Just purchased a Xl blended tuxedo mocha. Sign on wall states $7.50 but got charged $8.35. Girl says that her computer says $8.35 and that is what she has to charge. Been going to Java detour for years in Marysville. Just got bought out by a different coffee company. Hopefully the one in Yuba city will close also. Extremely unhappy with their service. First thought on this place is it's CLEAN. Second, had to try the freaking Butterscotch Mocha everyone is talking about. I mean, not just on Yelp but people on the street. Lot of word of mouth bout the the BSM ( Butterscotch Mocha)! I have now tried 8 different drinks here , 6 coffee related drinks, and a smoothie or two. ALL of them were excellent. Drink a lot of coffee and will be back again and again. It's all about customer service, and everytime I have been here they are friendly, smiling and professional. I Saw the one couples comment on the alleged rude employee but that should not detract from the place if it occurred. If you have owned a business, employees are just people. People can be rude or they could have just had a horrible day or something bad happened and they couldn't deal. Either way it happens, I have had it happen at a lot of places I have shopped but I didn't not go back to Nordstroms, Target, Home Depot, Any restaurant etc. The main thing here is the drinks are great and I am assuming if it was an ongoing issue it's been handled. Now that I am doing this review 4 days after my visit, I am am wanting a freaking Butterscotch Mocha, think I will head down there in a few. Got there at 6:50 there was another car at one window barely ordering so I went to the other and the girl with braces and glasses told me they where closed. Waste of my time driving there, lazy employees that want to close early. Very upsetting. read more

I went this morning at 5:30 am after checking Google and yelp... for what time they opened the night before before. I did this... because I am a nurse...and I commute...and I had run out of coffee. So I pulled up to the window and see it clearly posted that they do in fact open at 5:30 am. I see the girl inside setting up. She REPEATEDLY walked near the window... looked DIRECTLY at me. She 100% acknowledged I was at the window but did not open it. Gave me a strange look ... walked away. For 10 ... TEN MINUTES. I was confused to say the least. I called the phone number listed on Google and it went to a fax #. I was beyond irritated. I began to drive away and THEN I see a piece of paper taped on the next window down as you drive away (keep in mind it is still dark at this time) that they don't open until 6am. My BIGGEST issue here... is that the employee blatantly ignored me after looking at me knowing I obviously thought they opened at 5:30 am as posted everywhere that any potential customer would look. I 100% would have understood had she politely opened the window and said she didn't open until 6am and pointed to the paper at the next window down. I would highly suggest training this employee on better customer service. And updating hours if at all possible on search engines. read more

06/04/2020 11:30 am. I had been involved in a hit and run and pulled into this parking lot. The girls that worked there witnessed most of the commotion that happened. I just wanted to say Thank you from the bottom of my heart to the young sweet girls that worked there. This was a very hot day and they brought out water and some juice for my two little babies while the police were filing a report. You guys have no idea how much that meant to me. Over the years, the quality and consistency has basically disappeared. I'm never charged the same for the same exact drink, it's always a different price and different taste, depending who rings me up. The final straw was when I went thru at the beginning of February and handed the girl two gift cards I got as a gift for Xmas as payment, one I didn't know the balance of and wanted to use up, the other I knew had a $10 balance, had $10 written on it in Sharpie, with my name. She advised me they were no longer accepting those specific gift cards (which were purchased literally two days before the holiday), but would take the gift cards, take a picture of them, have the owner look up how much the balance on each card was, and call each person at some point in the future to come back thru and get their "new" gift card. She proceeds to put my cards in a sandwich wrapper and toss it on the counter after writing my contact info on it. Umm, OK. Paid for my $3.85 drink (previous day it was $3.25), and left. A few weeks later I get a call that my gift card is ready for pick up. Go back thru and am told by the same girl who took the cards that my balance is $2.13. When I asked her where the credit for the second $10 gift card was, or if there was anything saying how many gift cards were in my sandwich bag, she looked at me with dead eyes and said "yeah, I don't know." I wonder how many other people got scammed like this? Lol either way, I'm no longer wasting my money or taste buds here. read more

Stopped by today because I ran out of coffee creamer at my house. Get there and there was a huge line. It ended up being customer appreciation day, so I was happy I would save a couple bucks. The signs say $2 any java for customer appreciation so I ordered a Reese's peanut butter java along with a breakfast sandwich ($4.75). Get to the window, and I end up paying $8.30 something. So after paying I ask the girl why it was so much when it says $2 ANY Java, she said for the one I ordered she had to charge me for the peanut butter and the syrup!!! I am really torn writing this comment. I absolutely love Java.. when it's right. I get the same drink every time and it is NEVER constant. It makes me sad because I spend a lot of money on my drink and I don't mind spending it when it's good but when I leave for work and it's not good and I don't have time to go back makes me really upset. Passed up Starbuck's to give this little drive thru a try for the 1st time & after receiving the rudest customer service, I'd rather pay the high priced competition for their smiles & gratitude, rather than be insulted by this cold young ladies customer service. My husband asked, "How are you doing today?" & she replied, "What would you like?" We ordered, got whipped cream when we asked for no whip, and when my husband said, "Thank you!" she turned around & started chatting with a coworker. No "You're welcome". Aside from the rude teen at the window, the drinks were yummy. Not the service you'd expect on Mother's Day when your husband is treating you, but I guess customer service isn't her priority. read more

The coffee at Java is so delicious! I look forward to this cup of heaven every week. The employees are always very friendly, professional, and remember my name and drink! I would highly recommend the Oreo or butterfinger shake. The price point is also great in comparison to other high-end coffee places, especially during their happy hours, which is 5-7pm. I tried out this place for the first time, since it is one of the only places that actually offered a Decaf iced coffee...which Starbucks does but it's a bitter americano...Anywho, the service was why I am knocking down the stars. The 3 young girls whom were working were not friendly at all. One asked my order, no hello, or how are you doing...another brought my my drink quickly as the other tried to ring me up. I waited a couple minutes for my card but was just handed my card with no goodbye or have a great. I thanked them and told them to have a good Evening. As soon as I was handed my card the girls turned their backs and went back to talking..I wasn't very pleased with the lack of customer service. Love the coffee's and tea's but this morning I was running late for work so I wanted to kill to birds with one stone. Stopped by detour and ordered a ice tea and breakfast sandwich. I have been a customer of this location since they first opened and the one thing that I can say I always experience is consistency. I can count on consistently receiving stellar customer service, a quality fresh product, and that daily satisfaction that a good cup of morning (and often times afternoon) coffee should bring. The employees (even new ones as they are hired) typically know my drink and often have it ready as I pull up to the window. When I feel like trying something a little different, they suggest drinks that are based on my likes and dislikes, and I always drive away with a new "favorite" drink. The hot drinks during the winter and the cold drinks during the hot weather will always have you coming back for more. Although this location is not geographically the most convenient for me, I have no problem driving the extra miles to treat myself to coffee and breakfast at Yuba City Java Detour. It truly doesn't get any better than Java! read more

Slowly getting worse...have been a customer for years but in the past year or so the drinks are over sweetened, the wait times are getting longer, and depending on the staff "service with a smile" is hit and miss. They also raised their prices in the past year (which I completely understand) but I feel like I'm not getting a quality cup of coffee for the money. Just a LOT of syrup.
