a cup of coffee on a table
Re H.

Order a coffee and a bagel. Coffee came out right away. The bagel and food items not so much as fellow coffee drinkers were waiting around too. It's not a bad location. I was annoyed to see another gal stocking shelves instead of helping her fellow worker at the counter who was in charge of taking orders and prepping the food. Oh she came, but only after she was done. Yeah no, not in retail. Get the crowds out. Meh, Starbucks just isn't the same anymore.

My morning coffee spot. Love the whole staff. Not much more to say it's Starbucks so we already know how amazing they are. Order the ice shake and espresso with oat milk, no classic syrup add vanilla syrup.

Today I'm enjoying a Tomato Mozzarella Panini, which is my absolute favorite! My drink of choice is a tall Coffee Frappuccino! I have to say that during this pandemic Statbucks has adjusted and has been my sunshine on cloudy days often! Simple pleasures in life matter so my pleasure is amazing coffee options What's also nice is the customer service I receive. As I always say, #SparklingMatters

Iced Chai Latte

This Starbucks is the worst I've ever been to. They need new staff 100%. Except the tall dark African American gentleman with the glasses. He is so sweet, gentle & kind. He compliments my nails everytime he's there. Everyone else needs to go!!! They always have an attitude and are snappy & sharp with people. Especially the short Asian guy with the black hair & glasses. They never want to do their job, and they always rush orders, getting them wrong, & lacking in the amount of food/drink that the order requires. This is the second time I've had this issue happen. I got a grande hot chai that looked to be drunken or spilled & never filled back up. Then, I got a venti iced chai that was also the same. I regret not taking a picture of the hot one, but this iced one has me fed up. I'm so sick of those people in this business. I never leave reviews but this is ridiculous. They don't get paid enough to do this to people. I would give it 0 if I could.

My cup of ice. Some of it melted, but you get the idea.

This is it. Today was the day that I gave Starbucks one more chance and they failed me. I really never buy iced coffee anymore. David gave me a very nice coffee maker, so I can make iced coffee at home, but I was in a pinch today so I thought I would stop in here and grab a quick cup. Big mistake. Huge. Time and time again they fill the entire cup with big chunks of ice and then put in the coffee. The result is a cup of coffee that I finish before the ice even melts. My grande was probably a quarter cup of actual coffee. Last time I asked them not to do this and they did it anyway. This time I totally forgot to mention it, but I feel as if it's common sense. Just for the record: I don't blame the employees- I know they are only doing as instructed. I blame Starbucks HQ for being stingy with their coffee. As much as they are charging, they should be willing to be a little more accommodating.

Now let's talk about breakfast: Weekday around lunch. About 1/4 of seats taken. As best I could tell, 2 or 3 servers. Coffee, OJ and soda brought promptly after ordering. FYI - drinks reasonably priced. I opted for Spinach & Swiss omelette, hash browns well done and biscuit. He opted for Meatlover's omelette, hash browns and toast. 25 minutes later breakfast was served. Husband's order was fine: tasty omelette, and the toast was well buttered. Mine? The Swiss was sticking out of the omelette and it was a slice not melted. The cheese inside the omelette was melted, and overall it had good flavor. The hash browns had good flavor, but they were not well done. The biscuit was not buttered - there was butter on the table - and it was nice and dense to support slathering it in jelly. The waitress checked on us a couple of times. I made no comment whether it was good or bad, because I was going to eat it anyway. As a general rule I don't send things back, and in this instance given the time it took to get it, I was starved and certainly wasn't sending it back. Leftovers box and checkout was super quick. This experience: 2 stars; averaging to 4 stars for restaurant overall. Will continue to use for pastries, but won't be back for another sit down experience.

Dough Nguyener's Bakery -- 4…read more Dough Nguyener's really introduced me and my son to the flavors of ube and pandan... and I still can't believe I went my whole life without them. Like where have I been?! We are forever grateful for that alone. As someone who already loves Vietnamese culture through food here in New Orleans, this place just hits. Vietnamese coffee is a staple for me--not even for energy, but for the flavor. If you know, you know... that bold, strong, chicory-meets-condensed-milk moment. It's rich, it's cultural, it's intentional. And when you start adding things like pandan cold foam? Simple, but it speaks volumes about the influence and beauty of the Vietnamese community here. I respect it, deeply. Now let's talk about that Croffle... a croissant-waffle situation. I went with the Chantilly and berries because... you already know, I'm gonna choose what feels like home every time. The cream was smooth, the fruit was fresh, everything worked. My only thing--personally--it was a little heavy on the almonds for me. Still good, just my preference. We also had The American--eggs, bacon, French ham, hand-cut fries, garlic aioli, and a baguette. I shared it with my son and made my own little sandwich moment with it. Used the aioli as a base, layered the eggs, bacon, and ham... and I feel like that's exactly what it was meant for. Solid, simple, and filling. I've tried a few other things too like the bánh mì and donuts. The bánh mì was good, donuts were okay... not my go-to for that. But that frozen cocktail? Listen... it was TOO good. Took it to a festival with me and between that drink and that sun, I slept the whole festival away lol. Overall, I'll definitely be back. I still want to try more from the kitchen--especially that chicken everybody keeps talking about. This is a great spot for early weekend brunch, late evening studying, or weekday coffee runs. Not too small, not too big. Beautiful lighting. A really good addition to Gretna.

Cherry Coffee Roasters offers an upscale real coffee shop experience in a quiet part of Gretna…read more They take coffee seriously here, so expect a stronger cold brew with lots of tasting notes. The design of the shop has fresh tile and hardwood flooring, paired with a reclaimed wood ceiling and multiple styles of seating. It feels very Pacific Northwest - which is good in my book. The seating is definitively Wayfair - so not very comfortable. I am hoping they can incorporate a cozy couch somewhere in the space: I found there wasn't a great spot to feel truly settled in. The baked goods looked great, and they offered at least one gluten-free option. I had a ham and cheese croissant and was surprised that it was very crispy and both the ham and cheese were also good quality. Cherry Roasters definitely cares about their craft and it shows!

And, bonus, for those cutting back on caffeine but who love the flavor of coffee, they use the Swiss water method - not the chemicals to extract the caffeine. All these elements add up to make Cherry Coffee Roasters my favorite coffee shop.

This unassuming spot in a strip mall was gorgeous inside. And it serves coffee, pastries, ice cream plus y'know candy. AND they roast their own nuts, spices and I guess coffee beans. There were definitely folks hanging out and enjoying a Turkish style coffee... I guess either the caffeine doesn't hit them the way it does me or they had no plans to sleep. The candy isn't labeled 100% correctly but you kind of know that gummy worms are not gummy strawberries. I tried an assortment bag of gummies and some of chocolates and the price was by the pound. I settled on popcorn caramel and baklava in a waffle bowl. An employee said that everything was made in-house. The price was standard considering that all was made there. The service was weird. I kept getting served after people who'd gotten there after me. My ice cream scoops were significantly smaller than my boyfriend's.
