Spacious coffee shop with plenty of space to work and chat with friends. They also have games to play on the tables. Tried their tea and coffee, both were good! Common Grounds offers a large variety menu with plenty of food & drinks to try. Peaceful & welcoming ambiance.

Wonderful coffee shop located in the Hawthorne neighborhood. Ambience is great, small tables throughout and staff is always friendly. The coffee is delicious. My go to is the cappuccino paired with a scrumptious pastry. One of my favorite coffee shops in PDX.

Been latte shopping for a while and have been disappointed... till we found Common Grounds!! Perfect foam, perfect HOT temp... perfect!! Loved the punk, opera music. Clean and cozy.

Good coffee and open late which is tough to find. There are a fair amount of tables but it's very packed so not a lot of seats, but can't blame them. Pretty load so tough study spot. Will have to try the food next time, menu looks good.

Get the orange anise mocha. Love that they stay open late. That's unfortunately rare for coffee shops in Portland.

As i approached the building, I noticed that it was full of people. I fell into the street. I was in and out of consciousness. My heart was racing at the thought that I drove 15 hours and could not get a seat at SCREEN DOOR. As I walked into the building a humble man greeted me. He told me that they would clean off a table for me. WOO HOO. I bursted out crying at the thought that I finally got my seat. As I sat down a soft chair graced my bottom. Beautiful. I looked around and the scenery was beautiful. As I looked at the menu, my eyes sharply turned to the chicken and waffles. Deliciously perfect choice. I ordered my food and got a coffee. My chicken and waffles arrived and I took a bite. I started floating. My soul left my body. I looked down at my body as I floating away, I was enjoying every bite. I reached the heavens. A loud voice said "Its not your time yet. Return and enjoy the rest of your meal." I ascend back to the chair and every chicken and every waffle was gone. The servers were SO kind. I got my check and shead a tear, knowing that was the best meal of my life. Over all from kind servers to and delicious food, SCREEN DOOR was an awesome experience. SCREEN DOOR deserves a 5 star, however I am going to give it a 5 star. I loved every moment. Thank for read my review. Love you.

Mike saved our day, he called the other location to let them know we couldn't make it, and had their kitchen make us a meal. This was beyond kind especially since it was right at closing. If I could give this place 100 stars for service, I would. Living in the South, I was curious to see how their food would be. It was delicious. The chicken and waffles were so good. I also loved my Sonnen Farm beets & baby spinach salad. The space is super cozy and homey. I highly recommend eating here for good food and great service.

The artist formerly known as Price played overhead. A light warm breeze lapped at my ankles, while the AC froze my left shoulder. The Bloody Mary's (spicy as I am dirty slut who needs a beer back) were warming. We opted for the 'Brunch for two' which was the correct option. The tarragon and acidity balanced the salad course, while salty, fortifying undertones during the charcuterie course brought the quality of THE MEAT forward. We finished bloodies and opted for a spritz each. The Ham Benedict slapped with the 'laser potatoe' stealing the show. By this time the relaxed pacing welcomed warm summer air into the warehouse. A group of bears, fresh from pride weekend clucked over the to-go options. A couple sat nearby looking at homes, clearly in love and excited for what tomorrow's dreams held. Then the blackberry short cake dessert arrived; wow cream, berry, soft malt, air(?), so good. My spouse and I left full, satisfied, and hopeful for tomorrow. Olympia Provisions is what you want in an outing. No complains whatsoever, fantastic 5/5 stars.

Everything we ordered was gorgeous and whimsical in presentation, but of course that would mean little without the flavors to back it all up, which it had in spades. The Thai steak tartare tostadas were incredibly balanced, with brightness and herbaceous notes from the vegetables, herbs, and sauce, great punch from the Thai spices, richness from the tartare, and a nice snap and slight nuttiness from the tapioca crisps cradling everything underneath. The foie gras dumplings were simply divine. I expected them to be rich and dense, but they were like little pillows, with a savory filling and a perfect balance of smoked leek broth, crispy fried leeks, and a caramelized shallot jam that ended up being the surprise star of the dish for me. Then came the main event, the Duck Stack, which I can only describe as a McGriddle on steroids (in the best possible way!). Somehow it all worked beautifully, with the rich duck gravy, fluffy pancakes drenched in syrup, spiced onions, and a fried duck egg tying everything together in perfect harmony. It was one of those dishes that sounds wild on paper but is totally brilliant on the plate and in your mouth. Really fantastic meal from start to finish, and I'm already excited to come back to try more of the menu (and the happy hour!) on a future visit.

There was a short line forming. The large windows give you a sneak peek at the opulence waiting inside. Upon walking in the main entrance, the first thing I noticed were the chandeliers. The inside is gorgeous. The walls are painted various shades of greens making it bright and gives off a soft and natural feel. Given I was dining solo, I decided to seat at the bar located off to the left. It seats 12 comfortably. A big plus for me are the seats. They had a high back and are super comfortable. I could see sitting for hours gabbing with friends. Nice upbeat electronic music played in the background. Loud enough to hear but soft enough that you can hear who is next to you. I ordered the Omelette du jour - Three egg omelette special with bacon, spinach, caramelized onions, gorgonzola and blue cheese. It was fantastic. The first thing that hit my palate was the blue cheese and caramelized onions. Delicious combination. I was happy to see that the omelette was overflowing with caramelized onions as I love them. The accompanying roasted potatoes were cooked perfectly. I also got an espresso martini to wake me up and give me a buzz to start my day. Upon first impression, if I lived in Portland, I would come here weekly. I could see this being the place for brunch with girlfriends to catch up over cocktails.

I really dig how superb the service was here considering how many tables this place had. I also wanted to applaud the manager on duty that morning to offer a homeless man coffee / food / emergency services when he was saying his head hurts. She handled it professionally and ironically we saw that same homeless man an hour later walking down the same street. Between the genuinely friendly hospitality and the flavor combinations, this spot hits it out of the park and is a must for sandwich lovers. Griddled Mortadella (5/5): An incredibly delicious sandwich that perfectly balances rich, salty, and savory flavors. It comes loaded with a generous portion of grilled mortadella and melted provolone cheese, perfectly moistened with a tangy mustard aioli. The fresh lettuce and bell peppers added a satisfying crunch to every bite. Chefwich - K-Town Steak Sandwich (5/5): A limited-time creation packed into a banh mi roll. It had a generous portion of perfectly tender and sweet bulgogi steak that pairs with their melted jack cheese. The gochujang mayo sauce had a subtle and sweet heat, while the fresh kimchi added crunch and slight acidity to balance the rich meat. Elote Tater Tots (5/5): Definitely a creative side dish. The tots were perfectly fried and topped elote style with cotija cheese, pairing well with the smoky chipotle mayo on the side. Logistics Tip: Street parking is surprisingly easy to find in the surrounding area, even on a busy weekend evening. The restaurant has a spacious layout with plenty of seating options both inside and outside. If you're a first-timer, don't hesitate to ask the staff for suggestions, as they're exceptionally warm, welcoming, and passionate about the menu.
