For bestie and I, we like to get out of the car, walk, stretch, sit down, chill for a few. This location is popular with UH-Hilo students, locals, and random vagabonds. Roomier than your average Starbucks. Bestie orders the following while she tells me to grab a seat lol...For me, Hot White Mocha, Whipped Cream. Bestie orders her Kyra Matcha with Almond Milk. After a few minutes it's ready to pair up with our Two Ladies Kitchen Mochi! Say what you want about SB, but it's always pretty consistent. Starbucks, y'all should be ashamed. I don't even like your overpriced corporate coffee, but I came in to regroup after getting assaulted by a mentally unstable meth head on the city bus. I'm disabled. I have a service dog. I took a 3-hour bus ride just to get my MacBook fixed across the street. The tech place tried to scam me for $800, so I asked the girl to call her manager--instead she freaks out and calls the cops. Yeah, for asking a question. That's the energy I was already dealing with. So I walk into your store to cool down and breathe. I'm on the phone with my boyfriend, venting, while he's trying to book me a flight to Honolulu to hit the Apple Store before it closes. I order a large drink and food. Next thing I know, some power-tripping manager walks up to kick me out. Like I didn't just pay. Like I didn't just survive a trauma. Like I'm some nuisance for being human and having a damn moment. The staff of this Starbucks is polite, welcoming and efficient. The coffee is a reliably good Starbucks brew. The reason I deducted a star is the ambience. While the location boasts a generous seating area, it only has chairs for about half of the available spots at the many tables and counters. The drive-thru is as busy as you would expect, with the line of vehicles wrapping around the store during popular hours. read more

The absolute WORST Starbucks employees I've ever encountered!!! Ordered about $150 in drinks and when I was waiting, I realized they made 6 people who were behind me in lines drinks first, since I had a large order, even though I was first and in a rush. One of the baristas made a snide remark and told me wow you are really putting us to work, since I ordered over 14 drinks, however I am the one giving them a ton of business. Lastly, and most disappointing, with 4 fully loaded drink carriers, they let me struggle to the car, open the door with both hands full, while all the patrons in the space got up to help. I was in search for some coffee and breakfast. I have limited options due to my food allergies. I found this Starbucks as I was exploring Downtown Hilo. The staff was friendly and patient as I looked up food allergens for their selections. What won me over is that the barista who took my order ensured that my order was not cross contaminated with my allergens. I ordered the Marshmallow Dream Bar which is my guilty pleasure and a Grande Cafe Vanilla Frappuccino which is a new selection for me. I enjoyed it immensely. We will bring our business elsewhere. Really bad service today from an associate that gave me my drink and took ten minutes plus to give me my pastry on a slow day. She acknowledged other customers then when i stepped to the register warmed my pastry after the ten plus minute wait walked away (not even putting it where mobile orders can be picked up) . A super kind associate then came to help me and gave me the pstry she left sitting there. I do not know what was up with her. That "barista" Hailey-ann was a bitch. she was very rude to me and definitely doesn't care about giving good customer service. She gives starbucks a bad look. She made my drink wrong and i kindly asked her to remake it she gave me a stink look and told me she was too busy. After 20 minutes of waiting for her to remake it she aggressively pushed my drink into me and rolled her eyes. worst experience ever and i don't know why she's even working there in the first place. My friend who later went there that day and was serviced by her was given a less than half filled drink. Unfortunately, today there was a girl name "Kim" at the window and she just seems very annoyed from the time i ordered my food to when i got to the window. It should be a requirement that every Starbucks have an adequate number of wall sockets along every side of the cafe. This Starbucks has a total of two double wall sockets. Two! And this location is pretty large. Of course, all of the sockets were already in use. If I had known this I would have left before buying a drink. I needed to charge my work laptop and finish preparation before attending a business meeting. There was another young woman looking for an outlet and we began to commiserate with each other. She also said she would not have came to this Starbucks if she had known that there would be nowhere to charge her phone. I won't be returning to this Starbucks on my next visit to Hilo. Really bad service. It's sad because I use to work at Starbucks in Kona that was like twice as busy as downtown Hilo Starbucks. Had the employee on mobile/ cafe orders today making my drink. From the moment she pulled my sticker she instantly was complaining about how difficult my drink was. It was a matcha with no foam with extra scoops of matcha and vanilla syrup. Not that difficult. I can understand it might be inconvenient to make during a rush, but it's not cool to complain about a drink and how you don't want to make it and then not even make it right "hoping" I wasn't there. The employee was complaining the whole time saying "do I have to shake it. Can't I just blend it. Why do they want no foam that doesn't make sense" and then the shift lead said to "just put the foam on my drink it won't be there when she gets here" It does make sense because it left 2 inches off my drink. I paid for no ice for a reason. I don't want to be a Karen, but it's frustrating when I try to do something for myself on my lunch break just to have my drink made wrong and along with the employee complaining the whole time about making my drink when I'm standing right there. When I visited, their drive thru had a line, the inside counter had a line, there were people waiting around for their order, and nearly all the tables were occupied. There were about 5 workers behind the counter taking and making orders from the counter and from the drive thru. They looked like a well oiled machine. You could tell they were feeling the pressure of the lines backing up, but they all managed to smile at those they made eye contact with, and was sure to deliver the typical friendly and appreciative customer service that is consistent with (most) Starbucks. I'm pretty sure this location is my favorite Starbucks. I love that they have a Drive-Thru, as I'm always in a hurry. They have a small parking lot and if it is full there is usually street parking to be found. They have a good amount of seating inside and out if you are in to relax or do some work. I have never been disappointed with the way their drinks were made or with how their customer service is. This Starbucks is all around, the best for me. It's close to home so when I need my caffiene fix in a hurry, it's right around the corner. + All the employees are friendly(esp. I'm not much of a coffee lover so I first started off with a Cotton Candy Frapp. Since then, I bounce between whatever sounds good. No lie though, I can go #basic on some Pumpkin Spice Latte. No shame. The driveway for the drive-thru is awkwardly short. The staff is usually pretty friendly and accommodating. I've never been inside but it looks spacious. One of the many Starbucks' in Hilo. This is the only branch with a drive thru so makes it convenient for those who are in a hurry or just too lazy to get out of car. Often, you have no choice but to order in drive thru just because there is no parking at the lot. I came here many times and it seems like every time I come here, they get my order wrong. I had ordered a caramel macchiato with soy and they will charge me for soy and give me one with regular milk. Yes, I can tell right away if its soy or not. I am lactose intolerant so I am very sensitive when it comes to milk. I also got myself a green tea lemonade with no sugar and they just gave me a regular green tea with no lemondade in it. Yeah, they charged me for green tea lemonade and I got a regular green tea. Sigh. Tried reloading my Starbucks Gold Card and paying for my drinks with my card but instead, he charged for my reload AND charged me sepately on my DEBIT CARD for the drinks. Why?! Customer service really depends on who is working but some are nice but some cant be bossy and rude. I asked for something and he just told me straight to my face that I cant do it. Um, OK. So this is a somewhat "generic" Starbucks. It's more on the dark and dingy side then most. They don't have the normal selection of the yogurts and such in their cooler. When you order, they have to go to the drive they register area to get cups. Most locations it's right next to their register for quicker ordering. A real pain if you ask me for the baristas. The time it took to make the beverages on our walk in was a little more than I am used too in Oahu or mainland locations. I waited about 10 minutes and there had only been 4 people in line, must say that unsatisfactory for Starbucks standards. The parking lot was a little poorly done. The handicapped parking is right in front where the drive thru line backs up behind them. Hilo is pretty dead at night. It was a struggle to find places open past 7pm, but luckily, there was this Starbucks, which has both indoor and outdoor seating. It's actually HUGE. There are a bunch of seats along the periphery with access to outlets, and then some scattered tables and a long table. Service was good and they have a lot of food items for sale too. They can't get the crema to remain on the top and they usually put the dang thing in a cup that is way too big, but the flavor of the coffee is good. Maybe one person works inside register and I say "maybe", because sometimes you are just left standing in line, waiting for someone to come and take your order, while you watch them all doing various things. Then they take your order...and wait and wait for your order. Your pastry arrives, cold. Not warmed, as you requested. Flag someone down and let them know...only to wait some more. In the meantime, your drink has not arrived. Not good and not happy. Okay and understandable if it just happened once...maybe if it even just happened twice... The place is FILTHY. The tables are GRIMY! Tons of homeless, that are there everyday and practically live there...literally. Very concerned about catching Hepatitis. I do not plan to go back. I've had enough. read more
