Service was a bit abrasive when asking a simple question about the Christmas merchandise. She rudely responded to the question with "no that's Christmas. After going to sit and wait for our drinks, she proceeds to yell across the seating area to a friend or person she knows and have an exchange back and forth about the quality of the drink she made him. Service was slow factoring in there wasn't too much foot traffic during my visit but the baristas seem friendly. This particular Starbucks is small in size but it'll definitely do the trick when it comes to quenching your thirst, fulfilling those caffeine feening moments, or simply to satisfy any need for a quick 'pick me up'- IF YOU AREN'T IN ANY KIND OF HURRY. I visit Starbucks most days and I do like the Los Altos Main Street store. I did have an unfortunate experience today when the mobile App created a double order. I was referred to the manager who was disengaged and unhelpful. She basically said go to the app. After trying that and not finding an option for a refund, I went back in and the manager scribbled a phone number down for me to call. When I went to call she had left off the last digit of the number. I went back inside again and she was in the office so I poked my head in and said you left off a digit for this phone number. She basically told to get out of the office and said you can't be here. I said well if you wrote down the number correctly I wouldn't have to come back into The store for the third time and find you. She was disrespectful, rude and clearly not manager caliber. I was just trying to get my refund for the app error and she treated me as if I was the problem. No customer service skills whatsoever. This is a great spot and it deserves competent employees who take care of their customers. I will go back to the Rancho store where the staff is awesome! read more

I've had many a Starbucks. As much as I like new flavors and trying out different drinks, I'm a stickler for Starbucks Fraps. Starbucks always does them well, but sometimes, the outcome is a little different depending on the day- time- location. My caramel frappe au lait was creamy and sweet as expected, but the flavor was a bit simple. It could be my tastebuds wanting that extra kick of nouveau et riche flavor, and my drink was still tasty. The worst service ever for the past 5 years. No improvement. In fact it's been worst. So slow

Small Sbux location in Los Altos, even it being a corner shop and all. Line is typically out the door, but moves quickly. Grabbed a sandwich and my usually iced Vanilla latte. My food and drink came out in a timely manner and the cashier as well as barista were friendly and worked with urgency. Never had issues using my Starbucks app or with "Order Ahead" pickups here. Drink tasted typical and my sandwich was appropriately heated. Not much seating inside if you are deciding to sit here to work or catch up with another. There are a few spots outside, however. The only con is that the line can go out the door and the drink pick up area, as well as the cream and sugar stand are messy and the trash appears full. read more

I didn't see anyone complain about her on yelp, so I'm withholding her name for now. I would promote Allison to management (if she isn't already). I don't even think this is a real Starbucks. It has severe management issues. This is the worst Starbucks ever: I am used to Starbucks having the highest customer service. This one does not greet the customers and take their order promptly. None of the staff look happy. I have received the wrong order several times. One time I ordered a drink and paid with the app. When I returned to pick up my drink, they said that the payment did not go through. They did not even make the drink. I had to reorder and wait for my drink. The last time I visited: I wanted to purchase a cup for my drink. They told me that they could not wash the cup; I took it in the bathroom and washed it. They insisted that I MUST take the cup home and wash it before they would use it. This was the LAST STRAW, I have not been back since. They claimed that it was because of COVID-19. Santa Clara County had lifted the mask requirement several weeks prior. BTW: they do not know what to do with the lid to the shaker, they pour all the ice in the cup and dump the tea (its only a few ounces) in the sink. read more

My local Starbucks thinks this is a tea latte. Once they started making it they made it so fast I think the guy must have just poured milk in. Also this starbucks has a place where tea goes to die which is the table below the tea. Once you order online they put a sticker on the cup and put it there abs then everyone continues to walk past it for the next 10-15 minutes. Then someone finally sees it and makes it. I was only in the area for the art and wine festival, and needed a cold coffee drink as it was hotter than Hades today. I asked the checkout girl if the new cold brew coffee's were good. She said she personally did not like them, and I wish I had listened and not spent my 4 bucks trying this out. The coconut cold brew is absolutely a waste of good money, avoid this drink at all costs!! It tastes super watered down....why I was told cold brew is stronger than hot, I will never know. The coconut taste is also weirdly sweet, definitely did not need any added sugar. Not my thing, and usually I love coconut but not this! So, unfortunately I probably should have just asked them to re-make something different rather than walk out without something I absolutely did not like, but oh well. I took my totally lame watered down yucky-ass coffee drink and regretted it all the way down the street. This is one of the worst Starbucks that is unable to manage mobile and in-person orders together. I waited 15 minutes for a drink this morning. When I asked the baristas, they said they had been working on "mobile orders." To me, this is ineffective management. I can think of several ways that they can both manage mobile orders and in person orders without making customers who make in-store orders wait. The most ridiculous thing was a customer came to me to tell me I should not have complained and that I should have made a mobile order. This was preposterous. This was clearly a customer service issue, and I made a legitimate complaint. If Starbucks are telling customers they should not expect reasonable service unless they make a mobile order, then they should post a sign to inform the customers in front of the store. Clearly, a rational customer expects better service. The management of this Starbucks is clearly not doing a very good job. read more

We got two cold brews. They were watery. Yuck.

I ordered my tall Chai latte. Then I waited...... After a while I decided to use my time wisely. I went to a business meeting, had a workout at the gym, showered, had a hair cut, color and blow dry, a massage and attended a cocktail party. When I came back, my Chai still wasn't ready. I asked politely if there was an order for a Chai behind the bar and flames shot out of the eyes of the teenage barista, scalding my eyebrows and putting a nice brown on the outside of the scone I was eating. It was at that time that she graciously grabbed the tall cup, squirted in a few dribbles of Chai and filled it with half cold milk. I was lucky to escape with my life. Location at 296 Main St, Los Altos, CA 94022, one is this one with 64 reviews, and another with 9 reviews (where I'd just written my review already, included here now below as well). I'm just sad to see all of my favorite staff leave from here recently, one by one: Rob, David, TY. The place is definitely not the same without these folks! They knew me by name and always served hot coffee with a smile and good chat, fast and pleasant. As for this Starbucks location, it's a nice place downtown Los Altos, but it could be so much better! It has potential never utilized. Oh, and their brewed Pike's Place is always lukewarm after 5 pm - I've tried many times and eventually had to switch to another Starbucks if I ever wanted my coffee later in the day. Having said all that, still always prefer a standalone Starbucks to the one inside a grocery store. It opened as part of the new remodeled Safeway only one block away, but they have different policies for Starbucks Rewards members and their pricing is off, higher for the same items than at standalone stores. read more

This Starbucks is the perfect look for Los Altos. It's a small intimate location with clean furniture, bar stools, and great baristas. I like how the shift supervisor was on point by directing the baristas with certain objectives such as cleaning, drinks, register, etc. he showed great leadership. Overall this Starbucks is the ideal look for something that should be in Downtown Los Altos. It has that old rustic look with a calm atmosphere. read more

I have been going to this Starbucks for decades and it has been decent with a great staff until my last visit a couple of weeks ago. I asked if they were allowing indoor seating and the answer was yes so I sat down to drink my coffee. A short time later one of the baristas, the old grey mare I'll call he, asked me why I wasn't wearing my mask and I politely responded that I was drinking my coffee. i guess it's tough to find good help these days and it's too bad that the other good employees (and customer) have to deal with a psychopath like this. The location is tiny with about six or seven tables. There are a couple outside and a great people watching spot on a nice day. 2. It is always busy after school. This is "the" Starbucks for the middle school frappuccino drinkers so there is a line around 3 or 3:30 PM on weekdays. 3. You are parking downtown. Usually there is a spot, but once in a while you may end up walking. 4. Every time I drive by at night when they are closing, there is this funny guy who cleans and dances around with a mop. I've been a customer here for 15 plus years. I went there today to get a coffee drink and return two Starbucks coffee mugs I received as a gift. The reason I was returning the mugs was because one had a wooden base and couldn't be washed in a dishwasher and the second mug had metallic decorations and couldn't be placed in a microwave. These design features made these mugs unusable to me. Both mugs still had Starbucks tags. I explained this to the manager and told her I wanted to return them. She immediately said, "No I can't take them back they are too old." I then spotted an identical mug for sale on a nearby shelf. "Look, you're still selling them," I said. Then she said, "No. I can't take them back you don't have a receipt." This is downright deplorable customer service. I have spent hundreds of dollars here over the years and it stopped today. I really like this Starbucks because they seem to know their drink recipes well. I like that every time I go, my drink always tastes the same. My favorite drink is the grande, non-fat, 5 pump, Chai tea latte. It's amazing. My favorite pastry is the oatmeal cookie. It is over flowing with raisons.... just the way I like it. I've had Starbucks from all different locations. This is by far the worst one. If it wasn't for the constant dissatisfaction, I won't be writing this review. At least four times in a row, they messed up my drink! I usually get the cinnamon dolce and each time they either made it too light or it didn't taste like a cinnamon dolce latte. Once I told the guy and he just simply fixed it and continued his chat with another coworker. Another barista girl that did my order totally screwed up the drink. It didn't even taste like cinnamon dolce!. FYI, I think she was new. The customers before me was also getting annoyed with the wrong drinks and long wait. This is probably my favorite Starbucks coffee shop. The store just like the town, friendly and cozy. They got local coffee shops nearby, but Starbucks still get the lead. Usually it opens pretty early, early in the five, (or 6on Sunday,) Tiffany is the barista that you will constantly see, and ALWAYS ask her how is the coffee today. She gets the say ;) Then you can see Daughty in the afternoon, she always makes the simple drink like a Latte great. She always tires to remember your name and write you a cup with surprising words. And many more... This store is young, and energetic. Prolly because the staff is high school student from nearby. Also be aware of the busy hours like 9am, 3pm, those are the before/after school hours. You might need extra wait for the bathroom, I don't understand why that's the busiest spot ...lol read more

This Starbucks is located in the heart of Los Altos downtown, where tons of people come by to share conversations over coffee. A couple years ago I actually had my MIT alumni interview here when I was applying. There's free wifi like most Starbucks, but make sure you open a browser on your mobile phone and accept the conditions before you try to open any apps that require internet. Also, if you have Chase Freedom with bonus category rewards enabled, you get 5% back this quarter! I ordered the Strawberry Smoothie, which only comes in one size - grande. It's a great alternative to avoid caffeine, but Starbucks is not the place to go for a great smoothie. I'd just stick to their coffees and teas. read more

This Starbucks is the worst. They are incredibly slow for both walk-ins and mobile orders. They act like making your drink is completely inconvenient to them. I always order a caramel macchiato with extra caramel and they act like I'm personally taking something away from them by asking for the extra caramel. They almost NEVER put extra. My drink on 3/29 was so gross and when I called to complain the phone rang busy for two hours so I was never able to get ahold of anyone. I used to love this location when there was a different manager. Unfortunately for this store he left for a different job. It's gone completely down hill since then.
