I really want to like Scooter's but I feel like often I leave kind of let down and this visit was no different. We stopped into this location in downtown Omaha as we wanted a quick coffee on our way home and it was convenient. I think I ordered a cold brew but I am wondering if I messed up and ordered an iced coffee (it literally shocks me that places still even do actual iced coffee) because it was honestly just not good. I think I drank maybe half of it before tossing. Just weak and not a great flavor IMO. It's wild to me that Starbucks is really that much better, but they really are when it comes to a basic black cold brew. Scooter's is fine. It's locally-owned but it has the feel of a chain. I know this might be a plus for people who get coffee in different parts of town, since they would know the menu and not have to decide how to order the thing that they want. This location is easily one of the worst managed I have ever been to. I seriously question the abilities of the workers and the competence of the managers because the level of disorganization in this Scooters is far too high. The baristas clearly don't communicate on which orders are being worked on because they will just work on drinks at random leaving some customers with a half finished order. I visited this location with my mom where we ordered two (2) drinks. Customers who came in after us had their orders (which were larger than ours) completed before even 1 of our drinks was given to us. On top of that, we had to ask if the second drink was being made, which they were clearly confused by because it sounded like they didn't even have our order available to view, and when they did give us the second drink, it was the wrong size. While I don't know exactly how a Scooters is operated, I can tell that this particular location is rampant with mismanagement, a lack of communication, and a general aura of confusion from all sides. I was strolling around the downtown when I came across Scooter's coffee. The cafe is quite large and along with an array of coffees they also offer snacks and a variety of baked good. Located on the old Market road around plenty of shopping and dining spots, this cafe is a great place for a pitstop. As I entered the cafe, there were a big group of kids extremely excited to place their respective orders. To justify their excitement, there are a few selections of bakes, snacks and smoothies, specifically for their age group. I love they variety they have to offer from teas, lemonades to coffees. I ordered for an Iced Turtle Mocha and it was the best iced coffees that I have had! the portion was huge for the price I was paying. The team of baristas were very friendly and quick. They even gave me a guide with a list of places that I could visit in the city. I definitely recommend a visit to the cafe. read more

Tried their honey vanilla latte, which is top of with whip cream. Tasty. Considering their medium comes with 3 shots of espresso, this drink isn't as sweet as it sounds. Kids had hot chocolate with whip cream - love it. Better than other chains. Also had everything bagel with egg and sausage- it's ok. Not a bagel shop, but not bad for a quick bite. I like the remodel they did and the drinks are good. I however hate the scooters app. I don't know why they even offer the order ahead option because they don't start making your drink until you get to the store. You end up waiting in line at the register with everyone else, tell them you're here for your order and then you have to wait for it to be made. All the online ordering does is make it so you don't have to pay in the store.... But everything else is the same. I really don't go here because I don't have time to wait in line for coffee in the mornings. I usually opt for Starbucks because I can order ahead and it's ready at the counter when I get there. I like this Scooter's. After my Bob Kerrey Bridge transit, I just knew I needed some cold water and a cup of tasty coffee. I remember seeing Scooter's while in the Old Market area earlier and made my way back. Very cool that the bank is in their building, but this was a Sunday, so it was closed. I liked the thoughtful barista's who helped me select a nice coffee drink to restore my depleted caffeination to their proper levels. I enjoyed hanging out here--waiting for Happy Hour to begin at Zio's Pizzeria down the street. But I will make some suggestions to Scooter's because I think they are selling themselves short and possibly hurting their "brand," by not being more businesslike. There is NO WAY a coffee shop here in California would let some shabbily dressed homeless people take up space in their coffee shop, USING THE FREE WI-FI, without the rule that a purchase be made and a time limit set up. It was shocking to see a man crashed out on a cozy chair--CHARGING HIS CELL PHONE and PLAYING GAMES for hours on end. I got up to pretend to look at the magazines and periodicals near the window to see if he even had a drink or any food next to him. Nope. When I asked the cashier about this, she said "they don't care." Scooter's is doing their "brand" no favors by this kind of attitude. I have every kind of sympathy for those less fortunate and have done lots of church ministry and donated time and food to help the homeless. So no one need fear that I am bashing the vulnerable. But a business is a business and it is not good business to look the other way while transients take advantage of FREE Wi-Fi for CUSTOMERS! Head's up, Scooter's. Staff refused to give a cup of water and said they don't give out cups of water but I could purchase a large bottle instead. I don't need a large bottle of water for a 2 year old. I love the fact that they're a successful local chain, serving up all the coffeehouse staples, including acceptably tasty baked goods. Add in that this location shares a bay with a First National Bank and you have the reason I usually end up here: for the ATM. The bank element also makes this a slightly weird coffeehouse to sit and work, study or simply relax at. Failing to find a Starbucks in the Old Market, I knew that I would find a Scooter's. Scooter's is to Omaha what Starbucks is to Seattle. Granted, unlike Starbucks in Seattle, you won't find a Scooter's on every street corner. The Old Market Scooter's isn't so much a coffee shop as it is a kiosk that shares its space with a First National Bank on Howard St, one of the main streets that run through the heart of the Old Market. The coffee is decent if unspectacular, certainly no worse than Starbucks. Prices are no worse than Starbucks, either. Thankfully, I don't drink frou frou coffee drinks that cost upwards of $6, so my old school coffee, no cream or sugar, was right around $2.
