This is a really nice coffee shop. Super attractive historic building on a corner with big trees. The inside feels spacious with tall ceilings and lots of open space. Staff were really friendly and got me a drink in just a couple minutes, which was tasty. My only complaint is that there aren't more tables, but I understand why there aren't when it gets crowded with people standing. I'll definitely be back. read more

Longtime Peet's fan! This is the last Peet's standing in Portland, and I'm grateful they're still here! I LOVE Peet's espresso--it's got hints of chocolate, hazelnut and caramel, which make for a delicious cold espresso drink, my usual. The staff here is always friendly, and most (except for a couple new Peetniks) know my order by heart. Yes, Portland is a coffee town, and yes, there are some good independents, but most are *really* expensive, and their quality varies too much to make them a staple (imo). Friendly coffee shop off of Broadway in NE Portland. Convenient on my route, and ordering through the Peet's app ahead of time is even better. I am a sucker for their almond croissants, and the everything bagel is great. I don't think you can go wrong with any of the pastries. I get a quad shot white mocha and love the espresso combined with whip cream is what I crave to get me going in the morning. Definitely a neighborhood coffee shop, the chairs along the sidewalk at Peet's are always occupied, no matter the weather. Scorching hot, a gorgeous day or freezing temperatures, the regulars are there and never look hot or cold! Inside is bright and clean. Service is friendly. The coffee is in the stronger and bitter side, according to my tastebuds, but that's what I crave sometimes. Had a Pete's on my old college campus but never tried it. Went to my first brick and mortar Pete's and it did not impress. The place was clean and friendly enough but the coffee just wasn't quality. The baristas are incorrectly filing orders. Since the shop is next door, we've continued to go for 2 years because of the convenience. It was extremely hot and we decided to treat ourselves with some refreshing drinks. The store was empty and we were greeted instantly. There was no seating etc. due to covid and the tables had been rearranged to accommodate social distancing .We ordered the Citrus Hibiscus shaker and the yuzu Lemon Iced shaker along with a butter croissant . Never too busy, pretty easy to find street parking (I had to circle around once but no big deal), not hip and trendy (that's a good thing), and lots of choices in drinks. The food is typical meh muffins and pastries, some yogurt and those protein pack things - only good in a pinch. I mean, there is a super market across the street and a couple blocks down, so why? Just why? There is plenty of seating and it's not very noisy. I could work here or have a not too important meeting with no problem at all. The coffee is right in the middle. Not too acidic like so much of the coffee in Portland, and not too strong. It makes a really nice latte. They will do a french press if you're craving a stronger cup. I like lattes and they make them pretty well. The staff has always been friendly when I've been in there, although sometimes they do take their time. Peet's drivers are the most inconsiderate self centered people on the road!!! Had one this morning cut right in front of my bumper, less than 10 ft in front of me on HWY 26 doing 60mph heading into Sandy Oregon. Upon following her, she started throwing trash out of her driver side window which some of it hit my windshield!! I speed up to get her license plate no 363-HVG Oregon. I passed her to get a look at the driver and moved back over into the slow lane. She didn't like that, and she sped up, passed me and nearly hit my front fender coming over into my lane again before passing me completely!!! This was 6:35am. She finally turned off into Sandy Oregon on Champion Way. Thankfully, there are lots of other coffees to choose from out there. Looking at your grey vans on the road or sitting neatly on the grocery Selves, your product will only now be a constant reminder of how some of Peet's employees act towards the general public. I will no longer buy your product. You hire unprofessional people that advertise your products driving reckless on our roads and put lives in danger. Shame on you!!! read more

I went there hundreds. What I like more of this coffee is its people, both clerks and customers. Smiling faces is a good way to wake up even more important then having a not so perfect coffee. They struggle on providing the best service they can, and they are good at that. Ordering is fast, Wifi is not. Coffee is decent, nothing special. Pastries are close to the worst you can have, often too dry, selection is good though. Recommended if you care about enjoy a good ambient while sipping your coffee, not recommended for a good coffee and pastry take away. read more

After walking a ways to grab a cup of Chai tea and a treat at Pete's, pretty disappointed. They have "for here" wares but mine came automatically in "to go" wares, without even asking. I planned to sit and enjoy myself while having my tea and treat, which I did, but just using landfill wares. It's more desirable to use a plate and real cup. My treat was a muffin. It was dry and stuck to the muffin paraffin, or whatever that is. It had so much potential to be good, but it just tasted like it was several days past its prime. I went to the counter to inquire and was told it was fresh from the morning. I didn't want it and said I'd like to trade it for something softer to chew and swallow. The cashier acted like I was insulting her somehow, charged me for a replacement treat, and told me I could throw the dry, icky muffin away myself. Too bad, Pete's. Mmmmmmm Coffee. I like this Peet's primarily for its proximity to my house. When meeting a friend for coffee, it's either this place or the Starbucks. And I've got my street cred to think about, so I never suggest Starbucks. Peet's offers vegan pumpkin flavoring for that fall favorite, the pumpkin spiced latte. They also offer bananas, the breakfast of champions. I think they used to offer a few vegan baked goods, but I haven't seen any on display recently. Service is always quick and friendly, it's priced fairly affordably, and the coffee's not bad. With lots of seating, there's always room for me and my best friend du jour to sit and gab about life for an hour or so. This is a solid coffee shop--nothing too extra-special fancy about it, but that's part of it's charm. It's just decent coffee at decent prices located very close to my house. I have heard good things about Peet's Coffee and decided to give it a try after a particularly stressful day, upon checking in I was offered a coupon which is always nice. I like that the business is engaged in their YELP profile and that they are open after 6. The pumpkin latte I ordered was delicious. The barista misheard my asking for a medium for being a small and quickly used an adorable and timeless star wars joke about working on his Jedi mind tricks when he realized his mistake. He was polite and helpful, and though I unfamiliar with the menu he quickly and politely informed me exactly what a "Freddo" is (pronounced fray-doe). Which is a blended, frothy drink. My only complaint about this place is it has a slightly Starbucks feel to it, a little cold too. But those are very minor complaints and I will definitely be returning to Peet's for another Pumpkin Latte in the near future. P.S. The milk texture was superb, though that should be a requirement I am often disappointed by a lack of foam and stirring. Hats off to the barista here tonight! read more

I just moved to Portland and further the neighborhood. I came here for a caffeinated beverage as a break from work (I work at home) and was welcomed by such friendly baristas! That makes such a difference when you walk into a food-related shop :) I ordered a pumpkin latte with almond milk (they now have almond milk!!!!). Unfortunately, they put whipped cream and caramel on it, I figured they would have asked me if I still wanted whipped cream since I ordered a beverage with non-dairy milk. Oh well, if you are vegan (like myself) remember to ask for no whipped cream and caramel! Otherwise the barista was super nice about changing my drink for me. I like coming here for my breaks just to see some smiling faces. The drink was delicious -- I recommend coming here for a grab-and-go or to stay and chat. Abstract: Good Coffee and friendly service make a good combination. Plus, they have kids' cocoa that won't scald your little one's mouth. Peet's is my neighborhood coffee shop. Yes, it's a chain, but that doesn't bother me. First of all, I'm from the Bay Area, and grew up with Peet's as the homegrown chain anyway. Secondly, all the coffee places within walking distance of my house are chains (including Caffe D'Arte and The Palace Of The Green Mermaid), and Peet's is the closest. This is an asset when walking with a toddler; I prefer not to cross Broadway with her if I don't have to. Thirdly, I buy Peet's gift cards through my daughter's daycare, 10% of the proceeds of which go to the daycare, so I figure I have an obligation. Ambience/Food: Peet's has numerous places to sit and watch the pulsebeat of Irvington's commercial district. They provide free wifi access per hour - I think you can get a new code if you ask for one and buy a drink or something when the hour is up. They have good, flavorful coffees, and will make all of the mocha-latte-caramel-sugar-freddo thingies you want, if that's your bent. My standard drink is a cafe au lait with heavy cream, a customization they handle with no problems. It does cost a dollar extra, however. For my daughter, they have the kids' cocoa. Made with your choice of milk type and gettable with or without whipped cream, the cocoa is served cool so that your kiddo can gulp it down with burning his- or herself. This is important, because children and patience don't mix, which leads to scalding and misery with most hot cocoa. Also, it is made with MILK, and so tastes like cocoa should. We go at least once a week, and she loves the journey. Service: Everyone behind the counter is friendly, thoughtful, and prompt. I have rarely had any issues with service here, and when they've cropped up, they were handled quickly and politely (and the issues themselves were minor: one guy accidentally got us a milk instead of a cocoa, for example). THE BOTTOM LINE: Peet's provides excellent coffee and service for a reasonable price, and is a good place to spend half an hour in Northeast Portland. I have been coming to (my!) Peet's everyday for nearly 5 years. Although living in Portland means plenty of places to get coffee, this is my spot. And it's all because of the people who work here. They are the most friendly and welcoming staff I have ever come across. None of that pretentious, hipster vibe here...just a nice smile and "good morning" every time I come in. Kate, Sarah, Leisl and Miriam have taken care of me since I started coming in, but the newer people are just as great. There is definitely a reason why this is store where they train for other locations! I could just buy a bag and brew at home saving me all sorts of money, but when I come in I get more than a coffee...I see people that genuinely get my day off to great start! read more

I dont know who to blame for the lackluster espresso fare at Peet's but ultimately would likely have to absolve the staff at this location of any blame considering it is the choices made by corporate that inspire the bulk of my critique. This is one of, if not the absolute worst place for vegan-espresso-options. Their white chocolate, caramel, and chocolate syrups all contain dairy as do their smoothie options. This, in addition to a generally lackluster menu that does little to differentiate itself from other ambiguous corporate coffee brands earns Peet's a 3 star review. I've been a fan of Peets coffee for most of my life. I have lived in Portland now for 20 years, and even though Portland has some great coffee roasters, they don't match up to Peets. I also care to note that there isn't any of that negative vibe you so often see at other local spots, just great service with a smile. This location is my favorite. This is my neighborhood coffee shop and I love it. I'm not a trendy, sweet coffee drinker - preferring drip coffee with just a little bit of milk. The NE Broadway Peet's has wonderful drip coffee, friendly and fast staff. It's always clean, which means a lot to me. When I get the rare opportunity to stop here and drink my coffee on site, I like the atmosphere. Broadway is great for people watching, and there is never any feeling that you're being moved along. read more

It's not easy being a barista but you serve scalding hot drinks and should at least know basic first aid for scalds as well as offering a heart felt apology and a free drink card! Whose your manager?! They now have a blistered burn on their thigh. We are documenting. How am I to know that you didn't pour scalding hot tea on their lap on purpose to keep disabled people out of your store?! You know what you do when you pour a scalding hot drink in someone's lap? Say excuse me, move their belongings and immediately pour a glass of cool water or ice into their lap to minimize the damage. Both things you have on hand. This lovely store has a stained glass window in front and pretty windows all around. It reminds me of Berkeley, or nothern CA. Not quite enough seating, but a lovely old building. Everyone sits there being above average, working out of the office, with their slightly tarnished technical equipment, just like in Berkeley. Most of the families are partially foreign-- a Brit and an American. An American and a Thai. Each of these unions has approximately 1.3 non-typical but above-average children,( due to the stress of the transcontinental lifestyle). Just like in Berkeley. A transvestite sits predictably in front. Just like Berkeley. Kind of creepy neighborhood, but everyone ignores that. Just like Berkeley. The coffee is Peets coffee. I love it. read more
