I have visited a few times. It's very windy up top and drinks are pricey. The first time I ever visited, I paid $14 for a mango margarita and the wind knocked this off the table when I had only drank half. I'm used to DC and nova prices but $14 for a non frozen/jumbo margarita at just a brewery was a lot. Having this knocked over by the wind was also really unfortunate. On of the times I visited was on a Sunday afternoon and there were so many kids running around everywhere, it felt like a zoo. I always love a rooftop bar but overall, this place just isn't my vibe. Went there a few times to meet up with friends after work. Very lively outdoor venue with a great selection of beer and other drinks. The staff is really friendly. Depending on the day they have live music on stage or a game on the big screen. There are 4 bocce ball courts, a large chess game, food trucks and putt-putt golf nearby. Rating is so high based on the ambiance!! I mean it doesn't get better than that space. Beautiful views at sunset. I am not a huge beer drinker but I think their beer is just okay. On my next visit, I am excited to order more food. We got the pretzel which I probably would not get again but we loved the fried cauliflower. Cool vibes here! As expected they've got a great selection of beers- I had to get the Wahoowa to rep my alma mater. If you like hoppy beers I definitely recommend that one. They've also got a few other food/drink trucks, mini golf, bocce ball, and live music which was great. The band that was playing when I was there played a wide selection of karaoke-worthy hits, from the Red Hot Chili Peppers to the Strokes to Radiohead. Definitely added nice vibes and got our heads bobbing. I noticed some people commented about how crowded it gets near the bar where the seating is- I can confirm that's definitely true, so be wary when coming on weekends or during happy hour. Overall though, it's nice to have a place like this to go out at night in the Tysons area. Will be coming back for sure! read more

Absolutely great spot in Tysons just off the metro. It's s little tricky to find as you need to take an elevator up to a rooftop and once you find it you are greeted with a nice view of the city, delicious beer, and a number of activities. One thing that struck me about Starr Hill was the different crowds of people - families with you children, people with dogs, professionals coming after work - to listen to the live music, watch sports games on TV, enjoy the spacious fields for dogs and playing or picnicking, and taking in N overall chill vibe. It was not overly crowded (although I could see it being really busy on a warmer summer day) and it was great having access to food trucks and mini golf. I'm looking forward to stopping in more often. read more

This was my first visit to The Perch/Starr Hill Biergarten. It is surrounded by the Capital One complex of buildings up on the 11th Floor above the Wegmans. It's a nice outdoor space with plenty of seating. Seating is a bit limiting when there is a thunderstorm. It was stormy the night our group was there. Unfortunately neither the other food trucks nor the Perch Putt are open on Mondays. Star Hill has a good selection of beer,wine & cocktails plus a selection of bar food. My friends and I checked out the newly-opened Starr Hill Biergarten over the summer and really enjoyed the local brews and rooftop views. I was very impressed by how COVID friendly the space is! Everything is open air with large group seatings with mini fireplaces to keep you warm in the cooler months. There is also stadium seating that overlooks a giant screen which makes it a fun spot to catch a game with some friends. Starr Hill brews are the spotlight here. If you are looking for a bite to eat, please go elsewhere. The food is awful. Even their fries and pretzels come out cold, sad, and tasteless. You're better off grabbing sustenance from the hot food bar at Wegmans on the bottom floor. For parents, your children will enjoy the "urban playground" area right next to brewery. There is lots of room to run around, swings, games, and structures to climb. Note, no food or drink from Starr Hill is allowed here but they will be featuring several food trucks in the future. read more

Seeing that Capital One building while on 495 is one thing, but drinking on top of it? Next level. On my first free weekend, I beelined to Starr Hill Biergarten to check out this new spot. Initially, I was worried about even being able to locate it, but the folks at Capital One Center did a great job with labeling everything from the parking lot (same one as the Wegmans) to the elevator and pay stations. Look for "The Perch" on the 11th floor. Upon first sight, I was in awe of how MASSIVE the space is. How is all this green space just ~here~ and how the heck are we doing all of this in the air right now lol? What was this space before? A regular roof lol? You get it: there is a lot of space, so don't worry about properly social distancing or not being able to find a spot to sit - there is always the grass. Among the cornhole, giant chess game, and open space is the main attraction: Starr Hill. There are tables and some couches and stools as seating options, or you can pop a squat in front of their large screen projector to catch the game. As someone who "isn't a beer drinker," I found plenty of things to drink here. The raspberry was very light and perfect if you're a drinker just like me. Really cute new rooftop bar in Tyson's (right above Wegman's)!! I went for the first time last night, and was pleasantly surprised. I would give the atmosphere 5 stars- LARGE rooftop with several picnic tables, both covered and uncovered. Several grassy areas- one with chairs and swings for lounging, one for bocce ball, cornhole, and chess. Very dog friendly, just must be on leash. There were a few TVs around the covered area, near the bar- but not too many (so if you are coming for a specific sports game, you may or may not have it on by your table). Could definitely use more TVs- and they have the room for it! There is also a stage, and they had live music the night I was there (Wednesday). The food was your typical bar food (why I didn't give this place 5 stars). Nothing special about the fries, grilled cheese, pretzels, etc. I will say though that all the food is VERY hot and very fresh. Wide selection of beers and ciders, and I loved that they had more than one sour beer. I'm not sure how this rooftop will fair in the late fall or winter, because although they do have heaters overhead, they're far away from you and don't warm you up much (they really need the stand alone heaters). One fire pit near one of the tables, but again, could use more fire pits! It gets very breezy and chilly on the rooftop, so dress accordingly. Great view of the city; really enjoyed this rooftop bar, and I will be back (with my dog)! read more

Visited on a Friday night. I somehow lucked into free parking by entering the wrong side of the garage lol. Unfortunately can't speak to the parking situation otherwise but from most of the signs it looks like they charge after the first hour unless you get it validated. Once parked you'll want to take the elevators up to the 11th floor to get to the Biergarten. They've got a varied selection of beer you can check out online before heading over. Once you're there they've also got live music, games (bocce, chess) and tons of lounging space for all to enjoy. Not really a big beer drinker but the selections they had seemed varied enough. We also ordered a side of fries to hold us over before dinner. There's a separate food pickup station nearby the bar and you actually end up getting a good amount for $6. They came out super fresh and thoughtfully salted. The food drinks and atmosphere make for an overall pleasant experience. Fair warning, while we were chilling, the line to order drinks grew massively seemingly out of nowhere. I managed to find a shorter line to close my tab. read more

After a morning of running errands with my fiance, we decided to head to Starr Hill to decompress. This has been on my list of places to check out since it opened. Located at the rooftop of the Capital One center at the Perch, the Biergarten was easy to find. You do have to pay for parking and they do not validate at Starr Hill. I was told if you purchase at Wegmans you can get validated parking. For the area, it is expected. The establishment is spacious and you get rooftops views. I asked if there were any happy hour deals (Friday afternoon), but they said no. Either way, the prices are not that bad. They have a good selection of beers, cocktails and seltzers. The employees were all nice and helpful. We got a couple of beers and some fries to enjoy the afternoon weather. If drinking is not your thing, there are other things to do like lawn games, food trucks and even mini golf at the perch. It is easy to spend a few hours here. Since it is on the rooftop, your experience will depend on the weather. They do have a covered area, but I was told if there is lighting they will close. It was a little windy when we were there. This place is worth a stop just to have a beer, enjoy the weather, or even wait out 495 traffic. I would definitely come again! read more

Wow! Where do I start? No issues with this place whatsoever. When I went there was a country singer playing (she was very good). I love that it wasn't too loud but it wasn't too quiet. There's a nice green to sit and watch the show and an area to play cornhole. It was 3pm on a Saturday and we still found seats. Kids are allowed but the place is big enough that it's not a big deal. For food, I got the grilled chicken sandwich with fries and it was pretty good, standard American food. For a drink, I got the Pina colada sangria. For $10, it was strong enough which was surprising! I give star hill a 4.9/5 stars This place is the ideal rooftop bar and happy hour place. Perfect for after work events and hall hours. They have awesome drinks and deals. Bocce ball, chess, and a beautiful view of Tyson's. They also have great food, I got the fries and they were really crispy and delicious. Starr hill is on the eleventh floor of the capital one hall building. It's located across from the parking lot of the tall capital one building. Saw signs about this place in the garage while we were heading to Wegmans so we decided to give it a shot. This place is located on the roof of the same building as the Wegmans. There's a couple of elevators you could take to get up there. The space on the roof is pretty big. There is a good amount of seating in the Biergarten and in the grass but it was so busy we had to go to a standing room only counter. There was also a stage, a large tv screen, corn hole, and a large chess board. The view of Tysons is pretty good up there too. As far as beers we got the Mariah and the Ramble On. The Mariah was nice and tart, a little sweet but I didn't get a lot of raspberry. The Ramble On wasn't too bitter and got a decent citrus taste. Overall the beer isn't too bad but the view and ambiance of the place makes this a great place to spend a few hours. read more

Beer and scenery is great. Came here on a Saturday evening and they have a lawn area for concerts. The cover band was on point with all my favorite alternative rock covers! It was pretty crowded so didn't have much seating, but enough if you're okay sitting on the grass. The area is great with a giant chess board, two corn hole sets and a fantastic rooftop view. Beer was good. Food was okay but expensive for what you get. The shoe string fries were small and skinny for the amount and the pretzel wasn't too memorable. Beers on the other hand were quite good. Visited here for the first time for a work event last week - awesome! Kent, the manager, was very easy to work with. He provided wrist bands and checked on us regularly. It's very easy to find. Park in the Wegmans lot (pay to park), take the elevator up to the 11th floor, and there it is. You cannot take food out of there or drinks, or bring things in, but they have plenty (full bar and about 6 items on the menu that serves anyone). Keep in mind this is on the roof and shockingly, it gets about 10 degrees colder than when downstairs. We went and the wind was GOING, it was pretty cold. There are tvs (for game time) they have live music every day. It's just a fun place. And definitely saw some kids and dogs so pet and family friendly. read more
