I might be biased because I work in the building and I get free coffee here as an employee. But these guys are great. The staff is super friendly and nice. They have so many options to choose from, they have different kinds of milk, coffee, tea and matcha as well. They carry a good amount of sugar free syrups to choose from as well. I really do customize my drink a lot and they do it perfectly. There is some seating available, I usually have never seen it full as people take their coffee and leave. Highly recommend! read more

The coffee here is ok but seems a bit overpriced for me. Whenever I drop by Zoka (which is not often at all as I think it's somewhat expensive!), I usually order iced mocha (the taste is also a hit or miss since they never really spend enough time to mix the choco syrup well into the drink for you once they added your coffee into a cup). But it's ok..I can stir..so...that's not so much of a big problem. The most recent time there, though, I ordered a 16oz sweet and spicy chai and it was $5 (without tax!). Maybe I'm not a regular cafe/coffe drinker...but wow, I didn't realize a drink could be that expensive! Service can be particularly slow, especially in the morning when so many people get in a line just to religiously get their morning jolts! I also don't like the fact that the cashier is also the person taking care of all bakery needs (toasting your bagels/heating up a quiche, putting them in paper bags and passing them out to the people who ordered them, etc). To me, those activities seem to drag the waiting time in the line even longer. Overall, it's an ok place to get coffee if you are already in that area and don't want to walk so far to get your coffee or a quick snack. read more

As for the coffee, in a town like Seattle id say it was just ok being an addict of exotic Japanese brewing methods and single variety. A perfectly functional Zoka, but it just doesn't have the same pizzazz as the Zokas in the University District and Tangletown. Works just fine for Amazon employees who need a caffeine fix or a snack. Some of my coworkers complained about the price, but they're all Starbucks junkies. Not open on weekends, by the way. This is my go-to coffee place, not just because the the proximity to my work, but because they make genuinely good coffee. The baristas remember the regulars and their preferred drinks. Good snacks such as banana bread, cookies, croissant and so on; albeit they are too big. Remember to get their loyalty card if you frequent this place often. read more

I think this is a pretty nice cafe. It's got many different styles of tables, with different sizes to suit your every need. It's kind of busy here most of the time, but the environment is fine for studying. It's kind of nice being far enough where you won't run into someone you know. The look is very clean and almost hold fashion gothic. You can come and do your work and focus because you likely will my run into someone you know. read more

Killing time between job, I came in to Zoka to have a coffee and relax. First, the coffee. Did they take a page from the Starbucks playbook? I ordered a lavender mocha which was neither lavender or mocha. It tasted like burnt coffee. It wasn't cheap at almost $5 for 12 oz. Next, the atmosphere. This place gets very busy with Amazon employees. Once they get it, they don't leave... for hours, so it's hard to get a seat. I give them stars for the music. Often 80s & 90s stuff. That is its saving grace. It's not a destination coffee shop. You wouldn't specifically go here if you weren't working at Amazon or living in the neighborhood. Finally, the service. I give them stars for this. Staff is friendly and accommodating. I don't like to come here (there are better places in the neighborhood), but if you are in a pinch to kill time, but anything but coffee. Good luck finding a place to sit. read more

My favorite coffee in the world, both bean and shop, is Intelligentsia in the Chicago loop. Everything I buy, everything I drink, is judged against that standard. Zoka is not Intelligentsia, but they're as good as I have found in the PNW. I've only ever ordered lattes and cappucinos, but their milk is always perfect and their coffee has a nice, balanced acidity and roastiness that holds up in an espresso drink. Yes, it is very expensive, and yes it is a little slower than a chain operation or a drive-thru coffee house. Quality in substance and preparation do not come cheap, and Zoka's professional baristas handcraft every drink perfectly. Adn even so, it really only takes seconds longer to craft a drink than it would at *famous international subquality coffee chain*. I believe that all of the pastries and quiches are made by the best local bakeries, but I cannot confirm with all certainty. As for the attitude of the staff, I have never, EVER been treated as less than a welcome and cherished customer at Zoka SLU. That's actually the one leg-up they've got on Intelligentsia: those loop kids are (rightfully) total coffee snobs. read more

I lived in Kirkland for over a year and frequented the Zoka in downtown Kirkland weekly. This Zoka is crammed into a office building and certainly lacks the ambiance and personality of Kirkland, but the coffee is just as good. My service was quick and my cappuccino delicious (non-fat, dry, 1 splenda). I hear they are slow and rude in these reviews, but I never experienced anything of the such. The location is convenient but I don't really like the beverage there... I think people have different opinions about the coffee and personally I really don't like it because it was too burnt for my taste and they always overheat the milk for the latte. This location is on the Amazon SLU campus and so now the new 'go-to' for many Amazon folks. The area is pretty airy and open and available to the public (not just Amazon folks). The Zoka's in Greenlake / Tangletown has one of my favorite cappuccinos in Seattle. Been to this location twice and have been disappointed both times. Nothing like the cappuccino in Greenlake! I order the same thing (double short cappuccino). Way too much milk both times. The first cup just felt way too heavy. Gave them another try today. Cup felt better but was still way too light. I would call myself a regular at Zokas (Tangletown and U Village locations) since I started going there when attending UW. I've been hooked since with their delicious desserts and sandwiches. They used to sell soups also but it has been removed for several years now (wish they'd bring that back as it pairs well with the sandwiches). Since moving to the SLU building for Amazon, the Zoka coffee stop is a morning ritual. The cappuccino's are my favorite but compared to the other locations, this one still has some work to do. oh my gosh i loved going to this coffee shop, the staff was SO NICE!! i asked the barista her opinion on what i should order, and she told me if i didn't like my drink she would remake something else for me no problem. the lavender honey chai is amazing, and their sandwiches are really good and super filling! the space is super big too, so there was plenty of space and social distancing. can't wait to go there again! read more
