I have been fortunate to pop in for my two favorite drinks, Medicine Ball and now Peppermint Mocha Frappe. Awe it's the most wonderful time of the year when ai can get my Peppermint mocha fix. And this time they didn't forget the chocolate curls. Plus I spurlged for the lemon loaf and a marshmallow treat. I have not received not one bad service yet and I hope I don't.

Food and tea were tasty. I had the Ham & Swiss Croissant with the English Breakfast Tea. The service was exceptional. The ambiance was relaxed. There was music playing in the background that had me being reflective in my chair. The beat and the rhythm were just right. And this Starbucks had plugs/electrical sockets. There were people there on their computers with them plugged in. My overall experience at this Starbucks was impressive. #howdidyoureact

    Iced pistachio latte, $5.

My oldest daughter wanted coffee from Starbucks on our way to pick up dinner. She ordered and paid for an iced pistachio latte on her app for pick up. When she got to the mobile pick-up counter, the employee couldn't locate her latte. My daughter pulled up her purchase on the app as evidence. It turned out another employee had set the latte at the cash register instead of the mobile counter. My oldest daughter was given a four dollars gift card as a peace offering. My oldest daughter said the latte was good as always.

The cashiers totally ignoring my request

I pulled up to Starbucks this evening to grab a drink my mom recommended called a "tea bomb" I admit i did arrive close to closing time but my time I arrived was 7:28 when I pulled on the door I was given a hand gesture stating the were closed & I literally begged them to open because my throat is really sore & I need relief. I would totally understand if this was a weekend & the girls was busy all day I would have just searched automatically for another location. in still sitting in front of this location it's 7:45pm and the lights are completely out.

This little parking lot works out but I'm sure it can get crowded when it's the perfect opportunity and people are lined up to eat Chipotle and drink Starbucks at the same time? Maybe not. Starbucks is Starbucks but this one has some decent seating, a nice open countertop where your drinks come out and the bathroom is very spa-like. I love the ambiance. I could hang out in here all day if it weren't a bathroom.

Okay Okay, perhaps it isn't the "Yelpiest" of places BUT it's close to my yoga studio, has plenty of free parking and has fast wifi. For me, those 3 things are very important. 1) Proximity 2) Parking 3) Fast internet connection. There's one long table in the middle that is good for study groups. And there are approximately eight 2-top tables good for singles or 2 people. Windows line the wall so plenty of natural light. It got pretty crowded and noisy around 9am but the rush didn't last. Music is good for studying/work but if background chatter/expresso machines bug you, bring headphones. The latte with coconut milk and oatmeal (berries, nuts & brown sugar) were good as expected. Listen carefully for when your order is called. I thought I was listening but when my oatmeal never came, I realized it was sitting up there for who knows how long. Guess they don't call it more than once and softly at that.

Short answer: absolutely worth it!Long answer: I'm already thinking about my next excuse to come back. Walking in, the space immediately delivers. The aesthetic is awesome-- the kind of intentional, beautifully designed interior that feels warm and curated rather than staged. It's trendy without being cold, and the Inner Harbor location makes it that much more special. I know there is a huge renovation planned "down the harbor" , this Matriarch is ALREADY READY! You get all the energy of the waterfront with a cozy, tucked-in feel once you're inside. Now, the coffee. I got a latte that was genuinely one of the better cups I've had in a long time -- smooth, rich, perfectly pulled. I also had a Chai and paired it with a cherry & cheese danish that was fresh and delicious, the ideal complement to the drink. I asked for it heated and it was hot all the way through. Hate it when I get it and it is cold in the middle...the barista understood the assignment and got us right! Everything felt thoughtful, like someone in that kitchen actually cares about what they're putting out -- because they do. Speaking of which -- I had the pleasure of meeting the owner, and it all made sense. Warm, passionate, and clearly proud of what they've built. Shirts, cups, napkins, and merch that says "I love my Matriarch" is a reminder of the "Why" behind this spot I think. That kind of energy flows through the entire space and staff. You feel it the moment you walk in. The Matriarch isn't just a coffee shop. It's a destination. If you're in Baltimore, this is a must. If you're outside the city -- make the drive. Trust me. See you soon, Matriarch!

We had the matcha latte, and a menu special: solar eclipse which was chai with expresso macadamia nut milk and lavender syrup. Matcha was good flavor and quality. The drink special I pass, I gave it a fair try but it didn't taste good- there was a very acidic taste at the end. My first time in was after calling to see if they had gift cards, went without an answer . So I went there and nope. Waisted my time going there.

(Apr 2026)…read moreIt's an easy to find bright blue storefront on Light Street, just north of the Cross Street Market. At 10am on a weekday, we found metered street parking right at their corner. It's a large space, with walls covered with art. There's around 52 seats at tables of mostly 4 and 2, with one for around 12. There was a 2-seat-table set up outside, and a bunch more available down the side of the restaurant that could be set up. We chose a table for the two of us, and server immediately offered us hot coffee in big steaming mugs. The menu, available online and by QR code, is huge! We ordered Veggie Scramble: 3-eggs lusciously full of mushrooms onions green peppers and tomatoes. They let us choose feta cheese! And the hash browns were epic! A mountain of creamy shredded potatoes, well-done to a crispy crunchy surface! And we got their Huevos Rancheros: open-faced 2-egg tacos, flavorful medium-spicy Mexican chorizo sausage and salsa verde under melted cheddar-cheese, over warm soft corn tortillas, with a side of those amazing hashbrown shredded potatoes. We got the eggs scrambled. Both breakfast servings were ample and delicious. Service was friendly, fast, and efficient. A few flaws: They have no espresso! Waah! The strong black coffee tasted a little bit bitter, maybe brewing for too long, but it was fine with milk and sugar. We each had two cups, which tells you the bottom-line :-). And, we made a point of choosing a two-person table, while one person waiting for a date was asked rather sternly by the manager to leave their only 12-person-table for a larger group. Makes sense, but it might have come-across a little too harshly. While I'm fussing, i didnt see any food photos on the QR menu. Sigh. We loved our generous breakfast and the whole friendly artsy atmosphere. Everyone, even the switched-table, seemed comfortable, with friendly chatter filling the high-ceilinged hall. Their sandwichboard sign out front says "Best Breakfast Ever!" Pretty darn close!

Friendly staff and fast service. You cannot reserve ahead but my boyfriend and I were seated immediately because they had a table which just opened for 2. I loved some of the artwork and every detail that they put into designing this place. Coffee: brewed nice and strong Stars of the food show: Sweet Baby Jesus: A burst of sweet and savory crab chunks sprinkled with old bay in every bite. The tomatoes were a refreshing break as your taste buds were recuperating from all of the savory melted cheese, hollandaise sauce, crispy hash browns, and delicious eggs. It's large enough to share but toooo good to want to share lol I thoroughly enjoyed this. Captain Crunch French Toast: This was the BEST French toast I've ever had. It's layers of goodness starting with fresh fruits on the top (blackberries, strawberries, and green apples). Next, fresh whipped cream. Then you move on to the perfectly crusted French toast and the captain crunch pieces sprinkled throughout the plate. I didn't need any syrup at all because it was sweet enough. But this was an amazing dish! My boyfriend and I did share this because it was shareable and we both wanted to indulge in it while enjoying our individual meals. I'm immediately planning our next visit to this place-definitely worth it.
