Stopped by here as a recommendation from our Airbnb in the area. I got their seasonal drink which was a Sesame Latte. I don't think I could taste the sesame that much, but it was still good. For lunch, we ordered the Lox Toast and Za'atar Chicken Sandwich. I got a lightly dressed side salad added for $3. The Lox Toast was yummy. I was just a bit disappointed at the side salad. I don't think it was worth the $3 for a tiny box. The chicken sandwich was good and included chips. Not a bad place to stop by on the way to Yosemite. read more

Best food for miles around, the menu would be right at home on Nob Hill! But the staff is the best reason to go! Samantha is the most expert barrista and Kelsey's efficiency and professionalism is unmatched!! She should be maitre d' in a Michelin-starred restaurant! Came up to Mariposa for a film and had to check out the local coffee spots and I'm so glad I stumbled upon Sticks. It's very cute on the inside, it keeps the woods and nature theme well for the town. The baristas were super friendly and explained their signature drinks to me. I ordered the happy camper latte on the first day, and it was amazing! Great blend of flavors. Definitely recommend that one. The second day I ordered the vanilla latte and it was also good, I did prefer happy camper though. I also ordered the orange pound cake, super yummy, the breakfast sammie and I took a bag of espresso beans home with me. I'll be honest I did not like the breakfast sammie, I learned I do not like pesto in the morning and slicing a hardboiled egg on the sandwich didn't let me have egg in every bite. In fact I only got egg in my last few bites. But I'm still giving this spot a 5 because the coffee was amazing and I loved the atmosphere here. Definitely recommend! read more

Excellent breakfast option in Mariposa! I had their delicious breakfast sammie and lovely Happy Camper latte - everything was SO good - service was friendly and prices were decent too. The breakfast sammie is eggs, bacon, cheese, and avocado with an unexpected but fantastic bit of pickled peppers for a delightful little kick. It was one of the best breakfast sandwiches I've had in California and would definitely recommend! And how could I resist their Happy Camper Latte? Anyone that knows me knows I love all things marshmallow and this was phenomenal! It's basically a s'mores flavored latte that comes topped with two giant, perfectly toasted marshmallows. I got it iced - the coffee was smooth and it was surprisingly not overly sweet - It was heavenly! I loved their location too - the little town of Mariposa is very walkable and Sticks is located right at the entrance of the cute River Rock Inn. They had a cozy ambiance with plenty of inside seating as well as a few outside tables surrounded by plants and flowers with views of the town. If you're staying at the River Rock Inn, you get 20% off your breakfast from 7-10am as well so that's pretty cool! I stayed nearby while visiting Yosemite but would consider staying here next time - and will definitely be back for breakfast next time I'm in town! read more

Upon walking in, I was immediately reminded of the coffee shops back in Austin. It just felt like such an authentic place where the people really care about their coffee. For food, we got the Lox and breakfast sammie - both very solid and filling choices. I wanted to stick with their classics so I got a Sticks latte with oat milk and boy is the coffee delicious. It was perfectly sweet and creamy, not too bitter or watered down like I'm afraid my lattes usually are. I was in Mariposa for a work meeting and stopped by this location to fuel up on caffeine before my meeting. Located on a hill to the east of the main road, and connected to a hotel, this place isn't the easiest to find. It does have parking on the street that is marked as 'for hotel guests only.' Since the cafe is connected to the hotel, does that mean you can park there? Regardless, I played it safe and parked down the hill a bit in unmarked spaces. The cafe has a few options for indoor seating--some cozy bench seats along a window and other more private two seater options. The decor was autumnal with pumpkins and a few lush indoor plants. They have coffee beans and other items for sale, and have a few food items you can select to go with your coffee. I ended up asking for a double cappuccino to go, which came in what looks like an 8 oz cup, and I also ordered their avocado toast (on sourdough) with an egg (nicely sliced and fanned across the bread) and everything seasoning. The cappuccino came with some lovely foam art, and was perfectly balanced...with double shots-it was just as strong as I prefer. The avocado toast was hearty and a good value for what you got. The bread was a bit soggy--If I come again, I'll ask them to burn the toast (how I do it at home) or make it extra crispy. The avocado spread had a nice gentle tangy flavor--not too much--the egg was not over cooked, and the seasoning was just right. I had an enjoyable conversation with the staff members who were there, and did not have to wait too long for my food. I hear I just missed the morning rush though... If I'm in town again, this is definitely a place I'd stop by again. It is always nice to find local shops to support--and this one definitely has earned their favorable reputation! read more

Very charismatic barista taking our order and helping us thru the menu + offering recommendations. I'll start with this, if you have social anxiety or look different, not at societal standard and you get the cashier who has light brown hair white women I am guessing, you may get a lid thrown at you. I don't blame her for her actions cause she doesn't know any better. When I go to new places I go to try new things and when she was constantly saying "is that it?" in an annoyed voice after every single thing I asked for knowing I was with 2 other people besides me plus someone who was waiting on us is so uncomfortable. I went up to order another latte before leaving and she seemed so bothered and once I got my latte she threw the lid on the counter towards me. I'm used to being treated with no respect because I'm not the societal norm but when it happens it's sad. I wonder if I was someone else ordering how she would've acted. Beyond that everyone else was great and the drinks and food were amazing! I wish we got the cashier with the red and black hair she was working while we were there and had so much patience, the people handing out the food were also kind. This is my favorite cafe in all of Mariposa! I travel out here for work every few months and I always make a point of coming here. I love the salmon toast and I always get a matcha. The food is so good and so is the matcha! I also find the price to be very agreeable. The baristas are really funny and nice and make just the right amount of conversation. There was a bit of a line when we walked in, but the line moved fast and we had ordered in no time. We ordered the vanilla lattes, in size small and large. Regardless the service, I was super tired walking in, and accidentally ordered two large Sticks lattes when I meant to order the Happy Campers. The server saw the look on my face and immediately offered to redo the drinks, even though it was 100% my fault. It felt like the sort of kindness that changes the course of your day! If you are looking for unique delicious coffee in this town you found the spot. They have a sticks coffee which has liquorish syrup with citrus notes. Even as someone who hates black liquorish I am a fan. They also have tonic coffee which is earthy and sweet. They have a brunch/ breakfast menu. I highly recommend stoping here. I found this place on Yelp as we were wandering around looking for our coffee before driving home. This place has all the good vibes and wonderful staff. I ordered a mocha and my partner got the happy camper. Both were served beautifully with fancy art. I felt bad ordering it to go so if you have a chance, order and have it there so you can enjoy the latte art. Next time I stop by I want to try one of their specialty lattes, such as the tonic latte. They use really unique ingredients in their specialty drinks so just ask. The happy camper really brings back memories of camping and making the first smore of the trip. Sticks is so charming! It feels like an episode of Schitts Creek in that it's a deeply lovely, heartwarming, friendly shop in a small but charming town. Like probably almost everyone else, we stopped here on the way to Yosemite and I am delighted that we did. I have a friend from Mariposa who said that Sticks is a true gem and it sure is! First of all, the building is really beautiful and has the most gorgeous back patio. Second of all, the staff are SO FRIENDLY! I love them??? They're also very explicit about being a welcoming space for queer folks and I felt so loved and held, truly Sticks thank you for this. We got some sandwiches and skipped the coffee since it was past my caffeine time, and i def wished I got something anyway because it all sounds great.
