The drive-thru staff are upbeat and always smiling. I like that. Inside is a little different, the staff is less attentive and friendly, not sure why. It feels drab and sterile, sadly. The first Starbucks had a warm vibe inside, like your neighborhood coffee shop. I'm not sure if it is because I have grown accustomed to drinking Starbuck's coffee, but they do have the best regular coffee with cream and sugar I have yet to find. Other places in town have a strong cup that I can only take one or two sips of (bitter). My daughter loves all of the iced tea drinks. If you want a sit-down experience try Java John's in Nevada City or even Broad Street Cafe further up Broad Street. The staff in both locations I just mentioned are talented baristas with the gift of gab, and it is genuine. read more

I dunno why all the low reviews of this Starbucks location in Grass Valley. I was done eating lunch at a nearby buffet and I needed some coffee to stay awake the rest of the afternoon. The service was fine, just house coffee for me with room for cream. The wifi worked just fine as well as any Starbucks, anyways. The prices seem the same as Sac area Starbucks, so it was easy in and out and I got what I needed no prob. I just waited in the drive through line for 30+ MINUTES when there was only 3 people in front me of. Also, I ordered an ICED white chocolate mocha with HALF the amount of chocolate. They gave me a regular hot white chocolate mocha. And then, I ordered two kids hot chocolates at KIDS temp and they gave me got chocolates that were not kids temp. Overall fail today. I typically don't go to Starbucks but I'm obsessed with the brown sugar oat milk shaken espresso. I usually go to the Safeway Starbucks, but decided to try out this one to get my new favorite drink. They made it super wrong four times in a row. As if they used the wrong syrup, milk, and burned the espresso. I tried four times... but can't afford to try again. My husband also got a drink on his way to work and said it was the worst coffee he's ever had. I usually order my coffee on the mobile app so that I can get my order before I go to work each day. I have not gone to this location in a while and I was excited to try it again. I ordered on the app before arriving and waited 10 minutes past the estimated completion time for my drink. Usually when I order on the mobile app it allows me to get my drink right when I arrive to Starbucks and that's why I do it this way. I stood up at the pick up counter and didn't they didn't even acknowledge me and I wasn't able to tell them about my order but they proceeded to talk about other things and didn't seem to notice me at all. I paid five dollars for a coffee that I didn't even get. Not happy. And now I am late for work!! read more

It's a Starbucks! Coffee is always consistent. This location has many college student employees. They seem to take pride in their job as a barista. They offer bench seating as well as leather chairs. The lighting is favorable. The bathrooms are clean and well looked after. The one star down grade is due to the parking. It's limited and the spaces are very small when compared to the size of the SUVs and pickup trucks. They offer drive thru service. read more

I feel that this is a pretty good Starbucks. The parking lot is better then many and there is a modern lobby with plenty of comfy seating. The wifi seems to get bogged down with light traffic so don't plan to get much data for free. The staff is pretty well trained and I consistently feel treated well when I visit this Starbucks. They have honored expired coupons and make sure that I'm happy with my experience. I enjoy bringing the kids for a hot chocolate on a rainy day. Their offerings are usually satisfying. read more

Been here 3 times and every time my latte was practically undrinkable. The Espresso has a burnt flavor inconsistent with the Starbucks norm, and the milk was close to 180 degrees and burned my mouth (no, I didn't request extra hot). I figured once was a rookie barista making a mistake, but now that it's happened three times I'm sure that their machine and/or management is the problem. Starbucks corporate needs to make a visit and get this place back on the right track. My three experiences here have been, for lack of a better word, tragic. I love this new location! It's big and welcoming and you feel comfortable inside or outside. I like that they have kind of a meeting area where you can close the curtain off and have a more private setting. I sat in there several hours doing research on my computer with the Gold Card Free unlimited Wi-fi and was satisfied. The coffee is as it should be. The only things that were a disappointment was that you usually get a warm cheery welcome when you come into a Starbucks (which I love), but I think some of the people here need to work on that. The 2nd thing was that I was so thirsty for water after a Venti coffee and they were too busy behind the bar to help me. I stood there for several minutes before I could ask for a water, then waited another 10 minutes before getting it. Sometimes they are too busy, but to have a Barista as a floater to watch the floor and visiting guests would be a plus. It would be a awesome for this SB to up their customer service by maybe asking those sitting in there for a while if they'd like a refill or a water. Damn it, I fail the easiest campaign ever and it only lasted a day and a half. After driving for darn near 3 hours in the pouring rain, I was thirsty and needed a somewhat clean bathroom. 4 cups already in, good jesus where's a rest stop? Thus the very familiar mermaid sign for Starbucks popped up off of the highway. Hallelujah. It was like something was telling me, don't ever leave a friend behind. Yeah they might be bitter sometimes, a little hot or cold...either way they're there for you so why would you turn your head to them? Big new location. Drive-thru, so don't expect quick interior service. Wi-fi of any kind seems a rare offering in the area. So this location, even with its mediocre -- okay, downright crappy -- wireless transfer speed, has been in daily demand by local workers & players. Outlet-supplied seats can be readily identified by their residency by patrons nursing a lone tepid beverage for multiple hours. Baristas seem congenial, if not ideally attentive. I come here at least 1x a week on my way home. I never leave completely satisfied. Either my drink is wrong, food is not great, and/or service is crappy. Actually, I can guarantee that the service is going to be crappy. More than once was my order forgotten due to employee conversations. I rarely run into the same staff members but consistently, they are more concerned with the fun and gossip behind the counter than they are their clients. I'm sorry but I can't stand the way this Starbucks makes my usual drink of choice. I'm pretty sure the white and peppermint white mocha is a commonly ordered drink, but this location just can't get it right. I gave them a forth and final chance yesterday and screamed in anger when I got into the car with my boyfriend and tasted my horribly mixed peppermint white mocha. The failed on the basics. First and foremost after waiting for 30 minutes I had to ask for my order which they had "forgot" This was a basic Grande Mocha no whip cream, but put into a ceramic mug instead of paper cup. There is no way someone took it by mistake, because they did not have any other orders for ceramic mug. After asking for the order it was produced without any apology for the mistake or long wait. All the available tables to sit at were littered with spills and food scraps from previous customers. It is obvious that no employee had cleaned up the tables for quite sometime. In fact I did not observe anyone taking care of this in the hour I spent in the store. When I tried to clean a table for myself, all the napkin dispensers were empty. I had to ask for a towel, at which they sent someone to fill the napkin dispensers. This was at 1:30 in the afternoon, hardly a peak time. And lastly, they have a major fly problem. It was impossible to leave the cheese and fruit package open as it was immediately swarmed by flies. A truly disgusting experience. When in Grass Valley you should strongly consider one of the coffee bistros downtown as an alternative. read more
