This Starbucks location is consistently good and the employees are focused and efficient even when it is slammed (around noon the place gets flooded with college students). I live near this location and stop in at least every other week. I have never had a major issue with my order, so it makes me sad to see negative reviews based on one bad drink that could have likely been returned and remade. I ended up here a few times during my visit to Seattle. I was in from the east coast so the fact that they opened up so early (4:30 AM) was what originally caught my eye. They don't have a parking lot, only street parking. I get the impression that the majority of their customers are pedestrian traffic. They got my order right each time which is what concerns me most. The inside of the store was clean and well kept. I sat for a bit while I waited for other stuff to open. It was pleasant place to hang out and enjoy and beverage. I ordered a strawberry matcha, not whatever experimental science project this was. Somehow it tasted like grass, regret, and a vague memory of strawberries that once existed in the same room. The layers were a mess, the color was suspicious, and the flavor? Absolute chaos. I took one sip and genuinely stopped to reflect on my life choices. If this was intentional, I fear for the training process. If it was accidental, I fear even more. I paid real money for this. In this economy. This Starbucks used to be really friendly and helpful which is hard to come by being homeless. They would give me cardboard boxes and trash bags for warmth, and sometimes a drink or food they were getting rid of, though I would buy what I could when I had any money. The past two times though, I asked if they were getting rid of anything that night and they said they didn't give it to individuals, only donate it (myself having not eaten in over a week). Immediately after me an employee came around the counter and 'ordered' and they gave him two food items for free which they joked about. The two then also laughed talked about how they had decided to only give another homeless woman something frozen that had been long forgotten in a freezer or smth just to see if she would eat it, and then laughed at how hungry she was for eating it anyway. It was one of the most messed up acts of cruelty I've encountered, and I've see a lot. I came in again tonight and before one employee could give me anything when I asked, the other stopped them and said 'it's for donation'. You used to be some of the only friendly faces I would see in a month, and now you think making games out of people's starvation is hilarious. Considering I used to be a partner, it seems the quality and expectations have gone downhill. Convenient location by the law school, available parking in the area, and fast service! I like the baristas here as well even though some of them are undergrads at SU who sometimes charge me more for a drink than the usual price I get charged. Shoutout to Tyrell as one of the baristas who always remembers what kind of drink I want. That's the thing about Starbucks baristas---the good ones always know who you are AND what drink you usually get. I study here quite often and use their free Wifi, which I have little problems with. The crowd can get busy, but the baristas do their best to get everyone's drink out in a reasonable amount of time. Apparently Starbucks also sells oatmeal (?!). My friend complained about the oatmeal being too thick, so to Mr. Barista who didn't put enough water into the oatmeal: please put more water into the oatmeal next time :) read more

If you like their matcha lemonade like I do- Do not go to this location. They will make you the most watered down swamp water drink and then charge you for "extra matcha" when in reality that should be how they make the drink to begin with. I have to say: the renovations make me want to give this Starbucks 5 stars. The new Starbucks is modern, sleek, and minimalistic. Juxtaposed to the old store, it looks so much nicer! I love the new stools by the pick-up station. I've recently discovered mobile ordering and this location often has my order waiting for me when I arrive. There have been a few occasions where they'll give me part of my order while the rest is sitting on the little mobile order shelf they have behind the counter. Located right across the street from Seattle University it is a great place to study or grab a bite. I haven't been here for awhile since I graduated, but it has been through some new renovations. I really like the change and I feel like it makes this starbucks stand out from other locations. This place does mobile ordering and it's really quick. When I order online and by the time I get there the drink is ready so speedy service. Aside from the convenient location right across Seattle U on 12th ave., this Starbucks is special. Why? Because they carry a reserve menu and a clover machine. I'm not generally a fan of rating chains, much less the ultimate of Seattle chains, but this one has proven itself on more than one occasion. Like many other sleep deprived law students, this Starbucks has become quite a mecca for the almighty caffeine fix. It was blissful during the summer when the lines were not long, and the seating was plentiful. It got a little worse when the regular law school semester started, and then all hell broke loose when the undergrads returned. (And, apparently the kids at Seattle Academy are free to traipse about the neighborhood at 10am on a school day? This is definitely what I would call "alternative learning.") Still, despite the crowd, the baristas maintain a surprisingly positive attitude, and they have not messed up my strange and complicated drinks ever. They'll even manage to strike up a conversation. It's a welcoming experience. I can also find a place to park myself for a bit most of the time. This place is quite a paradox - while always seemingly busy and crowded, it rarely seems TOO crowded. The experience would be even more beautiful if treat receipts were year-round, but apparently that was a limited time offer. read more

The barista Taylor was really rude to me about my order. I have a milk allergy and she just seemed super annoyed to even help. The store was super slow. When politely asked her to make sure about something regarding my deadly allergy, her manager asked if something was wrong, and she snickered at him (in front of my face) pointed, and said "I'll tell you later." Manager was super apologetic, but said she's caused a lot of complaints lately. Got the store number and complained to corporate. Hopefully they do something about this-It's not just terrible service but people's health at risk that normally don't have to worry at Starbucks. read more

This location is single-handedly getting me through my summer school classes. Every morning I saunter in, all sweaty from the 10-block walk I have to take because I'm too cheap to pay for parking, and I get my $2 coffee. Then they happily offer me a 'treat receipt' for the afternoon--bring it back after 2 pm and you get any grande iced drink for two bucks. So, naturally, I'm back again at 5 for another jolt prior to my evening class. Four bucks a day is a small price to pay for not having a meltdown during class. First time visiting this Starbucks ever. Fantastic environment; Claire made, by far, the most exquisite water I have ever been so blessed as to gulp. The texture of the water was far superior than any water ever consumed. 10/10 would recommend her water to be a Silk Road Commodity, if only it were 1200 she would be an extremely wealthy women trading her water for the rarest gems, jewels, and expensive fabrics. Speaking of, let's get this girl a raise, she needs to be making at least 73k a year, and her duties ought only consist of water provision. This Starbucks is the closest to seattle university so expect it to be typically packed. The drinks are like any other Starbucks. However the Batista's here are never that friendly. The small tables that they have thought the store are awkward and too small to get much done on and it's loud due to a lot of student traffic. This is without a doubt my favorite Starbucks ever! Right across the street from the Seattle University Law School, this Starbucks is always slammed with customers. Nevertheless, the staff manages to go above and beyond in terms of customer service! During their busiest times, the store schedules enough staff to cover the line. Taking orders as far back as 6-8 people from the cash register, this allows a decent head start on your drink so you end up not having to wait as long as you would expect given the crowd. The staff always has a smile and a comment for everyone who walks through. Most of all, however, is the personal attention they display. All of my friends are known by name by most of the staff. Further, they know what we want, and know enough about us to ask us how we are doing. Free extra shots, free options, and the occasional free drink are just some of the great things this wonderful staff does for us. As far as Starbucks goes, this one is pretty good. It can have long lines (it is right across from the law school) but they try to move through people quickly. They have fairly friendly baristas that are there most of the time. Sometimes the baristas even start remembering your drink, which is the first indication of coffee addiction. I've only had bad service/drinks there once or twice and it was usually when they were training new people, which I can't blame them for. If you're at SU and need a cup of coffee, this might be your place. Insider tip: Sometimes the line is about 15-20 people deep, sometimes even back to the door. It's not that they're slow, it's usually in the 10-15 minute breaks between classes at the law school. Either go in, wait in line, and be grumpy (because you haven't had your morning/afternoon/evening coffee yet) or wait about 10 minutes and you'll be fine. read more

I know that it's a Starbucks, but after coming here almost everyday for 4 years its about time I write a review for it. I enjoy Starbucks, because it is always consistent. I know when I order my drink that it will taste the way I had it on previous visits. Don't get me wrong I always like to try new coffee places, but this one is in a convenient location from my school. Also I was a commuter student for my last year so it made a nice place to study between classes. I was always able to snag a seat/table. The lines can be a tad bit long at times with all the SU and Seattle Prep students. The line moves pretty fast though. Last time I went in I saw a free WIFI sign. Of course it would be after I graduate. If you ask for your receipt it should say to come in after 5 for any grande ice drink for 2 bucks. I hate the drip coffee here. This location is your typical Starbucks. It is spacious, but could put in a few more tables/chairs. My main complaint is that it is so freaking cold in here! Why? There is no good business reason for this. I meet with clients at many a Starbucks and have been going to other (non-Starbucks) coffee shops more frequently because of Starbucks' Arctic temperatures. I want my clients as well as myself to be comfortable whilst conducting business. Comfortable for me means not having to wear my wool overcoat inside when discussing projects with clients! The coffee is what it is. Kinda burnt tasting, no refills, etc. In the summer they blast the A/C so you need to bring a sweater if you're going to stick around in there. But since there is no free wifi (unlike every single other coffee shop in Capitol Hill) there is really no point to coming here unless you work nearby and don't have time to go to Stumptown up the street. At least the barristas are pretty nice there. But really I wish a non-Starbucks shop occupied its location. I'd be there daily. read more

I ordered two latte's from this location, and when I handed the young girl my cash payment she looked dumbfounded at one of the pennies and handed it back to me saying "we don't accept Canadian". I really hadn't realized it was Canadian. I said "I understand not large currency, but you can't take this one single penny?" She checked with a co-worker who agreed - no Canadian. So while people are waiting patiently behind me I'm fishing the bottom of my purse for ONE U.S. PENNY rather than cancelling the transaction and using my usual gold starbucks card! Snotty-attitude barrista, ridiculous company policy. By the way, my son works at a store in Bellingham where they have no problem with the occasional Canadian coin. Venti Pumpkin Spice Latte, quadruple shot! That is what I got with my free birthday drink since I'm a gold star member and all. This location is sits directly across from Seattle University. This is the Starbucks I frequent the most. Although if you drive there is only street parking. It's free on the Columbia St block if you can find one. The staff are always friendly as with all other Starbucks. It's also cute and cozy. Only thing missing is a fireplace. read more
