overall: 2/5 drink: 2/5 service: 2/5 ambiance: 3/5 i was in the area and decided to stop by to get a coffee fix! the inside is dimly lit and everything is dark but cozy. seems like a good study spot. two baristas working who seemed unapproachable- i ordered a 12oz iced pumpkin spice latte for $6 and received what i believe to be a 12oz latter that tastes like bitter milk. i almost spoke up but decided against it when the barista called out my latte and briskly and silently handed the latte across the bar table when i didn't come up to get my drink, after they called out "latte". some of my drink was unfortunately spilled on the counter and i felt a bit unwelcomed and scared to ask if my drink was made correctly or not... will not come back sadly

Shitty service. Don't recommend if you have social anxiety!! The barista had music playing loudly over the speakers, so I couldn't hear my own music. It was symphony music and she asked me to turn it down. When I explained the sound of people eating near me gives me anxiety, she said I could move seats. So I did, right out the door. The food was terrible.

#fatjared say... nothing too special, but nothing too bad about this place! When I enter a local coffee shop I want an experience that is of the city! The place looked nice and was clean, but nothing really stood out as a really cool "Portland" thing. This was my first time visiting the city and I have heard many a story of the coffee in Portland! I felt the choices were lacking. No cool names and no out of the ordinary choices. That being said, that may be the vibe they are going for. Simple no issues and a good quiet place to just be! The stout I had was actually a really solid choice! It's a local brew and the fact they had it bumped this place up in my book. That barista was also really cool! He overheard us wanting to order and actually brought us the stuff before we officially asked for it! Really nice people and a quiet quaint place made it go up, but overall, nothing too special to report!

    Rolling Along ..

Mellow place; big windows with great views and lots of sun; coffee and cookie were excellent; lady was friendly. Not the fanciest place, but still I like it.

The space feels cozy, welcoming, and full of personality. I especially loved the little post-it wall where customers can leave behind anything they want a small detail that makes the café feel even more personal and community-driven. What I ordered: Soft Cream Matcha One of the creamiest matchas I've ever had! The soft cream was incredibly fluffy and smooth, while the matcha itself was bold enough to come through with every sip and also had a coconuty essence to it. It had just the right amount of sweetness without overpowering the matcha. If you love a rich, creamy matcha, this is definitely one to try. Es-Yen A classic Thai-style iced coffee made with condensed milk. This was strong, sweet, and definitely had that much-needed wake-me-up effect! The condensed milk gave it a creamy sweetness while still allowing the bold coffee flavor to shine through. It was the perfect balance of sweet and strong exactly what I needed. Buttered & Sweetened Condensed Milk Toast I originally had my eye on the pandan toast, but it's clearly a popular choice because it was already sold out earlier in the day! So I went with the buttered and sweetened condensed milk toast instead, and I'm so glad I did. The toast was crispy on the outside, buttery, warm, and finished with that sweet condensed milk flavor. Every bite practically melted in my mouth. The pandan toast is definitely on my list for next time! My Portland experience was made even better by my stop at Kaleido Coffee. The owners were so sweet and welcoming, taking the time to give me recommendations and making sure everyone was taken care of even during a busy rush. Until next time, Portland!

They serve heart coffee and they also sell proud Mary. Two legit brands that bolster their reputation for me. The atmosphere inside is clean and modern. Service is generally friendly and fairly efficient. The available bathroom is clean and does not require a code, which is always a perk. This is a great option if you want something that offers more of a neighborhood type of feel. A great choice if you want to pick something to go or if you want to stay and chill for a while. Early in the morning the coffee shop was pretty busy, especially as stores were not opened yet. As it was my first time in the shop it took me awhile to process the menu- this is definitely a coffee focus place (not for tea drinkers). And the focus seems to be on more coffee forward drinks, rather than jacked up with sugar and other stuff like Starbucks. Coffee prices are inline with other coffee stores in the area. As for seating, the shop provides tables seating. Plus there is a nice coffee bar at the windows, which is perfect for people watching. The shop is situated in an iconic part of NW 21st; it exudes sophisticated and timeless charm. Stepping inside, you see the historical bones of the building laced with modern touches of hip decor and thoughtful design. It's a bit retro and a bit edgy all while being chic, so it's very well aligned with Portland itself. Sit on a live edge bench! Enjoy a marshmallow stick. Stare at the luxurious wallpaper. But don't let these things deter you from the epic coffee experience that awaits you. Subtly smooth, adequately bold and flavors aplenty... all served with a smile. The staff is incredibly friendly. My drink was even delivered my table by the barista! The bathroom is clean and parking is available on the street. They have all the classics and then some. There were aromas of homemade chai permeating the space as I sipped my coffee. This is an experience that can't be boiled down to 'just coffee.' It's not just another errand when you're in NW either. It's the kind of place where a random stranger next to you says aloud that 'this is the best coffee in Portland' as you walk by. And they mean it. One of my favorite coffee experiences of the year so far. It's memorable on many levels, and the atmosphere aligns so well with the vibrancy of our city. You owe it to yourself, and to maintaining the true spirit of Portland, to stop in, stay and sip a while. There's no better way to identify with Sterling than through firsthand experience.
