The atmosphere, food, and cleanliness was spot on. This place was a great place to have dinner and definitely return. Not sure of our waitresses name, saw Savannah on our receipt but she was very helpful with my choice of what to try. After she recommended the Maine crab cake I told her I was from Maryland and she said that she still recommended it and I was satisfied with the flavors.

The napkins smelled great and the chocolate milk was good.i liked the cups very impressed.

    Veggie risotto

I eat here a lot! Working in close vicinity to Riverfront BBQ, I have had just about everything on their menu. From the jerk chicken sandwich to the veggie risotto, and buffalo wings. Riverfront delivers tasty, fresh, consistent BBQ which is a refreshing change of pace considering this is New England and it's downtown in Maine's Capitol City. Food quality and consistency is top-notch. Portions are generous and their house-made BBQ sauce is not to be missed. Tangy, sweet, spicy it's the perfect addition to literally anything on their menu, and I'm even counting the key lime pie! On my latest visit I had a familiar fave of mine the veggie risotto (of course you can add meat too) but I went straight up veg. It did not disappoint. Brimming with pepper, zucchini, summer squash, mushroom the veggie risotto was a creamy, perfectly spiced blend of rice, cheese, veggi-love and magic. It paired perfectly with the house chardonnay. (I had leftovers for 3 days it was that good). For the meat-lovers they have EVERYTHING you expect a BBQ joint to offer. Sausage, pulled-pork, smoked chicken, shrimp, ribs, burnt ends the list goes on. Riverfront also offers a fun variety of daily specials, check out the Special board on your way in because you never know what you'll find. From tacos, to chili, the daily specials are always a fun way to add variety to a menu that has stood the test of time. For the spicy lovers, I recommend the jerk chicken sandwich! Comes on a bun or jalapeno cornbread...OMG... Don't be surprised if you see meeting/working lunches happening during the noontime hours. Located in Maine's Capitol, Riverfront is often host to Government Officials looking for a place to sit down to a good meal and also get business done! With the quiet atmosphere, intimate setting, and the blues softly playing in the background, one is transported back to New Orleans. I should also mention the nice selection of beer, wine, and just about any other spirit you need to wash down some good home cooking. The restaurant itself is located in an old block of downtown buildings that was once the bus station for the old Greyhound line. Though you'd never know it; given the high painted tin ceilings, cool art, swarthy music, and the smell of BBQ washes over you like a dream the minute you enter. Downtown Augusta has become a meca for foodies. There's plenty of free parking on the street and the adjacent parking lot. There's beautiful views of the Kennebec River (I encourage you to venture down the stairs across the street from the restaurant and enjoy the waterfront park with walking trail access and gorgeous views of "the big green bridge" and you might see a Sturgeon or two leaping from the water!!) In the summer the streets are a bloom with flowers and trees, the City takes great care of it's gem of a downtown. So, if you're ever in the Capitol and in the mood for brisket with jalapeno cornbread, slaw and beans Riverfront will not disappoint!

Stopped in for lunch while passing through ME. Great menu. I had the buffalo cauliflower, and the pulled pork sandwich with sweet potato fries. The Cole slaw was very good, great balance of veg to mayo. Our server , John, was very attentive. I wish we could have tried several of the beers on tap.

Very nice little Memphis style bbq place. Not like your local everyday same bbq joint that moat places do. It was a fun date night with the hubby. Omg the cornbread was amazing. Woukd go back again anytime.

    Poutine was delicious!

The food and bread here is delicious and that's why it's a five star. BUT I have qualms about the following: - My SOLE interaction with staff was one half shouting "Did you order ahead?" No "Hi", "Let us know if you need help", "Have you been here before if not you order on the screen", nothing. Literally the order was put on the counter with nothing said. Had to explain to the person behind us how to order. - A tip screen despite my being the cashier who ordered and customized my items and grabbed my own sides and got my own drinks and paid for it all at the kiosk. Sandwhich maker isn't a tipped job. Pay your employees more if they aren't making enough. - $3.25 for a bag of chips that run $1.25 retail and $4 for a Sanpellegrino is unhinged. Grab a soda and chips at the Citgo across the corner and save yourself the trouble. Two chips and two drinks was 2/3 the cost of the entire sandwhich.

As always, my fellow Yelpers didn't lead me astray!! This establishment could not be any smaller, with barely enough room for about five people to stand inside. That being said, they have a very efficient self serve ordering system, coupled with a kitchen staff that creates fantastic sandwiches in a tiny space. My wife and I tried the "grab and go" half Italian, and the prosciutto and fig jam. Both were fantastic! Great focaccia bread and super fresh ingredients. At first look, the sandwiches may seem pricey, but they are huge!! Can't wait for my next visit.

We shared the combo meal with a little of everything, coleslaw , Mac & cheese, & corn bread. we did not have to wait long for the food, but as we did, a customer came in for a pick up order, knew the pit master by name, & told us we would love the food. She was right. The spicy bbq sauce was tangy & spicy with a little sweet. All the meat was juicy & flavorful. Mac & cheese was melted cheesy goodness. The cornbread had just the right warmth & texture. Not only was the food delicious, Jim was very gracious in helping me find & retrieve a lost item after the restaurant was closed. His kindness & cooking both fed the soul! Thank you, Jim! We'll be back! Jessica

We've eaten at barbecue restaurants all across America -- from tiny roadside pits to legendary…read moreregional institutions -- and nothing has ever come close to Mad Jack's in Cloudcroft, New Mexico. That place is still the undisputed champion in our book, and Black Bloc isn't a close second. But it is a genuinely pleasant stop in Maine's BBQ landscape. The owners at Black Bloc are incredibly kind, and the restaurant itself is adorable -- beautifully decorated, spotless, and clearly cared for. It's the kind of place where you immediately feel welcome. The Mean Greens are the star of the show. Truly fantastic. The cornbread is generously portioned and perfectly moist, exactly how cornbread should be. The baked beans are straightforward baked beans -- nothing fancy, but solid. The ribs, though, were the disappointment. They were fall‑off‑the‑bone tender, which we appreciated, but they had almost no flavor and absolutely no smokiness. We honestly found ourselves wondering if they were even smoked at all. Barbecue sauce was a requirement, not an option. Even with the rib letdown, the overall experience was warm and enjoyable, and we'd go back -- especially for those Mean Greens and that cornbread. Black Bloc is a friendly, tidy, welcoming spot.
