This was THE WORST experience I've ever had at a Starbucks. The workers are all rude and miserable people. It was completely empty when I went in, and right off, the lady taking my order was showing attitude and annoyance. There was one person in our party who didn't get anything, so she told him to go stand outside in freezing weather in light of COVID, although everyone was wearing a mask, but it's fine and understandable, even though she could have said it a little nicer than she did. I got my drink and told my brother to give his friend company outside, and that I'd grab his drink for him. I stood there alone, waiting for his drink, and the lady practically yelled at me for standing there, assuming I was just waiting for I don't know what. So naturally, I tried to explain to her that I was waiting for my brother's drink, and realizing she was in the wrong, she didn't want to apologize and just continued to give nasty remarks, and finished by saying I need to leave right after I get it. A place to wake up A Starbuck's in West Hartford Center. Damn, it just doesn't get any yuppier than this. Right on LaSalle Rd, it gets a lot of traffic and is frequently quite crowded. The store has the usual Starbuck amenities, coffees, different types of lattes and cappuccinos, soft comfy chairs and the ubiquitous non- donut but very tasty and highly caloric desserts. There's one large farmhouse table in the seating area, with a few other small tables and armchairs sprinkled about. It's a good place to study or meet a friend for a quick conversation. DO NOT GO TO THIS STARBUCKS. First of all, it's total chaos. Second of all, the way they're handling mobile orders is disgusting. I ordered a breakfast sandwich and a drink. When I told the staff what I was picking up, the barista looked around at the orders, found a breakfast sandwich that matched my order, and peeled off the label. When I got the sandwich, it was clearly hours old and had been sitting out. It was disgusting. I also heard one of the baristas stop another from giving out a drink, saying "that's been there since 7 am". It was noon at the time. Clearly they are just handing out old food and drink that hasn't been picked up to avoid making new ones. Disgusting, poorly managed, don't waste your time or money. Stopped by here after a run at the West Hartford Reservoir on a recent Saturday morning for a caffeinated treat. Luckily I must have hit it just right as I did not have to wait very long in line nor for my order. After my experience, I agree with the other reviewers. This location is small so there is a very good chance that if you go on a weekend (like when a run at the local Fleet Feet ends) be prepared to wait. There are many seating options but again if you come at a peak time you might have to take your order "to go" as well as bob and weave among the many strollers that come in and out of the store. I also noticed while waiting for my order that in addition to their "regular" coffee varieties this store was brewing several "reserve" varieties. I had never seen this before but maybe because of the economic demographic of it's patrons, this Starbucks can brew and sell more of these specialty coffee varieties. Parking can be tricky depending on what day/time you are here but during the day during the week you can usually find a spot with ease right outside at one of the meters. There is not a ton of seating inside, but if the weather is nice it's a good area to walk around after you grab your drink. I used to come here all the time, it was a busy, but quiet little coffee shop with great service. They did renovations a few of months ago in a, for lack of a better term, modern industrial look. They decreased the seating capacity, which was a rare commodity to begin with, then they added bench seating with tables that are bolted to the floor. You can't move either, uncomfortable at best. They play the music too loud which echos off the walls to an annoying degree. I don't know who they are trying to cater to, but in this case they got it wrong. I have very mixed feelings about this Starbucks location - some good; some not so good. I've been coming here since they first opened many moons ago and while it's about the only 'downtown' location you can find in the Hartford area, it's got drawbacks. One of the major complaints is the lack of [free] parking. That's right - except after 8p and on Sundays, you're paying to park while sipping. The crowd is a bit more diverse than what you'll find in Farmington, Avon and Simsbury - more urban and diverse which I like, but it's also got a fringe element that's kind of tiresome and loud. A few too many bikers and sorts who think this is their personal canteen. Always a couple of poseurs who like to sit around like some sort of misplaced godfather waiting to be paid homage by their underlings...and the wifi has been notorious bad for years. Good: Free Wi-fi (like all Starbucks), baristas that are trained to whip up whatever coffee beverage your mind can dream up, great cafe atmosphere (Starbucks did a nice job setting up this location), and enjoyable ambient music. They are walking distance from my house. Bad: This is the SNOTTIEST Starbucks I have ever been to. I tried this place on more than six different occasions, at different times of day and on different days to make sure it was not someone just having a bad day. Their service sucks and they act like they are doing you a favor when you order or ask for something. I am taking my appreciation for coffee and my business elsewhere. I went to Starbucks this morning not for a cup of Joe, but I went there for their spinach, feta, and egg white wrap. Though it obviously was premade and heated, I got it quickly after my order considering it was a busy Sunday morning. It was tasty and filling. I also got a petite vanilla bean scone. The cashier, excuse me, barista, was very welcoming and was far from the condescending, artsy fartsy hipster I'm used to seeing at any coffee shop. In comparison to other Starbucks, their baked goods selection has much more variety. I don't always see the petite scones, but again, there are a lot of skinny West Hartford SAHMs (stay-at-home moms) who visit there and I can't imagine them ordering a sweet treat. Speaking about skinny women, don't go there when a yoga/zumba class or a running group has just ended. You will feel like the fattest person in line...lol! For some reason, it seems like people bring their babies and toddlers to this location. Why? I'm sorry, but I don't find a Starbucks a place to bring kids for them to scribble on their coloring books. All the strollers inside creates a potential fire trap. I don't recommend studying at this location. If you want to study at a Starbucks in West Hartford, I would go to the Albany Avenue location anytime after noon. The pros: The staff is always super nice and many remember my name and what I order. The drinks are mostly made the way I like them. The cons: This is such a busy location that the line is always out the door. As a result of catering to a high volume of clients, things like the floor being swept are often overlooked. It's not to fault the people who work here. They're always working in super speed and trying to get through the line. This location needs to hire more people and change up the machine stations to be able to accommodate an additional barista. Also they make their espresso with the new more hand-crafty machine here. * A big, long table that's great if you're with a group or have some work to spread out while getting your beverage fix. * Lots of outlets for laptop users. * Good free wifi. Wifi at all Starbucks is now free and provided by AT&T, and the sign-in process is relatively painless. Minuses: * No free parking in West Hartford unless you want to walk. (And I can't help but believe that the city implemented this parking policy to keep the non-yuppie population from spending too much time in the Center) But for those who are thrifty and want to stay thin, there is free parking on Boulevard to the south if you don't mind walking about 5 blocks... * Sometimes crowded, but that's minor. read more

I had company from Minnesota here, and when she placed her order the barista rolled her eyes at a special request for only 2 pumps of syrup instead of 3. Meh. I went into Starbucks to kill some time today. I ordered a latte. Before taking my payment, the guy behind the register scampered over and began making my drink. He then came back a minute later and silently accepted my credit card and then walked away to finish making my drink. I am not sure if maybe he felt this was faster, or more efficient, but it made for a fairly awkward customer experience. (Note: I was the only person in line and there was more than 1 employee/barista behind the counter.) The latte that I eventually received was so-so, it tasted somehow off or nearly burnt? I can't say this is my favorite Starbucks location. As someone who worked at Starbucks for many years, I must say that inept baristas are completely unacceptable to me. I ordered a tall, non-fat, no-whip white mocha. An easy order to fulfill, during a time when it wasn't very busy. The white chocolate syrup is very dense, and the espresso needs to be pour directly atop it, and swirled before the milk is added in order for it to mix with the milk. Alas, this did not happen. I tried to swirl the drink around myself, as I knew that this was the reason my drink tasted like a latte and not a white chocolate mocha. The milk wasn't hot enough to correct the flaw and mix it all together, and as predicted, once I got to the bottom, all of the white chocolate sludge was leftover, leaving the last three sips borderline diabetes inducing. Your usual in the neighborhood Starbucks. This one has that homey feel and was renovated to have that look of modern and cool. The baristas here are friendly and service is great. Coffees come out right each time. This place is always crowded and busy no matter what time you go. I usually bail out of here once coffee is in hand cause there is no where to sit and if there was seat available, the surrounding area was not cleaned up and left a mess by the previous customer. The crowd is diverse with college students with their laptops, the unemployed with their laptops, moms with strollers and the seniors who still read the paper. One of the few Bucks in the state where you can get a Clover brewed cup of coffee. Which is kinda cool, try it it's worth the wait. The management did away with the outside tables, supposedly after some numbnutz spilled coffee on herself due to the tables being uneven. That or she's a numbnutz. Drove my wife to this location since it was the closest to where I live. I dropped her off and stayed outside since there was no parking spot. She ordered a small hot chocolate and left. After i drove off for about 30 seconds, she let me hold her drink and said, "feel this." The cup was only half full and didn't even taste good, apparently this was not the first time but she never told me because to her "she didn't want to cause any trouble".
