Like someone who loves Starbucks, I enjoy visiting different locations. I still order my favorite drink -- a Strawberry Açaí Refresher with no water and extra strawberries on top. This Black Mountain location is beautiful and very clean. The store isn't too big, but it's well organized and tidy. The staff are cheerful and friendly -- I really like the way they treat customers here. The shopping area is spacious, and parking is very easy. read more

Came here on a hot day with my daughter. Just picked her up from school. I asked the barista for a cup of water. Daughter was feeling a bit faint. Staff told me we had to buy something first. This Starbucks is my second go to (1st is the drive through on PQ Blvd next to the freeway). They've always gotten my drinks correct and have always been friendly to me. The only time I didn't enjoy going here was around 3 or 4 when school came out and the line and bathroom line was full of young students. The vibe was just off because the young kids were just so loud and sometimes unfriendly to the staff. Other than that one time though I always love it here. Parking is usually easy here and the store is roomy to hold a line. I have a Nespresso at home but there is just something about going to a Starbucks in person that I enjoy, haha. Can get pricey but usually I just get espresso shots over ice and that's $4.25 for 4 shots which I think is pretty affordable. I've lived in this neighborhood and been coming to this Starbucks for 20+ years.  It had a warm cozy vibe. There was seating for 20 people, give or take.  It was always humming with school kids and remote workers on their laptops. Great cafe ambience. I've spent many hours and dollars here!  Well they've just remodeled it (April 2023) - and they removed ALL of the tables and chairs.  Yep, there is ZERO seating inside this Starbucks!  To demonstrate their commitment to driving customers away, Starbucks reconfigured the floor plan so that there is no room for tables - ever. That warm and welcoming vibe is history. Now it's just.. sterile. The only advantage this Starbucks had over the one in the Vons next door is the customer seating. Neither has a drive-through, and now neither has seating. We have two walk-up takeout-only Starbucks 100 feet apart! It's like the old joke about the Starbucks inside the other Starbucks, come to life. Someone in Seattle with an MBA made this breathtakingly idiotic decision and got paid for it. This location that has been thriving for decades - and was just remodeled at great expense - is now doomed to fail and close. Brilliant. Since I can no longer sit and enjoy a caffeinated beverage here, there is no reason to ever set foot inside this Starbucks again.  I will use the money I save to get a fancy home espresso maker. The change to the inside although looks more aesthetically pleasing, they took out all of the seating on the inside. Each week my son and myself would study inside for his presentations for school and work on homework together, now with the outdoor seating, we're stuck to deal with the elements. If the purpose was to keep going kids out of the Starbucks as it seems to be the biggest complaint, it does it's job. Starbucks barristas at this particular location need to learn a thing or two of making people's coffee the way they want it to be. They remodeled last month, April 2023, and I immediately hated the new place as soon as I stepped in. It felt way too bright for a Starbucks and ALL of the seating was gone. The productivity space provided by tables was gone and the opportunity to meet a friend here to sit down and enjoy a drink is gone with it. I don't know if this was considered a high-incident store because of interactions with the homeless or youth, but I can't state enough how much I hate the remodel. You can't sit while you wait for your drink or while you're drinking it. You can't study here or get some work done anymore. Starbucks is quietly transforming "high-incident" stored to just not deal with it anymore and now it feels like I should just go next door to the Starbucks inside the VONS... at least I'll get some grocery shopping done there. read more

Their service is very get the job done and move on. It's okay, I get it. I've worked in food service before. The service speed wise? Average. As far as electrical outlets, they're seriously lacking. So if you come to work on your laptop, make sure it's charged because their is no hope for getting an outlet because they are few and far between. Oh a bonus? Clean bathrooms! By far the worst Starbucks I have ever visited. This location is next to my house and I would rather drive to another location instead of coming back to here. The crew consistently messes up drink orders and the customer service is lacking. Today I stood for 30 mins waiting for one cup of coffee while others who ordered behind me got their full orders. On top of that, after my 30 min wait I asked them about my coffee and they just looked at me and continued on working. Angry baristas who screw up your order, then roll their eyes at you when you ask them to please fix it. This has happened multiple times. They are more disorganized than other Starbucks stores in the area and seem often overwhelmed even when there are few customers. There's no drive-through so there goes that excuse. They do NOT seem happy to be there. Very few smiles are returned from behind the counter in this place. A few of the employees are consistently just straight-up rude. This is not based on one experience or two. My kidster has classes in the strip mall, so I'm stuck with them every weekend if I want Starbucks and the small Vons kiosk next door is busy. I usually ignore their lack of professionalism, but this is a cumulative review for all those times these employees treated my family like they were too important to do their jobs right and with some sense of customer service. One of the absolute worst Starbucks I've been to. No one but kids working here and customers were all kids, I felt like a fish out of water. There must be a school nearby or something. I went in to pick up an Uber eats order as a driver and it was very crowded/small inside. The cashier was doing nothing so I asked if I could pick up my order. He told me I had to tell the person at the pickup area but they were too busy throwing other orders down, shouted the name and running away. The worst customer service I have ever received from Starbucks. I went in with my personal cup and asked if they accept. The barista stated that yes but she didn't feel comfortable for it. I said I understand. She did not offer other solutions but she took it with her. Then my boy friend asked me if I saw her facial expression. He said the barista had the awful look when she received my cup that seemed like my personal cup is full of virus. Another barista used one glove to touch my cup but another hand was bare. I am wondering if they think my cup is full of germs. Can I ask them if they did their hand hygeinces wells since they all share the working stations and everyone is touching the equipment repeatedly without sanitizing it. Please educate the baristas how viruses spread and what kind of customer service they shall offer. Came in since I was waiting for my car at the nearby Express Tire. It was 1030am on a Sunday and it was fairly busy with Starbucks and the bagel place next door. There was a new drink that I felt intrigued to order. Smoked butterscotch latte. I ordered the tall with nonfat milk. When I approached the lady who took my order, it seems as though she wasn't happy to be there. She was fast and efficient, but no smile whatsoever. Oh well, maybe she was having a bad day. My order came out quick and the drink was delicious. This is a smaller Starbucks at the end of the shopping center. No drive thru. Long-time customer of this location. Many ups, downs, positives, and challenges over the years. However, this 5-star rating and review is for 2020 specifically since the pandemic started. The customer service and staff has been stellar, very friendly, accommodating, appreciative, and extremely patient with customers who are a bit challenging. They do their best to take care of everyone and not only the regular customers. Service industry is never easy and most of the staff has handled it well. Many instances they appear understaffed especially during those peak times, but once again the staff work through the stress and difficult customers to get the job done. Very impressed by this team! The reviewer a few down from me was not giving the correct facts, so I feel like I need to shine more light on the situation. When you order a GRANDE HOT AMERICANO and the barista can't understand what name you're giving them because you're literally screaming at them, then don't be pissed off that they didn't get your name because you started the interaction off in an unsavory way. Also, you ordered a HOT americano. So don't go drinking out of iced drinks that clearly aren't yours. When a customer comes up to get their drink, it's probably a good practice to ask if a drink is yours if you're not positive so you don't go drinking other peoples beverages. That is NOT what this lady did. She proceeded to drink out 3 different customer's drinks, even when the barista told her explicitly that the drink she was setting down was hers, not those. The customer proceeded to scream at the barista, who is 35 weeks pregnant and just doing her job the way she should be because the customer now felt like a fool for drinking out of the wrong drinks. Sorry but that's on the customer as that point if the barista literally told her that it wasn't hers but she just KEPT ON GOING. You don't get to yell at the barista if you're the one who is wrong. Get off your high horse and ditch the "customer is always right" mentality because guess what, the customer IS NOT always right. There is a line that you don't cross as a customer if you want to be treated a certain way, and I can say as an ex Starbucks shift manager for 10+ years, that we do not get paid enough to take your holier than thou crap. read more

I like this SB. It's conveniently located right next to Golden Bagel and other food locations. Tables in there are not as full as other locations. The staff is friendly. Best part is it is located next to my house. Parking is also great. The only downside is during school season there are lots of teens after school. I usually order my Starbucks drink on the way to the gym and like to go through a drive-through, so I use the Starbucks on Rancho Penasquitos Boulevard at I-15 and love it! They always make my customized drink exactly like I want it and it's yummy. Previously when they were not available for ordering ahead on my mobile device, I took the chance of going to this Starbucks which is closer to my house. I ordered ahead a chocolate cream cold brew with no ice, and was in no hurry to go pick it up since I knew no ice would be melting and diluting my drink. When I showed up about half an hour later, my drink had ice in it which was melted down to little pieces and the drink tasted bland. I didn't want to be "that" complaining customer and I thought it was just an honest mistake so I took it without saying anything about it. However, today my favorite Starbucks at I-15 and Penasquitos Boulevard was again not excepting order ahead so I thought I would give this Starbucks by my house another shot and ordered a venti oat milk iced shaken espresso, light ice. When I picked it up 2/3 of the cup was filled with ice! I politely talked to the employees and told them I had ordered light ice. The employee said, "Oh you want less ice?" I said, "Yes, well let's be on the safe side and say no ice if you call this light ice." He pointed to halfway up my Venti size cup and said, "Well this is how much drink you will get without ice because half the drink is ice." I couldn't believe it. So I took my drink and it was gone by the time I even reached my gym 1 mile away, whereas the same order on multiple occasions from the Starbucks at Rancho Penasquitos Boulevard and I-15 lasts me halfway through my workout as I sip it. What happened to Starbucks making your drink the way you like it or they will remake it the way you want it? This Starbucks will not make your drink the first time the way you want and order it and won't remake it the way you want it either. I did not want 2/3 of the cup filled with ice and hardly any of my customized tasty drink in it at all for nearly $6! I will never give my business to this Starbucks again, not just for drinks but for food or ground coffee or anything else. I will drive the extra distance to get the drink made the way I want it and give all my business to the Starbucks that deserves it.
