The almost an hour long line at the Original Starbucks location was absolutely worth our time. It felt uniquely special being inside the place where the coffee siren first sang its alluring song to countless coffee fans. While the beverages at the this Starbucks are identical to other Starbucks stores, the feeling of being apart of something original here is absolutely priceless. The beverages, by the way, were really well made. We enjoyed Matcha with Mango, hot chocolate and vanilla cold brew while visiting here. After placing the order, the wait wasn't too long. The new reservation system/stand in doesn't serve any purpose at all! They should just turn the whole thing into reservation ONLY. We waited in line to purchased merchs for a gift and we decided to go into stand only line (we came at 6:30am) and we ended up waiting for more than 1 hour. 1. We saw people make a reservation for a time slot and still get placed into the front line even when they came back 10-15mins prior their reserved time; which just make the reservation line longer and the stand in line doesnt even move at all. So whats the point of having two seperate lines when people are getting place into the front line even when they arrive 10-15mins early for their "reservation" time. Just make it reservation only and it will eliminate the line completley and people will come back at their time. 2. They should print out a catalog of their merchs or even menu for people waiting in line; people going to spend way more time than they need to; giving the people the informations they want/need will benefit everyone. 3. This is not a starbucks roaster; just a regular starbucks thats happen to be the first starbucks ever. Each group will spend atleast 10-15mins in there to "look" first before even ourchasing anything; again a catalouge would speed up that process and it would benefit everyone experience. Such an amazing experience! Highly recommend to anyone visiting Seattle! This Starbucks location has a new reservation system, so when you get there you will stand in a short line to choose a reservation time to return and get your drink/explore the shop. Huge shout out to Jesse, who handled the chaotic lines for reservations and to enter the store incredibly well. Especially since a lot of people were trying to cut the line! Every team member we met was so nice and friendly and truly made us have a great experience thanks to all of their amazing customer service. The store has revolving exclusive drinks, and they had samples of the special espresso that they only serve at this store. What I loved most was the fun souvenirs that you can only purchase at this specific store, since it's the first Starbucks location. Must have a reservation!! We had no idea. Their website doesn't mention it. We showed up at 7:25 and they gave us attitude about not having a reservation and then told us we could wait in line for 20 minutes but we probably wouldn't make it in. Total attitude. It closes at 8. We got in at 7:40. They wouldn't allow anyone else to enter the line at about 7:26 so be aware. They need to post this reservation system everyone and have some grace with people who didn't know. Guy managing the line was a jerk. All the staff inside were wonderful. The Original Starbucks location is absolutely worth the visit! As a lover of good coffee, and the iconic "bearista" icon we have all come to know and love, this stop on our family Seattle trip was a necessity!! Get it? the bare necessities?? lol We didn't know we needed to have a reservation. It wasn't too bad of a wait once we arrived. We placed ourselves on the list and shopped around the pike place market just right across the street until it was our turn. Upon walking in, you are greeted by the smells, lovely renovated interiors with the Starbucks green and wooden aspects. We ordered the 3 drinks only available here and curated by baristas to fit the location. One was the Market Latte, so yummy!!!! I would say that one was our favorite, not too sweet, but clearly distinct. With oat milk and a mixture of lavender and honey flavors. We also got the Fuji apple tea and the blue lagoon. Both were great and if I had to pick one I'd pick the Fuji one hands down. The service here is excellent. Better than any Starbucks I've visited, even the reserves. Shoutout to Ivan (I.V) who was so kind and made our time there a hoot! We grabbed our merch and of course cannot wait to use our bearista heat stoppers in VA! read more

It's just coffee people. Overpriced and line way too long for this semi nostalgic tour of a coffee store... Not sure why the lines but it's the same product all over the place. However STARBUCKS just packaged this up to look like some old fashion journey back in time.. Keep in mind these are the same people who have you pay almost $10 for a sugary drink and $20 breakfast item that's reheated for your enjoyment.. BAWAHAHAHAHA SUCKERS ! Anyways I suggest you grab your Java at the other 200 Starbucks locations around Seattle or maybe consider venturing out and trying a real local coffee maker for your caffeine intake... This is the oldest Starbucks that is still in operation. They still use the old Starbucks logo. Usually there's a long line outside, with at least 10 minutes of wait time. A barista at the door ensures no one skips the line and everyone enters the store fairly. Inside the store it's very different from other Starbucks. There are several counter, where staff members show the merchandises to the visitors. All merchandises in this store are unique and not found in any other store. We bought couple of water bottle and the Pike Place mug. The staff members were very friendly. Allowed us all the time we needed to look at many different items. Once we picked our items, we paid right on the spot. I was able to use my Starbucks wallet and get reward stars for the purchase. Alongside merchandise, we ordered strawberry acai and a tea. While waiting for the drinks, we surfed around the shop and took lots of pictures. All products were displayed on the wall shelves. Overall it was a fun experience, the most we ever spent at a Starbucks store :P read more

We came here for the first time on Tuesday. They seem to be always busy so try to book a spot ahead of time to get in that line to get inside. Every employee we encountered here was absolutely kind and helpful that's why I'm giving a shot out to Britney! She was super attentive and patient. We bought a bunch of souvenirs more than what we expected, on top of ordering our drinks. Doesn't matter what time of day you come, there's always a line. Yes they do control the amount of people inside but it does still get a little crowded but definitely worth visiting if you never been. read more

The first Starbucks is one location that I had never actually been to even though I spent so much time here a couple summers ago. It was always busy and had a line half a block deep, so when I walked past them and saw that there was no line and almost no one inside at 10am on a Tuesday in February. I realize that it was my chance to finally visit! I will say this location has the best customer service of any Starbucks I've ever been to. I was warmly greeted and they told me a little bit about the items that they had for sale. Someone was walking around, offering tastes of the pistachio latte and I was able to order from the counter. I will say I did not like my drink. I ordered a mint honey tea (I hadn't seen one in a Starbucks before) and got something similar to perhaps a hibiscus tea. It was not good and I ended up throwing it away, but I did love how nice of an experience it was to visit the store. It felt like a very unique part of the Starbucks brand. All in all I would definitely come back when it's not busy and order something different and I really wish all Starbucks were like this location! read more

It's crazy because when I went there, I made sure that I popped my Starbucks Gold cherry in Seattle...where Starbucks was born and I officially hit Gold AT the very 1st shop!!! Surreal and I never ever thought I'd unlock that achievement EVER. Thanks to my brother ..wrestler Shane "Swerve" Strickland (1st ever Black AEW All Elite Wrestling World Heavyweight Champion).... I got to do it! Just seeing everything from the outside and going inside of this place already has such a historic feel. It feels as if you're stepping into a mini museum. They have the old, original siren logo too, so I HAD to get a coffee container with their original logo for a cool remembrance. We were greeted by some of the nicest staff members who fixed our drinks with the quickness. I was impressed even more because the line was out of the door. Is it worth going here? To me... I was really disappointed to hear that the Starbucks Reserve store closed, so visiting the Original Starbucks at Pike Place Market was the next best thing. The location is definitely small, but it's iconic, and there's something special about experiencing the place where it all began. If you plan to visit, the best time to go is right when they open at 6 a.m. -- that's the only reliable way to avoid the long lines. Otherwise, be prepared to wait outside for quite a while. Despite the crowds, the store offers some great perks: special merchandise that's only available at this location, unique drinks you can't get anywhere else, and of course all the usual Starbucks favorites. The staff was incredibly friendly and answered all my questions, and my drinks came out quickly and tasted great. My reviews are usually the same for these types of corporate chains. Nothing really changes from store to store other than size and displays. At this store, you will probably wait in line to get in. I have been here a few times now and never waited more than five minutes. It can get really busy at peak times, especially when there are lots of tourists here. This medium size location is special, why... because it was their first retail location on Pike Street. Just like my coffee. There were plenty of employees here and the line moved very quickly. They have the perfect blend of employees, customer service and a great product... The team in this location was FANTASTIC.... While I think the entire Starbucks Team is exceptional, I think this group just blends together perfectly. It's extra tough when you have a line all day with no break and everyone trying to get out as fast as possible O.K., enough Kudos... Lets talk coffee. I really enjoy the Pike Blend, their original coffee blend. Rich smooth and no bitterness at all. If this this doesn't keep you coming back for more, I'm not sure what will. I mean, this one is iconic, right. So this is the first Starbucks location. It's a small take out only and they run a very efficient operation. They have their standard and seasonal menu offerings, lots of beans, and lots of cool merchandise. Even if you're not a Starbucks loyalist, you are likely to enjoy yourself here. There is a line queued up outside and an employee manning the line. My understanding is that the line gets long and stays long. We arrived early and maybe waited about 10-15 minutes. We had a quick chat with employee one as we waited to get inside. Once inside, another employee explained the process: place orders on the right, merchandise will be handed to you, and wait in the left line for drinks. Once we arrived to the register of employee three, we were warmly greeted. We had a friendly conversation, didn't feel rushed, had our questions answered, purchased merchandise, placed our drinkl order, and then queued up for our drinks. The employee handing is our drinks was also sweet and friendly and we had a quick chat with her before we made our way out. Everyone was so friendly and that experience really made me feel happy. We don't often frequent Starbucks, but they are a strong and reliable option especially when traveling by car. I'm also a sucker for a dragon fruit drink. So there's that. read more

First It's the OG Starbucks. It's the first and they capitalized on this with some cool, one of a kind, merch. There are often long queues but it does move. There's an employee at the entrance that controls the occupancy level. The employee explains there are two sections once inside. One side (left) is where the merch are on display. You don't take the item to the counter, you just look. Take a note of what you want and the staff at the counter will get it for you. The right side is a plaque where you stand to get called up to the available cashier. With the cashier, you order your coffee, get your merchandise, and pay. Pickup is either where you pay or just off to the side. Overall three stars. It's the same menu as everywhere else. No sitting, just pick up and go. read more

A friend of mine is the caregiver of elderly parents. She does everything for them including managing their finances which included their Starbucks accounts. Instead of applauding her for taking care of her parents, Starbucks closed the entire family's reward accounts and kept over $50 worth of gift cards that were on their accounts. I'm not the biggest Starbucks fan but I felt like a visit to Pike Place wouldn't be complete without stopping in to see the oldest Starbucks location. I'm a sucker for unique stuffies so my new Bearista came home with me. Entering the location there were some folks filming but didn't want to wait in line. While I love and appreciate travel videos, authenticity is also big on me. Oh well though, by them leaving it meant a shorter line for me. I asked the cashier what special drinks they have at this location (right now a blueberry muffin latte) but unfortunately I'm allergic to blueberries so they made me a creative ube and vanilla latte and it was great. I really appreciated the cashier asking if he could go rogue and make something fun, while also taking my food sensitivities into consideration. Great service overall. The wait for coffee was longer than what I normally like at a Starbucks but I feel like that's what you can expect at a touristy locale. So nasty, so rude! This has to be the worst customer service I've ever experienced at any place. While in line, well before closing, we were told we wouldn't be able to get in the store. Although the hours online say they close at 7PM, they've actually adjusted their hours to close at 6PM. We were in line at 5:25PM, but the line moved at a snails pace. We just wanted to buy a coffee mug. At 5:37PM, the male barista came out shouting to customers that if we were in the last two rows, we probably wouldn't get in. We stayed in line, as many people began to leave. By then, we had reached the front of the line. A female barista came out yelling the same message. While waiting, my husband approached a couple who was next in line to buy our coffee mug, and we planned to Zelle them the money once they came out. They agreed, and we were grateful. We were almost inside the store when the male barista cut the line off right in front of me. I pleaded with him and explained all we needed was to buy a mug. We are very thankful to the couple who bought our mug for us! But the customer service today and the experience for all the visitors from around the world was unacceptable! I 10/10 DO NOT recommend this location! To make it worse, it was my husband's birthday! The place that calls itself the "oldest standing store,", please do better! Train your employees to be kinder, more patient, and respectful! Also, updating the hours on the website would help prevent these situations. Protip: Come here during a Seahawks game. We conveniently did that when we first visited. It had maybe 4 people in line? Usually the lines go out of the shop! I was able to purchase some original logo mugs and my friends were able to actually order coffee! This Starbucks is definitely a tourist trap -- there's no seats and the shop is very very small. I would not recommend coming here for your next coffee date or even if you want Starbucks. There's another Starbucks on the same block. The lines here are usually long. I think most people get drinks here because it's "the first Starbucks" and people want to cross it off their bucket list. If the lines happen to be short and you're an opportunist like me, go for it. Don't expect it to blow your mind tough, it's pretty much like every Starbucks you've had. read more

Once inside they have it well planned out. You don't need to look at the souvenirs. They have a souvenir menu and are ready packed for you once you order them. Early birds here! Always hearing there is a line and I prefer to avoid crowds. We parked at the Pike Place Garage and early bird before 9am is $15 all day. We got to Starbucks just about a few minutes when they opened at 6am. No line and we went straight up to the cashier. No foods available to purchase and pretty normal menu for drinks of what they offer. Everyone was very nice from the greetings to go inside as they usually have a line to the cashier and getting your coffee from the barista. The worker outside offered to take our picture as he probably knew that's what everyone comes for. Got me a souvenir of the coffee cup. Noticed the pig as a representation which I still need to look up that reason. The shelves in the store that has all the souvenir or cups to purchase are for display and will need to ask so they can get the stock behind them. Often referred to as the first Starbucks, I have passed by here many times, but there is always a very long line. Fortunately, on my birthday, the line was quite short and I decided to check it out. I wouldn't say there's anything particularly different or unique about this Starbucks, although my drink may have been prepared a bit better than my local Starbucks. Since I was in Seattle visiting and I was in the area, my brother convinced me that I should visit the first Starbucks store. Of course, it was very touristy and had a line outside and people holding and directing traffic like this was a LV store. Well, what can I say - I was a tourist. Still gotta check it off. Didn't wait too long, between 5 and 10 minutes and I got in. I could not believe that they were offering Cantaloupe milk tea so I got one. Not bad at all. I would certainly order again. I bumped into the very first Starbucks and was lucky enough to find it pretty empty. I was able to walk in check it out and since it was already very late wanted to attempt to come in the AM the following day. I did that and again got lucky with no line and zero wait. I ended up ordering the cortado and used my birthday gift for it. Also purchased some gifts along with my drink. The cashier was super friendly and outgoing. I waited for my barista to make my order and he was like what if you had an extra shot? I'm like say less. He was like good already added. The best moment ever!!
