I drove by this unassuming little plaza one day and was stopped at the stop light. I looked over and saw the word donuts and was intrigued. I looked them up online to find gorgeous pictures of cookies that could be artwork, yummy pastries, and specially decorated cakes. I made it my mission to stop by the next time I was in the area. Their hours are a little unique, so make sure to pay close attention to them. They are open early, close midday, then open again and stay open late. This allows for lots of fresh goodies no matter what time of day you can make it! I ventured in late morning on election day. I was greeted by a friendly lady behind the counter who said they were a little picked over due to many people buying goodies for polling places. There were several large danish to choose from but the cheese was the most highly recommended. It is hand crafted and huge for a great price. The cheese filling is some of the creamiest I have ever had. It features the perfect blend of cinnamon and sugar and the pastry itself is exquisite and flaky. Peace out other area bakeries, this is where ill be coming for my danish from now on! I also got a peanut butter donut- filled with peanut butter cream, and topped with reeses pieces. It was so rich and generously sized it was more than I could eat in one sitting! Also in the case were the cutest cookies I have ever seen. The menu mentioned muffins, so id really like to come back and try some of those.

I had to try this bakery based on a recommendation. They didn't have the doughnut assortment I expected, but I did try a few things, a cookie, a cheese crown, a cupcake and a tiny pie. There's an assortment of baked goods, which I liked. The last was nice enough, definitely not overly. It was clean and covid friendly. The cheese crown resembles that of Graeters minutes that white icing poured over it, this focuses more on the cheese flavor. The cookie didn't taste unique it was softer than most. The pies are great! I've tried a few at family gatherings. I love the small pie option because everyone doesn't love pie, so I can enjoy it when my cravings hit. They're open until nine p.m. on a weeknight, which is unusual for a bakery and they had plenty of options at 3 p.m. when most bakeries are out.

We came in for donuts on Mother's Day morning and couldn't leave without getting a dozen! They look amazing and taste even better! I was the only one in the store around 7:45 AM and the two employees helped me pick based on their favorites and what was most popular. A couple standouts were the Wildberry Fritter, Key Lime Pie Donut, Cherry Pie Donut, blueberry Donut (the cream cheese frosting!). They let us take a loaf of bread on our way out at no charge too, I froze it but look forward to trying it soon! It's an iced sweet loaf of some sort.

Pastries were phenomenal. My son had something that was puff pastry with apples nestled in the center. The pastry was both light and flaky, yet still managed to hold the apple filling. I am lumping the apple fritters in with the pastries, not the donuts. They were firm on the outside, yet buttery and soft on the inside. They melted in the mouth. They almost seemed more pastry like than donut. Donuts did not even compare. We tried the apple cider and pumpkin. Both were dense. The pumpkin was a little on the dry side, the apple cider was very dry. My daughter summed it up best. She said it was like stale bread and sweetness. I look forward to visiting Pop's again, and trying more of their pastries. I am particularly interested in the cheese danishes. Maybe I will even work up the courage to try a cookie. They are seriously too cute to eat. Pop's also has cakes.

I came here to try out their version of the traditional Paczki (which is only available the month leading up to lent). Because it was towards the end of the day I called ahead and the friendly employee offered to put what I wanted aside as stock was low. Although small, there is still room for different assorted cases of goodies, several tables, and adequate spacing. I was impressed by their selection comparatively. This included, breads, rolls, pastries, cakes, and cookies. I picked up my paczki and also grabbed a mini cannoli , as I was surprised to see they carried them! Quick and easy transaction. My only disappointment was that these were not aligned with what traditional paczki are supposed to be. I was surprised to find them with frosting (which to me is sacrilegious), and filled with strawberry creme, instead of jelly. I do not generally like frosting, on anything. These were more like a frosted, filled donut, rather than paczki. The cannoli was tasty.

Bite has been on my husband's list for awhile because he's all about local small businesses. Any who, here is what we ordered.. Blue crab smothered fries 7/10 - So I don't know if they used fresh blue crab or in a tin, but nonetheless this was fairly good. Quite an innovative plate I would say.. I didn't know what to expect, maybe something more like a poutine...? The flavor of the blue crab and shrimp were seasoned very nicely. My only two recommendation would be... 1) they should make their fries fresh in-house - I could tell these were frozen fries and then 2) I would have like to see the "smothered" cheese/sauce be thicker because it was quite watery. Chicken alla vodka 6/10 - The crispy chicken cutlet was very good! Probably the best part of the dish. As for the vodka sauce - I thought that this was just okay and possibly its just my taste preference. There was a heavy taste of possibly too much cream? Or maybe even sour cream? I can't put my finger on it.. I don't know if it's me (it probably is), but I tasted even a hint of mustard...? Anywho... this dish was okay, the chicken really saved it for me. I recommend that they should do grated pecorino vs slices only because the cheese would be even distributed throughout the dish. The vodka pasta tasted better the next day as a leftover because I put a ton of parmesan cheese. Blueberry maple salmon 9/10 - My husband ordered this dish and I would agree that this dish was the winner of the night. Another innovative dish for a quaint local establishment. The salmon had a real nice crisp, cooked perfectly to medium, and there was a really nice smokey taste to the salmon. Overall a good dining experience - definitely small recommendations on a couple of the things we ordered on execution, but nonetheless we'd come back here to support.

I was with a friend that I hadn't seen in a while, and chose to sit outside. This is a perfect place to have a long lunch as they don't care if you stay and visit (we were there for over 2 hours). Our service was good and very friendly. We ordered the fish sandwich with mixed vegetables, and the chicken Caesar sandwich with fries. They were able to blacken my chicken instead of fried chicken, which I appreciated. I also wanted to have my side be onion rings, but they said they couldn't make a side of those, so I ordered the appetizer of onion rings. Holy smokes the serving was HUGE! They were also some of the best onion rings I have had. The sandwiches were cooked perfectly, and the side of broccoli, cauliflower, and asparagus was fantastic. We also ordered iced tea, and it comes in a very large Mason jar and was brewed fresh. Yum. I have read some reviews about dinner that were not as favorable, but for a leisurely lunch, this place cannot be beat and was worth our drive.

We were in town to visit other family members who are local to the area, so we stopped here to pick up some treats to bring along with us on our visit. Busken Bakery is a third-generation, locally owned business in Cincinnati that has been around for nearly 100 years. They have 4 locations listed on their website, with one of them being in Eastgate/Batavia. The selection here includes a variety of homemade breads, cookies, cakes, donuts, pies, and more. Various coffee and other drinks are also available to enjoy with your treats. This location specifically is in the Eastgate/Batavia area, at the intersection of Glen-Este Withamsville Road and Old State Route 74. The storefront is the right corner unit in a small strip mall-type complex called Glen-Este Village Centre. As someone who is not from the area and had never been here specifically, it is relatively easy to navigate to. Their branding is visible on the larger sign for the shopping center, which can be read from the road. Parking here was no issue There are two rows of parking spaces at the front of the shopping center. It was not at all crowded in the complex at the time of our visit, so we easily got a parking spot just steps from the bakery entrance. Our visit here was around 12:40 PM on a Saturday in September. I am assuming the crowd for this place comes in the morning time, given the type of business it is. There were no other customers in the store at the time of our visit. The bakery also has some aspects of a cafe. There are a few bar-height tables, four-top tables, and even a kids table available for patrons in the front of the store. It would be nice to grab some goodies, a nice drink, and hang out for a little bit in the space. They even had some different reading material available for free, too. We took some time to look around at all of the different items in the bakery before deciding what we wanted to order. They have a few bakery cases at the counter filled with different cookies, dipped treats, and other pastries that can be purchased individually or in various quantities. Behind the counter was a selection of donuts. The pre-made cakes sit to the left, and are displayed so it is easy for the customer to see. Throughout the store, there are different tables and displays with the breads, pies, pre-packaged cookies, and seasonal items. I loved the nods to the Cincinnati area all around the space, including the Bengals-themed cookies, the "Chew Dey" sign, and the variety of orange/black/white items to choose from. It was fun to look around at the different items and decorations the staff put together. On the left-hand side, there are a few different coolers with a variety of cold drinks. Also, there are coffee urns with self-serve hot coffee. Greeting cards, candles, and other retail items are in this space as well. The family we were going to visit has a few young children, so we chose to get a tub of the Original Iced Cookies that were pre-packaged. They were decorated as yellow smiley faces, and were a nice size for a child or for an adult as a little treat. We liked the taste of these, and they lasted for several days afterwards. The cookies in the case looked delicious but with the nut flavoring and our particular occasion that we were buying them for, we decided against them. I personally would have loved to try them, as they all looked and sounded so good! Overall, there was a healthy selection of items throughout the store. I thought they would have more variety in terms of cookies, as it seemed like there were only a few different kinds. Same sentiment for the breads. I am not sure if it was just because we were there later in the day, or if that is the way it always is. Maybe next time I will need to stop earlier to get the full experience in this regard. The staff were attentive and helpful. Since we were the only ones in the space, I think they were overly-attentive at points, but that is fine. I am more of a shop on my own-type of shopper, so not my favorite when employees are watching my every move. However, I understand they are simply doing their job and we essentially had their undivided attention. Glad that we found this local bakery to stop at during our trip to Cincinnati! Their products were good, the storefront was decorated and appealing, the staff were all friendly. I would love to return in the future to try more of their items, including these infamous donuts I have been reading about here in other people's reviews. Would recommend giving Busken Bakery a try if you find yourself in the area.

You will not find anything else but your typical bakery goodies so don't expect to get a sandwich to go. While the establishment is primarily for take out, there is one or two outside tables available. As far as the quality of product - these are by far some of the best donuts & pastries I have ever had. The selection is wide to accommodate both the adult crowd as well as the kids who like cute toppings like Oreos, M & M, icing decoration & the works on their sweet treats. Your basic donut runs you $1.25 and cream filled cost a little extra at $1.65. The staff is family owned & they are very pleasant, accommodating people driving hard to please. They accept both cash & credit cards. Do not be surprised to see a line out the door on weekend mornings.... But the wait is well worth it. To find a negative here is hard to do. My only observation so far is the pricing of some items that seem a little excessive. They are donut makers first & the pricing might get lost in the works. Regardless, this is another gem to the Queen City.
