Absolutely fabulous!! If you like cinnamon, try the churro with dulce de leche, it's one of the best donuts I have ever tasted. If peanut butter and chocolate is more your thing, try the peanut butter blossom cookie, it's delightful. But, if you're looking for something a little different, try one of the savory options, both the Tikka and the Skyline donuts are delicious, and a bit unexpected. I've been wanting to try this bakery since they opened their doors in Cincinnati. For one reason or another, we never made it. Today we were in the area and decided to stop by. We were not disappointed! The tiny white painted shop could be easily missed if you aren't paying attention. We were greeted by the very helpful staff. I assume one may have been an owner. They helped us to determine which donut we might be interested in. After much thought, we got 2 sweet donuts and one savory. Neither of us had much experience with brioche style donuts. We were pleasantly surprised by the slight sweetness to the dough and pillowy texture. We will definitely be back to try the rotating flavor menu. read more

Starlight is easily my favorite donut shop in the city for many reasons. First, their rotating donut menu. Each month they have new flavors to try, but also a few classics they keep on the menu. Second, their flavors of donuts are so unique! Not only do they have flavors that satisfy your sweet tooth (key lime pie, caramel churro, the list goes on), but they also have savory flavors as well! My favorites have been the hot pimento honey and everything bagel. Starlight also has friendly service. Every time I have been in there I have been greeted and provided with great recommendations. Its mostly family run from the owners, to the cashier, and even the donut jewelry is made by the owners mom! Finally, they don't just have good toppings, the actual donut is ALSO delicious. Can't say this for many places. They do sell out pretty quickly on the weekends, so highly recommend getting there at open to have your choice of all the flavors! read more

I liked it. It's not convenient to us, so I don't know that I'd make an effort to go back. I like his it's a family operation between the chef and his dad who helps out in the front. The creations are creative. Very heavy. My favorite was peaches and cream because the light cream balanced the fried dough. It was fluffy. The cinnamon bun was too heavily iced and not enough cinnamon mix inside. The classic donuts were unfortunately cake and not yeast. It was more of a pastry shop than a donut shop. Simply put - best doughnuts in Cincy! I came here for the first time today and got a great mix of options to bring home and I will definitely be using this place as my go to. The staff here is so friendly and extremely creative with their flavors! I ended up getting the chocolate, vanilla, and raspberry glazed brioche doughnuts, the 'thicc mint' doughnut, a churro doughnut, and a Boston creme. My fiancé and I tried our 'thicc mint' and chocolate doughnut and they were both delicious! The chocolate glazed here is incredible and definitely beats out the other doughnut shops in the area with their classics. My fiancé loves chocolate and mint and it is great seeing somewhere translate it into a doughnut! As far as their flavors - the staff told me that they rotate what they have regularly (hence - the doughnut 'lab'). Something that definitely caught my eye that I'd be interested in trying in the future is their savory doughnuts! They had 3 selections for a savory doughnut - including a vegan option if any plant-based folks want a more unique take on the classic. I recently moved to Norwood and heard fantastic things about the donuts at Starlight Doughnut Lab. Recently, I picked up a half dozen of goodness and couldn't wait to try these! Flavors we picked were The Reese, Cookies N' Cream, S'mores, Everything But The Bagel, and Pimento Cheese with Hot Honey. The fun thing about trying these were that some flavors you don't expect to like as much as you do. I like savory and sweet treats, so Pimento Cheese with Hot Honey sounded fabulous, and it was my definite favorite that day. Everything was delicious! This will be a business I support anytime we are craving donuts or entertaining in general. I visited on a Saturday at 9:05 am (they open at 9 am on Saturdays) and there were already 5-6 customers in line. Without any doubt, these are the best doughnuts I have ever tried. The brioche doughnut style is impeccably good and is something that I think cannot be beat. The variety of sweet and savory doughnut is very good and gives me lots of options. My personal favorite is the Everything Bagel Brioche, and WOW it is incredibly layered, especially with the herb goat cheese filling. Some of our recent favorites include the Jalapeño Popper, Chocolate Covered Strawberry, and Pimento Hot Honey. I highly recommend, but you do have to get there early like when they open because they rapidly run out of their staple doughnuts, which is deservedly so! read more

Full disclosure: I'm typically a cake/old fashioned donut kind of girl, so brioche dough is not really my thing for donuts. I came here to try the different flavors. The lightness of the dough was interesting, but the dough itself didn't seem to hold a lot of the different flavors. The yeasty taste was still rather prominent in every flavor except a mocha dough. The toppings were good. The creams were the portion that stood out the most for me. This month they have a Reese's one with a peanut butter cream filling. I could eat a bowl of that filling. It's amazingly light but still peanut buttery. Same with their everything but the bagel donut. The cream is stellar. The everything donut worked best overall with the light dough, light cream and everything seasoning. The shop itself is small. The staff were delightful. Ultimately, if you like a brioche style donut with some slightly out there flavors, these may be more for you. read more

The everything bagel doughnut is insanely delicious, filled with cream cheese and covered in everything seasoning. These are seriously some of the best donuts I've ever had. You can't go wrong with the brioche variety. My favorite is the everything but the bagel with the hot pepper jelly coming in at a close second and the tangelo jam barely making third. It's hard to pick a favorite, honestly. As far as the other donuts go, they're equally creatively flavored. The churro is always delicious. Make sure to go early, though because they sell out completely sometimes, and they sell out of the favorites pretty early. read more

I visit the most highly rated donut shops in every city and I'm obsessed with finding the perfect apple fritter. This weekend I was eager to try Starlight but, unfortunately, the trip wasn't worth the calories. My first clue should have been the dark brown color of the apple fritter. The fritter had a respectable amount of apples, but the breading had little flavor and, as the color led me to expect, it was overcooked and dry. I took three bites of this 4 dollar fritter and hucked it in the trash. Next, I tried the Samoa. It was decent but, again, the flavor just wasn't there.
