My son and I have a long-standing Sunday tradition of going to Starbucks during our grocery run. It's something we both enjoy and have been doing for over two years. I usually order a kids' steamed apple juice and customize it to be warm instead of hot -- and every other store we've visited has always understood exactly what that means. This week, I decided to branch out and try something new for myself -- a grande white mocha with chocolate cold foam and chocolate malt powder. The apple juice was our usual order. Unfortunately, the whole visit left me reconsidering why I came back in the first place. Before my son was born, I boycotted Starbucks for three years. I only came back because this tradition with him felt special. But now I'm seriously thinking about walking away again. First, I was charged an extra $0.50 for chocolate malt powder -- even though they were out of it. No one told me it wasn't available, and no one offered a refund. When I asked, the manager told me I'd have to do it through the app, even though I know the store can handle refunds directly. Second, the apple juice came out steaming hot -- even though it was marked as a kids' drink and customized to be warm. When I politely asked for some ice so my toddler could drink it, the barista responded with a passive-aggressive remark about "there being a toddler option or something" in the app. That's not helpful -- it's condescending. I know how to place an order. Her job is to make it correctly, not comment on it. We still love our Sunday outings -- but if this is the tone and treatment I can expect, there are plenty of other places I can take my son for a treat. This Starbucks is located just right off 65 and on Southport road so it can be quite busy. The location is relatively easy to get in and out of. I don't stop by here often but when I do the staff are always friendly and helpful. They get through the line pretty quickly and with the drinks made correctly. read more

I frequent this Starbucks probably 100 times a year if not more. I know everyone is short-handed and randomly closing early because of this. Could you PLEASE make the sign on the door large enough to see/read from the parking lot? I can't tell you how many times I've tried to stop by after work and think you are open because all the lights are on. I'm sure I am not the only one...or could you update the hours somewhere that is accessible like Google or the Starbucks app? At this point the Starbucks off Emerson seems more reliable as per hours open. This is definitely one of my favorite Starbucks locations in the area! The staff is really great and so quick at filling orders! One thing to be aware of with this location, though, is the limited seating available. There is one really large table and a few smaller ones, but there have been a few times when I have had to go to another Starbucks locations because of how packed this one was. With that being said, I would always come with a back up plan in mind if you are planning to get work done while you enjoy your coffee. Nonetheless, I am a fan and dedicated customer! read more

This is my last option when I'm looking for coffee in the morning. Most of the staff is rude and I'm not sure why it is allowed to treat costumers with such attitude. I'm always very polite and friendly but In more than one opportunity they have been rude for no reason. (Especially one of them) The last straw for me was a couple days ago (and what motivated me to write this review) they had opened two hours earlier, according to the schedule and the entire place was upside down. It looked like they were closed, and the lady I mentioned before told me in a very rude way to go use the drive thru. I felt like she was making me a favor instead of doing her job. That's the last thing I expect from a place like Starbucks and I don't want to start my day in a bad mood. I kind of hate this Starbucks but also not really? Pros: - it is close to my home and also on the way to the highway (65). Cons: - The interior layout is dreadful. In regards environment, it is just not a cozy space. The Windows face west and north, and let in harsh light that (if you are bringing a laptop) makes it impossible to sit it (but pull the blinds and it's too dark). When sitting with folks you're liable to have sunlight stab you in the eye if you don't face in a weird direction. There's one large long table where there should be multiple small tables pushed together - rarely do large parties sit there so instead a couple of folks on laptops or talking will take up a huge space. There's one good table by the coffee shelves that's ok. They have another corner table that is accessible to folks in a wheelchair. - omg the parking and drive-thru is terrible. NEVER PARK IN THE DRIVE THRU AREAS. Often the drive-thru gets backed up and then angry jerks in the drive-thru line are too rude to give space to folks backing out so they can leave. Multiple times I have gotten stuck there for a period of time. It's just the dumbest set up for a drive thru. They should have taken the lane that's between them and LA Fitness. - the people working here are ok. Sometimes I am just not impressed with service and other times they are fine. Overall, it is a Starbucks. It has stuff you probably want. I go here for convenience because the south side doesn't have a lot of coffee options. Sometimes it is actually nice. Visited this location today and was disappointed and disgusted by the appearance of the interior. It wasn't messy; it was disgustingly dirty. The floor was sticky and covered in crumbs, straw wrappers and other paper debris. All tables were dirty as were the chairs. Trash cans were full and running over. I realize businesses are short-staffed, but I counted at least 7 employees at 4:30 pm. In addition, the work area for the baristas was filthy; the counter was covered in various liquids, dirty floor, and there was a community "tub/sink" that employees passed their hands through while making drinks. Quick drive thru service but as I got back onto I65 and went to take the first sip of my iced coffee, I learned the hard way that my lid was not secured on, and half my drink ended up all over me and in my seat, where I sat in cold coffee till I could pull off another exit and clean it all up. I am coffee-hollic and honestly for sometime, I was unable to find the same quantity of coffee, which Starbucks provided years back. Mostly the shot were not pulling right in most machines from one location to another and no one cared to calibrate the same. And then I visited this cafe and the service and the quality of coffee took me years back to that same quality I was longing for. They were nice and gave my sweet, little, 18lb baby a "puppachino" He looked like scaly wag when he got it all over his little pug face. They were very polite, however dogs are not allowed. We had to eat it in the parking lot. While walking my sweet little pug friend, I couldn't help but notice the amount of cancer sticks thrown behind Starbucks landscaping. This Starbucks is a mess. They are very disorganized and have no issues letting you stand at the counter for several minutes before acknowledging you. Really it's the staff at this location that are the problem. Although a few are very nice, several are very controlling about where you stand and even wait for your order, and outright rude and snobby when responding to simple questions. Not my favorite location, but not the worst that I have been in. Stopped in on a Friday afternoon before heading up to the Northside for an afternoon of shopping and doing pretty much whatever we wanted. They were busy when we arrived. Normally I would have stuck with the drive-thru, but for some reason decided to go in. The inside as busy just like the drive thru. When we got into line, we had about 4 people a head of us. Surprisingly for as busy as they were, they got us through pretty quickly. They all seemed to work well together to get people through and on their way. Some of the furniture looked a little beat up like perhaps it may need to be replaced soon. Other than that the overall location seemed to be clean with several places to sit. Crappiest Starbucks I've been to, and I've been to A LOT because I'm self-employed and like to get out of my house. The first time I came here all three baristas ignored me for at least a minute as I stood at the register alone. I was hoping this was a fluke, but the next time I came here they "lost" my order. I was sitting by the counter, listening for them to call me, but they never said my name or the name of my drink. I had to go begging at the counter for it, and then I had to specifically ask them for a free drink card when they should have given me one without asking. We stop at this Starbucks usually on the way to my husband's parents' home. Service is fine, although they don't put sprinkles on my skinny cinnamon dolce latte unless I ask (unless the stores on Binford and 96th St). The odd thing is that there is always something weird going on in the parking lot. This last time, a guy was driving in reverse across the lot; another time, a car was trying to exit while another car was trying to enter and neither car would move. First: If I could give the Employees One Thousand Stars I would. They are all exemplary Employees of a coffee shop. I am very particular about how my coffee is made and ask a lot of the employees including to define and or stretch to the limit what it is I may ask of them in lieu of creating my drink . Southport Road on the SOUTHSIDE OF INDIANAPOLIS OFF I - 69 WHERE GRAY ROAD MEETS SOUTHPORT , as derived from my daily visits , is nothing short of a bewildering, ambiguous Nightmare as far as an experience at Starbucks. It falls fantastically short of the image that Starbucks works endlessly to reinforce and advertises. Southport Rd. Starbucks is essentially an abandoned building building with some espresso machines in it. There will be a wait. There will be products they are out of.They are out of numerous things daily. Parking is horrific and arduous. Once the Drive thru line reaches out of their parking lot and almost onto Southport Road, if you are parked by their building - Good Luck getting your car out. Again - The Employees themselves are great , hard working , all that - but what I see time and time again is they can only do so much under the circumstances . They have the skills but the building themselves and the products they are sent by corporate are woefully inadequate. What I perceive is this: The most popular combination of product and service there is to purchase a Frappccino drink in the Drive thru, there are days where for every one coffee i see served in the dining room i see 100 fraps go out that window. The management, in response to various concerns over the years, continuously reference the fact that this particular store is 10 YEARS OVERDUE FOR A REMODEL . Starbucks on Main Street Greenwood has long since been remodeled - I've never experience anything at that location as I have at Southport. The repairs are endless. The outages are endless. The "forced to close " days are endless. The Product reliability is nothing. Butter. They pretty much never have butter. Ever. Its a business that advertises certain products and I should be able to walk into that store at least 2/3 of the time get what they advertise but it rarely happens. They order it sometimes and corporate doesn't send it. Over and over again you get the distinct impression that realizing what profit can be made handing Fraps out the Drive Thru they can make much more money focusing on Drive Thu then remodeling and updating the store so that it may accommodate the Cafe customers to a more satisfactory degree but so what ? - there are other starbucks options in the Area. Right ? No. Not all of us bend to this notion. Logistically speaking given location, traffic and personal preference some people would prefer to go to a specific location and then receive the service that is assumed to be associated with and provided by their Brand. Honestly either the District manger is either totally unaware of this stores condition or does not care OR their hands are tied on the issue and Southport Starbucks has just been left out in the breeze to fend for itself . Espresso Machines: I come in during the early afternoon and shouldn't have to say it but everything that starbucks offers should be available and consequently the machinery associated with it should be capable of providing that, However rarely are both machines running when it is necessary and for sure needed. This location takes Mobile Orders and honestly since they added that service everything at there has just bumped up into a new level of chaos. One can sit there and listen to apologies to customers for their wait all day long one right after the other. Massive blocks of mobile order tickets stack up in front of the poor in store customers standing right there and it is DAILY that customers are forced to stand and watch busy employees swarm around the tiny, tiny workspace and fill their counters with lots and lots of mobile orders and more often than not by the time they've made all these mobile orders they literally cant find the cafe drink at all. Its chaos. I cant even criticize Store Management. I think that Starbucks Corporate simply finds no reason for an atmosphere of leadership or face to face intensive customer service or report . The Bristas are great but they are struggling constantly to deliver the products and to complete their list of tasks without the proper tools and in a building that is simply falling apart. In conclusion on the Espresso Machines - Dry storage protocol at this location. Today I arrived to most tables consumed with Merch and window signs - broken bathrooms - then they began to close the store because they had to turn off the water. I just left. This location is hit or miss. The morning staff seems to be pretty good, quick and know their stuff. The evening staff are rude, slow and unapologetic. I also believe this location is understaffed. The drinks are also hit or miss, never know if it's going to be made correctly. I can tell when they leave the cup of fresh espresso sitting too long because they get so busy in the evening and can't keep up.
