I loved this place. The outdoor seating was so quaint, it was like being at a little bistro in Europe. The server was attentive and gave good recommendations. I was traveling with a grown man that has the palette of a toddler. If it is not a burger and Miller Lite he is not interested. So this place was a stretch. Exotic cheese and micro brews. She gave us the micro brew closest to a Miller Lite for him, and I went with a smoked Gouda with crackers. I tried one of the bitters, it was awesome. A random side note: people that have a cult following to any beer- it can be bitter or taste like armpit but they like their canned beer because it is consistently bitter and armpit flavored. They don't like change, so microbrews are scary. For me, this cafe was refreshing change. For my partner it was culture and strangeness being forced upon him. There is a sterile pub down the street....we visited there next and had a Miller Lite for compromise.

Fun find when visiting Normal. Nice variety of wine by the glass and bottle. Great atmosphere and the staff were very helpful but not pretentious. We had wine and a cheese plate (loved the blue and mustard cheddar available the day we were there). Wine choices were varied and responsibly priced for us Seattites visiting . This is definitely not a college hang out which we appreciated in the middle of a huge campus. Parking is definitely a problem in the area and we were disappointed they didn't offer a flight or tasting options. We don't by bottles we don't know without tasting first. We'll be back next time we're in town.

My wife and I where stopping over for the night and found this place. First of all, we love wine bars, or at least I do. The staff, excellent. The atmosphere, excellent. The music, stuff on my play list. Outdoor seating, great....oh and the place does have craft beer for you non-oenophiles. So, get out of the hotel bar and go to Stave, and if you don't know what a stave is, then Google it. They do have food, the charcuterie looks great, didn't have one, again char-cut-ter-ie, look it up. The definition is also on the menu.

Had a nice afternoon drink and charcuterie. Nice ambiance. Staff is friendly . I would like some cheeses at room temp.

Wine bars like Stave have begun to rival the local hangouts such as coffee shops and local bars. Stave offers a taste before you buy philosophy and they also have a light food menu. Wine bars put a new spin on wine tasting. Stave seeks to remove the association of wine with upscale clientele and overwhelming wine lists, & replaces it with a more casual and relaxing atmosphere. They look to embrace the intellectual stimulation linked to wine and offer an alternative to the bar scene. It is less crowded than traditional bars and has a more intimate appeal. Try it out!

It was 9:40 pm on Saturday night and I called to see if we could get take out. Beth answered the phone and was so overly pleasant . I was worried it was to close to closing to order and she happily took my order. We drove to Stave to pick up our order and were treated amazing even thou it was 15 minutes till closing time. We have been here several times previously and have always had a great experience! This place is awesome! The staff are all knowledgeable and friendly! Thank you Stave for being great!

Interior design is authentic and sets the mood.

Amazing selection of wine and beer. Friendly and knowledgeable staff. Cool atmosphere. Definitely coming back!

    Walking in is so welcoming!

The wines are winners and the staff is knowledgeable, courteous, and kind. A great place to share a bottle, some cheese and charcuterie with friends...a friend, or that special someone. It truly is a place for almost everyone. For beer drinkers, there are a few on tap and a few in bottles/cans. YUM!

Extreme rude service over ISU family weekend. From the owner no doubt! Don't see this place being open for very long.

Ask the Community - Stave Wine Bar & Market

Are they serving any flight options yet?

They don't have wine flights on the menu, but you can order a half pour of any of the wines to make your own flight. It's a great way to taste multiple options before ordering a full glass or bottle.

Far away enough from the craziness of the college campus and downtown bars but still not too far away. They have events and food trucks, so there's some good times to be had. A brewery that's located in a shopping plaza with a patio and indoor area. It's bigger than it looks. There's arcade games and even more tables upstairs. For sure anyone can find something fun. It's about $7 a pint. Last time I got the Show Me Your Stem. Good one. This is a pumpkin pie wheat. On the rim is graham crackers. The rest of the beers include IPAs as well as wheat beers in flavors such as blueberry and peach. For sure we could come here again. It's located on Empire Street in a shopping plaza. There's no food menu but usually there's a food truck.

We enjoyed all of our stops, but Keg Grove continued getting recommendations from locals. As a result, we had to stop by. And, in the end, Keg Grove WAS our favorite! From the moment we walked in, we were greeted with a kind warm welcome from the bartender. The space was also welcoming. It was wide open, clean, and spacious. My husband each got our own flights (see pictured). We loved all 8 of the beers that we got, but here were our 4 favorites: 1. #3 Malo Pina Colada Wheat, 2. #1 Holey Jeans Blueberry Wheat with a sugar rimmed glass, 3. #11 Love is Love Orange Guava Passionfruit Hard Seltzer, and 4. #7 Cornfuzed Corn Ale. There was not a bad beer and there were several more we would have loved to try. We ended up getting a 4 pack of the Hokey Jeans because the Malo was sold out. Prices are great, portions are reasonable, and presentation was solid. There was nothing to complain about and much to praise. We will definitely be back at Keg Grove the next time we are in town! Thanks for a great visit!

Emancipation is a brewery not a lot of people have heard of because it's not close to anything of course. Has a surprising amount of variety on tap and in cans to go. They may not have a whole lot but everything is full of flavor and quenches one's thirst. Even with it being a smaller brewery it still has quite a lot. It's got several of their own beers on tap along with a few others. There's also more cans in a refrigerator. Has the basics along with a few interesting ones. More than just the IPAs and the usual. It's about $7 a pint. The Farmer's Favorite is the IPA and is a pretty good medium one that's crisp and smooth. Has a few things to snack on here. It's about $3 for the Krack Mix. Basically like Chex Mix but it's made locally. They also will let you bring in stuff. Great place that's pretty hard to find the first time going here.
