We had dinner here and were a little disappointed. The hummus appetizer was very, very bland. I had the grilled salmon entre. The fish was cooked perfectly but the flavor of the glaze was somewhat off-putting. The asparagus was good and the flavor of the risotto was good but it was undercooked. My guest enjoyed her pasta. I think their burgers are popular and we saw plenty of them coming out of the kitchen. We'll probably stick to that if we come back. read more

I enjoyed my first visit. I started off with a mango wheat beer and elotes, which is blackened corn on the cob with aioli, cotija cheese and seasoning. There was way too much of the aioli but the flavors were good. I had the brisket sandwich with fries. Taste was really good but the sandwich got soggy quickly because of the bbq sauce. We thought we would try State 48 tonight, was not a good choice. My wife's glass of wine had a chipped rim that she cut herself on, when I brought to the bartenders attention she took the glass and poured it into a new wine glass. We told her that she can't do that and asked for a new glass of wine. My tap beer was also warm and our pizza was cold and had no flavor. When I got our bill they charged us for the second glass of wine. I went ahead and paid the bill because it was not worth the hassle, on our way out I asked to speak to a manager, the lady we spoke to apologized and offered to reimburse us for the wine. I said no and also told her that their tap beer is warm, she replied yes we know that........I guess when it's 100 degrees out they think the warm beer will taste cold. I would pass on this location and looking at the number of people there tonight it looks like a lot of others have made that decision. With prices of eating out these days why does a restaurant feel it is ok to be sub par. read more

I've been coming here for over 5 years. Last night was the first night that I was disappointed in the food. We brought friends for the first time she ordered the Reuben and it was a nightmare. The marbeled Rye looked like it was toasted rather than grilled. The portion size was much smaller than the pictures online. Which made them unhappy. And of course the fact that the menu pricing and the online pricing is different. Fortunately the manager was kind enough to take it off her bill. Walked in at 5:00, was seated by a less than interested server/hostess, sat at my table for 15 minutes without anyone stopping by, went to the bar which was dirty, bartender #67 (never said his name) took my flight order (other bartender cleaned off the bar where people sat down next to me), flight was dropped off (flight board was dirty, see pic) without asking if I wanted to order food, he stopped by (30 minutes after first being seated in the restaurant) and asked if I wanted anything else. I ordered the pork sandwich which was average at best. Server #67 dropped off my check without asking if I wanted anything else (I was on a business trip and needed the food and beer on separate checks). Figuring that if I asked for separate checks it would inconvenience server #67 greatly, I paid for the check with my personal credit card. I love State Street 48. I love their mussels in broth. Yummy!! And the burgers are delish. We went and decided to try 3 burgers and share. After taking a bite of my peanut butter burger with jalapeño jam- I no longer wanted to share. It sounds strange but I'm telling you it's the best burger I've ever had. Ordered a cider from the bar menu and it was unavailable. Ordered a pineapple cider and it was delicious. Hubby got a black iced tea, it was good. Ordered a beer cheese sandwich and beer battered fries. Delicious food. Hubby got Sonora burger, sriracha chili soup. Was delivered a bowl of soup, Not chili, and after it was half gone, waitress came and told us it was tortilla soup, not chili because they ran out. No options. Just informed. His burger was good. Service not so great. Waitstaff never checked to see if we wanted more drinks or dessert. We sat with dirty plates in front of us for 5 minutes. Time to go. Not sure we will return. Beer is always delicious, but we've had totally inconsistent experiences here. First time service was absolutely amazing and food was quick and tasty. I wish I remembered our server's name but she was super friendly and helpful in suggesting beer and food. Based on the great experience, we came back for a lunch with some out of town guests a month later and the experience was awful. Server was extremely slow and unfriendly. Took forever to find her to get drinks ordered and then we could see our beers sitting on the bar forever after being poured. She also came back about 10-15 minutes after we ordered food to tell us the pizzas would take 90 minutes. We reordered different food and it still took about an hour, then she brought all the adults food and said the two kids meals would be another 10 minutes because they were making fries. The only appetizer we ordered (pretzel) came out with the food. We also had to order almost all of our beers straight from the bar because she never came around, and when said we had to get our own she just shrugged. We stopped in for lunch and ended up staying for a few hours. Devin took great care of us! If you go, ask for her section and you won't be disappointed!!! The menu has a great variety of food. Don't be fooled by the vegan cheese offering for the pizza. Nothing else about the pizza is vegan. The dough and sauce also contain dairy. It really makes no sense to offer a dairy free cheese but then add that allergen to every other aspect of the pizza. And then there's the Beyond Burger option that is then offered on a brioche bun that contains egg. With all of that said, the beer is very good and I will always go back for that. read more

We stopped by on a Sunday hoping to grab brunch, only to learn that it's no longer a menu, rather a buffet. We didn't find that particularly appetizing so we thought we'd finish our beers and head out. After waiting about 20 min, they decided to open the kitchen for the lunch menu at 11:30...food was okay with your standard fare of wings, burgers, and appetizers. Beers themselves were decent. WARNING++++NOT READY FOR PRIME TIME at the time of this review 6-26-16 and the home brews won't be ready for a month. Short Story- Menu reads like a Fantasy Novel. Sounds GREAT but is not what is served and whoever seemed like the manager didn't act like they listened to my criticism and didn't even say I'm sorry. Long Story- We got seated at an uncomfortable booth by the bar. I was going to start with a house crafted beer but found out the house brewed beer won't be ready for about a month. However they are selling other local beers so I went with something else. We decided to share the Ahi Tuna Tostadas. They come out from the food jockey WITHOUT sharing plates. They were described on the menu as Ahi Tuna Tartare over a corn tostada with roasted corn and jicama slaw, pickled red onions and cilantro lime aioli. I received one solid French Fry shaped piece of not the cleanest tasting tuna covered with cabbage cole slaw with maybe one corn kernel and some sort of loose white liquid. I brought this to the attention of the server and the server said that he would inform the kitchen. This was not served as described. This was hard to eat without sharing plates and hard to eat because log of tuna and also this wasn't delicious. This Cole Slaw sort of clashes with Ahi Tuna. Maybe fresh bright cilantro would have saved it if they had some on it? I had the Falafel Burger. The Falafel was ok and didn't seem like it was made with fresh herbs but was made with the correct flavors so that was ok to me. The green curry coconut yogurt lacked the green curry taste and the coconut taste and seemed the same as the loose white liquid from the Ahi Tuna Tostadas. I wasn't able to eat it with the bread as a sandwich. I can't imagine anyone would be able to eat this as a sandwich because nobody on earth has a mouth that big. I think one burger size patty would have worked out better than two small thick patties. I do note they do offer a bun-less option I should have went with. As my side I had the Roasted Corn and Jicama Slaw THAT DIDN'T CONTAIN ANY CORN OR JICAMA and was just cabbage slaw. I wasn't able to eat the cole slaw because it was unappetizing It had something with a orange tint added that didn't taste right to me. Even though this is a newly opened restaurant there is still no excuse to serve food like that. Someone checked on us that might have been a manager. I showed her the slaw. The woman said at first that you know jicama looks like cabbage and then my blood started to boil. NOW THAT MADE ME ANGRY. To me she insinuated that I don't know the difference between cabbage and jicama. I Shoved my fork in it and it was green shredded cabbage. Then she said something like they were busier than they expected to be and she guessed they ran out of stuff. She said that she would tell the kitchen. I told her the correct thing to do is to be honest with the customer. I told her that it wouldn't be an issue if my server was honest with me and me that they ran out out of roasted corn and jicama slaw. I wouldn't be mad at all because then that is what I would expect or I'd have the option to order something different. TO ANY RESTAURANT- If you run out of stuff you have two choices. 1- Take it off the menu. They call that 86 it in restaurant language 2- Be honest with your guest (if you want them to return) and tell them you are out of X and are substituting with Z My husband had the Beer Cheese Steak with Fries. The steak was tender and the sandwich with fries were OK but it would have been nice if we were offered ketchup for the fries. As really ok as the steak sandwich was......Between the substitutions, misses, and possibly management attitude. This is really one star to me. I don't plan to return. I'll be generous since they are a newly opened restaurant. They have potential to be good someday because of a lovely written menu but need strong leaders for food execution and they need someone with front of house skills. Good Luck! Ordered the burger and a salad. Salad was good however, the burger was ordered pink and came out burnt. It took 30 minutes to get the burger which explains why it was burnt. Owner (Vince) came out to explain why the burger was burnt and didn't offer any compensation for the well done burger. Also ordered an "OVER EASY "Runny Egg" on it and couldn't tell there was an egg on the burger. Vince was very condescending and suggested we were out for a " Free Meal". I would stay away from this place if you want good food and good customer service. Try the new COLD BEER AND CHEESEBURGERS. Much better option. read more

We are 45 minutes away from home. I just moved mother in law into her home in Surprise. I'm starving, wife is starving, newborn is crying, he wants boob juice, we luckily stumble upon this brewery. Extremely pleased with this place! Cool laid back atmosphere, bathrooms clean, very nice and professional waitress- Shelby T, the food we got was great, service was on point, and the beers we tried are awesome! My wife has LOVED the beet salad in the past, but this time it was literally dripping with vinegar. Our waitress noticed that it wasn't being eaten and asked if we wanted a to-go carton. My wife told her it was inedible! Sarah returned with our bill, but never offered to replace the salad or to give us a credit. I told the manager as we left. He apologized, but said it was too late to correct it once I'd paid - I should've complained to him earlier. I told him we HAD told our waitress and she'd done nothing.
