Adorable spot with a play space for the kids. I was just stopping through, so didn't get to enjoy it, but would love to come back. Dirty chai was extra spicy and I did not care for it. Chai is my go to drink of choice. It's listed as authentic chai so maybe that means something I don't understand. Blueberry scone was a little dry. Baristas were very sweet but ordered took 8 to 10 minutes to complete even with 5 staff begins the counter. I'd still give it another try next time I'm in town. Couldn't hear the staff member, Chai was not hot and tasted horrible, and the up charge for coconut milk varies for some ridiculous reason, but explained as how much is put into the cup. Definitely won't be returning, but highly suggest items being consistent on pricing. Also, it was not mentioned that the chai contained dairy or was pre-mixed. Gang, this is probably one of our favorite coffee shops in the state. *If only* they had a location in Indianapolis! We've made half day trips to the Columbus area based around our design to visit Lucabe. It's hard to beat their kid friendly set up and delicious drinks. By "kid-friendly set up" I mean they have a dedicated high top that wraps around a walled off kids play area complete with puzzles, a mini kitchen and upper level book nook. It's amazing! For once you can take a book or magazine to a coffee shop and flip through it while your kiddo safely plays in front of you. It's genius. Lucabe roasts their own beans and offers a dynamite latte menu. They also have a healthy stash of sandwiches and breakfast foods on hand to round out the experience. I believe some of the baked good items are made in-house. This family-owned coffee shops nails the "community" aspect of coffee shops. Second coffee and my office for the morning, I spent three hours here at Lucabe with my laptop and headphones. Starting off with a perfect cortado. And if you've not had a cortado, try it. It's like a latte but not nearly as much milk. I found a good spot to set up and pound away at my keyboard this morning. Speedy wifi, good power outlet and the coffee kept me going. Meetings! Emails! Friendly service, great coffee, pretty space! We stopped in for some caffeine - I like that they have some adventurous flavors on the menu, including a lavender latte and one that had violet and vanilla. I went with Rosie's latte, which had (you guessed it) rose. It is really good! The coffee was excellent and I liked the floral notes of the rose with the vanilla and honey. I am obsessed with Lucabe. I've only been a half dozen times but have loved all of them. Their special lattes are always good - rosemary, rose, lavender - I've enjoyed them all. The cinnamon rolls truly are the BEST cinnamon rolls I've ever had! The location is soooo adorable. Just very cozy with multiple seating options, lots of space, and even a kid play area. We were the only ones in line-at the counter and no one would help, aask to take our order even though 3-4 female employees were all standing there?? Very bizarre indeed!! A great local gem in the heart of Columbus! Tall ceiling with windows makes it a welcoming, bright & airy atmosphere. The baristas greeted us on the way in & the way out which was a nice touch. Very impressed by the food and drink menu! They offer sandwiches, build your own biscuits, and bakery items. I highly recommend the vegan morning glory muffin (pumpkin seeds, flax seeds, pumpkin, raisins, apples, etc). They also offer gluten free bagels. This place was recommended by a friend and I'm glad I stopped. They were busy and we did have to wait a little while, but we weren't in a rush. The staff was kind and cheery, which always makes a visit anywhere better and makes me want to return! The inside is decorated nicely and I loved the tall ceilings and lights! There are lots of little gifts for purchase-shirts, mugs, stickers, etc. and it gave it a cozy feel. I got a seasonal latte but we also got a blueberry scone and birthday cake scone. Both were fantastic! There were some prepackaged snacks and drinks as well as a build your own parfait option. Such a fun idea! This is a deceivingly large space as seating wraps around the back of the cafe as well. Seating for kiddos is also included, and a rentable room is available. I opted for an herbal tea, but for my non-caffeinated friends, they offer all coffee-based drinks to be served with decaf. My rooibos vanilla tea was tasty and a very great price for a city. The interior is pristinely clean and quiet. There is a good variety of food and beverage offerings. My husband ran inside to get some coffee for us on the way back to Indianapolis. He ordered their seasonal honey lavender coffee for me and it was really delicious! He doesn't usually like florals as much as I do, but ended up drinking a good amount of it because he liked it so much. He couldn't resist a cinnamon roll, so that was divvied up between the two of us and our toddler had a big slice too. Everyone was pleased with it's sweetness, and the size was so big it was easy to split between us all. I would definitely recommend stopping in! My absolute favorite new shop! I came here when exploring the town of Columbus for the first time with a friend. What a beautiful, quaint town! I love trying local shops, especially coffee shops, and found this place on Yelp, which my friend had surprisingly never been to. I've been several times since and it has quickly become my all time favorite coffee shop - I wish we had a Lucabe in Indy! Parking is a bit tricky in the busy area but I typically find a street spot to parallel park in. There's always a decently long line but it moves fairly quickly. There are specials that they change regularly but some can be made after. My first time, the Tuxedo Latte was on special and it has become my go-to, despite no longer being on the menu. I love it hot but my friend gets it cold and both are delicious. They have treats in the case, such as scones, croissants, cinnamon rolls. I have yet to try one but people rave about how good they are. There is a lot of seating and many tables have fresh flowers. The woman-owned business (love that!) is run with really kind people. I love the hippie vibe this place puts out, really good energy here. The prices are similar to the place with the green mermaid logo. When you pay with a card, you can register your phone number for points towards free drinks. Side note: I've seen them give free coffee to service members, which is always awesome to see. Awakening with a Cappuccino: My Journey into the World of Coffee... Lucabe was one of the first true local coffee shops to open in Columbus. There were others before it, but none that felt so entirely dedicated to the art of coffee. At first, I was hesitant to go. I couldn't justify choosing a local spot over Starbucks--until I discovered the flavor that changed everything: White Chocolate Mocha. That was the beginning. I became a regular, found excuses to visit with friends, and started spreading the word. I laugh now, thinking back to those days when I knew nothing about coffee. It was more like a dessert to me--something sweet I really enjoyed. Then one day, I met Corrie, a barista at Lucabe. We struck up a conversation, and wow--her passion for coffee was contagious. She explained everything that goes into making a great cup and encouraged me to try an espresso. That night, I spent four hours diving into coffee research, learning all I could. The very next morning, I walked into Lucabe from the office, determined to try an espresso. Corrie was there and suggested I have it with milk--in other words, a cappuccino. I took one sip and felt like I'd entered heaven. Suddenly, everything I'd read and everything she had explained clicked. That cappuccino became the turning point. Since then, coffee has become a part of my travels--especially as a runner. I seek out local spots wherever I go, often with fellow runners, always in pursuit of the next great cup. It's been six years, and I've had some incredible coffee around the country--but Lucabe remains a favorite. So thank you, Corrie, for introducing me to the world of coffee and teaching me how to appreciate it. It's a memory I'll always cherish. Lucabe still serves one of the best cappuccinos in the Columbus area. From the perfectly chosen beans, skillfully roasted, precisely ground, and expertly pressed, to the delicate blending with milk--everything comes together with care and craft. Of course, I've also come to realize that the magic depends on the barista. Not every cappuccino is created equal, and Lucabe's consistency varies depending on who's behind the counter. I am so glad I asked if they had a specialty drink!! This happened to be Rosie's Latte which is on the menu but the name isn't descriptive. It's a rose vanilla honey latte. The drink was served with cute art, a generous amount of froth and it was soo good! Loved the honey in it! New favorite drink!! We enjoy visiting small coffee shops and will definitely return when in the area! 5 stars just on the coffee alone, but Lucabe delivers on all other fronts as well. I got a small latte and a mini sugar cream pie. The space was lit very well with natural light streaming in from the floor to ceiling wall of windows. Tons of seating options to match your mood - bartop facing the outside, casual lounge areas for catching up with friends, two-top small tables if you want to pop up your laptop, and even some quiet hideaways if you need a bit more peace. There is even a kids fort play area if you have kids to take along while you get a caffeine kick. The sugar cream mini pie was gluten free from a local bakery, and it was delicious. Not too sweet, subtle and creamy flavors, soft and chewy crust. All that good stuff aside, the coffee was still the star of my visit. Perfect micro foam that didn't settle out quickly, high quality whole milk (they might even add some extra cream...not sure), great espresso quality, and a really cool retro-chic mug. This is an excellent place to work from - even with kids!! I was floored at how awesome it was that Lucabe has a little kids playhouse location in the back complete with kid-sized tables. It also has a bench bar set up overlooking the playhouse area so you can keep an eye on your child while joining that zoom call. I worked from Lucabe on a Monday afternoon and it was busy without being crowded or noisy. I had an iced americano that was delicious. Next time I go I'll try one of the jumbo cookies in the front case. Lucabe is a little overpriced, but not more than what you would pay for your favorite Starbucks drink.
