And he said the menu will expand again soon. Since I was by myself and he had some time, he sat down and we chatted for awhile. The seating at both restaurants, and you can call them that now since they do not just sell drinks anymore, has been greatly expanded both indoors and outside. He also told me they are working on opening a Plainfield location. I ordered my usual The Slugger on a biscuit for my bread choice (4) with sausage for my meat choice (3) and provolone for my cheese choice (5). It was superb and just how I remembered it from the other location when I was eating breakfast there several days a week about a year ago. I also ordered one Biscuit & Gravy which was excellent as well. I love small local business establishments and cooking. They always have great service and a friendly atmosphere. I parked in the public parking lot across the street since it was a Saturday and street parking was full. The restroom was clean, well stocked and had a pleasant fragrance.

I was using the bathroom when glancing into the kitchen and noticed multiple jars left open and stuff all over the counters, I can't judge though because they were short staffed and it was very crowded. There was a girl sitting on her phone during the busy afternoon I did not see her wash her hands. Once again I can't judge this because you never know what was going on in someone's life like an important situation but she was giggling and a different staff member, our waitress god bless her corrected her and told her to put it away. Our waitress was an absolute queen she was constantly at our aid and was running the place, I didn't catch her name but she had brown curly hair and glasses. The food was phenomenal I ordered the yogurt parfait, strongly recommend because it was super fun to assemble and I felt like a skinny queen eating it. Overall had a good time with family despite the little concerns!

Our server was friendly but seemed to get distracted by her phone. At lunch time, it took a while to take our order. I rarely complain about service. We heard the bell ring signifying our order was ready but she was at the coffee counter busy on her phone. She didn't pick ip our food until a second ringing of the bell. She did check on us and keep water full. So the food is ok. My husband had the burger, which was hand prepared, juicy and delicious. I had the Chicken Velvet soup and the bits of chicken were tough and dry. I also had an Ultimate BLT which was good with thick cut bacon and thin sliced avocado. So, it's probably not the place to come if you are on a quick lunch break. The burgers are good. There's limited parking around the square.

Went on a Friday around 11 and it was packed, not much room to wait, and the hostess said most days the wait list is pages long so you know it's a popular establishment. The cafe is now owned by Diane, Ann's daughter. The tables are packed tightly together, but we were happy to get the last seats in the house. Nostalgic photos of Franklin cover the walls. The place is loud but with a great positive energy. People are small-town friendly and talk between tables as they enjoy their biscuits and gravy. We cajoled with two regulars who told funny stories. Our server, Gill, was quick to the table and friendly. He checked on us several times to see if we needed anything. The menu is a mix of traditional breakfast options, sandwiches, salads and wraps. Prices are reasonable. Food came out quickly. My husband ordered their hand breaded tenderloin with fries. The tenderloin was massive with a great browned breading, served on a Kaiser roll. The pork was tender and juicy. It was a perfect tenderloin, worthy of the Indiana Tenderloin Trail. The hand-cut fries are lightly breaded, crispy and hot. There was an up-charge for the fries, but they were so good and worth it. It was rainy outside, so I had a bowl of the daily soup - broccoli cheddar. The soup was hot, thick, creamy with lots of broccoli and cheese and stuck to my ribs. My soup was served with packs of saltines. Free street parking is available if you're lucky to grab a spot. Well worth the drive to Franklin. Ps. They are closed Saturday and Sunday!
