I rarely leave reviews, but I feel it's important to share an honest experience for anyone considering storing their personal belongings here. I was informed by Kettner Storage that my lock was allegedly loose, and without my authorization, they placed their own lock on my unit. While I understand security protocols are important, the way the situation was handled afterward was incredibly disappointing and unnecessarily difficult. I live far from the facility, and with the cost of gas and time, I sent my assistant to simply check the unit. Despite calling from the phone number listed on my account -- the same number they have previously used to contact me regarding payments and account information -- my assistant was denied access because they refused to provide the key to the lock THEY placed on my unit. After multiple calls with the supervisor, confirming my identity over the phone, acknowledging who I was, and having my account information in front of them, they still insisted I personally drive down with my physical ID to access my own belongings. What made this more frustrating was being told "not to take it personally," when the reality is that this caused a very personal inconvenience involving my time, travel, expenses, and stress. There were many reasonable solutions that could have been offered: * Allowing me to email a copy of my ID for verification * Adding my assistant temporarily to the account * Verifying identity through the account phone number and information already on file Instead, I was met with inflexibility and what I believe was dishonesty. I was later told that on April 16th I had allegedly been informed that I would need to appear in person with ID to access the unit. That conversation never happened. The discussion on that date was regarding adding my card to autopay. For people who store important belongings -- especially if you travel frequently, live far away, or may need emergency access through a trusted assistant or family member -- this is something to seriously consider. If a lock issue occurs and you cannot physically appear immediately, accessing your own belongings may become extremely difficult. Storage companies should not only provide security, but also professionalism, honesty, hospitality, and practical solutions for their customers. Unfortunately, that was not my experience here. I highly recommend renting elsewhere. Management is terrible, slow, and lazy. They have also told me they discriminate as they are "selective on who rents here". Past the basics, they can't be selective, which raises red flags. Marina Mosley also harassed me with multiple eviction notices (see Google reviews for an lengthy review), which is illegal, also did it in retaliation, & I believe its all out of discrimination (I'm neurodivergent). I try to avoid her when I do visit the facility, but she likes to randomly pop up. I always felt "forced to have a conversation". They are also legally required to prorate the rent for the eviction. The online pay, wouldn't let me prorate it, per CA law. They took the entire payment which voids the excessive eviction notices in one week. She also taped my personal information to my unit for the world to see my information, when I'm a protected Domestic Violence survivor. She's exposing me to personal harm. She doesn't even follow her own lease provisions. I own multiple businesses, and I would not allow my employees to treat clients with such disrespect, what feels like discrimination & retaliatory responses. Ive paid on time, follow their rules, avoid Marina Mosley, & limit my visits because it feels hostile. I'm unsure at this point what I've done lmao I will be back to get my belongings with the police this weekend. read more

Update: Might I add that I have used many, many storage units throughout California for over 40 years. This place tops the list, even at today's prices. Always kept clean and accessible so you're confident that your 'life's treasures and memories' are kept safe and secure. One less thing to worry about right?! They keep their gates open ALL DAY despite the lies they say when you check in with them. When I checked in 3 weeks ago they said they were always closed during business hours and I had to drive early to see for myself they had lied about this. In addition all units have a 2 foot gap at the top of them between the wall and the ceiling for "air flow" that anyone could jump into. If you are checking in ask point blank about the hours 10 hours per day that anyone can just stroll into your unit. This is not the level of secuity I paid for Goons in the office wouldn't take my complaint seriously, ignored my emails, wouldn't take phone calls, and were unwilling to meet to discuss the unsatisfactory security concerns so im left leaving this review (can you believe they have the lack of decency to say "we're open to your concerns" after that?- shout outs to the manager Carlos who pretended he wasn't there and hid behind the poor receptionist who did nothing wrong) . Further, they were unwilling to put up a sign warning against holding doors open for people- these sliding doors thst are commonly held open are the only line of defense seeing as the gates are now always open open and all storage unites have 2 feet of open space between the wall and the ceiling that anyone could slip into. It doesn't matter if a unit is locked if someone can jump in and out. Oh yeah did I mention the only cameras they have are the (open gate) parking areas and not the units themselves so good luck proving anything to insurance when you get robbed trusting your property to this place. Great storage unit and amazing manager! We feel very safe keeping our stuff here (people and pest wise). The location is close to us downtown and easily accessible from the freeway or back roads. The move in specials drew us in and the rates were very reasonable to keep us here. The manager Marina was super friendly and really took care of us when we decided to upgrade our unit and she showed us the best options near the elevator before switching us over. We shopped around on different storage units to book and have been at others in the past and this has been our fav so far. The one thing to note is the hours to access units ends at 7pm. That works for our schedule but something to be aware of and plan for. We highly recommend this location =] read more

Kettner Self Storage is a new self-storage provider (it has only been opened for 5 months). As an FYI, Google Maps has not updated its Street View of Kettner Blvd for a while now, and images of the storage facility were outdated (pre-construction). It is a nice facility with a new-paint smell. I researched over 20 self-storage facilities, and this place had the best price for what I needed. Considering the cost and convenient location, choosing Kettner was a no-brainer. The only drawback is the hours (7 am--7 pm), but you can't get everything you want. And a big shout-out to the manager, Marina. She was very friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable. She has a great sense of humor and she made the sign-up process easy and seamless. read more
