I finally got to go inside, last time I just walked past since the line was so long, but this time I waited in line, I will not pass up this time!! Located on Pike Street, steps away from the Pike Place Market Neon Sign, there is a rope tailored line in front to let you know you can't walk straight inside. They have two great Starbucks workers that guide you, and one had an umbrella just in case it started raining again! Once inside, there is two lines and I think this is where it can get confusing. If u look at my photo, the line to the left is getting merchandise, the store part where you can grab your memorabilia and Starbucks bags, and mugs, and if you are not purchasing, you stand on the right side to order your drinks, and they had three workers to get your order, so once you order, you go back to the left side to wait for your drinks to be called out. I ordered the Ube Coconut Macchiato, the new drink that just came out, and the barista making the drinks was very animative so waiting for my drink was not a long wait. (Also my name is Marie, and I had two other places call my name out as "Mary" so idk if it's a Seattle thing? Who knows lol) But overall, great service, drinks tastes the same as any other Starbucks, the drink itself is not Ube enough but I think that's the Filipino in me. (It has to be like Ube halaya in the drink, I think!) Overall, a must if you are in Pike Place Market and don't mind waiting over 30-40 minutes for coffee, it can get busy so don't go here if you need to leave fast. (We went on a Saturday afternoon.) It's a beautiful day for standing in line for 50 minutes for coffee. Truly, this is about the experience, because the coffee is your usual Starbucks (though I will register my significant disappointment that they had no decaf espresso, so we couldn't get our usual flat white. So sad!) We ordered a decaf pour over with heavy cream on ice and that first sip was delicious (and refreshing after having been outside for so long). I get it. It's an experience. But I wouldn't find myself waiting for it again. read more

Imagine a Starbucks without a drive thru, in the busiest part of the city. You walk in and BAMb the traffic rush of people hit you all at once. Lol! This is that famous local, just for that type vibe. I put eyes on at least a team of 7 during my first visit here today. It is also a pretty decent sized one at that. Has the wooden barstool seating along the windows to enjoy the busy, well populated street view of the market. It was definitely a bit of a wait after placing my order, to get my full order. Was about 20 minutes in between me getting my first drink before getting my 2nd one. I did however love the fact that they had the "been there" state cups, which I was able to purchase to add to my collection. My interaction with the young lady at the register taking my order around the 1130am hour. was very pleasant and seamless. This might be one of if not the 2nd largest Starbucks that I have seen out there during my travels. I think this location was established in 2009. If I read the correctly while I was waiting. This is a great location Near Pike Place Market. It sells most of the same items that are available in the original Starbucks store located about three blocks away. My husband purchased one of the shiny, metal, ceramic tumblers with the original logo. The following day we noticed it had some imperfections near the logo, so we returned it. They let us switch it out with no issue. The lines here are much shorter than the one in Pike Place Market. read more

Never had issues with quality / taste of my drinks. Always been consistent with other Starbucks locations! My low rating comes in for the service because multiple times have I had to wait well past the pick up time for my mobile order. I usually wouldn't complain about that, but my most recent visit left me eager to write this review. Estimated pick up time was 6:33, arrived at 6:30. There was one other person waiting for their drink, and 4 employees behind the counter. Two of them were just talking, but I thought maybe they were waiting for a drink to finish blending or mixing or some sort. Then a couple minutes later, one of them notices an empty cup and says "oh my gosh!" because they missed it. At 6:35, a group of people came in and placed orders, and guess what, they got their drinks and were out the door before me! That's when I decided to ask for an update on my order, and one of the employees said they were working on my drink. Fair enough, but still upset that the group coming in long after me got their drinks before me. Guess mobile orders aren't prioritized here. read more

There are three baristas behind the counter. One is only taking the order. One is making the drink and another got sent to restock the merchandise. There are lots of ppl waiting and under staffed. I don't understand why they are sending a person to restock. I ordered cold brewed and waited for 20 mins still not having it. It is more a tourist attraction with coffee being made on the side. You can definitely chat more with the baristas and figure out what you want. The service is slower. Don't know if that is on purpose to give you time to watch them at work or unintentional. But I've never had to wait about 7 minutes for a tall coffee. Everyone is very sweet to talk to. Ah, the original starbucks. As a starbucks addict, I had to come back here. I had been here before but hadn't realized it was a historical landmark until my client said he wanted to see the original one. How stupid did I feel finding that it was this one, one I had been to countless times as its right across from pike place market. There isn't too much of a difference between here and a normal starbucks, except for a small area showcasing some specialty cups that are only sold here. BUT it did say $10 for a cup showing two of em, but the ones I grabbed were apparently $22.95. When she rang me up I was a bit confused as it was over $50 for 2 but whatever, they were nice cups. The service is fast and of course I got a Pike Place roast. Its totally worth going to just to see it! read more

I hate being "that guy" when I leave a not so favorable review but after about seven days of contemplation, I just can't let this one go. Seriously, I don't know what is happening at this location. This is like a rogue Starbucks. I ordered my normal drink, a breve white mocha latte, which I have ordered at Starbucks in 20+ states. They messed it up. Too much milk so it didn't really taste like coffee. No biggie. I go back to the barista and ask him to remake it. Again no biggie. But he gets all defensive and tries to explain to me how he made it exactly as the order describes and that there is an ice shortage. So he remakes it, with exaggerated movements intricately describing each step, proving to me they he made the first drink right, by making an exact duplicate version in drink #2. It was just as bad as drink #1. I go back to the cashier and explain to him what occurred. I asked for a refund. He said that he'd have another barista remake it, yet a third time. So I explained to barista #2 what was wrong with the Drinks #1 & 2. He wasn't too happy about having to remake it so I tried to tread lightly, that is until barista 1 chimes in with his excuses. As a pure reaction, I had to come over the top of him. Barista 2 tries to calm the situation by coming over the top of both of us. So I bit my lip and accepted whatever drink #3 was that Barista 2 served to me (which could be potentially tainted at this point). When I got Drink #3, it was worse than 1 & 2 combined. There was more milk and a few extra pumps of syrup because a damn near went into diabetic fits after the first sip. I decided to take the L for $7 and try again another day. I'm sure once I left, barista #2 and Barista # 1 were giggling like school girls about how they got me. Well yea maybe they did. But F you guys. After several days of "waiting for a lock on my account to clear," which it did not, the incompetent person that I talked to at Starbuck's alleged "Customer Service Department" told me that it could take 7-10 days for Starbucks IT Technical Support to potentially resolve the IT dysfnuctionality on my App and the Starbucks website. It is clear that Starbucks does not care about their customers, who they seem to treat as poorly as the Starbucks employees, who are Unionizing. Now, I entirely understand why those Starbucks employees are Unionizing, and I support their Union quest/aspirations. It seems that Stabucks customers would be well-advised to Unionize. read more

Large starbucks located on the corner of pike and 1st, with a nice view of the pike market sign. I came in at a 10am on a Tuesday, and the place was surprisingly dead. There were a few people enjoying their coffee on the large communal table in the middle, and some tables parking on their laptops at the small round coffee tables in the area. Most of the outlets are covered, and the lighting is pretty dim when you move away from the windows. It seems like this branch is not necessarily designed for studying so much as satisfying tourist cravings. Regardless, service was friendly and quick, and decently staffed. read more

The original Starbucks Reserve is located in a super busy area of Seattle at Pike's Market. The staff is super friendly and informative, and again, have that strong brand dedication. My coworkers and I ended up going to this location several times, mostly out of convenience. However, each time we were there, something went wrong with one of our drinks for our party of 3-4. This means either a drink was forgotten, a drink order was completely wrong, or there was whipped cream when there shouldn't have been. I really enjoyed how friend and informative staff were. They gave directions on where another Reserve was to get a full reserve experience. This location is unable to do this, simply because it is so busy. However, because there were still issues with our drink orders each time we were there, this location gets 4/5 stars. read more

Visiting the Seattle area, I had to drop in and visit the "very first Starbucks." At 1st and Pike Street, it's at the entrance to Seattle's historic Pike Place Market. Great location and plenty of street parking. I'm not sure if the line for coffee or for taking photos in front of this location were longer, but the line for coffee was not excessive. Yes, it was almost to the door, but the staff seemed to have things under control. I was only in line about 5-6 minutes before it was my turn. Ordering my signature drink - "A Bill's Morning Start" - they got it right the first time. A six-shot Venti, four-pump Vanilla, one-pump Mocha, extra-fat, extra-hot, upside down latte - and I was buzzing for the remainder of the day. Polite and friendly staff - clean store and great location. Prices were competitive with other Starbucks with no apparent mark-up due to popularity or location. No food that I could see, but plenty of gifts and other items that I haven't seen at other locations. While waiting in line we noticed a bunch of gnats flying in the case where the brownies, cake pop, cookies are! I'm happy that we were able to visit the 1st& Pike Starbucks which opened in 1971. Hubby had the Pike Place Special Reserve, and I had the Guatemala El Gigante which the barista recommended and it was too sour for my taste. However, I liked the Pike Place Special Reserve was rich and full of flavor, and too bad they only sell it in Seattle. read more

Once inside the store they actually have two line-- one for ordering drinks and one for non-drink (merchandise) purchases. But it goes quickly so you have to know what you want and try to grab it all to be in and out fast. They have a menu of their merchandise items to help you see everything they have. Okay what coffee drinker shouldn't pay homage and come to the holy grail of coffee shops. Went simple and just ordered an Americana and grabbed a few bags of the pikes place coffee blend which I believe you can only get in Seattle. Service was pretty slow and we asked them to grind the coffee beans for us to take home and when the guy put it back in the brown paper bag he didn't put tape on the top to secure it so it dumped out in the bag and made a mess. Luckily we saw this before leaving out the doors and after some delibersting they redone the order and secured the open bsgs this time. read more

Starbucks has a new de facto flagship in downtown Seattle. This former Seattle's Best Coffee has been renovated and rebranded as a Starbucks. It's located right across First from Pike Place Market and unlike the company's nearby original store, is large, airy with plenty of interior and exterior seating. Starbucks is also seeking LEEDS certification for this new store which is great and sets the right tone for this hometown headquartered global brand. I hope this store design signifies the direction Starbucks is taking as they try to reinvent themselves in a continually challenging market.
