They have a very disrespectful cashier an older lady with a nasty attitude. She works at the cashier area where you pick up your vehicle after it has been service. They take weeks to get to your vehicle and when you check on the status they tell you the machine said he will give a call whenever it gets in the garage. So unprofessional. Got me in, got my car all fixed up, found some issues and took care of them all in the same visit. Did not overcharge, did not over do their oil/filter change, but did a basic check and I'm glad they did, they found a big problem which could have caused a catastrophic issue with the vehicle. Thankful and a great group of people both in Sales, who remember me from 2018, and Service Department, who knows my name and face when I come in. Everyone at Star is great! Very nice people. Danny in sales is great! Service ladies at the desk are nice. However, the folks in service need some work. I had tow mirrors put on my truck. The trucks computer had to be told to work the signal lights. Picked truck up and no lights! Would have thought you would have tried em before you gave them back to me. Called in an oil change for my DIESEL. Dropped truck off, and I hadn't heard anything from the dealership. This review is for the service department. We have been using Starr motors service depart on and off for many years for 2 Ram trucks. In 2018 ago they hit the service bay with my brand new 2500. Luckily it only damaged the fender flare and it was repaired. Also In 2018 my 1500 was in for a steering shaft recall/warranty. The tech forgot to tighten bolt on shaft and the steering was faulty, luckily I realized it before we got on the highway and lost control. 2020 we asked them to diagnose our transmission that shifted a little odd occasionally, they changed the fluid and told us we needed a new transmission even though there was no fault codes and no problems seen internally. (50,000 miles later the transmission is still fine) That was enough for us to go to another dealer for a while, fast forward to this year, 2022, we brought the 1500 back for a leaking oil filter that they didn't tighten enough at previous oil change. They agreed the oil should also be changed since it was leaking and their fault. They did change oil but docked my oil change contract for the work(charged me to redo something they messed up) Same visit they installed a fuel pump due to gauge not working. They quoted $400 labor. They charged me $477. Same visit they serviced the trans(they recommended it). I picked up the truck and 5 miles down the road trans went into neutral by itself and kicked out a trouble code for trans clutch error. I checked fluid and Tech did not refill fluid properly, it was low. I had it towed to dealer and told them we didn't think fluid was filled correctly. The next day they called and said fluid level was fine but there was metal in the fluid and we needed new trans. They also said there was metal in it before they serviced it but they forgot to tell me. (I knew at this point they were lying and trying to cover themselves for the mistake in case them not properly filling cause permanent damage.) I advised them to make sure the fluid level was correct and i would pick the truck up. Picked the truck up, no more check engine light and the trans is perfectly fine. (So far)(another clue they were just covering themselves) Point of the story, they are not trustworthy and do not offer manufacturer quality work or deserve the labor rate they charge. We have had service appointment that went fine with no issues also, but as one customer with this many problems, can they be trusted with brand new vehicles, especially at the cost read more

I would definitely not recommended going to Starr Motors. We drove over an hour from North Carolina to look at a 2010 Jeep. Both their voicemail and their website said they were open until 8pm. We got there at 6:30pm. They were closed. We texted the number in the window of the Jeep. We made an appointment for 12pm the next day. Reply quote from the office at 7pm , "Yes that sounds great. I will have Danny pull it out for you and make sure you are good to go". We weren't asked for a deposit to hold the vehicle. We didn't even have the chance to put any funds down on the vehicle. All we have heard are excuses from the owner about getting deposits in order to hold a vehicle. How is your customer supposed to do that when you sell the vehicle to family and dine tell anyone, especially those that already had an appointment. Well at 1130 am the next damn day we were told they it had been sold. What the living hell. Oh wait, it's because it was sold to the damn owner's niece. The sales department is phenomenal. Unfortunately... the customer service goes down from there. This has got to be the worst service department in the area. Do yourself a favor and take your vehicle somewhere else. I took my Grand Caravan there for an A/C issue. Left it there for the entire day and was told it was fixed. Not only was it NOT fixed.... but it was worse than it was when I dropped it off IMMEDIATELY after leaving the shop. I was told I could bring it back and they would "try" again, which I MAY have done if they hadn't screwed my husbands truck up at the same time. My husband brought his Ram truck in for service on his upper and lower control arms & bushings as well as an Evap leak. The truck was in their possession for two weeks during which my husband had to continuously push for answers and for them to actually work on the truck. The service manager Joe is useless and rude. We had to contact the owner of STAR motors just to have Joe call us back. After we finally got the truck back the front end was still not right. We took both vehicles to another mechanic. The AC in the van was fixed in a couple of hours. The truck was diagnosed correctly (FINALLY). The brand new tires we put on it are also ruined because it left STAR needing an alignment. This other mechanic also found a very expensive piece of equipment that has been riding around under the hood of my husbands truck since he left STAR months ago. Hey Joe, if this part is "GPS TRACKED" as you claim... why did my husband have to call YOU to tell you that your mechanics left it? It's on the front porch, until trash day. Our car has now been fixed to our satisfaction. I eventually got to talk with Joe who took care of everything and the car is running fine now. All of this could have been avoided if the service department had communicated more and explained when I had the appointment on Friday that the car would not be looked at until Monday I could have gone away and brought the car back on Monday. Communication is key, Joe agreed to pay some of my car rental and also spotted another problem and fixed that at the same time. I am happy with the end result. read more

When I went to pickup, my side mirror was not buffed out as described in the appraisal. Then I noticed my fog lights were still taped over. Also my front bumper was not reinstalled correctly, which I was able to correct myself. So you might want to consider other body shops for a repair job. read more

Purchased a '14 Dodge Charger in July. By October, been having nothing but issues with the transmission. Took it back to the dealership and before I made it home, I received a call saying the car was fixed. All they did was a software update. The car wasn't fixed. Took it back again with the same issues and was told, they'd drop the pan to see if there were any metal shavings. When I picked the car up, I asked 3 people what work was performed and couldn't get an answer. The service invoice said all they did was a software update. They didn't drop the pan or do anything else. they didn't even check the fluid. Service Manager said, "One little problem and you think the car is falling apart". First of all, it isn't one little problem and if I purchase a brand new car, I expect to run like a brand new car. The morons in the service dept think a software update fixes everything. I think they're lazy and treat customers like trash. They couldn't find water if they fell out of a boat. Don't buy a car from Starr and don't service you car there. Get a high school auto shop student to do the work. You'll have better results. read more

I brought my car here after an accident and was told that it would be a few days and they would call me. Well, over a week goes by and no call. After checking in it still wasn't ready and they tell me they lost the emblem for my car, which upon research can't be found anywhere due to it being an older car with special upgrades. After finally getting my car back the quality of the work was terrible. Fast forward size months and my bumper that they had repainted is peeling. I go back and they say no problem they'll fix it and set a time to bring it in. Upon dropping it off they say it will be done later that day or tomorrow. Well the next day, late in the afternoon I go to pick it up and they tell me it isn't ready and they'd call. Never called. These people have no idea what they are doing . I purchased a 2011 Dodge Ram at Starr Motors Aug of that year. I've taken the truck in for a clicking/ticking/ knocking noise numerous times over the years. They have diagnosed it as a "hemp tick" and front end axle noises. They've replaced the axles and that didn't fix the issue. I taken it up there and have taken rides with the mechanics to show them and replicate the noises. The noises always come up when I take my foot off the gas. A lower end tapping is always heard. After talking to Joe the service manager and Tina the service writer today April 26 2018 after explaining the problems I was having with my truck after dropping it off with them a little over a week ago they miss diagnosed the problem. They reset the check engine light and changed the oil and sent me on my way. No one checked the oil. I changed my engine oil after seeing there was no oil pressure after the truck warmed up. The oil was full of nonmagnetic metal, gold in color. The service manager told me he was going to call dodge and get back with me I haven't heard anything from dodge and I've called them myself self and their explanation was since it's out of warranty there's nothing they can do except for talking to the service manager. No help at all! Dodge told me to call the owners of Starr Motors. I've called and spoke to Clay White and he's played the political game with me and offered no help not even a rental for the time my truck is down. The service writer told me it's a bad time for my truck to break down since it's the end of the month and the beginning of the month the following week. So inspections are more important than replacing my engine! The service manger offered a rebuilt engine from powertrainproducts.net for a price of 3699.99. I've told them to order it and get in so the repair can start. After ordering the engine the service writer called and told me they would add 25% to the price to order it. So 900$ just to order the engine and approx 20 hours labor to replace it. Ripping me off again! They have misdiagnosed my trucks issues for years which has now costed me an engine at the price of around $8400.00. This has left a bad taste in my mouth with Starr Motors and will never buy or have any service work done there again and I would advise others to stay away also. I hate to see what they do to people who have no idea about the mechanics of automobiles. I had planned to buy a Jeep JL from them later this year but now I won't go anywhere near this dealership. I will be buying out of state and having any warranty work/ issues done at another dealership. Received 2 calls from Tina the service writer today May 3 to say the engines cakes/ gunked up inside and they need to clean the oil pan, valve covers and oil pickup at a extra cost of 3 hours labor (315$) and my total bill is now $8400. And some change!!!!! To add insult to injury Joe called me today to say the truck is ready for pick up. The engines in they've taken it for a spin checked for leaks and all fasteners. He informed he talked to Clay White and was told to adjust the bill. I said okay and to email me a detailed bill to look over. I was charged an extra 1049.00 just to order an engine. This place in my opinion is a rip off and would never send anyone there of any thing!!!! They ended taking $525.00 off the bill and nothing off the cost of ordering the engine so a 20 minute cost me $1049.00. Stay away. I also talk to Clay White today and he told me since my truck had and aftermarket bumper and fishing rod holder I run the truck hard... What an assumption to make about some and the way they drive vehicles... I will never send any busy their way or do business there ever again 4 hours after I picked up the truck Joe the service manager called after seeing this review to say since the truck was out of warranty that why Chrysler wouldn't not help and woundnt go any further in discussion with me and to have a nice day. Nothing about never looking into the engine or any diagnosis every done by their mechanics... Nothing about charging a $1000 just to order a engine... Wow! "Have a nice day." Now less than a thousand miles later belts are breaking have found numerous brackets they broke and tie strapped back, things not put back right and has thrown numerous codes since the engine they put in. I bought a Renegade in June of this year. Unfortunately it was declared a total loss due to flooding during the October hurricane. In dealing with insurance and payoff, I noticed I was charged for the Auto Protection Clear coat on my contract. I specifically told the financial guy that I wanted nothing added to my contract. It was put in the contract anyway. I did sign the paperwork. Being so excited to have a new vehicle is not an excuse. That is on me. However, I never got the clear coat that was added to my contract without my notice. I have asked for a refund and was told by the same financial guy that he would check on it. Well...He has now informed me that he does not know whether or not the clear coat was installed. Isn't it possible to check service records to see my jeep was obviously never in there for clear coat. This is a little over $1200.00 of my money I paid for a service I did not receive. He informed me the clear coat is installed upon purchase and takes no longer than signing the paperwork. What a load of #&^%. Clear coat was never put on my jeep. I left after signing the paperwork. No extras were performed, I wonder if he gets a cut for the extras he puts in a contract. When my original jeep was declared a loss I actually considered buying another jeep from this dealer. A sales person had actually found another just like the one I had and I wanted it. Was just waiting for insurance pay off for the first one. My husband lost two work trucks in the same storm. They lost his possible business too. I actually bought my first new vehicle from Starr Motors in 1978. A Plymouth Arrow Pickup. I lived in VA Beach at that time. Was just a kid. It was kind of an exciting revisit. Now it is just a huge letdown. In my opinion, this was deceitful and unethical. I do not recommend this location for vehicle service. STARR Motors is independently owned from Chrysler . I have had an issue on two occasions now with a female member of the service team that did not and would not honor my Chrysler issued Service Plan. I have all of the proper documentation from Chrysler and STARR motors refused to comply with it. I would rather drive an extra 30 minutes to another Chrysler dealership that complies with Chrysler rules, contracts, and has better service overall. Was treated very poorly by Tina in the service department, hung-up on me over the phone, ripped my service plan out of my hands and asked me where I got it (issued from Chrysler), etc. You couldn't talk sense into this woman. For people that are supposed to deal and comply with Chrysler issued service agreements and know everything about them, they do not demonstrate the knowledge that they should in this area. It is pretty bad when the consumer knows more about their paperwork than they do. read more

I purchased a 2013 Chrysler 300 from Starr motors. This is the second vehicle purchase from them in 2 years. First was 2011 Charger. Let me say Mike Annette my salesman both times was very patient understanding and simply on point!! Would buy a car from him anyday anywhere! Now this is where Starr motors derails as a whole. I understand sales very well....have done military recruiting for years and have learned many tricks of sales trade. Anyway getting to my point. I made a deal with Mike who of course had to get higher level approval from Darryl and Brad at the dealership. Darryl took my car on a 1 hour test drive to take his buddy Brad home on the first night I was there. REALLY!! Enough said on that. Next trying to work the numbers of the trade which by the way had only been serviced at Starr motors since my purchase. Never had enough mileage to change the brake pads nothing but oil changes. So went to trade car in and make deal Darryl decides to try another last minute seasoned used car salesman scam and go out rellok the car then comes back saying the tires are bald and they need to lower the already unprimed trade in value on the car. I say BS he already drove the car a couple days prior for an hour and visually reviewed it for even longer. I left saying I wont buy from thi as that was a slimey last minute move. They were trying to recover as much money as possible on the newer vehicle purchase a car they had in inventory for more than a year. Not my issue! They obviously profile people here in attempt to size them up for what they can take them for..... I have multiple vehicles and needless to say have been around the block before so it was actually fun watching them try to rip me off! The person most frustrated was Mike the salesman. I finally got to talking to Brad he is slightly more polished than Darryl with car sales. He tried a few lowballs to gouge every cen he could but again been around the block before. BLUF stay away from Darryl watch Brad to if you choose to go there. Nice quiet local dealer though. Just wish they were more straightforward and honest! Especially with non tire kickers! Seriously doubt I will purchase a 3rd vehicle from here. The second deal left a very bad taste in my mouth! Ensure you check other dealers in the area first!! read more

I am highly impressed with the repair work from the collision center, the work was completed in a timely manner. I had spoken several times to the Crystal in the collision center and every time she was very professional and gave me detailed information concerning a time line for my repairs. I have used the service department for 4 years and have had nothing but great customer service. When I got my car back after the 2 week collision and motor repair, Starr motors had detailed my car inside and out making it look and smell like a brand new car. I would recommend the service and collision department to anyone in need of a quality repair center. read more

I took my van in to Starr Motors because the signal switch was not working.(This will be the fourth time it has needed replacing and the van only has 28,000 miles) After the second signal switch was put on, the Service Manager (David) at the time said that it was a faulty part. If this is the case, why am I having to pay over $200 each time? Why isn't Chrysler paying for the repairs? I was charged $49 for a diagnostic fee and told that the part had to be ordered and would be there in 2 days. It has been 3 weeks and I still have heard nothing from them. I called last week and left a message for the Service Manager (Joe). He has not called either. The highly skilled technician that performed the diagnostic on my van failed to put the steering column and dash back together properly. So, for the last 3 weeks, I have been driving around with the underside of the steering column exposed and the lower dash hanging down hitting my leg!! Oh, and I still have no signal lights!!! I do not feel comfortable with them working on any moving parts on my van if they cant even put a steering column and dash back together properly!! This is not the first bad experience I have had with Starr Motors. I had a Durango in their service department 3 times and spent THOUSANDS of dollars trying to get the A/C fixed!! After the 3rd failed attempt, I took the Durango some place else and traded it in on a new vehicle!! I thought I would give Starr another chance, but once again they failed miserably!! I guess I will take my Dodge Caravan to the Ford dealership up the street to get fixed!! read more

We went to a couple Dodge dealers in the area and were not too happy with them. We were driving by Starr Motors and stopped in because we saw a new Dart GT on the lot that we liked. It ended up not having the options we were looking for and we were told by the salesman we first saw (Todd Bowers) that they had a 2015 GT in the used lot that had low miles and we went and spoke with a salesman (Jack Davis) and the car was brought around front and it looked perfect. We spoke with the finance guy and he gave us a range that included what we were looking to pay. When the time came to sign the papers which was the following day they ended up only $3.00 a month more than the top of the range we were given and we ended up with a 100,000 mile warranty. They gave us more for our trade in than we expected and did everything they could to get a payment we were comfortable with. I would recommend them and Jack Davis to anyone. They went above and beyond to make our buying experience a good one. read more
