hand down best bbq place in Maine and the sauce is amazing I can go on but yall need to try it and the best customer service ever

Nice find on our northeastern holiday. Just tooling around finding things to see and eat along the way. I am not really sure what part of Maine we were actually even in. We wander a good bit when we travel. We actually went to place next door first, but this seemed so much more lively and fun! Open air bar for the most part. Great vibe. My kind of place. The folks operating the place were nice and I enjoyed myself immensely here. They take good care of you. On to the food... That was the best freaking chili dogs I have ever had! Chili was great, smothered in queso, and I mean smothered. Fresh cut fries too!! Swoon. I wish I had this in my belly every single day. I am a five star kind of guy, right?!? Or it could have been I was so stinking stoned that it felt that way! Either way.... Killer chili dog! I don't even remember what town we were in or how we got there. I had to google the place to figure out where we were. C had the pulled brisket French Dip! Borealis bread, Swiss cheese, caramelized onions, and housemade au jus. Amazing sandwich! The baked beans were very good as well. I am glad I took a bunch of pics and the food stood out so much so that it stayed locked in my memory banks so well. It was six months ago and I still think about this place. I do remember sampling all of the bbq sauces. I liked them all! I wish I had tried their bbq too. Hope I find my way back, and I hope you stumble in here, our out, either way, you will find a good time here. '26 - 69 read more

If you are driving along Route 1 in Maine looking for lighthouses, I highly recommend stopping in Thomaston at Station 118. They have incredible barbecue and friendly staff. I started my meal with the corn ribs and I'm so glad I did. They were flavorful with crispy edges and such a fun way to eat corn on the cob. Then I had the Station BBQ Quesadilla with the pulled pork. Oh my, the pulled pork was tender and juicy and stuffed into a crispy tortilla with lots of cheese and peppers and onions. I also got to take a few bites of a shared piece of corn bread. This came out hot with smoked paprika honey butter in the shape of an adorable pig on top. The corn bread was moist and sweet. At the end of our meal, the waitress even provided us with recommendations for our next destination. read more

Nice roadside spot. Nice ambiance and good bbq. Hours are limited, but maybe will expand for summer.

I've eaten here several times and the food is excellent. However, on a recent visit the service was terrible: 1) confusion about who's next in line and taking customer names, slow clearing of tables and seating, we had to ask for everything at least twice (napkins, water, hot sauce caddy), salads came out at the end of the meal, not enough beer glasses so beer was served in paper cups, and later delivered in warm glasses, hostess and waitress were nice enough but inattentive, unorganized, forgetful, just a sh*t show all around. Next time we'll get take out. read more

I want to go back, probably will because it's close by and the brisket was good but every single thing we ordered was lukewarm, and that includes my cocktail. Note to bartender- maybe chill the cranberry juice or the glass first, the ingredients of the drink melted every ice cube in what started as a full glass of ice. And though it was 1:30 ish, maybe a little late for lunch, they could have heated the food back up before serving it. Pricey for what little food was on the plate but everything was good. Lukewarm everything is no fun. Especially a cocktail. $85 lunch for 2 is a bit much. read more

My favorite bbq place in Maine! Our carnivore son has taken us to all of them. This one has amazing vegetarian options. Wonderful atmosphere, amazing food. You will not be disappointed. read more

Moved here from Texas so my opinion may not matter here! First off I would like to say that the staff was fantastic, friendly and all smiles. Clean tables and restrooms. The live music was a little too loud because we couldn't hear each other talk (we even sat outside) but it was good music. Good band! Autism welcome! My autistic teenager was all smiles. He didn't get any dirty looks, and the staff members were super nice. That alone makes us want to come back. THE FOOD: See pics... the "Salad Wedge"was terrible. Let me specifically say that the flavor was on point, but it's not a wedge. The warm soggy lettuce did nothing for me. The blue cheese crumbles, pork belly, and fresh veggies on it was good, just not the lettuce. The Pork Sandwich: (my husbands food) was good but as he crunched down on a bone and spit it out, he just pushed it aside and continued eating. It happens when you are working with fresh pulled pork. Luckily no tooth was broken. He topped it with the blueberry bbq sauce and let me say, that bbq sauce was really good. Half Chicken: my son got the half chicken with two sides. It was ice cold as soon as it came out so it didn't get eaten. We will warm it up at home and see how the taste is. The Mac & Cheese was cold as well. When all is said and done, we had a nice family dinner, and we will just try something different next time. It is a little expensive but honestly, you can't get bbq in this town at all so if you're looking for some fresh bbq this is where to go. Keeping our fingers crossed for the next time. I'm not trying to be mean or ugly towards this place at all. We want to love this place. It's fun, and we love smoked food. We will try it again read more

It was the best food and service of all the restaurants we tried in a 45 mile drive from East Boothbay.

Very good barbecue! I had the pulled pork with mac n cheese and a Johnny cake. The pork was perfectly smoked and SO moist. The house sauce was delicious. The mac n cheese was both creamy and cheesy (most are either one or the other). The corn bread is sweet (which in the South is called Johnny cake) and was moist without being doughy. Very tasty! My husband isn't fond od barbecue and had the fish sandwich and he said it was good as we're the fries. Very good meal. We will go back when in Thomaston! read more

We walked up to Station 118 with our 3 young kids (including 1 in a stroller) for some Saturday afternoon drinks and appetizers. What a phenomenal experience. Our waitress was Mattie and she provided the best service we have had in a long long time. We will actively seek a table in her section for future visits. Her drink recommendation was the apple cider margarita and it was absolutely delicious. 10/10 would recommend. We shared an order of the corn ribs and they were fantastic. One of the funniest and most creative appetizers we have had in or near Rockland and would definitely order them again. The atmosphere and ambience on the covered patio is awesome, you get a bit of people watching with the foot traffic going by, just an all around cozy and awesome spot. The entirety of the staff was beyond friendly and accommodating with our kids. Can't wait to visit again! read more

Terrific find in a sweet spot. Great food (corn ribs and wedge salad are amazing) and warm service. Loved our dinner here!!

If there were a way to give 10 stars I would. I am picky and I consider myself a foodie! I seek out some of the best wings and chicken sandwiches everywhere I go. The wings and chicken sandwich were unmatched. if you like a crispy wing with mind blowing flavor these wings are unforgettable! The chicken sandwich was the best I've ever had (I've had a lot!) A smoked chicken thigh that is batter dipped and fried! The ranch was and the pickles just made the sandwich! The ribs fell off the bone and had such incredible flavor. The pulled pork was also out of this world and for those who aren't about smoke, the fish and chips and hot dogs were also terrific! We have family in the area and will look forward to our next trip to Maine so we can stop here again! read more

Excellent. Great spot for bbq. Small cozy place with outdoor and indoor seating. I had the full rack of ribs and they were fantastic. Fall of the bone nice and smokey. Their house bbq sauce is thick and delicious with a bit of a bite. Mac and cheese for my side was good and cheesy. My companion had a pulled pork sandwich with came with bbq sauce and slaw. She loved it, then ate some of my ribs lol. Excellent wait staff here, very attentive. Came to check on us several times. Give them a try if you like good bbq. We'll definitely be back! read more

I ordered a single brisket plate to go, listed price of $26 on their website. When I pick up the plate, it is extremely busy and I can't really hear the total, so I just hand him my card and pay. I receive the receipt and my food was $34.44, over an $8 increase. It was not an itemized receipt so I could not tell what I was charged for. I left a tip on this (not much because I was astounded at the price). I called the following day to see if I was incorrectly charged and they could not provide an answer for me. I call back twice after that, everyone agreed that it sounded like I was overcharged, but no one knew how/why? I am finally told by a manager that it is a 15% service fee they put on every to go meal. This was never mentioned, so why are you allowing people to unknowingly tip on top of this? Why did your employees not immediately know this was the cause of increase? Also, most people order out when they cannot afford a tip so 15% on top of the already expensive food seems like a lot...Almost $40 for 2 pieces of brisket, not even a hand full of fries and a scoop of mac and cheese. read more

Food is important, and it missed the mark. the atmosphere was great the service was good enough but the food was awkward. Let me explain, I ordered the pork ribs half rack several sides and two appetizers my date had BBQ dip sandwich. Ribs are important for a BBQ joint, you should be able to almost slide the meat off the bone and all the silver skin should be trimmed off... This was not the case. The ribs are as tough as rubber, unfortunately. I wouldn't order again. The Mac and cheese was hyped by our waitress... Its nothing special, honestly a little bland and no toasted cheesy flavor, not creamy... it's kinda hot lunch level, really nothing to go out of your way to order. Big let down was the potato salad, see the thing about potato salad is it gives your mouth a break from the spice and heat of the BBQ It helps you taste the BBQ but this was spiced to the hilt! I get under seasoned potato salad is a sin but this was overkill in the worst way possible. We got the queso fries, not bad but it was a little one note again, good fries good sauce, needed some acid and smoke to break up the carbs and fat, a little pulled pork and bacon and a shot of BBQ sauce drizzled over top would take this to a dish up several notches in my opinion. Like a BBQ poutine. Enjoyed the cornbread, top notch. Beans... Don't get them unless you like hatch chilies, ... New England makes the best beans on earth and these don't even come close to our traditional recipe. To acidic. Idk if this is a BBQ place, it's southern themed but the menu is BBQ shy, no brisket, no smoked beef, no burnt ends or collard greens, no sampler plate... The usual suspects of a great BBQ joint. I think they just need some fine tuning, and revisit the actual BBQ part of the menu, it was the weakest part of the meal by far. read more

Awful. I gave this restaurant 2 tries..... I got chili cheese dogs for $14 and this is what they served. I dont know if it was cheese or queso from a can but I wouldn't feed it to a dog! Who puts pearl onions on chili that suppose to go on a hot dog??? Huh? No seasoning...gross! Wings were also over cooked and dry. No real seasoning, just lots of salt. read more

Wish I could give it 6 stars! The pulled pork sandwich and house bbq sauce were absolutely delicious. 2 weeks later and I can't stop thinking about it. The other guests in our party raved about the ribs. Such a bonus that there are delicious vegetarian options such as "Corn Ribs" and vegetarian bbq. This made the whole experience amazing for my family that includes one vegetarian who often has to order only side dishes. Service was great and friendly. Highly recommend. read more

This spot is definitely one of a kind, as Maine is. Great vibe, customer service, beer and food. One cannot ask for more! Our first visit consisted of beer and appetizers. Excellent barbecue- had the pulled pork and my husband had the brisket. Great service and atmosphere.

Two tries and out. Our first visit was ruined by an overly attentive server. This time, again the service failed. I ordered scallops which come with fries and Cole slaw. I asked for a salad instead of the coleslaw. It was delivered with the slaw. The server told me I had ordered it that way (which I hadnt). She took away the coleslaw finally. Did my fries ever show? Nope. Lots of staff standing around including a manager. Dining room chairs do not provide support and are uncomfortable. We won't be back read more

So I've never reviewed a restaurant, but I had to with this place! Awesome veteran owned place! Love the outdoor dining, reminds me of the awesome classic hangout places I'd often go to when stationed down in VaBeach and SD. Has a very chill, relaxed, and welcoming vibe. They had live music playing during dinner, and even with a newborn, we felt welcome and happy to have found such an awesome local place to have dinner. The food was amazing, and the owners were there just chilling and hanging out too, super friendly folks. Needless to say, I wish we had gone sooner. This will be our new date night spot from now on! Cheers to the owners! Thanks for rescuing this place and keeping it alive! read more

Loved everything! Food , drinks, desert. Thank you satisfying a pregnant mama's craving

We finally went for dinner and loved everything about Station 118. First, it looks perfect for a bbq restaurant and it's casual atmosphere seems carefully cultivated. Very nicely done! The service was fast, friendly, and our server was super sweet and cute! The food was hot and came out quickly. We shared wings, cornbread, and pork tacos. The Wings were the best I have had in the area, Smoked and then deep-fried. They were juicy and crunchy at the same time served with four different in-house made sauces. Going back soon to try some ribs and salad to enjoy one of the homemade salad dressings! The only thing I'd do differently is serve the cornbread warm. The piggie butter is a cute touch. . . Tastes meh to me, but the hubs liked it. I commend them for making the effort and staying open in the winter too! Why did we wait do long to try it???? read more

I had the pulled pork and baked beans. The pulled pork was so salty it was pretty inedible. The beans were bland, more like British baked beans than molasses rich New England baked beans. The only redeeming qualities were the handsome waiter and talented guitarist. Go for drinks and music. Avoid the food. It was a waist of hard earned money. read more

This is the second time that I visited Station 118 first time was about a year ago and then this afternoon for lunch and to give it an honest review would be to say that I like to give any restaurant a couple chances before I post anything, and I must say that I was a little bit disappointed across-the-board with what we order today The establishment is super cute great little location, old gas station feel great Decour on the inside the field the bar everything's really good on aesthetically the food not as good as I'd hope we ordered the chili, con queso, french fries, poutine style, appetizer, the chili and the cheese sauce was very good and the disappointing part was the french fries Super soggy and they were undercooked. They felt like they were still raw inside. I mean they were fried, but they weren't weren't good french fries at all then we got the ribs with mac & cheese and corn on the cob. The corn was very good and it had a little dusting of some sort seasoning on it. Mac & cheese was good, you know a good quality tasty mac & cheese. Good covering of the cheese sauce goes really well with their sauces if you'd like to dip it but the ribs need a knife just to get meat off the bone super dry I don't know if they were over cooked or if it was just a bad cut of meat not sure because he could smoke ring on it, it was flavorful, but just not the type of ribs that you would expect from a barbecue joint. I have a short barbecue from all over the country, Texas, North Carolina, and everywhere in between roadside fancy places and these might've been the worst batch of ribs that I've had just unfortunately just not Tender they were not juicy you know not mouthwatering they do not fall the bone room. Are you think about ribs? Unfortunately these were not however, looking at one of the other customers next to us they had brisket and it looked fantastic so I think overall it like I said, I think I'll give it three stars. Oh, it's probably worthy of another trip back but I hope they read the reviews in and take a look at their procedures and maybe it's just a small thing here and there that they could address or really synonym of the top because I think it's got a lot of possibilities. Enjoy. read more

It was so good. I was going to a movie with my parents (it was lightyear and it was really good so watch it). We got pulled pork and brisket sliders it was really good.there were four, Im serious four, bbq sauces, honey mustard, blue berry, chipotle and regular and an added bonus ketchup. so if your in damariscotta or thomaston then go there. make sure to bundle up if its a cold day. read more

Decent BBQ, a bit pricey. Had the ribs and brisket. The ribs were St. Louis cut, tender and meaty. Good smoke flavor. We were there for lunch and apparently they don't serve sliced brisket at lunch only dinner. That is a crime. Chopped or pulled brisket is not my favorite, and all the brisket flavor, the bark, the moistness, the smoke is lost in the shredded beef. Don't do that brisket, just pork. Very good corn muffin and good beans. Prices are high but the food was plentiful and the staff was very friendly. read more

Finally a good BBQ restaurant mid-coast. I have eaten at many BBQ stops around the US and to have found a good one here is a treat. Brisket plate and pulled Pork plate was worth it and it's a healthy half pound on each plate with 2 sides. There in house BBQ sauces were good - blueberry bbq sauce - who would have thought? It was really good with the Pork. Let me say they have solved the BBQ bean side --- could have just eaten that alone. Cornbread amazing - our daughter enjoyed the Mac n cheese as well. I have said in reviews from my other stops if you can't make a side then don't open a BBQ joint. This place has great sides. We will be back soon to try more of the menu. read more

Overpriced and overcooked! Ribs were dried up, paper thin, and inedible. Not a fan of the sauce which was served in 3 separate containers with no indication of what flavor they were. Brisket wasn't bad, but 5 small slices for $28! Will not be back until I hear they have improved the bbq and realize the location and menu are anything but "fine dining." read more
