BJ is always so welcoming, and today we had the pleasure of meeting his son, Birk. You can really tell this is a family business that cares deeply about its customers and the community they've built. The coffee is consistently excellent, and we've tried several of their food options--everything has been delicious. Today they even surprised us with a box of fresh cinnamon rolls to take home, which was such an incredibly thoughtful and generous gesture. We also love that they showcase and support local artists, giving the café a unique charm and making it feel like a true gathering place for the community. He said it was filling and tasty. * Chia pudding, $9.60 - Loose texture but big serving. Not bad. Good if you're craving something lighter to eat for breakfast. * Smoothie, $7.70 - Tasted like it had real fruit, but tasted a little watered down. * The works cinnamon roll, $11.50 - So delicious! Fluffy, sweet, and served warm. * Acai bowl/smoothie bowl, $9.60 - Large bowl with a good amount of acai sorbet. I enjoyed it. * Black coffee, $2.90 - Perfect paired with the cinnamon roll. Was served hot but not too hot. * Orange almond pastry of the day, $3.90 - Not too sweet and had a nice orange touch, but wish it was more flaky like a scone. I found it a little dense. After tax and tip, we paid a total of $63.53. Although there were some parts of the food we ordered that we didn't enjoy, overall we did enjoy our meal. Service was very friendly and welcoming. Seating was comfortable and there was a nice clean bathroom in the back. Looking at the local art for sale was fun too. I would give a rating of 4.5 but rounded up to 5 stars. Service and food quality and care in presentation were top notch and generous. I believe it is Mennonite-run. They truly walk with God. The whole staff and owner/manager were so "on it" and serving all kinds of people quickly and personably. The sweet sliced beets with the smokey bacon, it's just perfect! There is always a fun dessert to grab to complement the sandwich and yummy chips. Service is always fast and friendly. The floor is clean and the wooden tables and benches are inviting. I noticed that they have regular customers, as one after another, the customers were greeted by name with hugs and big smiles. Savanna (sic) greeted me and took my orders: small latte & ricotta + egg toast. My Ricotta + egg toast was delicious and the presentation was nicely done. The ingredients looked simple and the herbs tasted fresh and clean. The dish was perfectly seasoned. I tasted a little 'heat' at the back of my throat, but that's something I can handle. I even enjoyed the green sauce over the top. LOL! My order of latte was smooth and creamy. No sugar needed here. The creamy milk did its job. Went in and such a great space and amazing people. My latte was absolutely delicious and since I'm on a restricted diet I couldn't eat the amazing desserts but they had hard boiled eggs, which saved me. My only note would be that I should have asked about all the ingredients in the berry smoothie and so it was too sweet for me since I'm not eating sugar (but it was delicious). That's completely understandable, so I asked how long the wait would be. Instead of giving us an estimate, we were immediately encouraged to just get our desserts to go. It left us feeling like our business wasn't welcome because we weren't ordering a full dinner. We're not tourists passing through--we're locals who support this restaurant year-round, including during the slower times. Every customer should feel welcome, whether they're ordering a full meal or just stopping in for dessert and drinks. Unfortunately, after this experience, we'll be taking our business elsewhere. Mariposa has plenty of great places that make every guest feel appreciated.

We would have spent more, but the rude lady at the bakery was cleaning and didn't acknowledge any of us or even look up. We gave up on buying anything sweet after standing there trying to get her attention for 10 minutes since apparently they only clean floors here and don't actually help customers. This same lady put her hoodie on and left and ended up right in front of us in Amanda's line checking out. These two conversed then we walked up. We said hello, no response. She kept her head down the entire time and refused to make eye contact or acknowledge us. That's fine. We paid for our items, but looked back and an older non brown lady walked up and she was greeted and treated with decency. This Amanda is probably the rudest cashier I've come across and we have Walmarts in our town. Lol IYKYK She is the reason this store should have self checkout. Great deli section with made to order sandwiches, seafood, meats, liquor, a good craft beer selection and anything else you need including fruits and vegetables. Love this store!!
