Note: this review is based on the assumption that you already know Starbucks doesn't have the best coffee in town (bird rock across the street has much better coffee), and that I'm reviewing this spot as compared to other Starbucks locations. This used to be one of our favorite Starbucks locations. My friends and I have been regular customers for years, and we absolutely love Vesso. We also loved Cole when he worked here, and everyone else on the team has always been friendly, welcoming, and professional. We've never had a negative experience with any of the other partners, which is why this situation stands out so much. Unfortunately, we've had repeated negative experiences with one particular barista. On multiple occasions, we've seen her arrive at work wearing what appeared to be dirty pajamas before changing into her Starbucks uniform. Even after changing, her overall appearance often seemed unkempt, and combined with consistently rude customer service, it has made us uncomfortable. We understand that appearance alone doesn't determine cleanliness, but these repeated experiences have left us feeling uneasy about having our food and drinks prepared by her. If we walk in and see that she's working, we now turn around and go somewhere else. It's disappointing because this Starbucks has always been our neighborhood coffee shop, and we genuinely enjoyed coming here. We truly appreciate Vesso, loved Cole, and have had wonderful experiences with everyone else on the team. This review is not a reflection of the store as a whole, but rather our repeated experiences with one employee. We sincerely hope management addresses these concerns because we'd love to feel comfortable returning to what was once one of our favorite Starbucks locations. read more

The store was clean and inviting. My drink was made quickly and correctly . What stood out was the friendly service. The location is just a block from Wayfarer bakery, so it's easy to get my favorite pastries and then pick up my favorite iced expresso to park by the ocean and enjoy my breakfast on a weekday. read more

I've been on a chai latte kick recently and have been stopping by this Starbucks nearby for my fix. My husband and I usually walk here, so I order ahead of time on the app and it's always ready when I get there. While the app usually says 7-11 minutes, there have been times when it's been done in a few minutes. It's very easy to customize orders in the app and my lattes have been good. My husband enjoys their mochas. I definitely recommend ordering on the app ahead of time (you earn points as well for free items). The pickup location for mobile orders is right by the door. Staff has been pleasant and last time I was able to get a puppuccino for the dog. There's a decent amount of outdoor seating as well. read more

I love visiting Starbucks in other states! We were driving down to San Diego and stopped by. There was a line to the counter that never stopped but wasn't too long. The barista at the register was nice! Didn't seem stressed by all the customers. Only one other barista who was making drinks. I ordered medicine ball, while my fam got peach tranquility and an americano. The drinks were ready pretty quickly despite how busy they were. Nice work! Parking around here is interesting. We parked a block down. I'm guessing you'd have to find parallel parking somehow unless you're close enough to walk. read more

If you're into eating maggot eggs for lunch, this is definitely the establishment for you. If it was possible to rate in negative stars this Starbucks would be the crowning recipient. I had the displeasure of entering this establishment to grab a quick snack after a full day of surfing the big swell from jova. I was famished. Upon entering the store it was pointed out to me by another customer there was flies trapped in the front display where the food is open for viewing. The woman at the register heard our conversation where she rolled her eyes and said" ya we can't do anything about the flies in there" Here is a suggestion. Open the display case. Let the flies out. Kill them. Get rid of the maggot filled food. And don't expect paying customers to eat fly contaminated food. That is how illness is spread. Where is California department of public health when you need them. Absolutely disgusting. Starbucks; do better. You're fired. read more

Remember the person who was sharp dressed, perfect smile, strutting his/her stuff with the appropriate amount of swag & on the glance from head to toe, you are transfixed by the toilet paper stuck to their shoe? It's this Starbucks. Great location. Great iced mocha. Bathroom looked like the Chappelle popcopy skit. I cannot post those pictures because you would mouth vomit. Baristas/cashier are so rude here! Just had a horrible experience! After she took my order I didn't get a thank you or asked if I wanted my receipt. I also ordered a sandwich which she forgot about. 10 minutes later I go to the counter to remind her she just looks back at me and proceeds to go and cook my sandwich without a sorry or my bad. The previous reviews I read are reflective of my experience here. The employees definitely lack friendly demeanor with their lack of customer service from the cashier to the barista upon grabbing my drink. I did enjoy my drink despite the extra long wait as they were busy and it took forever. There is your typical Bird Rock street parking and little seating inside, and a few more tables outside. This a great Starbucks with plenty of seating inside and outside. I stopped in Christmas morning to grab me a Grande Pikes Peak and a Maple Nut Scone. The Pikes Peak was very good as usual. A nice medium roast. The maple scone, which I forgot to ask them to warm it up, was very good never the less. I always enjoy the exterior maple sugary crust. I feel bad but I always end up taking advantage of Starbucks and all that it has to offer without, often, buying much of anything. Unfortunately this trip was more or less the same as I entered the Starbucks to use their bathroom. I did notice that this starbucks was very well setup as they had over 10 sets of tables and chairs inside a very small, cozy feel area but it did not feel crowded at all. They really took effective spacing into consideration! Also the baritas were friendly despite knowing that we were only there to use their bathroom and the wifi signal is pretty strong. Generally speaking, I like to avoid chains. But Starbucks has somehow pulled me into it's venus fly trap. And I admit...I am a Starbucks addict. I spend my last hour of work dreaming of a Quad Soy Vanilla Latte, or possibly a Hazlenut Mocha....I'll even venture as far as getting the Green Tea Latte (sans the melon syrup of course, it's the only way). This particular location is one of my favorites. Nestled in the up and coming Bird Rock community, the ocean breeze sends the aroma of fresh brewed coffee around the entire boulevard. The inside is pretty standard Starbucks decor, and the baristas are always pleasant. So far, no one has messed up any of the large orders I sometimes place for all the coworkers during our break. And after registering my old but dependable reloadable Starbucks card, I no longer have to worry about finding wireless in the area, or even subbing in soy milk. Quiet locale with indoor and outdoor seating and walking distance from the beach... I stop by here every few weeks when I'm in the area visiting friends... I usually get here around 7:15pm and there's barely any people here usually about 3-5 people studying... Their wi-fi signal seems pretty strong compared to others I've been too which is a plus... especially if you're trying to write a yelp review on an iPad! ;) The partners that work here have always been very friendly and are quick at getting my drink ready... granted, there's no one around really but still good to know I can get my drink quickly... I don't know what's going on at this Starbucks, but the employees rarely smile. The normal" friendly demeanor you get from every other Starbucks in the world is completely missing from this location. One time I had to ask for my breakfast sandwich to be reheated since it was cold in the middle, and I was met with scowles like I was inconveniencing the Barista. This is the WORST Starbucks I swear. So annoying that it's on my way to work and I can never come here again because of how dumb and ignorant they act. Every time I've come it's an issue.
