I've been driving past this place for years, and last night the plan was to go to Fleming's for Tomahawk Tuesday for a date night. But a last minute change landed us here, and will probably become a regular thing. The complimentary valet was definitely a plus in this cold weather, although I wanted him to come inside. The weather was biting. Upon walking in, we were greeted and sat immediately. It's a dimly lit, intimate space and appeared to be great for family outings or a simple date night. The wine and bourbon selection reeled me in, but the prime rib made me a fan! It was soooo tender and delicious. The table side Caesar salad was definitely an experience. I can't say that I've been somewhere and watched them make authentic Caesar dressing in front of me. That butter cake was the perfect end to a great meal and I can't even remember the last time I actually finished or even ordered a dessert. This was absolutely worth it. If you're looking for quality steak, nice ambiance, and intimate atmosphere for your next night out, I recommend stopping in. It'll probably become your go to as it's surely going to become ours.

The food was delicious. The drinks were strong but tasty. The banana foster table show was amazing. The outside does not compare to the inside ambiance. The service was good the were friendly and accommodating. You have to make a reservation because they fill up fast

Traditional steak place for the fancy date night Came here as a date night option with the girlfriend. She really enjoyed the table side service and everything but the steaks and wanted to share that with me. Parking was...not the greatest. It's a small place that shares its parking with a little motel. If there's no valet, parking is "at your own risk". The service was a little lackluster from our server. She had a lot of backup from the rest of the staff though, who would fix the mistakes right after she would make them. We got the table side Caesar salad, which they make in front of you. A good Caesar dressing made fresh is a rarity now-a-days, and was a treat. We got her favorite dish, the mussels italiano. Lots of meaty mussels in a very rich but not too oily sauce. The only detractor was the table bread was overly dense and not a good broth vessel. We skipped the entree and went for the other table service they offer - bananas foster. They came over with a cart, got the butter nice and bubbly, added brown sugar, then some rum on a nice flambé. It's fun to watch, and who doesn't like burned dark rum bananas with butter over ice cream?! The ice cream was a little icy with little vanilla flavor, but it's all about the topping on that one (the boozy butter bananas). Put that on top of some French toast with a scoop of vanilla ice cream, and you got a good brunch item. I give it a 4 because although this is a great place for a date night, the price is appropriate for a steak place. It's not cheap, and it's good to try once but there's little to keep one coming back. Once you get the shows, there's very little variance to the menu and not much else to look forward to. That topped with the hiccups in our experience that night a less than 5 star affair. But it's still good, and a nice spot to celebrate with others. Be prepared for a pricy meal, but also expect a different level of experience versus your standard dining spaces.

I went for the happy hour food and would go back. The goat cheese crostini was my favorite it is almost like a sweet bruschetta with nuts on top. The prime rib egg rolls were juicy and had the best sauce ever. I am a big calamari girl and the calamari was great but just so you can recognize how good the other two foods were, it was not as big as a highlight compared to teh crostini and prime rib egg rolls. I got a cosmo. This is going to be a horrible view especially since I went during happy hour- but it was painfully strong. I couldn't finish it

On a recommendation of a friend and after reading the reviews, I was really excited to go here. We had driven past here literally 100s of times on our way to and from our kids practice and had overlooked the restaurant on a very busy intersection with no windows attached (sort of) to a motel. I actually think this added to the experience. It feels like a hidden gem. The Caesar salad made table side lived up to the hype as did the filet and banana foster. Great place for a special occasion.

Wonderful dining experience from beginning to end. Starting with complimentary valet - that was friendly, professional, and attentive. Upon entry i was greeted right at the door, it was much darker inside then I would have expected, that might be difficult for some to read the menu. But very intimate dining in smaller rooms so you never feel overwhelmed. I had the mussels and a filet. Both beautifully executed both in skill and flavor. Will definitely be back. Highly recommend for an intimate date night or celebration. Personally I just enjoyed the good meal!!

Not sure what happened here. The experience at this place was a NIGHTMARE! We arrived for our 7pm reservation right on time, however, we were told our table was not ready and were asked to wait at the bar. After 12 minutes of sitting at the bar we were finally served water. Unfortunately, there was food floating in the water. After about 20 minutes at the bar we were finally served, and about 5 minutes later we were seated at our table. We were able to order drinks immediately with our server. Great! Unfortunately this did not mean we would get our drinks in a timely fashion. We ordered one glass of wine and one smoked old fashioned. Since the old fashioned was served table side, the server brought over the cart to make the drink, but did not return for 10 minutes. During this time, the cart was borrowed to serve another drink, which seemed very unprofessional. Our server finally returned and served our drinks which were good. After 50 minutes of arriving, we were finally able to order. Next, we had the soup course. Might have been a communication issue here, but we ordered two soups and were served one. This was quickly corrected. Around 820pm, an hour and 20 minutes after we arrived, we were told our entrees would be served, skipping over the salad course. Turns out they forgot about the salads, even though they offered them complimentary for our initial wait. During the salad course, we were served our side for dinner but not our main entrees. They quickly replaced the side since our salad was so late and entrees were not served, and at this time were offered a free dessert. Okay, appreciated. Once the entrees arrived and we were starving, we bit in to find a burnt crab cake and tasteless steak. Soup was excellent, salad and entrees were subpar. Come to find the bill and it was an extra $30 for the brunt crab cake. The employees were very nice, and did try to make up for it, but unfortunately the experience was just terrible overall. Would not return.

Still the same reaction from my original post... Wow. We came for happy hour and sat at the bar. Dawn and Robbie were amazing bartenders. Happy hour had great drink prices and great apps that you can need at the bar. And the drinks are drinks, not watered down one bit! We then had dinner at the bar as well. And the steaks are still top notch. I had a ribeye marinated and soy with a pineapple salsa on top, basically it was a teriyaki steak. But on another level it was so tender and so good! The crab cakes as always are huge and delicious with barely any filler just all crab. The calamari with hot peppers next level... Make sure you save room for dessert because the butter cake with the salted caramel sauce is unreal. And there's not enough words to describe the interior. Reminds me of my Italian Grandpa's basement, with Frank Sinatra playing!

My friend & I traveled from Maryland to visit Steak 38 for her birthday. I ordered the ribeye 16 oz with a side piece (similar to a side car but strawberry is used in place of orange). My friend ordered the surf & turf with the Lady Elena as her drink. We also got an extra side of creamed spinach. For dessert, we chose the vanilla buttercake a la mode. We enjoyed our meal and the atmosphere. Pete was our waiter. He was nice and helpful by making suggestions. The owner also came and spoke to us! It was a great night and experience. Thank you.

Came here with a friend for a belated birthday early dinner. I was kind of surprised by the fact that it was attached to a motel. From the outside it looks a little weird. Also, the website had a dress code but when we arrived everyone was dressed super casually. When you enter inside, it has a nice intimate and quaint vibe. The hostess was warm and friendly. When we sat down we were given bread, garlic butter and green peppers. Our servers Pete and Joe were really nice and professional. For my entree, I had 16 oz Ribeye. It was seasoned really well cooked perfectly. The mash potatoes and string beans were great sides. The roasted duck was tender and flavorful. When I booked the reservation, I put the occasion as birthday. I didn't even have to tell Pete about bringing a dessert. He already brought one out with a candle after Joe took our plates. I really appreciated that. The dessert was tiramisu. I don't normally like tiramisu but this one was moist and wasn't overly coffee flavored. I enjoyed my experience here overall.

Ask the Community - Steak 38

Is it as good as it used to be?

Others tell me it's the same. I can attest to the quality, value, and professional waitstaff, bartending, and overall excellence. I've been there times in the past few months.

Any idea on dress code for this place?

It is generally casual in the bar area and business casual is appropriate for the restaurant.

Rachel, our server, was truly exceptional. From the moment we sat down, she was attentive, warm, and incredibly thoughtful--especially with my son. When the power unexpectedly went out at the Cherry Hill Mall due to the windstorm, Rachel and the staff turned what could have been a disruption into something special. She brought us extra bread and surprised us with a champagne toast for the adults and carbonated apple juice for my son, which made him feel incredibly celebrated. The food was outstanding. The bone-in, dry-aged New York strip may have been one of the most tender, perfectly cooked, and well-seasoned steaks I've ever had. Every side was just as impressive--the truffle mac and cheese, Brussels sprouts, and crab fried rice were all absolutely delicious. Dessert was the perfect finish to an already amazing meal. Beyond Rachel, the entire team deserves recognition. The general managers were actively walking the floor, checking in on guests, and the bus staff was attentive and professional. The coordination, hospitality, and genuine care shown by everyone made the evening feel special despite the circumstances. This was hospitality at its best. From the outside, Eddie V's already gives off a polished, upscale feel, and once inside, the jazz playing softly in the background immediately set the tone. We grabbed seats at the bar, which I highly recommend. Pro tip: arrive early if you want bar seating, the bartenders are extremely friendly, genuinely engaging, and it is fun to watch them craft the drinks. We took full advantage of the happy hour menu with a dozen oysters, Wagyu beef sliders, a dirty martini, and a glass of Caymus. The happy hour pricing is a solid deal and the food quality was excellent. Another couple joined us, so we moved to a table and continued into dinner. Appetizers included a Caesar salad, burrata and beet salad, and lobster bisque. The burrata and beet salad was bright, fresh, and zesty and really stood out. The lobster bisque was the one miss of the night, served lukewarm with only a small piece of lobster. For mains, we ordered the Chilean sea bass prepared Chinese-style and the A5 Wagyu dumplings. The sea bass was exceptional, flavorful, perfectly cooked, and generously portioned. The wine list is phenomenal with great options by the glass and bottle, and the cocktail program is clearly handled by skilled professionals. This is also a great choice for a romantic night out. The space is dimly lit with unique lighting elements, paired with live jazz that creates a relaxed, intimate atmosphere without feeling stuffy. If you are in the area, this place is absolutely worth a visit, especially during happy hour. We will definitely be back.

We did arrive a half hour early and did not expect to be seated early, however, after more than 15 minuets past our reservation time we decided to sit at the bar, since there were 2 empty seats, instead of waiting for the table. I ordered a lemon drop martini and my wife ordered a jack and Coke. Both drinks were good but we finished them before we could catch the attention of the bartender to put in apps. When we finally got their attention we ordered another round of drinks, the calamari and a butternut squash soup. The apps came out fairly fast. The calamari was ok, it did not come with any dipping sauce, it was pretty dry. The butternut squash soup was inedible, terrible texture, super grainy. When we got the bartenders attention we told her the soup was inedible, she acknowledge our concerns and cleared our plates. The bartender spent so long spending time at the other end of the bar talking to all the older patrons that my wife said we should just go to Applebees. When she finally got back to us we input our order, strip steak au poivre with courvoisier sauce (medium well), roasted chicken breast, spinach, and mashed potatoes. Again the food came out fairly fast. The steak was so over cooked that when I cut it the plate was moving all over the bar. The sauce was delicious and if cooked correctly the steak would have been amazing. The chicken was was cooked fine but tasted like the grill top it was cooked on. It was supposed to be served over risotto but the "risotto" was hard and sitting in a puddle of broth? I thought the spinach was too salty but my wife said it was good. The best thing of the night and savior of the whole meal was the mashed potatoes. Whoever made the mashed potatoes loves potatoes. They were great. When we got the check it came to almost $300 and they didn't even take that terrible soup off. Fine, we ordered it, we didn't like it, but after everything else, besides the mashed potatoes, including the service being below average the least they could have done was taken off the soup. Also for a restaurant with a posted dress code it was unacceptable to allow people to come in with pajamas. Even in their pajamas, standing behind us, they received better service than we did.

Service, personability, mixology skills were all top-notch. They fit the sophisticated vibe of the restaurant perfectly. We started with drinks of course! A Stoli Elit Martini with a twist, a Dirty Martini, an Apple Butter Old Fashioned, and a Tito's and Club. The drinks came out beautifully. Smooth, chilled. I ordered the Apple Butter Old Fashioned as I was intrigued, but skeptical. While I thought it was good, I'd prefer a regular or Smoked Old Fashioned to the Apple Butter. My wife loved it though. We ordered lots of food to split and each appetizer we picked was as good if not better than the next. The Tuna Nachos fresh and had a tropical, savory flavor with pineapple mixed in. The Kona Tips were tender, full of flavor coming from the Kona crust and sautéed mushrooms/onions, and were served in a skillet full of sauce perfect for soaking up with bread. I actually liked the Kona Tips appetizer more than I liked the Kona Crust I got on my NY Strip I ordered last year (the Strip was great I'd just prefer no Kona crust on the entree). The Flatbread De Jour was a Kona Tip flatbread, which you may call us crazy for ordering two Kona Tip inspired appetizers, but the Kona Tips are just that good. The Oysters we had were small (just how I like them) and were up there with the best Oysters I've had. We finished up with Fried Calamari. They were lightly battered, fried nicely, tender, and served over a bed of different hot peppers (when I say hot, I mean it!). Everything was delicious and there wasn't one appetizer we chose that I wouldn't order again or recommend to others. We did order a few more drinks throughout the night -- another Elit Martini and a Hendrix Martini with the appetizers and then Bailey's on the rocks and Frangelico on the rocks as after dinner, dessert drinks. We ordered a Brownie Sundae for the table for my wife's birthday while she was excused from the table and the bartender brought it out with a lit candle. The bartender also brought out a complementary miniature Crème Brûlée for my wife as she acknowledged The Chop House's Crème Brûlée as one of her favorites earlier in the night when we were talking about the menu. I thought the entire night went as good as you could have hoped. Valet, bar service, food, drinks, desserts, atmosphere. Everything was amazing and most importantly my wife had a great birthday. This is two years in a row we celebrated her birthday at The Chop House and I wouldn't mind seeing this turn into her birthday tradition.

He checked on us through out our meal to ensure we were enjoying our meal. We had the calamari and dozen raw oysters which were both fresh and delicious. We had the Chophouse steak experience which worked out perfectly for our table of four and actually could've feed 5 easily. It consisted of 4 cuts of steaks and my favorites were the filet and ribeye. They were seasoned perfectly and grilled medium rare. Our sides were mashed potatoes, CH hash browns, and grilled asparagus. The weakest link was the asparagus which were small in size but still tasty. I will definitely be back based on service, food and value. This is a perfect restaurant for celebrations, dates and casual dining. Definitely a gem of a restaurant. Will be back sooner than later.

And they couldn't seat us in the outdoor patio that we requested. But once we sat down, we were pleasantly surprised. Almost everything on the menu looked interesting. Everything we tried was really good. The service was excellent. And the live music was good too. And unlike many places, they cooked our steak to the temp we asked for. Surprisingly it wasn't busy on a Saturday night so figured I would share a review. Hopefully they start to pick up.

It was also Mother's Day brunch which I believe may have played a role in the overall experience too given the number of tables they were turning over, but with serving just a buffet and being what seemed like properly staffed I expected better. The food - horrible! I mean the warming dishes weren't even ignited and for the ones that weren't empty, the remaining scraps of food were overcooked, cold and beyond bland. Honestly better tasting food at a Chinese buffet. The "raw bar" was the best thing available - and that's only because they had nice sized shrimp but were out of whatever items were also supposed to be a part of it. My Bloody Mary was atrocious! Tomato juice and tobacco was basically what it was. Our server John was really nice and energetic and doing the best he could - everything he could control was controlled so he deserves more than the 2 stars this review is receiving. Oh and the best part, this was $75 per person and not including a single mimosa. But they did give all the women a single stem rose when the check was requested tho lol.

Out of all of my visits, my favorite is the weekend brunch menu. There are so many yummy things to choose from like the breakfast burrito, the banana Forester French toast, the various of Benedict's including crab, and there were a bunch of various breakfast sandwiches, but the most menu appealing one that I liked is the pork roll. On my last trip I wound getting a chicken brie apples bacon on brioche bread. It was a special of the day. From the moment I bid into it, I knew I would love it for the savoriness, the crisp and sweet tasting bread. There was a side of potatoes... Very nicely seasoned and the perfect crunch to them. On my last visit, it was a total of 10 people in our group and the customer service was great. We were all able to pay with separate checks... Always a perk. The waiter was super super friendly and kept our coffee refills going. Inside it is busy which could lead away from the quiet ambience, but I didn't mind it at all.

Former home vibe, i was one of the earliest weekday diners. Since it a solo dinner, I opted for a few sides: Kimchi rice Cucumber salad Brussel sprouts (no meat or butter) The cucumber salad was so good, I ordered a second portion!! The tofu burnt ends and bbq jack fruit sounded so intriguing that I almost begged the kind server to ask the chef if they could serve a side portion. Otherwise the bbq is served in pound increments. For my lucky tummy, they obliged and wow those are both delicious vegan options! Maybe next time, i will visit here earlier during my trip to be able to take home leftovers. Booth was cozy and love that water bottle to refill my glass is on my table which sounds weird but I drink alot of water! Small place , would recommend reservations for weekend dining. Parking lot was limited too. Enjoy!
