Great coffee. This is where you go to buy coffee to take home. It is not the local Starbucks. No burnt beans covered in syrup here.

I'm not a local. We vacationed in Hilo. I like going to local coffee shops, trying their specialities, and purchasing a bag. We looked up this spot and my bad, maybe I didn't read the menu fully, but I thought you could buy a cup of coffee here. I walked in asking to buy a cold brew and was informed they don't sell cups of coffee just bags of it. Okay. They let me sample the bag I chose to buy (a light roast which is my preference). It was smooth and I enjoyed it. Their business hours are like 9am to 2pm 3 days a week. Something like that. The shop is super small with just bags of coffee everywhere. So for anyone looking to grab a cup of coffee, this is not the place, but if you want to purchase some whole beans then this place is for you I guess. read more

This place is closed. We also made a detour to try this place in August. Got here a few minutes after they were supposed to open, but the door was locked and there was no sign indicating they were not going to open. Another person showed up confused. We saw someone inside and knocked. He came out and looked confused as to why we were there. Apparently, they are no longer open as a storefront serving coffee as most of their business is from online sales. I mentioned that Yelp and online indicates they are still up and running and should be open now. He again looked confused and said he doesn't know how to update Yelp and will have to look into it. Does not appear this has happened so hopefully my review can save you all a bit of wasted time and disappointment. read more

Cool to try but these are PRICEY cups of coffee. The service was really friendly though and we got to try a bunch of flavors before committing to a cup. You can really taste the difference and variety in each of the cups of coffee. They mostly have Hawaiian coffee but they do have a section of international coffee as well. I ended up getting an 8oz. hawai'i classic cold brew. I will say even with the smaller portions they don't add any ice so it's just straight chilled coffee. read more

Well-known local coffee shop serving pour overs, cold brew, and specialty coffees. My husband ordered the local island coffee and said it was smooth, hot, and delicious. There were two little chairs outside so we could sit and watch. Apparently, the secret is to wet the filter before pouring in a coffee! read more

This is a small coffee bar we walked across while wanting to nab some coffee. They have some unique flavors - we sampled them all! I opted for the cold brew (it was hot out!) and my partner went with the drip-coffee. Note: you can't rush good coffee, cruise people. Make adequate time! Our barista was knowledgeable about their coffee and roasting, was super friendly, and had us in and out! Found out about paradise after going to Koana in Mountain View, HI. We enjoyed their red wine brew and wanted to stop by since paradise had a location in Hilo. They have some of the best specialty coffee I've ever had. My favorite was the Colombian in a cold brew form, it reminded me of a fruity black tea, so unique!! Unlike any coffee I've ever had. The place requires a bit of a wait as the coffee takes time to brew but it's worth the wait! read more

Behind this modest storefront lies Hilo's best purveyor of coffee and coffee beans. When I moved to Hawaii in 2024, I threw myself into searching for the city's best beans. The locally owned and operated Paradise Coffee Roasters emerged as my favorite. The roasting dates in the bags are always recent, the contents reliably flavorful, the staff polite and accommodating. Each morning, I reach for the blue Paradise bag and feed the beans into my trusty burr grinder. The results never disappoint. The only challenge in being a devotee of Paradise is memorizing the unusual hours they are open to the public. But I think I have it down now. read more

I'm so glad I finally visited this coffee shop before driving back to Kona for my flight. It was a highlight of my first trip to Hawaii. The barista had two coffees already prepped for sampling and he was happy to share his knowledge as I spent my time deciding what to drink - and what beans to buy. I went for a cup of the Gesha, and bags of their Kona Tropical Punch Washed and Espresso Nuevo. It's a treat to still be enjoying some coffee from Paradise now that I'm home from vacation. This place is a gem! If you are visiting Hilo this is the place to stop for coffee. Their coffee is something I've never tasted before. I'm a non coffee person and I had to drink one because of how good it was. They have samples and they let you try them out. I had the champagne fermented coffee and it was delicious. read more

This tiny little place is serious about coffee. Had the pour over since that's all they do. They let me sample some of their coffees from bold to light roast. I ended up with a medium roast and it was legit. Very good coffee. The barista really took great care in making the drink. Purposefully and slowly pouring over the precisely measured grounds. It was my best coffee on the trip. I recommend this place if you are looking for a good cup. read more

We visited a coffee shop the previous day that brews with beans from Paradise (which we loved) so we had to visit this place! I'll start by saying that the service was phenomenal! The barista was friendly, knowledgeable, and easy to chat with about coffee and their roasting process, as well as plans for our trip. He gave us many samples, both hot and cold brewed, We ended up getting a pour over, a cold brew, and also purchased beans of the Ka'u Tropical Punch. Came here for a cappuccino, let me tell you how shocked I was when the person behind the counter said that they only serve; pour overs or Americano's. WTF? I thought this was a coffee shop. Well I guess if you own the business, you decide what and how you are going to do things. Well since I was already there, I settled and ordered the Americano coffee. Then I asked where the cream was, "we don't have Cream, just those little creamer packets. Darn, I was really starting to regret my choice of getting any thing here. Anyway, I put a couple of creamer's in and left. Expecting the coffee to be a complete disappointment. Then when I took my first sip, realizing how smooth and flavorful the coffee was, wow a total 180 on my preconceived expectation. I'm going to say that this was the best coffee I had during my one month stay on the island, and I consider myself a coffee connoisseur. So there you have it, if they roast coffee and serve coffee, they just might know what they are doing. Well I will definitely be back at my next visit to the Island. Mahalo read more

Very nice gentleman working up front he made us feel like home. Simple operation with a variety of beans roasted in Minnesota and locally. We tried a few samples and bought a bag of coffee. They had a few interesting options including a red wine processed bean. I had a few questions about the sourcing of the beans and the guy at the front did the best he could to answer the questions. He went to get Miguel who is apparently the owner - idk he answered the questions about the sourcing, but was vague and kinda rude. Made us feel a bit dumb for even asking the questions. read more

Excellent specialty coffee. Super impressive and I wish they were close by. Certainly expensive but as tasty as any special occasion fancy coffee I've gotten anywhere else. Had some outstanding brews made there and coffee brews up stellar at home. I had some nice coffee on the big island and Oahu but everything I tasted from paradise really stood out as superb! Nice, small coffee place with very friendly staff! Coffee tasted great and good variety to choose from. I specifically got a drip coffee using their peaberry beans which was very smooth and bright tasting. They also give you samples if you're unsure what to get. The BEAT specialty coffee on Hawai'i island. P E R I O D. I live in kona and anytime i make a trip to the east side I have to stop here. They have the most supreme local coffee I've tasted and their international flavors continue to blow me away. The paraiso from Colombia was literally a new flavor palate of coffee for me and the Kona maragogype embodies everything that made Kona coffee pre beetle-borer renowned world wide. Which, by the way, they actually sort out the beetle borer BY HAND ensuring you don't get any sub par beans. 10/10 service hands down.
