It's just because this is the first place you see after getting through security that offers coffee, so everyone congregates here. This is the second time I've been to this Starbucks location within the last 30 days. The first time I visited, we were waiting for relatives and their incoming flight was delayed several hours so I had occasion to order several drinks. They were friendly and quick to take my order though they seem more slow than other Starbucks in the making and delivery of drinks. The person who appeared to be a manager seemed more concern about mug inventory than the group of people who had been waiting forever. They were not even that busy. The girl profusely apologized and the barista kept commenting obviously making the girl feel terrible. I fly in and out of Indianapolis often and have purchased from this Starbucks at various times of day and varying levels of business. Unfortunately, this location seems consistently understaffed and is almost always training someone. As you can imagine, this results in very slow service and mistakes. I've always thought if they just trained employees at non-airport locations, it would resolve a lot of these issues. However, even during my most recent visit with two trained employees and little line, they put coffee in my peppermint hot chocolate. I really wanted to like this Starbucks as I go through here so often - but I think I've paid them my last visit. read more

The airport Starbucks stand is awful. I don't fly that often, but when do I look for comfort foods (drinks included). This Starbucks in front of gates B16 and 17, has consistently feel short on making a satisfactory order. I ask for a simple tall carmel apple spice. Came in for a coffee before my 6:15am departure... You would think this time of day would be their bread and butter, and that the employees would be on the their A-game... But alas. The service was only okay. Drink orders were taken very quickly and finished drinks were coming out in rapid succession, but there was not a single smile in the whole place. The young woman who took my order acted annoyed to talk to me. She gave me room when I asked for no room, so I had to send her back to the drip coffee for a top off. That made her more annoyed. The absolute slowest service possible, this is an airport location, people have flights to catch! Stop standing around talking and help customers get to their gates. Several orders inaccurately recorded by indifferent clerks. No customer name requested for our order. It's an airport location! The staff seems to not really care about what they're doing. I went to use my Gold Card and they informed me their system was down and they could not accept my card. BUT they could accept my debit card. Though I get that they cannot help technical issues...they could have been a little more apologetic about it. Clearly there is a reason why I wanted to pay with my starbucks card. My drink did come out correctly and it came out fast. But seeing that no one was in front of me I would hope it would come out quickly. Ordered a sandwich and they forgot to make it. Not a huge deal at first. Mistakes happen. But I stood there and the barista (Alexis maybe, pink hair) wouldn't make eye contact with me at all. I could have been standing there bleeding out and she wouldn't have looked at me. I waited it out trying to get her attention, as I had plenty of time while waiting for my flight. But finally another employee noticed me, apologized that they forgot, and took care of my order. Maybe a bad day for Alexis, but with the way she was interacting with her fellow employees, I believe it was just a bad attitude and bad customer service. read more

Horrible service. I waited a good 3 minutes to have my order taken while the 'Mary Jane' talked on the phone. Of the other 4 employees all of around aimlessly nobody could help me and I wasn't even acknowledged by any. Mary Jane, the woman who was on the phone, was using her service gloves to talk on the phone and use the computer/ take cash. Not only did she touch food with these same gloves she couldn't understand why I would ask her to change her gloves to get me a new bagel. She argued that she had used something else to touch the bagel. If you think it's acceptable to talk on the phone and touch cash why would I trust your judgement on anything at this point. It's 4:35am and their hours say 4:30 am opening time. The employees were very rude to people asking why they were not open at 4:35am when clearly it says 4:30. They said they were running behind and they would open in 15 minutes. Time is everything when traveling, and most certainly when taking a 5:30am flight. It is very inconvenient to have them not open on time. For being an airport location, this absolutely sucks. It is beyond disappointing that Starbucks cannot ensure quality at its locations. Got an OK caffeine boost before heading to Dallas. Nothing to write home about. Would not fly to IND just to try it, in case you were thinking of doing that. But if you're bored and have two hours to kill, trapped in Concourse B and need some java, it works fine. read more

I know airport Starbucks locations will generally be a step down from standalone locations, but I really don't care for this one in particular. Located at the base of A concourse at the IND airport, it is in a very convenient location for anyone flying Delta or United and as such generally has very long lines. Not their fault directly, but they tend to be very slow, which exacerbates the problem. In addition, I find that they are often out of things, especially on the food side. They often also get my order wrong or leave items out entirely. The staff is also not up to Starbucks standards. They are not friendly and generally don't engage the customers well at all. Recently, when I stopped in here, their scanner for the mobile app Starbucks card wasn't working. The lady seemed very put out that I was using one and demanded I read the numbers to her. She then cut me off mid-sentence because I was "reading too fast." I like Starbucks far better, but at this point, I think I'll go to Copper Moon when I need coffee at the airport. read more

Starbucks in Terminal A extremely slow. I've flown out of this terminal for years and moved out of State 6 months ago. All new staff since my last visit and one thing has always been consistent; they are SLOW. About a dozen people in line when we arrived. Took 30 minutes. Female cashier was too busy chatting with co-workers vs paying attention to her ever-growing line. Four employees "working." A very long line at 6:45 this morning, and these ladies kept the line moving, kept the drinks and treats flowing, AND managed to stay pleasant!!
