My home away from home. If there is a Starbucks... I'm there. Decent size. People super tanned and ready for the beach, one of my favorite looks. Service was great. On point. Consistent, which I love. Hawaii mugs are a must for any true Sbux fan. read more

Starbucks - Summer Love, Hawaiian Style - Coffee & Tea Near Me - Hilo, Hawaii

Where to begin... approximately six to seven staff members in the morning. Seems very disorganized. Maybe one person works drive-through window. Maybe one person works inside register and I say "maybe", because sometimes you are just left standing in line, waiting for someone to come and take your order, while you watch them all doing various things. Then they take your order...and wait and wait for your order. Your pastry arrives, cold. Not warmed, as you requested. Flag someone down and let them know...only to wait some more. In the meantime, your drink has not arrived. Not good and not happy. Okay and understandable if it just happened once...maybe if it even just happened twice... The place is FILTHY. The tables are GRIMY! Tons of homeless, that are there everyday and practically live there...literally. Very concerned about catching Hepatitis. I do not plan to go back. I've had enough. read more

Fast & efficient drive thru! Friendly service and definitely would return. The line originally seemed long but went pretty fast.

Very nice staff! They were kind enough to re-make my latte after they realized the first one didn't have the vanilla flavor in it. And let me keep the first unflavored one too. Wifi strong. Only downside was that there was a bum that basically took a shower in the sink of the restroom there, so it wasn't very sanitary but that's out of their control. still 5 stars! read more

This is the source of my matcha latte. Always delicious, served just right by always friendly Starbucks baristas. For a long time I drank the chai lattes, but now I'm opting for a little less caffeine and sugar. I love the low fat Turkey bacon, egg white morning sandwiches, which pairs up nice with any drink, but like most fast food, the cheese gets in there somehow. Not the fault of this store. The place is busy busy all day long really. The quickest grab is accomplished using the app and a quick run inside and out. They really get the small orders done fast. I don't order a lot, but the lines are for bigger appetites and could be a wait if you decide to do the whole drive around. In COVID times this really is the only option and the baristas have accommodated by taking orders from the cars directly to speed up the line. It's all good and their friendliness tops the morning. read more

It's pretty much luck when you go to that location. Some baristas are fricken awesome and then you get the pricks. My sister got my son a cotton candy frappe. It's not on the menu but it's on there secret online menu. He loved it. Few weeks later I decided to take my son for a treat. I ordered a cotton candy frappe for him. The lady acted like a total bitch. She was like what are you talking about mocked me and asked her coworker walking by if he knew. He said no and rolled his eyes. So my 7 year asked her do you know how to make a strawberries and cream frappe??? Lol. Even a child can notice adults acting rude!!! Then I have days when the workers are just so polite and on it! Pure luck. read more

Just went there this morning and got an bacon sausage egg wrap and it was so DISGUSTING! I puked. Was it old???? I cannot get over how nasty it was. GROSS. read more

I used to frequently go to this Starbucks whenever I had the urge to waste money just for coffee but the traffic is terrible and hazardous. 7-11 has decent coffee for less than half the price. read more

We were waiting for my boyfriend to finish a meeting when my son yelled out from the back of our rental mini-van: "Mommy! I have to shi shi!" We drove to the only place I could think of that would be somewhat clean, Starbucks! First off, this Starbucks has a drive-thru so it automatically gets four stars on that fact alone. The people who work here are very nice and while we were waiting to be helped, the cashier apologized prefusely and told us she'd be right with us. They were very busy making orders for the drive thru and regular counter. The downside to this location is that I found some of the clientele to be a bit unsavory. First there was the man in the bathroom who took a good 15 minutes in the loo and then walked out taking on his cell phone. Ewwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww. Then another man asked if he could sit at our table. I looked at him and said politely, "Uh you can sit with here but you'll have to hang out with the baby." (Who was climbing up and down each seat) He awkwardly told me he'd sit at the table next to us. There are 15 other tables and you want to sit at our table? Either you have some serious issues or you sit there every day and have a mental obstacle when it comes to change. Sadly enough I think he actually sits at our table everyday because I saw him whip out his own ceramic coffee mug and stand in line. That be cray. read more

Dez was great! We're from the mainland so we are new to the area, he helped us out and even recommended some amazing dishes for dinner!!!

I ordered a pumpkin scone & waited patiently for about 15 minutes. I noticed they gave another person in the drive through the last scone, so I went to check up on my order only to find out they "just ran out". I was super disappointed that they forced me to purchase another product with my credit. read more

Went in last week to get a cup of regular coffee and noticed that the cashier actually made my cup --- I immediate got my coffee. Huge improvement! Thanks. read more

I don't know why I don't learn my lesson. We were closer to this sb than my favorite store 3 miles away so how difficult could a peach lemonade order be at 10:15 in the morning? IT TOOK 30 MINUTES! it would have been faster to drive across town. read more

It's a bigger Starbucks than I am used to. There is a large seating area that can be used for casual meet ups with friends on Sunday mornings. I actually did that too. Checked in here on Saturday afternoon to do a strawberry and creme frappuchino after finishing a 1/2 marathon in Volcano earlier in the day. Love the ambiance, but that's one of the things Starbucks is known for. read more

1) best Starbucks to study at. Testament to that is that you'll have College of Pharmacy students along with nursing students living here year round. Mixed in this crowd are the tourists, people who don't have internet at home and business folks in dire need of caffeine. That said, this place is a safe haven for all who seek it. 2) gets pretty loud and crowded for about 10 hours of the day. 3) the parking lot is decent but you'll find many creative off roading parkers during busy hours. read more

Tons of baristas but majority concentrate on drive thru... Cashier is slow taking orders and even asked how to make my drink. Long line in the store... Ugh! Only good thing is free wifi. read more

Well Starbucks.....your OK, I suppose.....but you just fired your top talent.....Chris Christwell.....in Chowchilla. (as Starbucks is a chain....reviews know no bounds) You could have spun Gold out of Straw with this guy.....you fired him instead.....he doesn't hold it against you so I guess I kind of wont too much either maybe..... He makes some some really good points in a pretty humorous way in his two Videos. I wish only that "Management" and the public could take being mocked a bit in good humor and have made things even better for your unsung Barristas! I come to this particular Starbucks almost every Wednesday. I just got to the Green level on my Starbucks card. Yes, I'm a sucker for those rewards cards and all. The service is good, in my opinion, I usually go through the drive-thru and whenever I do so the person I give my order to is always polite and seems genuinely nice. That's one thing I've noticed at most Starbucks store, almost every employee is genuinely happy to be there. Maybe too much caffeine? I'm not sure, but it keeps me coming back! read more

Very disappointed with the service received today. I ordered coffee and blueberry oatmeal for breakfast. Luckily, I didn't order drive tr. When I opened my oatmeal, no hot water had been added. I took it back to the counter and the staff added hot water. She returned it and shared no apologies for the error. read more

Ordered a caramel espresso frap, when I went to get it at the window they had assumed I didn't want whipped cream. I drove away, as I drank it realized it tasted watered down and nothing like caramel or even coffee flavor. I went back to the drive thru to have them make me a regular caramel frapp, with extra caramel and I told them I wanted whipped cream this time. I went to the pick up window & they say "oh we forgot did you want whipped cream?". They didn't even put any extra caramel. I tasted it and again, very watered down. I don't understand how the lines are always long here when their drinks SUCK! Save yourself money and get some quality drinks from a locally owned business, Just Cruisin' Coffee. They're worth their line wait...you're welcome! read more

I'd give it a one, but it's hard to screw up a coffee beverage when most of them are done by computerized machines. Staff attrition is AWFUL. HIGH turnover. Staff are rarely attentive. Just getting your presence acknowledged by staff (while they fiddle with refills and stocking, for example) while you're waiting seems difficult. "Tick, tick, tick." Most of the "kids" that get hired have no people skills. Either college students or nerds living in "mama's basement," no matter. Kids. Clueless. Uncomfortable, most of the time, interacting--PERSONABLY--with customers. During some hours, with two POS stations, you never know WHICH one to choose. They're abandoned while the kids play with cups and supplies. No matter which one you choose, it seems like it's the wrong one ["I can help you over HERE."] Be prepared to FREEZE! These ass clowns haven't figured out how to control their HVAC system. Some times, it's EXTREMELY uncomfortable. OK. I think that covers it. Oh, yeah. NO dark roast after 1100 am unless you want to pay extra. Go to a locally owned place (in no particular order): Shark's Coffee Bear's Coffee Just Cruising' Coffee. All good and/or much better than Starbucks. Just saying. Unless you're desperate, go elsewhere. read more

The drive thru takes ridiculously long and I only ordered a pastry. When I finally got to the window about 20 minutes later, I waited at least 5 minutes for someone to get to the window. I'm already annoyed and for someone to take that long to just give me one thing pissed me off. Drive thru's are supposed to be fast not waiting half a damn hour! get your shit together and hire people that actually do their job read more

Ok, I'm not a caffeine person. I did receive a gift card and I love food. I also know that Starbucks has quality and consistent content in the menu. So I've stopped in a few times. The drive through I rarely use. I may start using the drive through just based on the amazing costumers service. Every time there is a friendly smile and positive vibes from the drive through crew. Thank you guys! read more

This place is good for any time of day. I love the holiday decorations. The baristas are very pleasant and willing to help you find a good cup of joe. They have Christmas music playing since it's the holidays. The food is good but I find to have it double toasted since the middle of the sandwiches are sometimes cold. read more

Starbucks - Coffee & Tea Near Me - Hilo, Hawaii

this is a particularly awesome starbucks. great staff and community vibe. funny how the vision and ideals of seattle-based starbucks is so well demonstrated in this hilo location. read more

Took 15 minutes to make my drink. It wasn't even that crowded. There was absolutely no Aloha... none!

This is the worst Starbucks I have ever been to. I used to work for Starbucks as an MOD for five years at one of the busiest Starbucks stores on O'ahu, and worked at many others training staff for new stores. Every single time I come to this particular store, they screw something up. My standard order involves a hot drink with soy milk, which scorches easily. Instead of turning the steam wand off at 135 or 140 and letting it heat up to 150 by itself, they steam it all the way to 150 and it BURNS and tastes like CRAP. I eventually gave up getting my morning drink here because aint no way I'm going to pay for anything to be made by incompetent baristas. As if the baristas didn't suck enough at making decent drinks, their customer service is horrible. Believe me, I gave this place a chance, I really did. It took me a year to write a review because I kept thinking I was going on off days...Not the case. They have overcharged me here on numerous occasions, the lackadaisical attitude of the register operators makes them seem like they hate their job. They don't smile, are sassy, and there have been more than a few times whenI didn't even get a thank you after I dropped $6 on my crappily made drink. There was even one time when I was in the middle of giving my order and I guess a regular came in behind me and the girl behind the register interrupted me to tell them she could take their order. Seriously?! WTF?! Starbucks needs to step it up. Quality of drinks and quality of staff has totally plummeted. Staff needs to be trained better. There are far more competent places on this island with better customer service AND better drinks. I will not be coming back here. EVER. read more

In recent years I've really tried to avoid Starbucks coffee, because, well, it's Starbucks.... Not terrible coffee or anything but I've found that as I've become a wanna-be connoisseur of coffee, Starbucks just kinda gets boring and uninspiring. Now since Big Island is home to the famous Kona coffee, I would have assumed local places would have some darn good coffee to serve. Apparently not so much on Hilo side. Granted, I was there a little late in the day, one location (Hilo Sharks Coffee) "closed early" with their doors still open 20 minutes to actual closing time (gee, thanks guys) and Bay Front Coffee, Kava, and Tea provided me with the weakest cup I'd ever tasted, so I was left with little selection of local joints (most seemingly closed) and a serious need for some caffeine before my drive over to Kona. Enter Starbucks. After my exhaustion of seeking out a good local joint, I decided a place tried and tested, an old go-to would have to do. Thank God for Starbucks on Hilo side!! I'm sure there are other coffee shops with decent cups, it's just they weren't there in my tastebuds time of need. So as much as Starbucks can be a little redundant, they do always get it right! My latte tasted just like I remembered and I savored it all the way over to Kona. (Emit sigh of relief.) read more

I dont know what happened where it is suddenly good customer service to have the person serving you in the store, also taking a drive-through orders on a headset. Its a very unsettling experience and I really dont like it. Wont go back to a drive-through store until they hire people to work the drive-through separate from inside customers. Plus we are in Hawaii where I find the coffee to be amazing, however they do not serve any Hawaiian coffee.... It tastes shockingly bitter now that I have been spoiled with smooth, rich local Kona blends. read more

This review is for the last couple of months visits. They have been the most inconsistent, fail on almost ever order, and rude. I stop at Starbucks every morning and most times after work...I don't know if they have new employees or just slacking at their job but they have been SLOPPY. Drinks over flowing and my cup sticky on the outside. Hot drinks most times are alright...but frappes need helps this afternoon, the person on drive thru was so rude. Before I even finished saying my FIRST drink, she cuts me off and says,"would you like anything else?" I wasn't finished! They didn't put the Thai walls in that first And my frappe was so milky, I couldn't taste the extra shot in it! Their new workers need better barista training! read more

terrible service - most the staff that have worked there for a long time (especially morning staff) are entitled rude and genuinely lack any customer service skills. The managers are just as rude as the regular employees and act as if they're annoyed when your ordering. Don't expect to be thanked after purchasing your $7 coffee. You would think grown adults would know simple manners but these people seem to think that since they work at Starbucks they are somehow super cool. I would suggest going to the other location, or just go to cruising coffee down the street. Way nicer staff there. read more

The coffee is still good but since the remodel that atmosphere kinda stinks. Instead of the nice cosy feeling there was now there's an industrial vibe. Hard metal stools and wood chairs with a long wood table. Not a comfy seat in the house. read more

Huge location very conducive to work + has a drive through. Makes my work days in Hilo a dream!

Eh, only game in town.. or that I have found. I went thru the drive thru one day and ordered a "pupachino" (it's on their dog secret menu) and the girl acted like she fell and bumped her head and argued with me about it not existing. EXCUSE ME, please don't make me teach you how to do your job. I have been going to Starbucks probably longer than this girl has been potty trained ok? They also cannot recommend drinks to you over the drive thru speaker. Do they need to be trained?? They act like they have no idea what you are talking about when you are ordering drinks, and it ends up taking a really long time, just to find out you have a drink you didn't even want... My suggestion.. go inside. The barrista is really nice and seems to know her job well. Drive thru is on crack ! read more
