Was here for years, they took over and raised the rent every 3-9 months. Kept breaking the rules. Always had rat Pooh and took away bathroom use. This is of public record online. They've lost my keys twice. Had to cut lock for inspection. Keep in mind that other storages don't have such inspections. Bum city. The housing project of storages. Urine and trash in elevators. No restrooms. Bums are not only tenants(not living there), some hang out on the sidewalk that borders the building, drinking and smoking pot. Bums come in building with baskets stuffed with blankets etc. To be fair, all are friendly. The staff is friendly too. See the bad reviews? They're not lying!! Of course property management will counter, but I guarantee they wouldn't rent there. Extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence, so go see for yourselves! I wrote to these dirt bags about how people steal your most important things when they bid and win your things. I was referring to videos I lost with my mother. Nothing of value for those scum. I had gotten disabled and was bedridden. Lost all my stuff. I had remembered reading about how these thieves should save such things. I asked this company about this. They called me the next day around 4:00 ET. I said call me tomorrow after 9AM. I am on my way out. I hung up. These scum bags called me 17 TIMES JUST TO BE SCUM. I SAID I WOULD TALK THE NEXT DAY. They didn't seem very worried waiting to call at 4:00. But I was going to the store and said tomorrow. THESE JERKS WERE RUDE. My time isn't important. These slime balls called me 17 times from 3-4 different numbers. All within minutes from California. CHILDISH. This company isn't very kind. Seems they don't care about anyone but themselves. STAY AWAY. They have 8 yr old children doing phone calls. HOW WOULD YOU FEEL ABOUT YOUR PERSONEL ITEMS, WITH JERKS LIKE THIS RUNNING THE SHOW! 17 times within 4 minutes. STAY AWAY! This is one of the worst business ever! I took over a friends storage and I paid the rent for same! I was allowed to store my items and they allowed me to do so! Christine and Joe were amenable with the arrangement. Christine is the culprit here, not Joe. All of a sudden I was not allowed in, I had a brand new full length mink coat in that unit along with several expensive items that I inherited from my deceased mother and Christmas gifts for my grandchildren! I have receipts for everything that I had in that unit! In my my proffession we prosecuted people like this and put them in jail for doing such! I am working with the highest law enforcement agency in our country and I will see that everyone involved, and I mean everyone involved, will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law! The old adage that states,"you are either part of the problem or part of the solution" is applicable here! There was a viable solution, but due to people who believe that they are immune to being prosecuted will find out how fall they can fall! This place is facing a huge precedence in false advertising and will owe big bucks! Buyer beware! Do not rent here! The gentleman who answered the phone was trying. You could tell this is his 1st job, not yet gone to college with a limited vocabulary. He just didn't know anything but what they let him say. He finally says, I can't and just hands the phone to a lady with the same limitations but knew how to scam. This a bait and switch. Anyone who has rented here who hasn't actually got their 1st month free, join this cause against them. Civilians will be against the employee and managers for knowingly pushing false advertisements of a FREE 1st month. They make you pay the prorated amount plus admin fee so your 1st month free could be $250. If you move in on the 2nd than you pay 1 day minus the full amount. And get the 2nd month free. They are locking you into 2 months, illegally and fraudulently. It says call to book, book reservation here. It doesn't explain this anywhere until you ask why. So they rope you in with hopes it's too late and they got you and you're out front with a moving truck and bait and switch you. It's illegal to do that. It's a scam. According to their ad which I have screenshots before the switch it again, a person should be nothing. Free is free. Free isn't a $28 admin fee. Free month one day might be more like it. Now if the wanted to say you move in on the 20th and we take payment on the 1st than you owe the 2nd month on time like everyone else plus 10 days than that's truth. If you owe 10 days on the 20th and full month 10 days later than that would be truth but they didn't. They chose to lie. They chose to trick you. What will they do when there's a fire for water damage? Trick you and lie and say there's no coverage. Someone broke in your unit. Wasn't us. Go somewhere else! read more

Thank God I have never needed to pay to store anything. I like to get rid of my stuff, recycle it, ask my brother to put it in his basement or donate it to charity before belongings accumulate to the point where I have to make use of a storage facility. That being said, a friend told me that Secure Self Storage has many customers who are "habitation-challenged" and they make up a lot of the customers of the Storage company. Nothing wrong with that. Being located along Rosecrans, near the Trolley station and on the side of the County Mental Health building brings a certain type of clientele to your doorstep. But manager and co-owner Sarina told me that no matter what the people look or seem like, they all get the same good customer service from Secure Self Storage. Members of a church ministry group who work with the local homeless will oftentimes rent storage units in order to help people get themselves situated or placed in rehab treatments. In fact, Sarina told me that it is the homeless customers who are often her best customers. They keep a good look out for each others things and are very protective of both Sarina and her husband, who have run Secure together now for 15 years. An older lady I know who likes to shop a lot does rent a storage unit here and I have given her a lift at times to pay her bills. Secure always seems to be clean, well-run, and properly managed. Sarina does admit that, once in a while, some of the street people can get out of hand. But she uses her "motherly" skills to get them back in line and remind them to take their meds! 5 YELP STARS for a great storage facility that treats people as humans. read more

I have been at this storage Facility for over 3 years and must say this is a reliable and convenient facility. Located close to Old Town and across from the commuter station its very convenient. I started out with a smaller unit and moved up when I needed more space. As a veteran I must say that the Old Man is very professional and he takes the time to say hello to you and help you with any storage questions you have. Zorina is also very sweet and is extremely responsive to the customer's needs. They ALWAYS call a few days before your due date to remind you about your payment. I usually pay over the phone right then and there; no other storage facility does that!!! They have a regular trash and a recycling dumpster and you can use it if you ask. Showed up 2 minutes before their opening time and the manager was outside. I asked him if myself and the other two people could come in, he said no. Which was fine, aggravating but no big deal, they open at 8 I will wait until 8. So then he goes inside and left the gate locked until 8:10... What Jerks. Add this to the dirty, badly lighted, smells like urine facility, and you will see why another storage facility might be a better choice. Whenever I'm in need of a storage unit I always come here. I would say it's about my third time storing with them and I've never had a problem. The staff is very friendly, and the units are fairly priced. Also the units seem to be larger and cheaper than other Storage facilities I have used in the past. I had my padlock cut here and an item stolen. I was not contacted to say my padlock had been cut. When I went to my storage unit to put something in it, I noticed that the owner of Secure Self Storage had put one of their locks on my unit. When I asked them when they had put that lock on my unit they could not give me an answer. I'm not saying they had stolen something out of my unit but they sure did help hide whoever did. read more

I've had a storage unit here for about 7 months now and the staff is absolutely great. I recently had an issue with the unit next to me being infested with roaches and as a result the critters were making their way to my unit. As soon as the staff was aware of the problem it was fixed immediately and I haven't seen a single bug since then.
