    Unmashed madeleines
    Terry O.

Starbucks? Really? Everybody knows Starbucks. This is about my experience at this particular location. I have two favorite things at Starbucks--their flat white which is pretty good and the packages of madeleines. That's what I ordered and was happy they had the madeleines, which are often out of stock these days. I pulled up close to the window and the worker held the madeleines out to me. My hand was on the pack but not closed around it when she let go. Fudge! It hit the ground and went under the car. Here's where I have the problem. To the worker, it was like a non-event. No reaction whatsoever. I opened my door to see if I could get it and couldn't even see it. However, there were plenty of pennies on the ground next to the car. I was parked too close to the window to get out to find the package. Many times at drive-thru windows I have dropped change. Usually the worker says don't worry about and gives me new change. That's what I was expecting, but no, not this time. I did ask her if she could see it, and she said it was under the door. Then she handed me my coffee and closed the window. Since I was too close to get out, I slowly moved forward, checking to see if the madeleines came into view. Nope! But when I heard the soft POP, I knew exactly where they were, and there they stayed. I can't help but wonder what would have happened if it was coffee that dropped. Was the worker too inexperienced to know what to do? Or is it the policy at this location that if something drops, that's just too bad.

I've been physically inside this Starbucks and this morning was an opportunity to use the drive through window. The young lady who took my order selected the wrong item I requested though the speaker system but it was corrected once I saw the item on the screen. The next issue was asking her to charge my gift card for the car behind me, a complete stranger. She had to perform 2 different transactions when she could of placed both charges on 1 ticket. Go figure....the reason why I lowered my rating. I hope a co-worker helped her understand why this wasn't efficient or complicated after I left.

This new Starbucks location is conveniently located on the end of a strip near 72 and Pacific. At the time of this review they are one of three Starbucks locations in Omaha that carries Reserve Coffee. They also have a complete selection of bakery items. The coffee was what you would expect from Starbucks. I had several meetings here this morning, and the place was consistently busy, though never packed. Though they have an entry way to help regulate the temperature, they need to work on their heating. It is 35 degrees outside today, and very chilly inside. I never took my coat off and my toes are chilled. If they can figure out the heating issue, I can see myself frequenting this location. It is centrally located within Omaha with quick access to I-80 and Dodge. A great place to meet people!

What can I say about Starbucks that you don't already know? The breakfast sandwiches are awesome and the pumpkin loaves scream eat me. But my favorite by far is a grande chai tea latte. It's smooth and has just enough of the frothy goodness to get me going in the morning. The location is cool. Not a lot of parking, but it's Omaha. I'm from Atlanta so I've got to be fair. It's enough. Got in got out and loved every bit of the seamless exchange. Money for a shot of life to get my day started.

Oh, look at that... My name is spelled wrong... Nice try, Starbucks #freemarketing

The space is relaxed and has a welcoming vibe with two distinct seating areas offering a mix of tables, lounge chairs, and sofas. The music is at a comfortable level, with plenty of folks settled in on their laptops working and studying. Even though it was cold outside, I ordered a medium iced mocha. It was rich and chocolaty without being overly sweet. Despite a decent crowd inside, my drink was ready within minutes and service was genuinely friendly. Overall, this is a solid neighborhood coffee shop that's worth the short walk if you're staying nearby.

The cashier was friendly and helped me apply the eGift card that I had purchased. The Bees Knees Latte that I used to order is no longer on the menu, so I tried a Honey Bee, similar, just without the aromatics. Not as good, but I am sure I could have asked for something closer to the original latte, so that is not on them. Ambience is great, well decorated, and plenty of tables. The baristas were having a conversation that would be deemed inappropriate by many, especially since the young man had a few colorful things to say that got some good laughs from his coworkers; luckily, I don't mind hearing the gossip while I wait for my beverage. Fairly quick service considering how busy they were. I recommend stopping by if there is a free space open.

The decor is minimal but I loved the different gold mirrors. When I ordered the cashier at the counter was all smiles and just a delight to talk to, she was super friendly. There are three flavors of smoothies to choose from: mango, wild berry, and strawberry. The Crescent Brûlée is a blend of caramel and vanilla, topped with whipped cream and a burnt sugar top. Both of the drinks we had tasted good. I'm not a big smoothie person--in fact, this is my first time ordering a smoothie in a long time--and I was very pleased with it. It was very smooth. Their menu is pretty extensive, in my opinion: coffee, tea, matcha, seasonal lattes, energy drinks, as well as some pastries and breakfast sandwiches. I also appreciated how easy it was to read their menu. I feel like a lot of the time in coffee shops, their menus are all over the place and you have to ask a lot of questions. This menu was nicely written. The shop has a very welcoming vibe, with different plants and displays. They also sell a few different things, such as clothes, sage, stickers, and different stones. Overall, I'd definitely recommend this coffee shop, and I will definitely be back.

The location on 204th Street in Gretna is clean, open, inviting ... but noisy. It's one of those warehouse-type settings where you really have to work at having a private conversation. Seating is expecially comfortable in the big chairs, but then you have to schootch them close together and lean in so you can hear each other, which is unfortunate. Granted, tables are set far apart, but this should be in addition to. Coffee was delicious, but the beignet bites were just so-so. Granted, one should not expect New Orleans beignets outside of New Orleans, but these little donut puffs had only a light dusting of powdered sugar (which I actually was thankful for because I wore black pants!), and there was a not-overly-pleasant surprise inside with an indistinguishable creamy substance that was sort of like the inside of a brown sugar cinnamon poptart, only less so. I hadn't been expecting that. The yogurt parfait was substantial and delicious. (The staff was friendly and helpful when making selections, but it didn't occur to me to ask about fillings.) I might visit again, but maybe at one of the other locations, if acoustics were more promising.
