This Starbucks has always been great for us. The staff are consistently quick, thorough, and genuinely kind, and our orders have always been handled well. The inside is fairly small and the seating could be kept a little cleaner, but the outdoor seating is especially nice. So I ordered a grande drink with cold foam in a venti cup with cold foam. What I got was about 8 oz of drink and 2 inches of cold foam. Which would not even have been the size of a grande drink. The manager told me that it was because I did not want ice-wrong!!!!!!!! A standard grande drink at Starbucks is 16 fluids oz then there should I been cold foam-which I paid extra for, on top! She was snotty and rude in top of being stupid. I give this Starbucks a one star rating at best! read more

When I lived and worked out in this area, this Starbucks was my go-to for hot and cold beverages. The baristas are friendly and efficient. Stopped in the other day after a many year gap, and it was as warm and friendly as I remembered. Love the wall of customer's pet photos! It keeps me smiling as I wait for my beverage, which arrived with a positive affirmation label on the lid! Love the positivity! Parking can sometimes be a challenge depending on the time of day you stop in. I usually find a spot on the side street. read more

I really like this location. It's across the street from the hospital and friendly staff. I have ordered here both in person and via mobile order. Mobile orders are out individually on a tray by the front window, which I thought was clever. The staff greeted me upon entering and leaving and seemingly complicated drinks are no big deal for them. basic Starbucks. I am not usually a fan, but I had a gift card to use and was doing some volunteer training and we stopped in. I ordered a tea, my teammate got some frap drink. reception was nice, no line, I liked the layout, simple. no codes for restroom use. good experience. The tea I enjoyed was called Rev Up! mix of Black, Oolong and maybe an Orange flavor. It was delightful. The two off the menu I was initially interested in, were not available. read more

I'm not in this area very often, but whenever I do go to this Starbucks, there's usually no place to sit. It is probably because they are only a couple of blocks from Providence Medical Center and assorted nearby clinics. . .surely lots of regular customers from there. I stop here pretty much every morning before work for a grande soy latte, occasionally a tall. The AM staff here are always very friendly and provide great service. They keep the line moving while still adding a personal touch to my morning routine. Almost all of the cashiers and baristas know my drink when they see my face. The best Starbucks morning crew you could ask for. The food and drink are essentially the same as every Starbucks, thus what really matters is the service and attention to detail. What you get at this outlet is a friendly, organized group committed to learning your name, using it, and learning your drink - or drinks if if you mix it up a bit. They put a human face on a large multi-national and make corporate coffee feel personal. The location is close to the Providence Portland Medical Center, thus many regulars to contend with. What a surprise! Starbucks are mostly all the same, right? This one really surprised me. Of course my chai was good and the scones were delicious nice and fresh at 10 in the morning. The aisles were typically narrow but two things really stuck out at me. Make that three. Employees were very friendly and helpful. The bathroom was roomy and perfect with the toilet at 18 and a half inches tall. The biggest surprise came when I went in and out the door. This particular Starbucks has an automatic door release. I am a patient at Frank Cancer Center. I get infusions monthly that are up to 10 hours long. When I get a break between vitals I like to get a latte. If the cashier sees an IV in my arm they won't serve me. They want me to bring a nurse with me. A cancer infusion nurse has more than one patient and cannot go to Starbucks with me. If there was another coffee shop in the hospital I would go there. They are not sympathetic to cancer patients. Providence should not renew their contract. People should not be treated this way. read more

I have been coming to this Starbucks for as long as I've lived in this neighborhood (13+ years). It's convenient. The weekend staff is really friendly and knows what me and my boyfriend order. But whatever warm fuzzies that gave me to offset my uneasy feeling about spending so much money at a huge corporation were blown to bits when they refused to let me hang my missing cat flyer in their "community" board. See, that board is reserved for 501(3)(c) non profit organizations...and cute drawings by schoolchildren promoting Starbucks. In contrast, ALL the independent coffee places in the 'hood (Laurelhurst Cafe, Stark St. Station (formerly Cooper's), Seven Virtues, A&D) kindly posted my flyer (even in their windows). The takeaway? Starbucks wants to give the illusion that they are part of the community, but don't be fooled. I know, I know, I should have known that. read more

Today I went to this starbucks to get my usual cup of coffee. Unfortunately, I never even had a chance to order it because the baristas ignored me twice and took orders from 2 other customers. In each instance, the employees were finishing up with the previous orders and went to the counter ready to take orders after they finished. I wasn't greeted like the other customers that just arrived and cut me, while I was standing right in front of the register waiting. One of the employees named Ryan was the last straw for me. She was finishing up talking to a delivery person and then just went and took the next ladies order who was waiting behind me. I am very upset because this was in the span of 5 mins. I arrived at 2:50 and left at 2:55. Please work on your customer service. read more

Sometimes my mom and I come in here a little later in the evening(An hour or an hour and a half before closing) and boy the atmosphere could not be more frigid. The last time we went in, there were about 5 people sitting at tables and it was an hour before close. We were met by irritated, even a little hostile looks from both of the girls working and it could not have been more clear that we were not welcome. Despite the fact that there were now seven people, my mom and I included, sitting and drinking coffee, the staff continued to clean like we weren't there. They started putting up chairs all around everyone, in total silence. They were not at all friendly. Can you say uncomfortable? I have worked the food business before, I understand how eager you can be to close down and how frustrating it is when you just want to go home but some asshat comes in five minutes before you are closing and makes you stay. This was not the case. Someone needs to relearn those girls on customer service. read more

I don't really like Starbucks that much to begin with; but this one has to be the worst. apparently there is a new manager that doesn't give out 50cent refills, and unless I was to sit there, drink my coffee, and THEN get a refill, it isn't going to happen. I'm sorry, I do more in my day to day life than lounge around and drink coffee. the rules for Starbucks should be across the board as it's such a huge company, and I've never had a problem getting a refill before. I even had my receipt from today when I initially bought my drink downtown; as I work downtown and live really close to this one. which then led to the worker throwing out the receipt and letting me know that, "I can get a cup discount." wow, thanks! ten cents! not to mention you already have all the chairs up, so if I really did want to sit, I couldn't. I too work with the general public, and I know you may want to close up early, but if you're not even allowing me to sit and drink the coffee, then I don't understand how you can set such boundaries for a refill. I know you probably hate your job, as I would too if I had to work for that company; but maybe if you at least smiled and was courteous about it; the situation would have been a little different. but what probably sucks the most is the manager because it truly cost about 10 cents for that coffee for you, especially since I already have the cup, not to mention the amount of coffee you're throwing out at the end of the night, but that's irrelevant. read more
