Like a good Richmonder, I have to compare this with the Starbucks it replaced, the difference being the drive up element. The older place across the road was very much a coffee shop as opposed to the new iteration, which is more like a dispensary and is in no way conducive to sitting down unless you do it outside. That aside, I have to say: is there is something going on with the choice of the white marble in the walls? At very best, it makes the place as inviting as the inside of a refrigerator. My sister and I decided to stop by at this Starbucks, located in River Road before the Huguenot bridge. They actually originally was on the other side of the shopping center and they moved to the other side which I believe was a bank before. They have plenty of parking space on this location but the drive thru here is busy. We went on a Sunday 12pm and they were busy! We decided to do mobile order and it took a long time for them to get it done, thankfully we only ordered grande hot white chocolate mocha or else we might be waiting for a longer time. This place is small, they have few seating area and a larger seating area on the middle, I felt cramped when we were there and if you are looking for a nice relaxing spot this is not the place to go. Like what i mentioned earlier, staff was pretty busy that's why I couldn't say whether they are friendly or not but I have been to other Starbucks that I had better experience. I think this location can be very very busy especially on their rush hour, so make sure you pack lots of patience when you visit. read more

As far as Starbucks goes, this is one of the "perkiest"! The staff is friendly and accommodating and FAST! I love the area, close to the Huguenot Bridge, near River Road. There are some nice shops nearby and Starbucks provides the perfect respite to chill out from a busy day! There's plenty of parking and seating, and the store is kept immaculate! Just did a mobile order for a tall Caramel Brulee latte. Extra hot as order but only 75% full and whipped cream as requested was missing. When I re requested whipped cream from the barrista, she added a small squirt. Wow my cup is now 77% full. I have been a long time customer of SB, but if the portions keep getting smaller and prices increasing, I may not be much longer. read more

I know, I'm writing a review about a Starbucks. Let the cringing commence. But for real, this Starbucks and this Starbucks alone has provided me with hours of uninterrupted working. With laptop in tow, I head to this Starbucks when I need sunlight and invisibility for a good chunk of time. Windows line the right side of the building, allowing sufficient sunlight to brighten the entire shop. Outlets are readily available for when my laptop battery warns me it's almost out of juice. And no one bothers me. Ever. I order my coffee and snack, plop down at a two top, and proceed to type away until my little heart's content. Located at the end of a strip of shops on River Rd right before the Huguenot bridge, parking is never an issue and I can always find an empty seat. As much as it pains me to go anywhere other than a local coffee shop, sometimes I just need this particular Starbucks to provide me with a working space upon which I know I can count. read more

I frequently shop in this area, but today was the first time that my friend and I decided to meet and catch up. The positives.... It's got great lighting and very bright. Typical Starbucks menu. What I didn't like... the seating..... There were just a few comfortable chairs (about four chairs and a couch) everything else was a hard stiff wood chair. I guess if I was looking for somewhere to do some work it might have been ok, but my friend and I both thought that it wasn't a desirable set up to relax and talk. I was ready to get out of there and go somewhere else. Won't be going there to meet and catch up over coffee or food in the near future. It was ok, just not what we were looking for and won't be back to meet and chat again. I think there are better options in the area. But if you need coffee... It's got it! read more

This is a very friendly place, from the customer service to the patrons themselves! It is a very busy Starbucks weekday mornings before 10, as lots of people stop in and many stay to work or chit chat with others. This place is always very clean and luckily the parking lot and building itself is big enough to accompany the very many patrons. Just as good as any other Starbucks in Richmond (except Carytown, they can't make a cup of coffee to save their lives). The only downfall is the windows are so large and so abundant that you can't really block the sun out. It's really not conducive to meetings or computer work since every table has 12' of window behind it. read more

By far the best Starbucks in the area and that is thanks to the staff! I will travel well out of my way to stop at this location if I have work to do or a meeting even though there are many closer to home. The staff keep this store pristine and have friendly partners that provide amazing customer service regardless of how busy they are. I have seen the store packed with just two employees behind the counter and the drinks continue to fly out with minimal wait. I have seen them multitask and even carry on friendly conversations with customers and continue to make drinks without missing a beat or messing anything up. I have found several true coffee lovers who work there and take the time to explain things and offer suggestions to those who want to explore beyond a basic frapp or americano. If this location was able to add outdoor seating this would be the perfect model location thanks to the staff. Kudos! read more
