They recently remodeled it beautifully with more charging outlets and more consideration to those who study/work here. However this is the least comfortable place I've ever worked in. It can be hard to focus with so many people walking around you, kids running around, and chairs being pushed in and out every minute. It also just gets way too crowded at all times and the crowds start at 8am. Orders take a heckin long time to place and wait for. At least the outdoor space is used more, but I almost feel that the remodel made this store worse. read more

First of all, I LOVE the staff here. They are lovely, efficient, professional, and friendly. I used to come to this Starbucks for years, and then it was remodeled. The new design is incredibly overwhelming for me as someone who is neurodivergent and it's definitely not a work-friendly environment anymore (I've heard this from others as well). The design amplifies the noise in the space, seating is much more limited now, and seating is crowded and uncomfortable. I won't even sit down to just sip my drinks...it's way too overstimulating and crowded. Such a bummer because this was my favorite spot for years. Extremely overpriced drinks, very cheap low quality ingredients at massive mark ups. Mostly very heavy on syrups and sugar. Its a known fact and verifiable one that starbucks uses stale very old coffee beans. And you wonder why your coffee just never tastes right. tastes like ash. Also you have to repeat instructions to staff so often. Honestly a kiosk and a robot would be a better experience. And I am being real. Alot of the regulars no longer come here because the experience has gotten so bad. And part of that is due to the unbelievably incompetent manager. The one with the blonde hair. Dont be fooled by the appearance of this place looking full. It used to have way more seating but they somehow rearranged things and put in booths and chairs as filler space. The Starbucks is next to the University of Washington in the mall. It is a big Starbucks and has the students from the University. It is very well equipped with many tables and outlets for the working student. The barista are very knowledgeable and very quick to get your order in and handed to you as quick as possible. While I was there, the turnaround time was really quick(5 min) for the amount of people that they had there. When visiting a Starbucks, customers expect a consistent experience in terms of both their beverage and the time required to receive it. They were spot on! I ordered caramel latte.... I can't function without my cold brew in the mornings... so I'm so glad that there are so many Starbucks locations in this area. But to be completely honest... I prefer going to the little Starbucks on the north side of U Village. However with all the morning construction, it's impossible to get to that one! So I've been mobile ordering from the main location for the past month or so, and they always have my order ready when I drive up. They're very efficient at getting orders out quickly. I usually only order my cold brew, but sometimes I get breakfast as well - sweet cream cold brew + chonga bagel is my fave. I am no longer supporting this location and it won't be because of the morning staff. It will be because management is clearly not interested in providing reliable hours, even if that means they need to raise their wages and provide incentives. After over 20 years of being a loyal supporter of Starbucks, I'm done with this store. I'm going to relieve myself of reliance on Starbucks. Eventually, given the state of things, I expect I'll be a former supporter soon. Rarely do I review a franchise but I feel it's necessary. This location has failed to maintain hours. +1 star for attentive staff. +1 star for friendly atmosphere -1 star for inconsistent stock on hand -1 inconsistent morning hours -1 management's consistent failure to backup their assurances of failed experiences won't happen again. Pro. If you're a consistent customer, who arrives weekly or daily, the baristas/partners are great about getting your drink recalled. The staff is friendly for short banter and makes you feel valued. Con. Hours. This location, despite its flagship status, has consistently had issues with being open on time. Their app doesn't let you know in advance (beyond blocking you from getting a mobile order) they won't be open on time. Customer Service. In fact, recently I arrived at this store whose posted hours weren't adjusted in the app but was greeted with a "new hours" notice, for the 2nd week in a row. Last, two weeks ago, this location also was out of regular core coffees, including Italian, Ethiopian, Sumatra, Pike, and others. The only options on that occasion were reserve (at around $7 per 16-ounces) or Decaf. Summary. So, if you arrive later in the morning (like after 7am) are consistent with your drink order and attendance, the staff will make you feel welcomed. But I discourage showing up in the early mornings, it's clear they have staffing issues. read more

They love to remind you at this location that they are the second-grossing store in the whole chain. It's easy to imagine that that is in fact the case by looking around--even early on a Sunday morning, they have to treat the line like a drive-through. They have a guy on foot, wearing a headset, coming out to take your order and relaying it back to the cashiers and baristas. It's a huge place with tons of tables, chairs, overstuffed chairs, and sofas. They're really trying here to fill all the traditional roles of a coffee shop. They even have a big sidewalk patio with another dozen bistro tables outside. I really try to support the local guys when I am buying my own coffee, but you don't always get to pick the place when someone else is buying. I have to admit this place takes the mission pretty seriously, and they seem to be doing a pretty darn good job. The coffee is still not really my thing, but, clearly, that just comes down to taste, because plenty of other people are loving it in a big way. read more

I really like coming to this Starbucks when I have some extra time in the mornings before work! They are so efficient and nice that I always leave happy with a yummy drink in my hand ready to start my day! I am loyal to the smaller Starbucks on the north side of U village but getting there has been a hassle with all of the construction so I started going to the big one. Ordering on the app is the best way to do it in my opinion. You get there in the morning, park and when you walk inside your drink is pretty much ready. This Starbucks is already busy in the mornings but the afternoons are way worse! Even with that said they are always super efficient and have really great customer service. My new favorite there is the Coconut Cold Brew but my usual is a iced chai tea latte. I always get a friendly goodbye from one of the staff members when leaving with my yummy drink in hand and I am ready to start my day! read more

Coffeelicious fundamentals, it's academic, books scattered about, papers and coffee, is what you will find here. It's warm and welcoming, especially at the late night hours; and a favorite UW student hangout. As far as coffee places go, there are many flavors of Starbucks, especially in Seattle. Some with food, some without tables, and this new concept, which introduces the Clover. It's a twist on the traditional Starbucks, with large communal tables, and power plugs sprinkled everywhere. It feels like a ski lounge, it's a student's haven on a cold day; if you have to study, this is the place, hands down. You have couches for power brainstorming sessions and a bar area for intense one-on-one mixers. If the idea that people do things, because others around them are doing it, then there isn't a better place to study before exams. I'm not going to review the coffee, because I feel everyone generally knows what Starbucks coffee tastes like. It has a nice bold flavor, which is nicely balanced with their private selection of flavors. This place does offer a slightly different brew, if you want a slightly stronger espresso, in my opinion. Look, I know you have been to Starbucks, there are most likely a couple locations in a ten block range of where you are living, but if you are looking for a slightly different experience, come here, relax, and get your dose of academia. read more

This Starbucks location at University Village is the largest of the three corporate Starbucks stores at this upscale shopping mall. It is also the most popular one as it is often crowded with customers with a mix of shoppers, students and working people. The store is located in a corner space next to MAC Cosmetics and Kiehl's. This location has many types of seating available with window seating on the perimeter and outside seating as well. As far as the selection goes, this is one of the better Starbucks to go to as they offer Starbucks Reserve coffees. I stopped by this coffee shop on a weekday afternoon and found it full of people. There was limited seating available. This is comparable to what you will encounter at the Starbucks on University Way which also has this issue of being crowded. Ended up having to settle for one of the window seats to work away on the Google Wi-Fi here which was alright. I do much prefer going to a place where I have my own table to work at, so it was a bit uncomfortable. If you are looking for coffee at University Village, this Starbucks is the best place as far as selection goes. Though it is often crowded. There is a Starbucks near Crate & Barrel at U-Village which is smaller, but also less crowded which may be more preferable to this location if you are looking for a place to chill. read more

Chill Time with the Bro SITREP This is only a few blocks away from where my brother lives in the U.District, so if we are trying to catch our caffeine fix, this is our most logical choice. THE SETUP I love this location because it is huge compared to most of the Starbucks that I am used to in Sacramento, (though one of my favorite home town locations - the one at Alhambra & N Streets - comes pretty close in size. But in terms of crowd-vibe, this is more on par with my favorite Starbucks near UCDavis: a very chill, fun crowd of students and faculty. And what a crowd it is! This is ALWAYS busy. In fact, business-wise, this location is always in the Top 5 revenue grossing Starbucks in the world. [Yet, is that something that you want to be fixated on?] THE MENU What can go wrong here? The coffee menu items are standard and enjoyable. However, I have a problem with the whole Clover-machine concept. If it is designed or more efficiencies and consistencies, then the cost - ie. the labor cost - should be reduced commensurately because of the lack of the labor costs, but it isn't. For that price I'd still rather have the barista make the coffee. THE LOWDOWN An excellent location and fun vibe for one of the busiest University-zoned Starbucks in the world, and in my home hood. read more

Normally, I give Starbucks 2 stars. This particular place is better than average. Firstly, the seating is plentiful. It is also nice that they are open until 1am on weekdays - not many other coffee shops can say that. Because this is a physically large store they don't seem to ever run out of products and you don't ever have to wait more than 5 minutes between ordering and picking up your item(s). If you don't want to walk more than 100yds then you can park in one of the garages and go to one of the 5 Starbucks owned stores in this shopping center. There is one in the QFC, another next to the Microsoft store and Crate and Barrel, a Teavana by Lulu and Evolution by Frans. If that's all too much to handle there's a smaller Sbux on 35th between 70th and 75th with parking. read more

This place really left a sour taste in my mouth every time I left. I went quite a lot to try and study and be productive, as it's in university village; however, a lot of factors muddled the experience. The barista's were a huge disappointing factor. They really seem to not care about customers, seem to be waiting for you to just say what you want and get lost it seems. They are extremely loud also, and on 3-4 occasions, while studying I would hear just such loud laughter and talking for long stretches of time when there was no one in line. No one seemed to care about the messes on the floor, clogged trash bins, and disgusting bathrooms. The coffee I've had tasted really mediocre compared to the other Starbucks I've been to as well, so they don't even have that going for them. It's always incredible packed too, so I've just stopped coming back to this place altogether. Going out of my way for terrible service, a hot crowded room, and little study space seems so stupid to me. Giving a 2nd star because they are open til 2 AM, which is kind of the only thing they have going for them in my opinion. read more

This is my favorite Starbucks! Their coffee is consistently good unlike a lot of other Starbucks locations. The service we have received has always been friendly and efficient. In non-pandemic times I have had trouble finding seating because it is so busy. When the pandemic started, this location was quick to set up a safe and logical protocol for coffee fiends like myself who still wanted to enjoy an occasional trip to my favorite Starbucks. So for a quick grab and go, walk yourself to the other Starbucks that is located directly across the street on the other side of the Village. I have not visited here recently for like several months. My friend and I came here because we were waiting for our kids to finish at a Halloween Party. Since it's so close to the University, there were a lot of students with laptops and flashcards all around. The place was pretty busy, with a bit of a line, but it moved quickly, so that was good. I ordered Passion iced tea, and my friend ordered something decaf with a Blueberry Scone -- she was super happy because they heated the scone for her! We chose to sit outside, even though it was a bit chilly. It was so busy and noisy inside, we thought we wouldn't be able to hold a conversation. I'm glad we chose to go al fresco, because the people-watching was first rate! The food and drink were pretty standard Starbucks, but the one bonus is the Clover Coffee machine they have at this location. Although I didn't partake this time around, it is nice to know there is another place with this heavenly machine. This was a great place to hang out, people watch and enjoy our beverages. I'm really not in the U-Village area very often, but will definitely be back the next time I am! read more

This location is basically open like always and I love sitting outside in the summer and people watch. They have all the exclusive drinks and items, especially the Clover brewing system. My go-to spot for coffee on the way to work most mornings thanks to the mobile app and being open at the butt crack of dawn. Don't expect amazing service when you're here. Most staff seem to be uninterested in making you a great cup of coffee 80% of the time. Not sure if they ever tweak their coffee machine. Some days the espresso tastes burnt or too weak. I think the remodel has gone to the employees heads. While I agree the decor is lovely and I appreciate the increase of seating, some of the staff could use a remodel. Now before I continue let me preface my review by saying I used to work in the Village, so I've been a longtime frequenter of THIS EXACT Starbucks. Before and after work, on my 15 minute break, this was my haven. Once upon a time, I did witness friendly, smiley staffers working within these caffeinated walls...sadly it seems that they've all left. When I stopped in this famous Starbucks recently the girl who took my order was definitely the friendliest of the crew working. However, with a line forming behind me she quickly passed me onto the cashier. The cashier gave me a smirk and asked me a few generic questions in a monotone, uninterested voice and then continued to look away when I replied. Why ask the question if you don't even bother with the answer. I wrote this off as her having a long day...but then after I was rang up at $3.35 for a SHORT gingerbread latte, I was a little curious about my pricey holiday cup. I mean $3.35 seemed a little steep for a measly 8 oz. With the cashier now occupied and ignoring me, I attempted to ask the barista "Um...what is the price of a short latte?" since as I looked around I realized there are no longer prices listed ANYWHERE in this location. The barista blithely replied, "yeah I don't know...you might want to ask one of them" gesturing back to the cashier and company. Ugh...finally girl #1 (the only nice one) showed me. Overall I was sadly disappointed in the service, and as a frequent Starbuck patron, I'm a little sad.
