I like this Starbucks. The service is excellent, and my order is what I want. Moreover, there is multiple wall outlets, which for me is critical. Any coffee shop MUST have lots of wall outlets, to accommodate patrons who come with their laptops, tablets, and phones!! Another thing which is nice of this Starbucks location is they have some nice, soft seating towards the bathrooms. Kind of like a wraparound couch. The Wi-Fi here is good, for an Albuquerque Starbucks, which is nice. I've often seen teenagers here, so there must be a school nearby, although I've not seen it. Either that or this seems to be a place frequented by teens who will come here to chat and do homework. For me there's only one drawback. This location is kind of hard to get into the parking lot. I find it best to approach it heading south on Golf Course road, then turn right into the parking lot for the Smith's which share the parking lot. However, in a sense its kind of cute. For whatever reason, this Starbucks location makes the best cafe mocha. I've tried every west side location and this one is my favorite. I order a Tall cafe mocha 95% of the time. Same order this time. But I was disappointed. A Tall drink from Starbucks is listed as 12oz. When I picked up my order from the counter, I right away noticed that my cafe mocha felt a little light in terms of quantity. I should opened it and checked, but didn't. I live six blocks from this location. When I got home, I opened the cup lid and discovered it was at about two-thirds full (see picture). I was not happy. I understand they leave room for whipped cream and other toppings, but this is ridiculous. If Starbucks advertises 12oz, I expect 12oz, not 7-8 oz. Came by late to try a Dragon Drink, I've never ordered a Dragon Drink before and thought I'd give it a try. The drink was good not to sweet kinda tasted a little watered down however it was made with coconut milk. I would definitely order this drink again, it was quite refreshing This location is open till 10:00pm which is nice if you have a coffee craving a little late. I go to this Starbucks probably every other day. Comparatively I'd say this is the best starbucks in ABQ. I get a custom drink and they have the best consistency BY FAR. I think the manager and regional manager associated with this location are extremely helpful, friendly, and efficient. I've made special requests and they have obliged. The only issue I ever have is that the drive thru lane is awkward and gets congested, but the area is busy and that's not their fault. Also, I've seen them training employees and they seem to be patience and kind. Friendly staff in general. No complaints. read more

So, it's a Starbucks, and I like Starbucks, so the three stars are not meant to suggest anything more or less than the fact that this is a good solid workhorse of a Starbucks. That said, this location has no drivethrough (nor does it have a Clover brewing system, but neither does any other Starbucks in NM), but it is probably my favorite loc in town. Great view of the mountains if you sit outside (even if you have to look past the parking lot in front of you). And it's a little off the beaten path -- well removed from Interstate traffic. On the other hand, it is in the middle of a well populated residential area, so plenty of locals from whom this is not a guarded secret. But the big news is that this location just (like just last week just) went through a redecoration. Gone are the upholstered chairs (which I liked), and the large uni-space. They've been replaced by more a modern looking sitting space of chairs and sofas (Scandinavian influenced design?). It was comfortable, but very cold in that corner this evening. This space is separated from the rest of the shop by dark floor-to-ceiling bars (like a jail cell without the unpleasant incarceration vibe). I'm going to go with "Japanese design" influence on that architectural touch. The rest of the place is set up with the usual table and chairs, including some tables that are large enough to accomodate a group of, I'd say, ten or so people. Overall, the place has mod'ed itself up. Sleak and cool rather than warm and cozy. Not in a bad way, but just be aware of what to expect. read more

I feel dirty for givin them such a low rating, but their customer service / interaction is what's prompting my score. I come through this location fairly often and it seems like they take forever to make your drink. Why's that? The staff is busy gossiping. It gets pretty annoying, especially when it takes 10 minutes to get a simple tea and there isn't even a line of other customers waiting for their beverages. Awesome place to go to in general. The staff are friendly and parking isn't bad at all. Plenty of parking spots. I wish it was a drive through though. I'm not one to write reviews ever, but I am just so annoyed by this location, and definitely done coming to this one. Anytime I go thru their driver thru, which isn't even a lot, my order is always wrong.. since they don't have your order displayed on the monitor, they should always have their employees repeat back the order since they never get it correct.. every single time I get my drink, it is wrong. I get a pretty simple drink, Venti Matcha Green Tea with soy milk and LIGHT ICE, but at this locations they never do the soy milk and I'm sorry but there's a huge taste difference in soy milk and whole milk. And with the light ice, apparently to them that means fill the cup 3/4 with ice. I don't always have time to ask them to remake it, and I know a lot of others don't either! So just don't go to this location if you're ever in a hurry/or don't have time for them to remake it for not listening to you the first time! This Starbucks was formerly in the inner part of the shopping center and has now been rebuilt as a drive-thru along Golf Course Rd. The late Starbucks was a cozy, relaxing spot where many from the community would gather and talk. It took a little more effort to secure one's coffee as it was not a drive-thru but it was well worth it. The store was quiet and one could easily converse or study. It was relaxing, the staff was friendly, there was plenty of parking and the store was clean. None of this can be said about the present Starbucks along the street which caters to the drive-thru clientele. It may be fine for those that drive-thru, but for those who enter the store, it's a whole different ballgame. The present store is like a warehouse. The ceilings are very high and it is extremely noisy. One has to literally shout to be heard across the table. Unlike the closed store, the chairs are terribly uncomfortable. They dig into one's legs while many of the tables now are surrounded by stools which will do "wonders" for your back. The "comfortable" chairs are similarly uncomfortable and have little back support. Bring back the old chairs! The baristas who were formerly friendly and sociable are now so tied down with their headphones and the exigencies of the drive-thru that the service is shoddy. While there are a lot of new baristas that are probably happy to have a job, one can tell that the old baristas are NOT happy. Similarly, the store is dirtier than in the past; the floors are often replete with crumbs, paper, etc. The bathrooms now have the air dryers ONLY. No paper towels allowed. Studies have shown that fewer people wash their hands without the paper option--the dryers are such a pain--so one can be assured that the baristas aren't washing their hands as frequently either. A pleasant thought. Lastly, the parking consists of 4 spots, one of which is for the handicapped (and certainly is not enough). One must park in the Smith's lot and the walk from there to Starbucks is hazardous. There is a small crosswalk that has been put in and a couple of stop signs that drivers habitually ignore. Traffic is coming from all directions as one attempts to cross the street. I'm not happy to predict it, but it is only a matter of time until someone is hit crossing the street. Starbucks, you have been warned. No doubt Schultz is making more money with his new drive-thru, but the cozy, community-friendly store that he bragged about in Starbucks' beginning is long gone. Nowadays they want you in and out as quickly as possible. read more

I have 4-5 Starbucks all within a 5 minute driving distance from me yet this is the one I always come to when I have to study, get a coffee to go, or just sit and read it. This Starbucks is very spacious with a good amount of sitting room and tables to do homework at or chat with friends. There is also a little sitting area with about 4 chairs in case you wanna be more comfortable. Its also a clean Starbucks. Some are dirty and have trash on the tables or the milk and sugar area is sticky and gross. They also have plenty of merchandise and their bakery section always seems to be full. They are quick on making drinks even when they get crowded. When I order ahead on the online app it is ALWAYS waiting for me up front. The staff are friendly and have a positive attitude. As far as the food/drinks go, its just another Starbucks. I give them 5 stars though because I've been to so many Starbucks on a regular basis where they almost always mess up your order and its so annoying! Not here... The only thing I wish this Starbucks had is the recyclable bin set up but hopefully they'll get one soon. I will still give them 5 stars. read more

The drinks were semi- warm, and didn't taste good at all. My most recent stop in- I actually senty drink back- and had to have it remade. So! First off, the only reason they get a star is because there is nothing less. This morning I decided that on the way to the office I'd swing by and get coffee for everyone. I thought if I got whatever they had on tap it would be faster so I settled on the Christmas blend. I then watched as they filled up the container half way with whatever coffee they had there. They had to brew more so I understood I'd have to wait longer, but if I knew what they'd do next, I'd have never stopped by. I stood there waiting as customer after customer was served. 10 mins, 20, 30, then I started noticing that they were serving the Christmas blend to customer after customer. 45 minutes later and only when I told the lady working there that I wanted to cancel it she told me that all she had to do was pour it. I then told her that only if she poured it n the spot I'd take it she did. That's the last time I step in there, simply ridiculous. read more
