This place is on the high end of cakes. It is also known as Sweet Escape, as well. If you can think it, they can make it. I sent them some pictures of some cakes that I wanted for my daughters birthday and they replied right back with the cost for each one. They are very responsive and professional. I got responses to all of my correspondence within minutes. It is a testament to what type of business they run. My cake was ready when they said it would be. Other business that I were shopping around were not so responsive. Of course you can get a cheaper cake at places like Walmart, But their cakes are worth the price. This is for cakes (non wedding) only. I used these ladies twice. Once for a first birthday cake and one for a baby shower cake. The birthday cake was a little on the pricey side but it came with a smash cake and had tons of different flavor and filling. The shower cake was very reasonable. These ladies are amazing decorators. Definitely picassos of the cake world. Give them a picture of whatever you want, they will make it look exactly like the picture or what you envision. Plus, the cakes are delicious!!! My wife and I got married in Indianapolis about a year ago. We did the whole cake tasting and searching the area for a good wedding cake vendor and probably visited 5 or 6 locations. We were really happy we found IndyCakes. I'll be brutally honest here. The cake isn't the BEST. I've had better pastries, but if I had to I'd pick this place over and over again. The reason is that the staff there is 100% incredible. I felt like a priority. Everything went extremely smoothly and the price is EXTREMELY good. We probably paid about 25 to 30% less than the other cake vendors were charging. They didn't charge extra for use of the hardware - though there were deposits. I even had them make a "grooms cake" that was Halloween and poker themed. It turned out terrific and it was under $100 (for our entire rehearsal dinner crowd). The designers are very creative and really worked with us. They also told us not to save the cake topper since it is their policy to make you a new cake topper for your first year anniversary. We just did that last week and frankly their cake making skills have only improved. My wife and I and our families loved it. I really loved this place and would recommend them to anyone. You can probably find higher quality cakes that are maybe 10% tastier but pay 50% more. And like I said, they really have improved that aspect. read more

Indy Cakes is known for their custom cakes and cake bites. I have only ever had the cake bites and they are a delicious dessert. The cake bites are creative and very flavorful - my favorite choices include Pina Colada and the Strawberries and Cream. You can order cake bites in the dozen (or two... or three). The inside features a very moist cake surrounded by a thicker frosting. I would give Indy Cakes five stars if it weren't for the difficulty of ordering cake bites! You have to place an order 3-4 weeks before you want them or else you are out of luck. Make sure you plan ahead! They are definitely worth a bite. read more

Wow Indy Cakes did a fantastic job with our cakes! We worked primarily with Scott, and he worked us into their body production schedule despite giving them just over a weeks notice for a custom cake. I appreciate Scott and the rest of the team for a solid performance. As for the cake--it was awesome! We sent them a photo of a cake we saw online of a barnyard themed cake. What Indy Cakes made for us was essentially an exact replica with a level of detail that was incredible. The colors, shapes, exactness, and proportions were all top notch. And we thought the price was very reasonable considering the amount of work and time they must've spent. My wife and I, our entire family, and guests were all blown away. We also ordered a smaller "smash cake" for our son to get into, and it was simple but very cute as well. Both cakes were moist and delicious as well. I placed an order for my sisters baby shower. Like many others we are not a fan of fondant. Indy Cake's was able to make the most beautiful cake with chocolate mousse and very little fondant! OMG! Do not use Indy Cakes!! Our cake tasting went amazing...it was a huge bait and switch deal the cake does not taste the same, they barely put any filling if you chose a filling....The icing was NOT BUTTERCREAM!!! I bake I know these things.....It was that powdered sugar fluff recipe that's as easy as 1 2 3 and taste exactly like powdered sugar...GROSS!! The middle tier was horrible and 100% the opposite of what I asked for.....The color's were supposed to be hotpink and kelly green even wal-mart prepackaged would have been better than what Indy cakes gave us......Jill during my final "meeting" which wasn't a meeting because after your cake tasting and you pay deposit you have to come back 2 weeks before wedding to tell them what you want and they refuse to make an apt for that....you have to just show up.....I didn't like that but did it any ways and it was during that final apt I noticed my happiness fading as Jill said she's got to rush us out because some lady in Carmel wants cupcakes delivered....sooooo some lady in Carmel's $20 cupcakes are more important that my $400+ WEDDING CAKE!!! I threw a 70th birthday party for myself and asked Indy Cakes to prepare cupcakes and their "cake bites,: as I didn't want the hassle of cutting a cake. Everyone was thrilled with the results. They placed the cupcakes on a tray in the design of 70 - very cute. But the cake bites were the hit of the party. Myself and my husband got married in August in Indy and used Indy Cakes for our wedding cake. We ordered a 3-tier tuxedo cake (see attached picture). We paid $400. The cake was for about 70 guests. The cake was decorated nicely. However, it was quite crooked as you can see in the attached photo. This was quite disappointing. The taste of the cake was just average. I was surprised by the fact that the cake was falling apart as it was being cut for guests. Many did not notice that the cake was crooked but it was the first thing I noticed when entering the room for our wedding. Quite a let down. read more

The cake is not bad at all it's Jill who's difficult to work with and doesn't take accountability for her mistakes...My wedding cake turned out a bust which sucked after paying a little over $450 and since the cake was just dropped off at my venue where no one signed for it I wasn't able to chat with Jill or any staff until afterwords...When chatting with Jill after my wedding it was the first time I had ever worked with her and she claimed basically that she was there for my consultation and tried to tell me things I said or me being indecisive when I never met her....we had never spoke prior to this and I was a pretty laid back bride so I thought she must just think all brides are the same...she is that crazy her whole demeanor...she seems bitter like wedding cakes aren't her thing she does other random local things and just started making sex cakes and gun shows soooooo if that gives you any idea....I'm not making this up lol she has a special site for it separately but you can find it....I've wrote reviews on her before but as wedding season approaches I don't want anyone to make my mistake....They are local to me and just a small shop soo I thought I was supporting that concept but I wish I wouldn't have been so humble in this situation and walked.....Like also if you search they are some of the most expensive cakes and I knew that going into it....so it goes to show I really was willing to support a good local business :/ read more

Ok, so here's how my experience went......I'm a procrastinator so of course I wait until Monday to try ordering a cake for my wife's birthday on Wednesday. I saw they were not open but gave them a call because I was desperate. I was greeted by a friendly voice who informed me they were closed Monday but happened to be there and couldn't resist taking the call. She told me they were fully booked this week and had 5 or 6 weddings as well but took my number and said she'd call me back in 20 minutes and see if they could squeeze me in. I figured I wouldn't get a call back but to my surprise the phone rang less than 10 minutes later and she told me she didn't know how, but they'd have it ready for me. I wasn't picky, obviously, I had screwed up and waited until the last minute, but couldn't believe the beautiful cake they made for me when I picked up last evening. The pricing was below what I expected, the quality was fantastic, and my wife went crazy over the cake. What little bit I got was very moist and delicious. I will definitely use them in the future. Both the lady I spoke to and the lady who I picked up from were very friendly and eager to help. It seems business in America has gotten away from this type of customer service.
