We started with the mozzarella sticks which were good and came with salsa. For mains we had two carne asada burritos, a reuben sandwich, the garlic bread burger, and a salad. All of the food was just okay. If you get the burrito, dont ask for salsa in it because it will turn the burrito cold. The curly fries and crinkle fries that comes with the meal are very good. I will say, they are generous with the condiments. I asked for a side of bleu cheese and they give a good sized portion. BUT if you are looking for a place to sit down, enjoy good company, and feel the nostalgia from the old diner feel while being in a cute town, and really good burgers then you should definitely come here. We waited for about 40 minutes for our food to come out, it was busy, and a Sunday in a touristy town so that's just all part of the experience. And to be fair they do have a bright yellow sign at the cash register where you place your order that the average wait time for food is 40-60 mins so no one should be upset. But anyways the food -- wow! I would say I am a bbq burger connoisseur and their 49ers burger was everything. Totally worth the 40 min wait! The jalapeno poppers were pretty dry and firm like they were over fried. The shoestring fries were tasty like McDonald's fries. Vibrant and authentic atmosphere with the discography and rock n roll memorabilia on the walls. The silver lining was a free scoop on my birthday, the strawberry cheesecake was generously portioned and delicious. Lots of outdoor seating. I responded we were given the option with wait time before we ordered. Order: Corn dog and tater tot's extra crispy. Sourdough bacon burger with fries extra crispy, a soda, a water and ranch. Crispy tater tots: YESSSSSSSSSS greatly appreciated! Corn dog: was super crispy also. I can't stand a mushy corn dog. Hamburger: had great Smokey flavor, sourdough was toasted well with butter, the patty was a decent size. Customer service: it was a little chaotic, they were positively slammed and things happen. A ticket was lost or something and they were trying to figure it out. It was all figured out. Time of our order was 37 minutes. I've never timed before, but was curious when friend said they waited forever. Just out of curiosity! We needed the break from the car and were in need of food. Was told it would be 30 to 40 minutes but probably more like 40 minutes, I told the cashier no problem I'll wait in my car and come in at about 40 minutes. Came in around 40 minutes and was told it was not ready. Came back in at 50 minutes was told not ready. Came back at the hour and was told almost ready but ultimately waited about another 10 to 15 minutes. When we finally got our food we left and went to eat at our hotel. Once at the hotel and opened our food we noticed the club sandwiches had tomatoes and no bacon, only received one side of ranch and the char chicken sandwich was lacking flavor. I do not believe the chicken had any seasoning. Cannot justify the wait time, the lack of flavor, or the price for the items and service received. read more

Overall this is a great spot to eat and we would come again! We were on the way up to Yosemite and the spot we were gonna try was closed since it was Monday. Happy Birger Diner has an outdoor patio with umbrellas out front (sorry forgot to take a photo) that we enjoyed with our two dogs. You go inside to order (cash preferred, but credit cards accepted) and they will bring the food out to you. My mom and o shared a BLT and garlic fries...the BLT was delicious and they loaded it with bacon! The fries were way over salted, so we didn't eat much of those. Overall it's a really chill place. You can tell this spot has been around for a while and is well loved by locals. The menu was extensive, with something for everyone. During our visit, they were running a 30th Anniversary Special for $14.99, which included their Happy Burger, French fries, and a fountain drink. There were three of us, and we each ordered the special. One burger came with a keto bun substitution and crinkle cut fries instead of the regular fries. It was nice to see that they're accommodating. When our food arrived, we were blown away by the portions. The burgers were huge easily the biggest I've ever ordered and the fries came in a generous serving. The deal was an absolute steal considering the size and quality of the meal. My wife bought a hamburger and I got the barbecue chicken. It was the best meal we've had in so long! My wife said it was the best hamburger she's ever eaten. And I would agree with my barbecue chicken. The chicken was moist not dry. Just the right amount of barbecue sauce. It left me wanting more. I ordered some fries along with mine which we shared because the portion was so big. They were excellent, great seasoning and steak fries to boat. The staff was absolutely wonderful. Very helpful with the menu and explaining different things. You felt welcome no matter how busy the place was. And on Tuesday afternoon, it was very busy. We waited about a half an hour, which was absolutely fine. We weren't in a hurry. The only thing I wish I had done was check to see if they had a shake on their menu which would've been outstanding.
