Service at the deli is terrible! Even if you want to order a sandwich during a very slow time of the day 5 employees there and 2 said "Be right with you soon" . I stood there ready to order my sandwich for at least 6-7 minutes with no one ahead of me or any other customer waiting for service. I gave up and went to checkout. Had to ask cashier why I couldn't get service. Also if you try to get cash back you better not forget to get it. The cashier looked at me funny when I asked him for my $20.00 cash back from debit card. He checked my receipt and handed me my money without any apology.Had I not realized I didn't get my cash back I would have been out $20.00. I visited the store in Grass Valley to purchase some avocados for dinner tonight - I was delighted to see them posted with a price of $.79 each. I gathered up 5 and went to the checkout. They rang up my bill including other items and I paid the total bill. I looked at the receipt after I paid and noticed the avocados were charged at $1.69 each, not the $.79 posted. I brought this to the casheers attention and he said I must go online and print a coupon to get the lower price! I am very upset with Save Mart for deceiving shoppers with this pricing policy. When you pick up a bag of produce...ones that are in the netting bags...pay close attention, I picked up 5 or 6 bags of oranges, my finger went into the rotted ones...pay attention also to, bagged potatoes..!! This is my least favorite store in grass valley. Grocery Outlet quality with safe way prices. Today I made the mistake of leaving grocery outlet, which had a sale on strawberries, hoping to find better strawberries. I paid extra for moldy strawberries. Incredibly Rude, Snarky Deli person. I love Savemart. The staff is usually great and super friendly and they usually have what I need in abundance. I purchase Deli & Bakery items from them every month for our staff meetings. I have their party planning menu book at the office. I called today to place an order for tomorrow and the Deli gal was incredibly rude. First she tells me, the items I have ordered the last couple of months, don't exist as she has been their for years and they have NEVER sold that and she doesn't know what I am talking about. I say I looking at your menu, its listed, i purchased it before. She insists I am wrong and then proceeds to argue like it is too much trouble. Don't answer the phone if you don't feel up to being polite to anyone who calls. I am very reluctant to call again next month. She was so incredibly snarky and rude, She needs to be yanked back a bit. She does NOT present a good image for Savemart especially in such a small community. For her shoddy snarky service I would have given Savemart a 2 star but, I know the majority of Savemart staff are not like that. A solid food selection, prices are too high. I wouldn't mind if they expanded their meat and deli departments. Love the fresh baked bread and spaciousness of the shopping areas. Unfriendly bakers, they do not ever look up, no matter how long you stand there waiting. The cashiers can get pretty busy and grumpy. The lines at check out, especially during the 2020-2021 pandemic were nightmarish. I did not understand their methods at that time in keeping the lines down, they seemed to be understaffed. I do wonder how they can have such a high turn over rate, maybe this is a difficult manager? More organic foods, especially produce. Lately very very bad receiving scripts from fax SLOW had to wait a full day and a half for needed med. can't call to refill, their refill line won't accept it. Called store to tell them they sent me to same loop on phone. Went in 12 people waiting because staff was still at lunch 15 minutes late.There are other pharmacies in town. I don't recommend this pharmacy because of the lady at the counter. I don't know her name but it should be easy to identify her. It's the frantic one who has no idea what she's doing but is doing her best to pretend she does. Who hired her? She looks like she has the intelligence of a golden retriever and that's about accurate. Normally, that's not a problem with me. I'm not that smart myself. But she tried to pull a fast one on me and I didn't like that. I went in to check on the status of my prescription renewal to see if I had to call my doctor or not. I just needed to ask a few questions. After my last question, she started making a fuss about how it was too early for my prescription to be refilled. I was really confused because I never asked for my prescription to be refilled. I think she just has a very simple mind and that's the only thing she knows how to do, that is, to type my birthday into the computer and grab a bag with my medicine in it. She was so obnoxious and stressed out that I actually dissociated from reality for a while. I think it was some sort of coping mechanism because I'm not used to dealing with this level of insanity. In retrospect, I think she was deliberately pretending to be a completely hopeless and helpless woman in order to avoid dealing with me and manipulate me into leaving, which worked very effectively. I'm familiar with Jung's concept of the transference so I know it's not a good idea to be in close proximity to someone in that mental state. The reason I think she was trying to manipulate me was because there was a line forming behind me and she kept looking and the people behind me. I was going to give this place 2 stars because one of the guys in the pharmacy seemed cool, the ginger dude. Then I thought, nah. This woman was too incompetent and disrespectful. I can't believe she gets paid money for doing that bad of a job. I think she's new because she seemed nice the first time but after that she became very stressed out and unpleasant. Then it rapidly turned into, "oh my god this woman is unbearable." It's obviously a stressful job. And it must be difficult to find someone to fill that job. But this lady is not a good fit. Pick someone more intelligent and with thicker skin. People like her are nice until she is required to do anything she doesn't like. There's a lot more to say but I think I've said enough. read more

Savemart the store has really stepped it up over the last 6-8 months with the remodel and introduction of new items. Great deals as well. People are friendly and helpful. Even with the Covid health issues the store has kept a sense of organization. The pharmacy is my favorite. Since I moved back to town 5 years ago this pharmacy has helped me so much. The staff puts they're all into each customer they serve. They never judge and explain medications is a way that you want to listed. The pharmacy team is a blessing to me. We all have tough days at times and days that get frantic but the staff will put the customer first. read more

I love all the employees that have endurd soo much change, from our old Superviser retiring to the wonderful New managment Chris Bulock and Kevin Brand and Calvin, to the continuous remodeling and all of our wonderful customers that have stood buy our side and continue to shop at our small but large town store.. The low rating is for not following COVID-19 guidelines in not enforcing the mask requirement with their customers, despite the fact that they have a sign that mandates that. I asked a clerk why they didn't do that and he said they had no way of forcing people to wear their masks. How about not selling them groceries like other responsible stores are doing? The prices of meat are over priced compared to other grocery stores in the area. I live on a fixed income and I can't afford to pay three times more than other stores. Yesterday I bought a $13.00 bag of cat food and checked out on the self check machine; I asked for $60.00 cash back on my Debit card.. It was a big bag of cat food and I was concerned about how to carry it out but managed it just fine...... 2 hours later I discovered I didn't have the $60.00 so I went back to the store and the office person directed an employee to a special cash register whereupon he pulled out a copy of my receipt and $60.00 in cash!! The Grass Valley store is fine. I am in there at least twice a week. The staff is polite and they work hard. If you come in the evening, at the deli the chicken in the display case behind the counter can be over cooked and dry since it's been under the lights for hours. Otherwise the deli is good. The bakery is good and they are always very helpful. The pharmacy is excellent and very knowledgeable. The meat department is lacking. It needs to be updated, and I have been in there a couple times when something smells like it's gone bad. Overall the Grass Valley store is a good store. The prices are competitive and better than most stores in this town. read more

I went for my 2nd vaccination today and was treated so poorly I will never return to this store. During my 1st vaccination the young woman who administered it was not friendly but we did our transaction and that was that but today the same woman was just horrible. First, she claimed I missed my appointment because it was scheduled for yesterday not today, which would never, ever happen because in my 60 years I have never purposefully made an appointment on a Sunday. But rather than remedy the mix up she offered me some other options later in the week and was so, so rude about it I declined! What makes someone like that go into her field of work is beyond me, but she should not be dealing with the public in the vulnerable state that we are currently in!!! read more

Mostly a good store with friendly staff. Actually you can tell they are ordered to speak to you, so much so that it really sounds phony. Lighten up a little Please! Sometimes the same person will ask me if I am finding what I am looking for 3 or 4 times in 10 minutes or so. I said maybe I would be able to if you would let me focus on my shopping! That was hilarious, but True! Seriously though, there is one 50 something woman who works in The Butcher Block meat section. Not Good helping people!! I have asked her several times for a pound fish fillet or a couple dozen of the smallest clams and she says "They are ALL the same!" How rude compared to other stores who will cut the smallest piece of fish you want. I will not shop the Butcher Block when I see her there. I used to shop at this store regularly however I've had multiple problems with one of the key carriers names Amy. She is always complaining about customers and how hard her job is while she's working on the floor. Also I have been in there when she's working behind the service desk and she just sits there checking her Facebook instead of helping the customer. Aside from Amy being a very unprofessional and unpleasant person the store is amazing and they always have what I need and the rest of the employees tend to be very genuine. read more

I have been using the pharmacy here for several years without any problems. Sadly, in the past few months the customer service has seriously gone downhill. Each and every interaction weather in person or by phone leaves me feeling frustrated and generally without getting the help I needed. You can forget about above and beyond that's for sure. Bare minimum seems to be the standard. I don't know if the staff is over worked, needs more training, or maybe they just don't give a s%#t about customer service but it's gotten ugly. Worst SaveMart I have ever been to, by far! Every time I go in the line is ridiculously long because the cashiers are so slow. The meat department is consistently out of items I am lookin for and cuts their steaks very thin. Produce is hit and miss and the liquor section is always out of what I'm looking for. read more
