On a blistering summer day in Chicago a few weeks ago, my husband and I were on our way to Chicago Music Exchange. CME is just a few doors down from this Starbucks. Before going into the instrument store, we stopped inside the Lakeview Starbucks to cool off with some iced beverages. There is a variety of different seating options here - comfy couches, to smaller tables, to ledge seating by the window, and even outside tables. What prompted me to write a review on this particular Starbucks was the amount of outlets inside the venue! Before I headed to my hair appointment across the street today, I stopped by here for a pick-me-up beverage. I determined to try one of their newest drinks, " tropical butterfly lemonade refesher." I noticed that there was a large couch for relaxation, which was inviting. As I surveyed the space, I noticed not only multiple outlets were found underneath the high stools against the windows but also at the corners of that giant couch. I understand many people carry portable power banks with them, yet knowing this location with a plenty of outlets available gives me a piece of mind that I can bring my laptop and do some work here. Baristas are always friendly and helpful. I haven't had any negative encounter so far and hope to keep it that way. read more

I ordered food online and came in to pick it up. I asked for a bag and was told I had to get it myself and pack it. Got it myself and went to reach for a cup sleeve and was told "uh. You can ask next time. It's a Covid thing." Okay cool, so I can bag my own food and touch all the bags and trays, but grabbing my own sleeve is a Covid thing. Got it. Starbucks Tazo's Earl grey black tea with bergamot's lavender essence was my favorite drink at least for the last 8 years.  I've always looked forward to it and I usually got something else from their bakery either chocolate croissant or reduced fat white egg turkey bacon muffing. I am really disappointed about their new line of teas. I was surprised last time when I ordered my usual Earl Grey tea, I was not told about the switch to the new brand (at least they should mention It) to my surprise it was a huge disappointment, the natural flavor was gone, no quality at all, it had some sort of burned cinnamon weak fruity favor, totally undrinkable My only hope is they will bring back soon Tazo's teas. I totally agree with others they should at least provide both brands. In the main time am trying different places which is not bad, changes are always good! but I miss Starbucks that fact that it was right on my way to work was always convenient. FYI - When this happens to you [see previous review] and you'd like to redeem a star from a purchase when you don't have your phone app or card) you can call Starbucks Customer Service (they are based in Delaware) and provide them with your "CHK" number on your receipt. The people who answer are very friendly and they will add the star to your account provided that you have the information from your receipt. A barista from another Starbucks in the Loop politely told me this, completely unphased during the middle of the heavy morning coffee rush. He even offered to void the transaction, which would have been a hassle for him (and which I didn't put him through) but that is excellent customer service. What a difference a pleasant and knowledgeable barista makes! Props to ALL the Starbucks baristas out there who are patient, keep their cool and go above and beyond their basic requirement of shoving coffee cups into your hands. read more

Usually this Starbucks is my favorite location. The staff members are always in a great mood. However, I order a grande iced brown sugar oatmilk espresso with light ice and got a half full drink. I always order this and have never gotten a half full drink. I understand why it wouldn't be completely full since I ordered light ice, but not half full. This location is great! I love the vibes in the store. It's a little smaller than most starbucks, so seating is slightly limited. Its great in the summer when you can take advantage of the outdoor seating. The staff is nice enough. I've had one rude encounter, but other than that they have been consistently decent. read more

Yikes! Some bad reviews here, granted they didn't seem to be the happiest of Starbucks works, however the guy did say hello, took down my order correctly, and said thank you. The barista made it quickly, properly and said have a nice day. It's coffee, not something to get crazy about unless they ignore you or get the order wrong. A solid three star place with an extra star for the 15 minute loading zone parking in front of the place. Park, order and receive, then leave. Works for me! read more

Rude or simply unhappy people describe the crew behind the counter at this Starbucks. Never in my many years as a Starbucks patron have I encountered such blatant rudeness. Lately, I've used a Starbucks run to bribe myself into running a necessary errand. It was on one such trip that, upon completing my task, I popped into this Starbucks for my reward. This is not my typical neighborhood or go-to store but for the most part you know what to expect. So here I am, baby on one hip (who can give attitude to a cute baby?) placing my order. When I asked for the vanilla cake pop and a chocolate croissant (don't judge... It's my reward!) the guy looks irked and confirms if it's in fact the birthday cake one I want. Jeez, okay, I used the wrong terminology. Mea culpa! When he asked if I wanted it warmed up, I asked "the cake pop?" He literally rolled his eyes and said "no the croissant." Here's a little tip: the word "it" refers to the last noun spoken of. Next I go to pick up my drink. When it's ready, the barista puts it out but doesn't mention the soy part. I asked to make sure it was soy A) to confirm it was my drink and B) because I'm nursing and my baby is lactose intolerant. This really seemed to inconvenience him though and I got my second eye roll in a span of a few minutes. The only reason it gets two stars and not one is that it did seems relatively clean and organized. Based on the employees though I will avoid this pit stop in the future. I hesitate to give a Starbucks 5 stars because.... I mean, it's Starbucks. It's a chain. They're all have pretty much the same products. But this one actually deserves it. The staff here are exceedingly nice and friendly. I haven't had one mediocre (or rude for that matter) experience with them. Even though this one is right by the Paulina brown line station, there never seems to be much of a wait, even in the mornings! I think the best part about this Starbucks is that they never make me the wrong drink, unlike the Caribou down the street which has messed up my drink every single time I've gone. read more

This is my regular Starbucks because it's around the corner. I'm not here often enough to be known but I'm here 4-6 times a month most months. My Starbucks card gets reloaded plenty often. Today I come in around 5. It's not crowded. I'm the only one in line though someone soon joins me. As it turns out, there are three people working but only the red haired woman is behind the counter. I choose my cold item and then look at the drinks. I'm ready. Have been ready for what seems like a full minute, might have been longer. Redhead is cleaning a machine and doesn't turn around for quite a while. I'm in no rush so don't say anything. Finally she turns around and says "do you know what you need?" I almost busted out laughing. Yes, I need you to not be so short with me. I'm sorry if your coworkers are nowhere to be found but don't take it out on me. The whole closing off of the section with the big table two hours early is kind of annoying but at least they don't ask me to move. I usually leave at least an hour before closing. I can take a hint. I'll still come here because it's close but try to pretend that you like working here and dealing with actual customers. read more

This review is dedicated to my friend Paul, who says I take myself too seriously because I write Yelp reviews for Starbucks. This one is for you buddy. I, on the other hand, figure once I have checked into a place 30 times, I should probably review it. This Starbucks is similar to what you would expect from other locations - fast, friendly service and reliable coffee. I usually get an espresso drink, and the friendly staff here remembers that my usual is a grande latte at 140 degrees. It's the little things - like the staff remembering me and the close location to my apartment - that give it the extra star. As with any Starbucks, I never order any of their food. It hurts my brain to think about how this company grew so much without ever being able to make a decent breakfast sandwich or at least a freakin muffin. There are two places that sell pastries right across Lincoln, so those are a better bet. As long as I am just grabbing a coffee in the course of my day, this Starbucks suits my needs. read more

The line always moves quickly and my drink is also perfect. There is one woman who works the weekday mornings who is obnoxiously rude to EVERYONE!!! I keep walking when I see her working the register. If she's making the drinks, you will never hear her say your name and she puts the drinks down where they can't be reached. She also will give you serious attitude if you go for a stopper or sleeve. This would be a pleasant experience if this one person was not there. read more

It's a Starbucks! It's a fine part of the neighborhood. One part that is really great is the outdoor patio area. Staff are always bright and friendly, and they don't rush you. Just a fair warning that it is quite small, so sometimes on busy mornings orders take slightly, slightly longer to come out. I go to this Starbucks at least once a week on Mondays afternoons and it's usually great. But this time I went on a Tuesday afternoon and it was like being in a different store. It wasn't busy, which is usually the only fault of a Starbucks. In this case it was only me and a couple other people. This time the man at the register Edd decided not to put in the orders I, or the two girls ahead of me. All of us waited normally until they realized no one was making the orders. While this happens of the three workers one went on break and the other two were just hanging and talking. The other worker, Zach, decided there was no reason to actually be quick about making the drinks. Instead he talked to Edd about the bar across the street. Again. There was no one else there besides me and two other girls. But they kept talking and occasionally put forth some effort to make our drinks. After what took far too long my drink was finished and I really hope they aren't there on Mondays. read more

The staff is so eager to close at night that they block doors, stack the chairs on tables, and begin to clean as early as 7pm (this location closes at 9pm.) At least 3 customers came in and inquired if they were still open because it truly appears to be closed from the outside. One of the baristas even responded with "maybe that's the point..." when a customer commented that it looked closed. Seriously? If the store is open until 9pm, staff should serve until 9pm. A customer should not have to remove chairs from a table to sit down when they're there a full 2 hours before closing. Clearly, the staff has no interest in serving customers. read more

What's happened to this store over the past several months is somewhere between sad and offensive to anyone who either works in or appreciates good retailing. Staff turnover has been noticeably high to anyone paying attention. The store is often dirty. But the worst part is the aura of mean and unwelcome that permeates what once was one of the most impressive operations I've ever seen. This is a store where no one really smiles with a degree that even remotely convinces the customer that it is real. Instead there is a faux enthusiasm that skates on the edge of being brittle. This is a store where a very bad encounter of some sort is just waiting to happen. It's noticeable that new employees who haven't picked up on the surly atmosphere and bad vibe of the place are nice. There is a young man who often seems the to be the only one interested in keeping the place clean--but even he isn't immune to the eye rolling attitude imposed on even customers who are trying their hardest to be nice. I write this with sadness, because this was our go-to place. Now you can see the disengagement dripping off a crew of very unhappy people marking time or "just doing their jobs." And it is not a pleasant experience to go in here, There are two Starbucks and a Caribou in walking distance. And if some serious senior retailers come in to fix this place, we'd love to come back. But as of right now---we'll be avoiding this sad and surly little corner of the world. read more

I've dropped into this Starbucks a handful of times. The first time, I asked "How are you?" to the female with glasses who took my tall latte order (no flavorings or anything--just simple). After she told me exactly how much she didn't want to be there and lead me to believe I personally was really screwing up her day, I resolved never to ask again. FYI, most people have jobs. Most people don't really like their jobs. Telling someone who works 70 hours per week that your day sucks because you've been at work for two hours is probably not the best way to gain sympathy. Two weekends ago, I went back in. The same female was there, and she was in an even worse mood. I recognized that I should order something simple and get out ASAP... but the whipped cream for teenagers' smoothies wasn't coming out of the canister. OH, THE HUMANITY. This apparently warranted angry muttering; passive aggressively not announcing drink orders when putting them on the counter; and not clarifying orders for the people who were obviously discussing amongst themselves what belonged to whom. The male there, who was cashiering, stepped in after a few minutes of this and squirted some whipped cream his ungloved hand to show her that it was working. And then he ate it. Off his hand. That he then didn't wash. What? Through all this, it took 12 minutes after paying for me to receive a simple iced coffee, black. Yesterday, I went in, and the female wasn't there. I felt relieved and that I wasn't going to have to listen to 15 minutes of either passive aggression or outright complaining about how much it sucks to have a job. Just had the worst Starbucks experience of my life here. Courtney the barista was so aggressively rude to my friend and I that I'm still in shock. We pointed at a sandwich and asked what it was and she said "read the sign" which there wasn't...and then continued to get angrier and angrier as we tried to explain there was no sign. Pretty stupid, yes, but she was so horrible that I needed to download yelp, create an account, and create a review. I told her "I hope you have a better day Courtney" to which she replied "I'm havin a GREAT DAY. This location is clean, the staff could be a bit friendlier and I didn't notice manager good or bad. Beware as this location draws a few too many strollers in morning for my likes. read more

This location has had nearly 8 months to organize their store/employees to serve the neighborhood during Covid. I get it, we're all trying our hardest to get through it; however this location continues to fall short of the recommended health guidelines. It is always extremely busy, especially with mobile orders, but they haven't come up with a system that allows customers to wait safely. It is a VERY small enclosed space and they are usually way over capacity - paying no attention to social distancing. Other stores have a system for one way traffic from one end of the store to the other - leaving the doors open to get some air circulating, but this store is mass chaos. In addition to these concerns, the baristas could use some guidance on how to talk to customers. I commented on feeling unsafe and 3 baristas started shouting at me. I understand they are busy, but the management needs to be monitoring this - people should not be waiting inside with their masks around their chins. It was a beautiful day with lots of outdoor space for waiting! Get it together!! read more

Two stars for the fact that their product is great and usually pretty consistent. My husband and I are true Starbucks fanatics drinking it nearly every day. This location is closest to our home yet we try to avoid it at all costs due to such poor service. Whenever we've stopped in we are not greeted in a friendly way and often times are not greeted at all. I got snapped at for grabbing a drink sleeve that was located next to the counter and there was no one around to help me. Often times our drinks or food are left waiting on the counter with no one calling out to us with our order name and I have to ask if it's mine and am then given a rude response. I'm not sure who trains and manages these employees but the service does seem consistent...rude. read more

Wow! I got snubbed today on a refill. The guy told me that i 'had to remain in the cafe' in order to save the $2 on overpriced coffee.

They obviously have a "turnover" problem here because the same miserable employees refuse to leave this location! Seriously there seem to be a handful of employees who consistently provide depressing and poor customer service. And I don't even frequent this location on a regular basis. But when I do...there they are...unhappy, not smiling, hardly greeting you, and acting as if your inconveniencing them by giving them business, I go to a Starbuck's twice per day. Basically I order a doppio macchiato with one pump vanilla and extra foam. Typically this drink comes in their smallest cup because it's only 2 shots of espresso, some vanilla syrup and milk foam. But because they have to charge me for two pumps of vanilla (the minimum) the cost is almost $3. I order this at every Starbuck's and have been doing so for almost 20 years. For whatever reason whenever I visit this Starbuck's I always get hassled. The manager has trained the entire staff to charge for a tall, I continued going to this Starbucks it would cost me an extra $700 per year!. Sorry 3356 N Lincoln. No more soup for you! read more

At first I thought it was me. I don't think of myself as a particularly threatening or obnoxious person, so when I walked into the Starbucks at Lincoln and Roscoe I thought the palpable waves of disdain emanating from the male barista were rather odd. It's a convenient location for a show I'm working with presently, so I shrugged it off to a fellow human being having a bad day. Then visits 2&3 we're no different. Visit 4, I get my drink and say thank you. The me barista apparently didn't hear but instead shouted THANK YOU twice, in the most passive aggressive manner I could imagine. Finally deciding to report this rude person on yelp, I saw the other reviews. Do the Starbucks managers read these? OMG this person should be working for a collection agency, not in a service job. read more

It's a convenient location. Stopping by early afternoon until close is just my preference. Working early AM shifts are not easy when the store opens up at 5:30 but the AM crew handles it pretty well. For me, being up and working that early in the morning is ungodly. read more
