a cup of iced coffee

Decided to try this place out because I needed a pick me up for my drive home. Ordered a Mexican Monkey. Service was really slow and they seemed to be short-staffed. Drink was ok; pretty sweet. Couldn't really taste coffee. Not quite sure if I will be back.

Visited March 25 2026...see my receipt…read more After driving into Yuba City we decided to get a lemonade before having lunch at the City Cafe. It was a way to relax alittle and let my puppy out for a bit. My girlfriend had told me about this place..decadent coffees and desserts! The coffee specials are so unique! I had already had a cup of coffee earlier at Starbucks so lemonade sounded refreshing ( and it was!). It's cute inside and has outdoor seating on the right side of the building which is dog friendly! Comfortable seating and cool music in the background. Nice vibes and pleasant people inside! Will definitely be back!

While in the area, I decided to grab a coffee before making the drive back home. I really wanted to…read morelike Steele House Coffee and thought I would based off all the positive reviews, but it just wasn't for me. I had the Banana Cream Latte. The drink had such a strong artificial/chemical like smell to it. I noticed the smell as soon as grabbed it and was alarmed. I was hoping it was coming from something else but confirmed it was from my drink. The taste itself seemed fine, by that I mean it didn't taste like I was drinking anything that would kill me, but I couldn't get over the smell and ended up tossing most of it. Hoping it was just a one off thing, and it would've been a better experience if I just ordered a plain latte. Since I'm not from the area, I didn't want to rate it too low. It was extremely busy on a late weekday morning though, so I'm sure my opinion wouldn't impact business. There was some couch, table and bar table seating. There wasn't anywhere out of the way to stand since it was so busy. They do have an outdoor patio with a few more tables. Service was average, but they were very busy and perhaps overwhelmed. I personally wouldn't be back, but that shouldn't stop you from giving them a try yourself!

Super yummy drinks and food -- I haven't tried an item from the menu I didn't fall in love with & the cafe has super welcoming and accommodating staff as well :) The baristas always go the extra mile! I was highly involved with Palestine solidarity movement during college and felt very disconnected upon coming back to Yuba but this place rlly helped merge the gaps for me. It's truly showcasing the beauty of Palestinian hospitality while also bringing the local community together. From submitting my grad school apps to getting accepted to finding out I will be getting fully funded -- everything happened right here!! Shoutout Palestine for bringing us such kindhearted people, may we see a free Palestine within our lifetimes :)

Drinks: The iced Chocolate Strawberry Latte had the perfect amount of sweetness -- not overpowering at all. Super smooth and refreshing. The Banana Pudding Matcha was sooo good. The balance between the banana and matcha was just right. Not overly sweet, not too earthy -- literally perfect. Food: The Strawberry Cheesecake Crepe was HUGE! Definitely big enough to share. So fresh and flavorful. The Honeycomb Bread was delicious -- soft baked bread with cream cheese filling and topped with honey drizzle. 10/10. We also got the beef pocket (I forgot the exact name ) -- it comes warmed and was really tasty. I think serving it with a sauce option would take it to the next level, but still really good. The Lotus Biscoff Cheesecake? So good. The balance between the cheesecake, Biscoff, and crust ratio was perfect. Now I want to come back and try the other flavors. We grabbed the baklava to-go and can't wait to enjoy that later. The inside is very clean, the staff is friendly, and they were super helpful with explaining the menu. 100% recommend trying this spot!!! We will definitely be back

The avocado toast is to die for - flavorful and delicious with tomatoes, sprouts and sun-dried tomatoes- yum. The bread is local ( Sutter - Butte) and I met the owner delivering another batch of sourdough loafs. This place is a must when you're heading to Marysville. Enjoy!

April 2nd 2026…read more Lunch with some colleagues and the Brick House was chosen as the destination. The ambiance was inviting and decor was pleasant. Everyone orders at the register and the food is delivered to your table after being given an order number. I ordered the hot pastrami sandwich with an unsweetened iced tea. I really wanted a diet coke but they only offer coca cola in a glass bottle. Interestingly, the cashier forced a 20% tip on my check. I hadn't selected a tip # yet but just went with it. My colleagues ordered avocado toast, the hot turkey melt, the bagel breakfast sandwich and the chicken salad sandwich. Some of the meals came with "pickles" that weren't brined correctly. The food all certainly looked fresh but the taste was average. My pastrami sorely needed salt and cheddar cheese would have been better. The pricing is a little much but what can you say these days. If I were to return I would definitely seek to try that breakfast bagel sandwich. I think 3 stars is fair for now given my experience. Check them out for sure

Visited April 25 2026. See my receipt as always…read more I HAD to try this place because it has a large selection of cookies and cupcakes and more ( even coffee). The parking lot was full and these customers are serious about their sweets! I bought 4 different kinds of cookies ( peanut butter..chocolate chip..and more). They are a really nice size and worth the price ( i think they were 2.25 a cookie). Inside seating and dog friendly outside. They have been around a really long time and still going strong! Not a cookie person but they are for a special person ( I did eat half of the peanut butter cookie.. Yum!)

I love the variety of the selection that they have and how different each cookie tastes. I've always had wonderful experiences here with service and I'm never surprised that this place is constantly busy. I have not had the chance to dine in at the cookie tree but there are spaces that you can do that. I also appreciate how they have different pieces of merchandise that you can take for yourself or as gifts for others. The parking can be a little tight at times but it's a small price to pay for a treat as amazing as the cookie tree. Anytime I am craving something sweet, this is always my go to place and I think it will be yours as well when you give it a try.
