Are you kidding me?! How did we not know about this place before now?! Our family of 5 were really looking forward to dining for the first time here after reading the reviews and seeing the pictures. Just days before we arrived, Chef Kim Acton was awarded best chef of Worcester County by Coastal Style magazine. So now we were really pumped. If you've never been, the venue is small and reservations are highly recommended. We definitely have our favorite foodie spots for top shelf dining in and around the OC area, but after dining here, I have to say this location has easily shot to number one. The staff is cheerful and very accommodating. The mixologist(too creative to be called a bartender) was crafting some amazing drinks for us. Then came the food. From the burrata salad to the garlic shrimp, to the crab dip, which will make any other crab dip you've ever tasted seem paltry, the flavor combinations, and the quality of the ingredients all were carefully orchestrated. For our mains, we had the fillet with the lobster and grilled shrimp, the rack of lamb, the gigantic seared scallops which were perfection, and the Faroe Island salmon. We don't consider ourselves food snobs, however, we do have a high bar, and we have had the opportunity to eat at some of the best restaurants in the country, including the French Laundry in Napa. I would easily put this restaurant at the same level as some of those establishments, we were that impressed. There are chefs that are creative in putting together an interesting menu, and then there are chefs such as Kim that just takes things to another level. Our desserts were on the same par as everything else that we had selected that evening. As we drove home, we were all raving about our individual dishes, and already looking forward to when we could return. Nicely done Chef Kim! This place is quite expensive for food that is mediocre at best. There are so many nicer options in the area both in terms of food and ambiance, I don't know why anyone would go here unless they'd just finished golfing. read more

Cozy little place @ River Run Golf Course. This is was an amazing experience overall. Service was fast , friendly and great. Definitely make a reservation. We called over the phone and It was very simple. We started with the shrimp appetizer which was very good. Starr salad was awesome. Crab cake entree was superb - all meat with great flavor. Everything was cooked perfect with no issues. Very fresh as well. Paired everything with a bottle of white wine. Highly recommend for dinner. read more

10/31/24 This restaurant is at the golf course, I found it on Yelp. We came for lunch one day, if you've never been don't do what I did and goto the first building it's actually the club house for the residents keep going to the right it's on the end of all the homes. We ordered the chicken salad and BLT sandwiches with chips everything was very good we will try it again. read more

Was very disappointed. The atmosphere is wonderful. Very romantic, quaint. Our server was fabulous. The problem was, we ordered the bacon wrapped scallops as an appetizer and it was still frozen on the inside. The server was kind enough to tell the chef/manager and nobody came to our table to address it. Poor customer service. We were the only people in the restaurant. It's not like they were slammed and didn't have time. They didn't charge us, but we left after that. I was really looking forward to it but was disappointed. read more

We have dined here twice. Kim and her staff are friendly and welcoming. From the roasted garlic spread to the drinks, and the food, everything is fantastic. The salads are fresh and interesting. The seafood pasta is fantastic. The chicken Milanese was crispy and delicious. My only complaint is that we have been here twice and left too full to try the desserts. This is my favorite spot at the beach. We can't wait to take friends here in a few weeks. read more

This was our second time visiting this restaurant. Both were absolutely amazing experiences. First of all the service is lovely, very attentive and both times they added a little extra. All the food is worth the hype. We've read about this restaurant. Our table had the Bolognese, the lamb chops, the filet mignon, the clam linguine, +2 appetizers. Everything was perfectly flavored and cooked with experience! We will keep coming back now that we have found this gem! read more

Friendly, warm atmosphere. Very loud. Food was good but drinks were very disappointing. 13.50 for bar drink that had absolutely nothing in it. My husband's as well was watery nothing. Setting is lovely and personal. Prices were good. We will give it another try. Maybe.​ read more

Really enjoyed lunch at Starr. I ordered the shrimp salad, was one of the best shrimp salad sandwiches ever. Hubby ordered the grilled cheese deluxe, everything was perfect. Had the bartender make a special drink, watermelon crush, was amazing! Kim, the chef, stopped by and asked about our dining experience, said it was very nice. There are 2 sides to the restaurant, the fine dining side and more casual. We opted for the more casual, it was lunch. Can't wait to take my mom when we go back! read more

We visited this restaurant on a whim, after seeing a beautiful dish posted fon Facebook. My sister and her boyfriend were visiting and we were hoping for the best. We were very happy with all the dishes we ordered. I ordered the garlic shrimp (jumbo) with 4 pieces of garlic toast for an appetizer and the wedge salad. We ordered the cream of crab in which it was a pretty good size bowl with a large portion of lump crab in the soup. Amazing, to say the least. My husband ordered the fantastic filet topped with large shrimp in lobster sauce with creamy whipped potatoes. My sister's boyfriend ordered the Faroe Island Salmon over orzo pasta with vegetables. My sister ordered chicken Milanese with whipped potatoes. Everything was fantastic! Finally as a fitting finish we had vanilla ice cream with fresh blue berries and strawberries topped with chocolate ganache. I would give 6 stars if I could. We found another gem! read more

A huge thank you to the server, manager, and kitchen at STARR. To avoid any other places where we would wait for an hour, we called ahead for a group of 34, giving 25 mins notice and they were very accommodating. They had no issue keeping up with us. We live close so ventured over to a river Run. They had a few goof tournaments eating. But we got sat quickly and service was fast an attentive. The food was quite good. Had the chesapeake salad and husband had the pasta. All good. Only troublesome issue was a tequila and orange juice cost $8.50 One liquor drink. Will ask next time will have to ask what they charge. The few drinks we ran the bill up tremendously. I believe it was rail tequila too. Other than that we enjoyed our time. read more

Limited dinner menu with 2 of 3 non seafood items not available. Steak was excellent, although expensive. No salad or bread and came only with McDonalds style fries with Parmesan on top. The online menu is incorrect. As a fairly new vacation home owner in Ocean Pines, I was left there between family visits on a summer Sunday evening. Tiring of seafood, I looked for a nearby restaurant with steak on the menu and found Starr at River Run online. The online menu promised "12 oz NY Strip $27 - Wild mushrooms, bleu cheese butter, seasoned vegetables, baked potato." Looked like a good deal, so when the menu arrived, I quickly ordered the steak, and when I was asked if I wanted the mushrooms, I said yes. In retrospect, I should have read the fine print on the printed menu. Instead of seasoned vegetables and baked potato, I received a basket of french fries. And the mushrooms cost me $5 extra, which I wasn't specifically told. When reading their online menu, caveat emptor! Their real menu is not what is advertised online. Jim C. read more

Loved this place! STARR is cozy and had a warm atmosphere. The staff was very attentive and the service was awesome! The Crab Cakes were the best I ever had and on top of it were gluten free, so full of real crab meat! The rest of our meal was incredible as well. We had steak and it was cooked to perfection. STARR was something special and we were not rushed at all which is so important to me during a meal. Dessert was homemade and delicious... the menu was hard to choose from so many great choices but the waitress helped me out and I certainly made the right choice!
